Decent indian food but nothing great. Samosas aren't bad but don't order the mango lassi. Since when did lassis become watery and served with ice? Odd, and not tasty. Entrees I've tried: Chicken tikka biriyani- not bad, the chicken was cooked well and the flavors were there. Rice was mushier than I would have liked but other than that a decent dish. Chili chicken- completely different than any chili chicken I've had before. Not sure if they were going for an Asian fusion thing- kind of reminded me of orange chicken which was weird. Malai kofta- probably the best of the 3 dishes I ordered. Cooked well and spiced well. This place doesn't really satisfy my Indian food cravings but not bad enough to where I wouldn't go back. read more

Magically delicious. We ordered the naan, fish masala and chicken coconut korma. They were all so good! My only complaint was that I didn't receive more pieces of fish in the bowl of masala. When the fish was gone, I used the naan to get the rest of the sauce (no way I was leaving any in the bowl). I'm no professional Indian cuisine critic, but you can trust me anyway. When in the City of Utah this is a normal lunch spot for me. Being that my sister in law is a very strict health nut, my brother in law is always craving to get away to eat a little Indian buffet. This small buffet has just enough choices to make a perfect lunch. Tandoori chicken, curry chicken, lentils, everything was spiced just right for lunch. I ate tons of Indian food there and all over Boston and also in India itself. I have been to Bombay House and while I would give it 4 to 5 stars, India House in it's own right has excellent Indian food. I live not far from India House so I do not feel the need to travel all the way to Bombay House when I want good Indian food since I can get it right here. From the mango and plan lassi to the different curries and tandori chicken and the various nans etc, it's all good! I like this place. I don't know that it's the best possible Indian food in the history of the Salt Lake Valley but I think it's worthy of my continued patronage. I've had dinner and I've had the buffet. Don't expect a dollar menu because those only exist at McDonald's. I have a favorite Indian restaurant but these guys are open on Sunday. That alone is enough for me to return. Quality ingredients, good service, average prices. (What it's it about Indian food here that makes it at least 25% more than anything else? ) Don't care for location or ambiance but eating out is more about eating than anything else. I was there on Monday (12/16/2013) and decided to have their lunch buffet as I wasn't sure how much I would eat. Their selection was okay but nothing to get excited about. Out of the minimal options they had I decided to go with the Chicken Khorma. I didn't load my plate up with all that much as there wasn't much left- so I got maybe a ladle full of sauce and TWO pieces of chicken, I also got a small piece of naan and some rice. The flavor was really lacking- it had very little if any spice to it at all. So I finished what was on my plate and then went back for dessert, I had this bread ball thing that was soaked in sugar syrup. Along with the soda I ordered my total was just over 11$. As I was leaving I thought, not bad but not great..... until a few hours later when my stomach was killing me. I spent most of that night hugging a bottle of Pepto on the toilet. Wondering oh dear God why me? Today, after barely being able to eat since Monday and still making constant runs to the toilet I went to the doctor and was told I have SALMONELLA!! At least now I know why I still feel terrible but needless to say I will never be going there again. read more

India House is without a doubt THE BEST Indian restaurant in Utah. Their food is consistently well cooked, expertly seasoned, and served at just the right temperatures. For 15$ worth of money, they give you half a box of rice stirred with some half cooked peas and chilli powder! I bet you can go any place else and get better food than this restaurant! Seamless delivers this restaurant....I'm In SLc on business and opted out of socializing....called Seamless and ordered in some Indian food. The last time I had Indian food this well prepared was in LA about 6 months ago....I eat Indian food regularly...and India House has amazingly prepared and well seasoned food. The food was just ok - we ordered samosas, chicken tikka saag, bhindi aloo, and garlic naan. The samosas were a bit dry and didn't have a ton of flavor. Medium heat on the main dishes was mild at best. The service was SLLLOOOOWWWWW. It took more than 45 minutes for our food to arrive. There was a table of 4 behind us who ordered right before we did and their food came, they ate and were paying their bill before our food even arrived. I've been here 3 times. I love the food but the service is absolutely horrendous. I generally takes about 10 minutes on average before they even come to you and offer you water or a beverage. Food takes forever. I'm not coming here anymore. I understand sometimes in the restaurant business you can be busy and not always get to your customers at a promptly time. But the three times that I've been here it's been slow inside only a few people at tables. And when you got to wait so long in between your service. It gets frustrating. The food is good but the service is just absolutely terrible in every way. It's a fairly clean place. It's just the service and I can't handle bad service especially three times. read more

