Delicious curries! Visited here for a tasting plate and got Gol gappa, Tandoori soya, Daal makhani, Mango chicken, Kashmiri pulao, & Spinach paneer naan. I really loved the Mango chicken, it was refreshing, sweet, and I liked how I could really taste that they use real mango in it! I also really enjoyed the Kashmiri pulao (a rice with dried fruits, saffron and fresh fruits)- it had raisins in my rice and it was a cool surprise! I enjoyed it! Definitely will be back for the mango chicken!!

Solid Indian place in the Kitsilano area. This place is located upstairs. Parking is available on the side streets. The interior is quite ornate, with fancy wood decorations (trim?) running the length of the walls. There is a N facing patio as well for those who prefer eating outside. Staff were friendly. As a free appetizer they provide papadam with a green chutney. Definitely hit the spot. Nice and crisp. Special mention. Can't remember which dishes buddy and I had. One was chicken and one was lamb. Both were seriously tasty. Buddy and I asked them to crank the spiciness level to maximum. The food ended up medium spicy, but the waitress asked us if we wanted some green chili on the side. This is the way to go. The chilis add some really nice heat when mixed in with the sauce. The garlic naan was hot and fluffy and not too greasy, which was pleasant. Great for wiping up all that sauce. Pricing was reasonable and we left happy. Will definitely be back at some point. Recommended.

We got an order of nan, basmati rice, Aloo Gobi, and Bhuna Gosht.

This place hands down has the best nan in town. Fresh out of the stove/ oven (whatever they used to cook it), soft like a pillow and crispy on the bottom. We were planning to get the rotti or pratha and I'm so glad our server strongly recommended that we try their nan bread. We just got the plain one and I loved it. For mains, we got Aloo Gobi and Bhuna Gosht - a vegetarian and a lamb dish. Both were delicious. Good picks even though I can probably count all the times I've been to an Indian restaurant with all the fingers I got! I didn't find either of them spicy at all. Either I've built up my spicy tolerance over the years or they gave us mild assuming we're newbies because how long it took us to study the menu, haha! The Aloo Gobi was a cauliflower and potato cooked in onion and garlic dish. The Bhuna Gosht was lamb pulled of the skewer and cooked with tomato, onion and green pepper. We were expecting the former to come with sauce and the latter to be dry but to our surprise, it came out to be the opposite. We also got an order of basmati rice. All in all, it was a perfect meal that just hit the right spot with a spoonful of extra per dish. 10/10 would come back again. The service was also great. The server was polite and attentive. It was also a quieter night with only a one or two other parties of customers during our time there. Perhaps it was because it's a weekday.

I would also describe the food as modern since there are some cool fusion dishes such as the mango burrata (I didn't end up ordering this but I wish I did!) I love lamb biryanis and this place has the most colorful and aesthetic lamb biryani I've ever seen. The samosas were also plated with a lot of creativity and artistic touches. Overall the food was very flavorful. I'm already thinking about my next bowl of biryani!

I want to start this review by giving a big shoutout to Pemba who was our server, he was so kind and took such good care of us and recommended really good items based on what we wanted. Everything I tried from here was 10/10! Some stand out items - :: Bombay pomfret fry - OH! The masala and coating on this was sooo good we were sucking on the bones till the very end. Such a great appetizer! :: Lasooni palak burrata - I was a little apprehensive about this at first because burrata and palak didn't seem like something I would want to try but I was wrong! This was one of my favourite dishes. It was such a delicious fusion item. For dessert, I would recommend getting their soan papdi malai khwaab and their malai ghewar. Not too sweet, just perfect. For drinks, aam pana with gin is the way to go. I really cannot wait to come back and order everything again!

The channa bhatura was so good, and not something I find in most Indian restaurants. My kids shared a butter chicken entree and still had leftovers. Naan was also hot, fresh, and very good. The mango lassi is large and fancy-looking and was also a hit with the kids. Weekday lunchtime wasn't too crowded, we were seated quickly and the food arrived in a reasonable time. Service was kind and efficient. The inside is casual but nice. We'd definitely return!

The menu has a lot of options but not too many so that's nice. We ordered the gobi Manchurian to start and it was very yummy, but spicier than expected. At first we asked for a medium spice level when asked during ordering but after eating this appetizer we had to change it to mild for the rest of the order. I would say the spice levels are a lot higher than other places as someone who likes spicy food normally so keep in mind. We also got butter and garlic naans, paneer, and dal tadka. The naan wasn't cooked all the way at first so we had to request another well cooked, and it was better the second time. The paneer and dal was good as well, and so was the basmati rice. The quantity of rice was a lot too. Overall the food and experience here was good.

I was not expecting this restaurant to be as big as it is. The space here is truly massive, and…read morewhile it was mostly empty when we came at around 2:30 - I can picture the hubbub of activity that would be present during peak dinner hours. This does seem to be a highly recommended place to eat Indian food in Surrey. I had the Non-Veg Thali, which isn't on the menu, but the waitress helpfully let us know about. It's very customizable - and I went with garlic naan, rice, two tandoori chicken pieces, lamb vindaloo, and shahi paneer - all in a single plate! Pretty much everything was excellent. I'm not even sure where to start. The garlic naan was fantastic. Soft, buttery, with just a slight hint of garlic and lightly charred on the outside. I could honestly eat this by itself and be satisfied. Garlic naan is a staple of what I order whenever eating Indian food, and this might be the best one I've had. The shahi paneer was also great; tomato-forward, creamy, and the paneer was super soft. The lamb vindaloo was a real standout. It was immensely flavorful - not lacking for spice at all - but you don't just taste capsaicin - you taste all the cumin, cardamom, and garam mixed in with the curry. But the lamb itself is the best part of the curry; it's so tender and juicy. The absolute peak, though, was the tandoori chicken. These were two large dark meat pieces, which were cooked to absolute perfection - retaining so much juice and fat. The skin was a perfect deep orange, seasoned with a ton more spices. It's like eating fried chicken but without the breading, but this was arguably even better. The masala fries were the only thing kind of a miss - as they lacked any masala. The price of the thali was only 23 CAD. That's a pretty insane deal for how much food you get - I was unable to finish everything on my plate despite being very hungry. Honestly two people could share this and be satisfied. When you consider how much sharing and new orders for bread, rice, and curries goes on at your typical Indian restaurant, this is crazy good value. Overall, I would classify this as the best Indian food I've had outside of Asia. 9.5/10
