Love India. I had the best experience and meal. I ordered online and requested a 5:30 pick-up. When I got there, my order was unfortunately taken by someone else. The staff was quick to identify the mistake and the owner was very apologetic and had a new order made quickly and provide dessert for the inconvenience. While the mistake was not India's, they handled it great and won my loyalty. Dinner was delicious, chicken tikka Marsala, tandoori shrimp curry chicken, the kale salad, naan and more. All so good. I love this restaurant for their mid-day buffet special during the weekend, their absolutely beautiful floral displays during spring to autumn, and, I confess, their happy hour giant $5 margaritas. But recently, my girlfriend and I had a splendid Valentine dinner here. I had the most tender and wonderfully spiced lamb chops, and she had a paneer dish. We enjoy their Kamasutra cocktails with the meal. The management gifted all guests with a plant cutting in a vase to take home and nurture, like the love that we were celebrating, and I loved that gesture. read more

We have been dining at India for at least 10 years . It has gone through phases of serving great food and terrible food! Let me explain why I think tonight's meal was overpriced, under spiced and well.... Not very nice! The service was excellent which is why I gave it 2 stars and not one. The food came way too fast, why is this a problem? Because it shows that the curry dishes are not freshly cooked, they are waiting in pans to scoop out and add the meat, fish or whatever type of meat/Veg you choose, a great way to serve lots of people FAST. The food was bland, completely flavorless and boring. The rice was undercooked. So, India is going through its 'not so good ' stage right now . Get a new chef India and step it up ! The atmosphere is great and the staff are pleasant. If you want proper Indian food with flavor, choose "Chaska" in warwick or "Rasoi" just up the street . I'm really not sure what's going on here. I've been coming to India for years, back when they had their Warren location and the food was always spectacular. Came back the other night after about a year or so, and I wasn't impressed. Let's start with the positive: their naan is still heavenly. It's a lot softer, fluffier, and more pancake-like than most other naan, which may not be everyone's cup of tea but I love it. The honey ginger naan is an absolute treat. I decided to order the staple Indian entrée: chicken tikka masala, which I've had countless times before. What could go wrong? It came out and immediately I could tell from the color that they had changed the recipe. Where it was once vibrant and red, this curry was brown. It was lacking serious spice and I wasn't getting that sweetness from the tomato puree. It also needed more dairy. I like my curry creamy! It was just...off. Before handing us the check, the waitress offered us free dessert in return for writing a 5-star review on Google. Blech. So tacky. Please don't resort to this. What's going on here, India? My favorite Indian restaurant in Rhode Island; to put things into perspective, there's not too many to choose from around here. However, the service, ambiance, and food was always great. The last time I went, they were offering henna tattoos and another day I went, they had belly dancers. Cons: on street parking which sucks if it's winter or raining; which is like all the time in RI. I ordered a goat vindaloo dish last time and asked for spicy; their spicy is no joke! I couldn't eat it and I'm a spicy veteran (ate chili peppers since I was 4 years old). So I suggest when they ask if you want spicy, go with medium if you like spicy or mild if you don't like spicy. It gets busy especially on weekend evenings so make reservations. I came here a few times, once for a birthday so we had a big group and they were accommodating and got our orders out quick and correctly. A group of us went to dinner at India Restaurant after work. There were six of us on a Thursday evening around 7 PM and we were seated within 10 minutes. We were immediately greeted at the door and appreciated the staff's friendliness. We decided to have a drink at the bar while we waited. The drinks were strong and very tasty! I got the Nirvana cocktail which was vodka-based and had a lot of ginger in it which I loved. The atmosphere was sophisticated and lively. Our waitress for the evening was Tita. Tita was incredibly funny, attentive, and friendly. She always made sure we had our drinks filled and checked on us often. I ordered the special biryani dish and upgraded to a Thali. The portion size of the entree/thali was perfect! We also got dessert which was equally delicious! Overall we each had a wonderful time and enjoyed a night out after a long and stressful week at work. This is the best Indian spot I've tried. The restaurant itself has a great atmosphere. There's a really pretty patio to sit on, lights hanging outside and throughout the restaurant, and a big bar. I went on a weekend for their lunch buffet and probably ate way too much! Everything was delicious. The chicken tikka masala is always my favorite. With the lunch buffet, you get all you can eat for $16 and you also get to pick what kind of naan bread you want out of their six different flavors. There was also a woman inside doing henna which was pretty cool. I'd like to go back for dinner on a date night when it's dark and the lights are all lit. The service wasn't excellent especially for sitting right at the bar, but it turned out alright since we got the buffet which was help yourself. It took a little while to get drinks though. I would really like to give this a 2 1/2 stars as we went to the lunch buffet and it was hit or miss on the dishes. It's lovely inside, the service was quick and someone was always available to refill our drinks. Since I am not that familiar with Indian food, I opted for the lunch buffet. I loved the lemon rice, chicken tikki masala, but didn't care for the kale salad or lentil soup. Loved the fresh naan. I really