Delicious high quality Indian food. One of our favorite meals in recent memory because of the intense flavors in the dishes. We also appreciate dishes being clearly labeled as vegan or not. We loved the aloo saag and the Bengan burthha. The whole wheat vegetarian paratha was a treat as well with fun veggie fillings. We were also very pleasantly surprised that our plates came with a serving of Chana masala on the side next to the rice. Perhaps they knew we loved chickpeas??? Great service and nice ambiance. Really great experience! I love restaurants that have things marked vegan so it's clear and there isn't confusion when ordering. My husband and I shared the vegetarian snack platter and dal shorba soup. The soup was out of this world and flavorful. My entree was mixed veggies in Indian spices and my husband got the chicken tikka masala. Each dish was served with rice and veggies which I loved. Both entrees were yummy, nice portions as well. We also ordered paratha (I think that's what it was calles) bread, which was stuffed with hearty veggies. Overall, very lovely. Only thing that was a little odd was the amount of different staff waiting on us, made it a bit confusing..but they were all very friendly. Definitely coming back. read more

Such good food! I would definitely recommend trying Indigo when you're in town. The portions were almost perfect - a little on the bigger side, but not by much. The flavors were PERFECT for everything. The meats were also cooked perfectly. Coming from DC, and after living in NYC, I feel a little spoiled with Indian cuisine, and frankly, this was right up there with the best. Besides the food, the restaurant was clean and on the quiet side - a much needed respite from the loud craziness of the beach. This place has below average food and above average prices. For the expensive price, I was expecting the food to taste better. I am guessing the price hike is due to it being on the tourist strip. The butter chicken was spiced to American standards (no flavor at all). The saag paneer was WAY too salty (it was unbearable to eat). The garlic naan was flaccid and the garlic wasn't even toasted so we pretty much ate raw garlic. The naan was also barely buttered. I've been to numerous Indian restaurants in the Northern Virginia region and I am not impressed by this restaurant. read more

WOW. Best Indian food I've had in years! Our party of four had a lovely dining experience at Indigo on an off-season Wednesday. We were warmly greeted and the entire staff was gracious and welcoming. The decor is open and attractive, right down to the wall coverings and artwork. But more importantly, the food was all top-notch. The menu is a full range of Indian greatest hits... samosas, pakora, daal, naan, paratha, tandoor dishes, lamb, chicken, fish, shrimp, and biryani. Our party went the vegetarian route with samosas, Chana masala, malai kofta, aloo gobhi, baingan bharta, and roti. The staff was accommodating of a food allergy, the food was nicely presented, and everything arrived promptly. (Photos show the dishes after our first servings went to our plates, so it's not as appealing as when first delivered.) Everything was well-prepared and delicious, and our server was very attentive. Everything seemed made to order and freshly prepared, with each dish being an excellent representation if not the best version any of us had eaten prior (especially the aloo gobhi and malai kofta). Entrees come with rice (no upcharge!) and a tasty vegetable side. Oh, did I mention... complimentary papadum to start and half-price wine on Wednesday! We could not decide where to eat and a lot of places are closed on Wednesdays. We stumbled upon Indigo and it was lovely!!!! Food was flavorful, the staff was extremely attentive. We ordered the palak paneer, Gobi masala, garlic naan, and chicken jalfrazie. Perfect amount of spice in every dish. Flushy fresh rice as well. I appreciate them asking for our preferred spice level. My cousin and I went to give this place a second try. We sat down ordered drinks and ordered one entree to split. The waiter was incredibly annoying about this. He insisted that we order another dish as he felt one entree was not enough for 2 individuals. We ordered one entree to gauge if we would be willing to eat anything else on the menu an man are we glad we didn't order more food. The chefs special was horrible, strange shaped chicken breast with next to know flavor. This is your only option for Indian food in or around Rehoboth Beach but man I wish it was at least edible. My husband and I had dinner here tonight. We've been here a few times since moving here, so I feel like it's time to leave a review. We ordered samosas with extra tamarind chutney, butter chicken seasoned Indian spicy (hot), saag paneer, navratan korma and Keema Nan. The samosas were quite nice and came with the requested extra tamarind chutney, which is a plus for service in my opinion. The butter chicken was delicious and spicy as requested with plenty of the decadent sauce. The saag paneer was good quality but it had a bit of bitter greens instead of just spinach, which wasn't my preference, but that's not saying it wasn't good, especially if you like the more pungent kick. The Keema (ground lamb stuffed) naan bread was quite good too, but the navratan korma was the star of the evening. It was exceptional. I will order it every single time I come here from now on. I've had this at many Indian restaurants and nothing else comes close. All in all this was an excellent meal with superior service. read more

