I stopped by here the evening of Nov. 3rd dining alone. Ordered the lamb vindaloo (medium spice) and peshwari naan. Everything about my experience was excellent. The server I had (a young female) was very attentive. Re-filled my water and checked up on me etc. The food had just the right amount of spice (vindaloo) and sweetness (peshwari naan) and they had some interesting pet videos on a television screen (I'm used to seeing Bollywood clips/music videos in Indian restaurants so this was an interesting change. While I was dining, I overheard a woman state that she had accidentally left her purse in the parking lot and the staff found it and worked to be able to contact her and return it to her. She was ecstatic and insisted on leaving a tip for the staff (which was refused). I'm happy to support this place and recommend it to others. It exceeded my expectations. read more

Wow! My daughter and I managed to slip in as the last customers of the day. I was worried that we might not get the best from this restaurant. My worries were unfounded. Our meals were amazing! I ordered a Chicken Malai Kabab and my daughter ordered Chicken Curry. We shared our meals together because they both looked amazing. We were really amazed how fresh and delicious our meals were. We enjoyed this place for dinner. The Mullagatawny Soup was not the best I've ever had as I'm used to it having more robust curry flavor with lemon. This one was ok but more like a different soup. I think perhaps there are different versions of Mullagatawny from various regions of India? The mixed pakora's were quite nice - I recommend trying that. Super good food, I've never really had Indian food before and I'm pleased to say my first experience with it came from Deeya. I've had the Tikka Masala and the Chicken Curry so far, both were extremely good with just enough spice to make my nose run a little but not enough to set me on fire luckily. The BF and I had been wanting to try out Deeya for quite some time, so we recently made the decision to stop in for dinner on a Saturday evening. When we arrived there was no wait and we were seated right away, although the place was not totally empty, but not packed either. It took quite a while for the server to come by for our drink order and to drop off menus. Although we browsed the menu for a bit, I pretty much knew what I wanted from the start, the usual: vegetables samosas for an app, garlic naan and an order of butter chicken. My BF never tried Indian food before this, and since I know the portion sizes are normally huge, we just decided to share the butter chicken. The samosas came out first. They had a decent flavor but were a bit soft and could have been cooked a bit longer. The 4 sauces that came with them were excellent and helped to add a bit of spice. The garlic naan and our butter chicken came out next. The naan was a bit overpowering with the garlic flavor and we would probably order plain next time. The butter chicken was absolutely delicious in every way. Good portion size for 2 people sharing. Since we both like a bit of "kick", we ordered it medium spicy. Let me just say, Indian "medium" is like what I would consider hot for sure. We were both drinking water like it was going out of style. When we mixed the chicken and sauce with the naan and rice, it did help to cut the spicyness a bit. Overall, still excellent and satisfying. The only slight downside was the slow service here. Throughout our whole experience, we had 2 different servers simultaneously, yet they were inattentive at times and we had to keep flagging them down for more drinks and the check. Then, when the check came out, they had charged us for 15 butter chickens(!) rather than the 1 we had ordered and it took a while for them to come back with a corrected receipt. Would I come here again? Yes, most definitely. I will just be prepared for a bit of slow service and will order the chicken mild next time. But I will be back & will be ready for a tasty, savory Indian meal. Overall fantastic meal. read more

One of the better Indian restaurants in the area in my opinion. Authentic Indian food and quality is hard to find at many of its competitors in the area, but this place delivers. The Seekh Kebabs were tasty and sizzling hot as they should be. My staple dish at Indian restaurants, Chicken Tikka Masala, also did not disappoint. It had a perfect balance of flavor and heat. Another update: the new guy who works there is so rude. And tried to change me 6.99 for my one year old. He played it off like "oh, I thought he was 5". haha smooth but I'm not paying that. Then my husband waited so long for more water that he just got up and got it self. Then my card had FOUR pending cheer he's from them. This place HAD it together when the women were running the joint. But with this new guy- forget it. We won't be back. I've lived in the Clearwater area for two years now and have tried different places but have always come back to Deeya because it is the best. I don't even try other Indian places anymore. I would like to share a story of one of my to go orders there. I originally ordered off of Bite Squard (which I'm not happy about). Some friends and I ordered a ton of food and we were drinking so that is why we opted to use Bite Squad to deliver. After waiting for two hours, the Bite Squad order was cancelled and I got Hangry! I was so upset because I wanted some good Indian food but couldn't drive due to the drinks I had earlier. I called the restaurant and asked if my food was ever prepared. They told me it was ready 1.5 hours ago and was still sitting there. The person on the phone right away offered to ask the manager about delivering it themselves. And guess what? THEY DID!! They went completely out of their way and used their personal vehicle to drive to Dunedin and give me my food. I am forever grateful and so happy with this restaurant. Everyone needs to go there! Deeya has moved from East Bay to Gulf to Bay, which is lucky for me, since it's now closer to home. Needless to say, we've been twice in the last week! Once for lunch and once for dinner. I had the lamb vindaloo both times. It's divine. Hot, well spiced and a decent sized portion. Himself had the chicken tikka masala (and loved it) for dinner, and overstuffed his belly at the lunch buffet. I'm not a big chicken fan, but the vegetarian dishes were delicious! I wish there were negative stars that I could give. I have one of the worst experiences in this restaurant. I was with my guests who were visiting us from Virginia and we were at Clearwater beach. Being the closest Indian restaurant, we thought we would give it a try. However, it was a train-wreak experience as first of all, the staff was cold and seemed as if they are working in a graveyard. Secondly, we ordered two appetizers and 1 entree but all of them were way below expectations. The chicken was uncooked, the curry was bad. We had to order additional curt to make samosa chat worth eating. On top of that, I went to the manager to highlight the shortcomings and all he did was nod and do nothing about it. No apologies or any efforts to manage the situation, as if he was comfortable with the way things are going and not worried for repeat customers as this is a tourist destination. Finally, when we left, we saw a look of irritation and annoyance on their faces. I had to cut a sorry figure in front of my guests whom I wanted to treat with respect and they were disrespected in our city. Please do not go to this restaurant. Please. read more
