We went in on Saturday at 6pm. We were told it would take an hour because they had a "big order". We waited at the table for 20 minutes, still no menu, no drinks... we wanted to order so our "hour" could begin, but no... no menu, no drinks. The couple next to us said they been waited 60 minutes. As soon as they stood up to leave, their food came out. We just left, not knowing when our "hour" would ever begin. One guy just stood at the register, not caring what was going on in the dining room or the kitchen. They really need to get their act together. How do you even know my order is going to take an hour, if you don't even know what I'm ordering. Definitely the strangest restaurant experience. It was if they don't want customers. read more

Stopped just to see what's on menu, had chicken curry very tasty and the garlic bread compliments the meal. The hot tea was very good with the spices in the tea. The portions are large so a to go box is a must. Very well done I will come back with friends. read more

Oh boy, so long awaited. We have not had Indian food in LC for a long, long, long time & these guys do not disappoint. Staff was great, lunch buffet was on point, & take out is avail. Was kind of hard to spot last night as we were looking for it. But finally found it. Their outside lights weren't on. The decor is a bit lacking and service was a little slow and seemed somewhat unorganized. The food was very good and flavorful. They say it's Northern Indian food. So some taste may be a little different than the southern style. But I liked it a lot. Only down side is they didn't bring much rice for our dishes. We had to ask several times for more rice. But they gladly brought us more. Hopefully with time they'll refine their service. But I'm so happy to have Indian food back in Las Cruces. I've been missing it for years. read more

We were thrilled when this opened. We love Indian. We had been there three times in a weeks time and every time the service was bad. The lady recognized us every time...you think we would of been treated better....we are great tippers! The third time there we waited 20 minutes and didn't even have water, silverware or menus. They came to our table three times confirming we needed water and then instead of getting us water and taking our order they waited on other customers and cleaned tables. The buffet if ok but was very sparse....they don't refill it enough. It was about empty on three dishes. And the Nann (the third time) was store bought crap!! We read all of the reviews and came to this restaurant for something different despite some negative reviews. We were very pleased. The service was immediate and attentive and personable. The food was delicious. We ordered samosas, garlic naan, lamb curry, butter chicken, and paneer tikka masala. The curry was medium and definitely had a kick. We would order all of it again, but then again we want to try other dishes too. We did go for dinner, so we ordered off the menu. read more

I called this restaurant at 4:30P, a half hour before they open for dinner. I inquired about gluten-free items on their menu. The gentleman who answered said, call back at 5:00 when we are open. As a consequence of this response we won't be returning to see whether their dinner menu is more savory than their lunch buffet. read more

Second review. In my first I said that the entree I had was 95% chicken w/few vegetables, but it tasted ok. (I'm not a fan of meat-meat-meat, but some people are, of course). Today I had the lunch buffet, which was much more to my liking. I had some chicken tikki masala, which was very tasty, along with several vegetable options, all of which were good, and a small bit of an egg dish (I forget the name of it) which I'd never had. Regular and (tasty) garlic naan were on the buffet as well. I'd give the buffet at least a 'B' if not a 'B+', and to top that, they have a punch card where you get a free 4th buffet after buying 3, which is a heck of a deal. I'll be back soon. read more

While traveling across country, we stopped at local hotel. Checked to see what food was close by that offered delivery and saw India Hut. We were delighted with the food. In fact, it was best chicken Tikka masala I've ever had. So happy we tried this place. You should too. read more

We made a reservation day before but when we went there we had to wait like 10 minutes even to speak with them, finally the person in-charge came out and she said that there are no more tables (although we made the reservation and we were on time). Gone about three times and it's progressively gone downhill each time. This last time the paneer masala had a near-gravy sauce and the garlic nan was thin and burnt. About the only decent thing was the mango lassi drink, but anyone could make that. Looks like they have a new hispanic chef, and while I appreciate him wanting to dabble in other cultures, I don't think he knows what he's doing. This town is desperate for an Indian place but money is too tight to blow on mediocrity, and I don't feel like getting out to throw up on the ride home. Adios, India Hut. read more

I've been driving by this place just waiting for it to open! They are still getting the hang of it and seem to already experience very high demand. So if there is only buffet at dinner, don't be too surprised, just give it a chance! Once they get a hang of what is popular and how many more people need to be hired, this place is sure to be one of the best restaurants in town. Tandoori chicken was very good, as was both plain and garlic naan. Butter chicken and daal was also delicious! I wish the dinner buffet had more veggies but I am planning to come back to try other things like the palak paneer and biryanis. After living in LA next to one of the top Indian restaurants reviewed by Jonathan Gold, I've been craving Indian food so much and am happy to finally have this option! read more

Decided to try this place out with a few friends for lunch. I was super excited to see they were doing a lunch buffet that didn't disappoint. The lunch buffet had a great spread, lots of veggie options and meat alike. Their butter chicken was some of the best I've had. Not the nondescript chunks of meat that normally plague Indian places. They were pretty slammed with people, which was nice to see. They struggled to keep the buffet filled but did a decent job. I'm sure that will get much better over time, they are just starting out. They give you punchcard for the buffet with your fourth visit being free. That will definitely keep me coming back. read more

Omg this place totally change my opinion to Indian food. They have all u can eat for lunch mainly chicken. The chicken curry is the best dish. The chicken tikka masala is a bit lack of taste compared to the chicken curry. By the way the snack on the register table it tastes like star anise. I once gave this restaurant five stars before many people even commented. The last two times that I went there, we had to wait 30 minutes for the buffet food. I got there when they opened for lunch, so they didn't have it set up. The waitress wasn't as friendly as she was, when I first went there. I asked for no sugar in my tea and I got tea with sugar. Our neighbor recommended this place and while it is an Ok place for Las Cruces I have had better. The first thing I notice when I walk into a good Indian restaurant is that I'm suddenly hit with the aroma of all the spices they use in cooking. That was missing here and carried over to the taste of their food. We came for the lunch buffet so we could get a sampling of their dishes but I left thinking that they were afraid to use spices in their food. I tried everything and while some were fair most lacked the flavor I'm used to. Chicken was the meat used in almost all of the dishes and it was fine but I would rather spend my $10 at KFC. To be fair my wife liked the food and will go back; hopefully for a takeout order so I can eat somewhere else. read more

If you're coming to India Hut, be prepared to go home satisfied and planning your next visit. I had the chicken Tikka Massala and it was the the most delicious version of that dish that I've ever had. The chicken just fell apart in my mouth, the species in the sauce were blended beautifully. I ordered mine spicy and i enjoyed every bite of it. I'm definitely going back for more (and the Lamb Curry isn't bad at all). read more