Had dinner at Indigo, 44 Rehoboth Ave. First time eating here and I will come back! Food was delicious. Instead of bread they start you off with this crispy flatbread and 3 killer sauces. No clue what the sauces were but they were really tasty. For the main entree, I had Khara Pasanda. This was juicy cubes of lamb marinated overnight then simmered in a light sauce with yogurt, onions and mild spices. The lamb was so tender i could cut it with my fork. Delish. The service was spot on too. All in all I give Indigo 5 stars. Now the best part. They're off-season Monday night special is 25% off the entire bill... including the alcohol! Great authentic Indian cuisine. The white table cloth restaurant is a nice addition to the beach area. The wait staff was very friendly and service was excellent. On Monday nights during the off season they offer 25% off the entire check, including beer and wine. If you never eaten Indian this is a great opportunity to sample the cuisine at a very reasonable cost, as most Indian cuisine is fairly expense. I will be back. read more

I just moved here from NJ and I am indian so I was surprised that this restaurant hit the mark with their Chana Masala, Veg Jalfrezi, and Chicken Tikka Masala. I liked that they catered to my higher spice level despite the fact that it appeared externally as an indian restaurant catering more towards american tourists (i was too quick to judge!) Overall great atmosphere as well, very good service and nice staff, will definitely be coming again! read more

Not so good. The Tarka dahl was made with black lentils instead of yellow. And it had kidney beans in it. I've had this dish all over the world including India and never seen kidney beans. It was bittersweet coming to Indigo. Walking in we were immediately recognized and happily greeted by the Kumars, the long-time proprietors of my family's favorite restaurant in Annapolis before they moved to the beach and opened Indigo. They remembered our preferences despite it being over a year since we saw them in Annapolis. The flavors were spot on to those we greatly enjoyed in their previous location. I had the Khara Pasanda and my wife had the Bhartha, a dish she claims that nowhere else does it as well and tasty as theirs. The Chef's special was shared by our 1 and 3 year-old, a delicious, yet safe dish for anyone curious to try Indian for the first time. While we were excited to them doing so well, I must admit I was a bit jealous they are not a quick drive away. Their traditional, regionally-reflective flavors and superb hosting should be experienced by everyone. We will certainly make the modest trek again to enjoy Indigo. read more

We were beyond impressed with this new Indian restaurant in Rehoboth Beach, DE. As natives of Pittsburgh, PA, where there is a large Hindi community, we eat at Indian restaurants quite frequently and believe we have some of the best in the country. To put it plainly, Indigo measures up against the best. Authentic Indian cuisine offered up by a business owned and staffed by folks from India, and a welcome addition to the Rehoboth area. Our party of six was blown away by the ambiance from the moment we walked in; it was clear a great deal of love and attention had been put into making the feel of the place authentic. The staff were incredibly friendly. We had chai, mango lassi, and spiced tea to drink, and for food we enjoyed the butter chicken, the tandoor chef's specialty, chicken jalfrazie, aloo saag, shrimp biryani, and chiken kurma, in addition to the usual naan. The side of rice was the perfect amount for the food we got, and that it came with a side of chana masala was a nice surprise. The Papadum was something we were accustomed to from our favorite places in Pittsburgh, but it came with a third dipping sauce that was an onion tomato blend which was outstanding. We were also thrilled to be told that the chai was free refills. Price-wise, it was no worse than any other Indian place I've ever visited; about $20 a plate. The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly. They were on top of every detail. The owner stopped by our table himself several times to see how things were, and even chatted with us for a good while. Overall an absolutely outstanding experience. If you're looking for something in Rehoboth that's outside the standard beach fare and outside the standard "famous but bad" pizza on the boardwalk, check out Indigo by all means. You won't be sorry. As a footnote regarding the comparatively few one-star and two-star reviews below; I have no idea where these people came up with their complaints but after reading their specific reviews, to be blunt, they all need to just check their privilege. read more

We have passed by Indigo while walking the avenue many times and finally decided to visit with friends. We started with Garlic Naan bread with three sauces that were very good. The three ladies got Butter Chicken and two men lamb. All dishes were very good even though my spicy lamb was more curry than spicy. Good food at a reasonable price. read more

The good: Food is delicious! Everything we had had wonderful flavors. Truly something we needed in this area. They have also done a good job on the decor from the old establishment. It is a beautiful restaurant. The not so good: Slooooowwww. Almost 2 hours for Lunch and it was almost entirely empty., but Im sure this will improve. Our server, and someone who appeared to be the owner or manager were very nice though. Also, expensive $$$, three people for Lunch with no alcohol was nearly $100!! 1 app and 3 entrees where we had to share a rice and a small cup of beans as the veg, and 1 bread. For lunch, thats high. Same menu is served all day. Hopefully they will make some adjustments, but I am going back for the delicious food for sure!! read more

Open barely a month, my party of 15 went earlier this week. The staff was great and the food very, very good. While I have had better Indian food in metro areas, for a beach resort this was excellent. This is a family run restaurant. The son is the owner, and father and uncle work the front. While the menu is not large everything we had was very well made. The portions are worth the money and easy to share for lunch or try a few different dishes for dinner. Everything came quickly from the attentive staff, who were happy to give recommendations and describe dishes, especially spice level for those who prefer it a little mild.