enjoyed my meal here. I had the weekend special Thali feast with a variety of things. My choices were the GOBHI ALOO (cauliflower/potato), SAAG PANEER (spinach), and CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA. I was not disappointed. The garlic Naan was fresh and delicious as well. To drink, I had a mango Lassi. This is by far one of the best Indian restaurants I have been to. The veggie samosa was the only thing I would skip. It was not very flavorful due to crust and filling. The plates were larger than I imagined coming out. The price was very reasonable and agreeable. The best Indian I've had in the Providence area so far! My husband and I went for the buffet on Sunday and everything was delicious. The buffet was perfect for me because it had everything I would have ordered anyways -all included. The chicken tikka masala was SO good, the rice was very nice as well and the naan was the best I've had in a while. I also liked how I could try other Indian dishes that I normally wouldn't have ordered as well. I forgot what it was called but the dish with chickpeas was very good. The banana almond ice cream was super creamy and delicious, save room for that! FYI you have to order the naan from your server and they'll bring it to the table warm. When you first walk in your greeted to a Bollywood movie playing in the wall, traditional Indian music can be heard faintly and, when we went, they had an in house henna artist that was nice and engaged trying to get people to henna their hand. So needles to say the atmosphere was great! Exactly the point we wanted to come here. We had a reservation for 7 and was seated at 720 which wasn't terrible considering they were truly packed! Upon being seated we were offered beverages, me and my gf decided to go with the house margaritas which were HUGE!!! Very worth it, and they were delicious. We started with the mussels appetizer which was perfect, just the right amount of spice to remind you where you are. For entrees I opted for the curry which included Goat on the bone, I was trying for the life of me to remember the name but I'm positive I wouldn't have been able to spell it anyway. Now be warned, it is very spicy, even though I was told it was on the lower spicy side. Someone lied or I turned into a softy cause that s@&$ was not on the lower end of spice! I wanted a place where we could get delicious food and sit outside and India came thru with both. We went last night and sat outside on the side patio. I loved all the different seating options they had... high tops, low tops, front patio, side pation, indoors, outdoors, the gorgeous bar, dining room, semi-private rooms, and loved loved the bar seats at those huge windows where you can sit outside but still be part of the main bar area. The decor is great, love all the lanterns over the bar and the music added a great feel to the night as well. I got the mango lassi with booze. Get it. I forgot the name but it was incredible. We ordered the chicken skewers for an appetizer and boy where those incredible. These are not like most skewers as the chicken was so plump and delicious. Juicy, flavorful and cooked perfectly. I loved the sauce that accompanied them. For my entree I ordered the chicken tikka masala and after I enjoyed this dish for a bit my server came over with an entirely new dish and apologized. She had grabbed the wrong plate of food and I was actually eating the chicken korma I think she said. Anyhow, I was totally cool with it and will eat my original dish for lunch today. 3.5 stars. I've never given half stars before, so here's my reasoning why this place is getting it: First of all, this establishment is deceiving. From the outside, I wasn't expecting it to be so beautiful on the inside as it was. Just the patio area itself before entering inside is super unique. My friend and I had dinner by the window at 7 one summer evening, and it still could have used some light. Inside is super beautiful and romantic. Especially the bar area, wow! Drinks: We ordered both the alcoholic and non-alcoholic Mango Lassi. Although they both were delicious, don't bother ordering the alcoholic version! There's barely any booze and simply a waste of money - no mango vodka to be found. Food: (Appetizer) Garlic Naan bread = Pretty good. Super soft which we weren't expecting for naan bread, but delicious nonetheless. (Appetizer) Spicy Steamed Mussels = Not my favorite! I don't like spicy; so why did we order it? I've never had Indian cuisine before, so I was down to try whatever - even if it would make my taste buds scream lol. For the entree I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, a staple Indian dish. Delicious and not spicy. And what a huge meal! Barely ate half! Dessert: the Banana Walnut ice cream was incredible. Freshly made and so delicious! 2 could share this, but there might be some fighting over it; it's just that good. Although I'm not one for spicy, this place is great. I have known India for years now, I'm surprised to see that I haven't written a review for them... A trip to providence pulls me to India restaurant for lunch or dinner. The space has been updated recently and now looks more contemporary, I love it. The staff and food are exceptional outstanding. Even the menu has new additions... My favorite pick here would be the chats. But I love to eat everything on the menu, so delicious. The outdoor seating is fabulous in summer. Honey and ginger naan bread - comes with two types of dipping sauces (one spicy, one not) - very well cooked 3. Kale salad - light, fresh, well-chopped, lightly dressed (I added some of the dipping sauces for more flavor) - definitely worth subbing in the rice for the salad. 4. Not only did this place have great food and drinks, but it was also well decorated and had a lovely ambience! Very cute ceiling lights inside, and nice outdoor seating with a lot of plants. There was even a lady inside offering free henna tattoos which was cool. The coffee martini was my favorite drink, and the samosas and chaat were delicious.