Shout out to the lady that knocked on the employees door for us. My friend and I waited about 10ish minutes wondering where everyone was. No one else was there besides the one lady. When we were finally seated, the waitress walked away, forgetting to ask us what we wanted to drink. They also advertised a special for a lunch buffet Monday-friday on their website and when we asked about it, they denied that special. We both looked at the menu and realized that the portions weren't worth the prices to us so we chose to leave before being served. The lady said "wish I did the same." I grew up in this area and agree with other reviewers that this is not the most visually appealing stretch of the valley. But, whenever I come back I am curious to try some of the restaurants that have popped up around here. I saw that it received good reviews and so we tried it out. I had the garlic naan and tandoori chicken. Both were excellent. The chicken was very succulent unlike other dry tandoori chicken I have had elsewhere. The wait staff was a little timid and could have more confidently answered my brother's questions about the menu. I couldn't tell whether they didn't know the answers or were just reserved. Husband and I were offspring free so we decided to go wild and head to Ikea -I know right? We were on our way to Chinese however we decided Indian would be a better choice. On our way south we yelped Indian and came upon this little gem in "Super, Awesome, Doesn't-Get-Any-Better-Than-This Sandy." We were close so we dined here. I had the chicken tika while the husband had the lamb saag. I enjoyed my tika however, the husband really enjoyed his saag. I'd go here again IF I'm ever that far south again. I ordered too little to leave a really useful review but here it is for now. Tried the Kerla Chicken, Roganjosh, and garlic naan. Garlic naan is crispy good. Kerla chicken is kinda ok.. a bit too coconuty for my taste. Perhaps that's how it should be but usually when I make things with coconut milk it doesn't taste that strong. But that's just me. Just a precaution the coconut is very tastable. I asked for suggestion from the waiter whether I should get Butter Chicken or Roganjosh and he suggested Roganjosh. Didn't disappoint. It's supposed to be yogurt but you can't really taste the yogurt so it tasted like lamb curry with thicker sauce texture. The herbs tasted fresh, it was great. They will offer 4 levels of spiciness: mild, medium, hot, extra hot. Mild is way too mild, can't taste anything hot. Medium is probably gonna be the perfect balance for most people but that depends on if you're a wuss about spicy hot or not. I didn't really snort so medium was a bit mild for me. I personally should have gone hot (but I'm used to sambal as condiment everyday so if you're more immune to hotness, I'd suggest hot). Service was a little slow. Food came later than expected. Waited like 20-25 minutes. My plate had greasy fingerprint on it :| I wiped it away I didn't complain tho. It was a bit questionable. But at least they're prompt on filling up your glass. read more

Prior to last Friday if somebody would have asked me where to go for lunch on a Monday through Friday India house's buffet would have been a top 3 recommendation. After this last visit I'm not so sure anymore. It's been a little over a year since I've been here and it seems that things have been switched up a bit. Big fluffy whole pieces of garlic naan served fresh to your table is no more. The naan is chopped up and on the buffet line and was consistently burnt on the bottom. The main meat curry dish in now chicken Korma. There was no tikka masala or fish curries like once was. I never used to mind spending a few more bucks here due to their superiority but now I feel like I'm back in search of Utah's best Indian buffet. read more

This has been one of my favorite Indian places for a long time, but it's got a lot more competition now. What I'm realizing about Indian food in general is that 1. I believe it is overpriced no matter where you go. Don't get me wrong, I am willing to overpay every once in a while because I don't want to take the time and effort to make it myself. Nevertheless... My boyfriend is a big eater, and after 2 orders including rice, we were both still hungry. 2. Every place is going to have dishes that they do better than others. For example, this place has one of the best lamb saags. Conversely, I find their chicken coconut korma to be lacking the rich creaminess of other restaurants. 3. Seems like a lot of people are going for the lunch buffet, which I have no experience with. 4. I know some places give you "free" naan, but usually their entrees are more expensive. This place is not a free naan place, that being said, their garlic naan is lovely. I think part of the problem is that the bf and I don't eat flour, and so we don't get full on the carbs like other people do. If we had our druthers we would druther the entrées big bigger and with more meat. Still, the flavors here are nice and we will keep it on our list of Indian food go to's. read more

YES! YES! YES! India House made me fall in love with Indian food. Specifically the chilly chicken - it's amazing. It can be quite spicy if you get it hot so opt for medium for the best enjoyment. Add a garlic naan and you've got a great meal ahead of you. The servers are attentive and they take such good care of you. While reading the reviews on Yelp I was creating a high expectation for this place and it under delivered. The lunch buffet is SMALL. When I was there it had 3 dishes with chicken and 3 vegetarians, then rice and naan, besides salad and 2 deserts. I've been to Indian buffets with way more options of food and even with the mango lassi included (on India House you pay $3.99 for it). For the variety of dishes offered, the lunch buffet price ($8.99) is a little steep. Not sure if I'm returning here. read more

I haven't had Indian food in India but I have had similar in Nepal, where most of the restaurant cuisine is of Indian origin, and an absolutely fantastic place, the best I've had in the world hands down, in Japan, yes Japan.
