(takeout review) some butter chicken garlic naan takeout + a quick trip to the dispensary a few doors down = the DEFINITION of a perfect night. chicken always cooked perfectly, mango lassi alwaysss hits the spot, and the tamarind chutney is just fabulous, this place is never a miss. i haven't eaten in the restaurant yet so i can't speak on any service aspects to indika house but they are always nice on the phone and at pickup. i'll also add they always wrap everything very secure so i never have any issues with spillage.

The food here isn't bad. On my journey of trying out every Indian restaurant in Brooklyn, I would put this place somewhere in the upper middle. It took about an hr for my food to be delivered which is a little long but not terrible. Chana Saag: 8/10 This was my favorite thing from here. It was very well seasoned and packed a lot of flavor and cooked almost to perfection Chicken Vindaloo: This was 6/10. I think the biggest issue with it was how oily it was which was a bit surprising. It also was a very small amount of chicken compared to many other places Ive eaten from and the chicken was also a bit tough and chewy which usually means it was over cooked or likely they reheated leftovers which caused the chicken to over cook. Flavor wise it was pretty good which helped boost its rating. I would definitely give this place another chance to try the Indo-chinese options in the menu and to get some of that Chana Saag again!

Seriously unexpectedly high quality Indian food in the shadow of the elevated JMZ tracks, right by the Myrtle-Broadway stop. In addition to the typical Indian takeout curries, Indika House stands out by having a robust Indo-Chinese menu and selection of chaat. The fried eggplant chaat was something I've never tried before and was a very satisfying appetizer. Hakka noodles and their signature curry were excellent as well.

Not good, dingy sketchy area and took a long time for food to come out. I spilled lassi all over me because they couldn't be bothered to put a cap on their lassi, wrapped it with plastic and it got all over me. The only good thing I ate was the biriyani, everything else was mediocre or less than subpar. Their meat tastes boiled and overcooked and thrown in as an afterthought, not really cooked down correctly with the gravy. The person cooking doesn't know what they're doing. The seating area is nice but poorly kept and uninviting. All the tables had chairs on top so basically they're not welcoming you in to sit. So don't do it. The 1 star is for the helpful and informative man sitting behind the desk taking orders, he was nice and accommodating with what he had. Don't recommend and won't be back. Completely overpriced and waste of time.

Ordered delivery and was pretty disappointed in the quality. I ordered chicken tikka masala and 2 orders of garlic naan. Both of the garlic naan bread were very stale and just didn't taste fresh at all. The tikka masala tasted very sweet and although I appreciated the amount of chicken, it did taste dry and just lacked that tenderness. For the price paid and quality, I'm not sure if I'll try this place out again.

Indika house was a great experience! The food was served hot and was delicious. I wish I'd gotten the paneer spicy, but other than that I have no complaints. My favorite dish was the gobi manchurian, it was so crispy and savory. The server was really kind and attentive. He did a great on of checking in but was not too overbearing. The restaurant itself is a bit small. The seating itself isn't bolted to the ground, so it moved around a bit. For an Indian person though, the restaurant was on the same level looks wise as restaurants in the suburbs. Also, a great thing about this place is that it's reasonably priced, for Brooklyn standards. It's definitely a staple for me now.

One of the best Indian restaurants I have tried in NYC! Everything is well made and tastes so good. I highly recommend the mulligatawny soup, aloo gobhi, chicken biryani, chicken tikka masala, lamb chops, saag paneer and mango lassi. Anik is very attentive and makes sure everyone is taken care of! The restaurant's art work is also beautiful.

We were in Brooklyn for some official jobs. Were looking for some Indian cuisine and Indika House popped up. Went to the restaurant and it's amazing art works they have on the walls. The servers were on top their service from the beginning to the last. It's a fusion restaurant mixed with Indo Chinese. The foods were delicious and exactly what we wanted. Nice textured chicken tikka, butter chicken, gobi Manchurian, chicken gassi and Indika chicken curry. Loved it. Will come back again definitely. Thank you

This is probably one of the worst Indian food deliveries I have ever had. The reviews for this restaurant seemed promising, so I was excited to try them for the first time. First impression is a lasting one and this was extremely disappointing. I also had a stomach ache a few hours later resulting in a few early morning bathroom runs. Chicken Korma is a favorite of mine and it is the dish I will always order first whenever I am ordering Indian. I am not sure if my late order left the kitchen unprepared, but this dish was watery and flavorless. It tasted like actual water was added as it seems to be missing not only salt but actual spice. It was so confusing. The chicken was tender, but looked and tasted as though it has been boiled. The naan looked good, but was rubbery, most likely due to transport. It was not enjoyable. I also ordered lamb Rogan Josh to try for the first time, but because the Korma wasn't good, I lost my appetite all together, so I will have to try that dish elsewhere.

Craving Indian cuisine, I saw this place pop up on Uber Eats, with a deal for $18, which included an appetizer, naan bread, basmati rice, along with an entrée. I selected Fish Tikka and Lamb Rogan Josh. I also decided to order Rose Lassi (instead of my customary Mango Lassi, because I wanted to try something different). When I checked the order to make sure it went through, I noticed that I accidently chose the Sweet Lassi, so I immediately called the restaurant and they made sure I received the Rose Lassi. I enjoyed this drink, which was a beautiful pale pink color. It actually truly tasted like rose in a light and aromatic way. It was also delightfully creamy and smooth. I just would have liked it to be a bit more thick. The naan was decent - Very puffy and soft, moist, slightly charred, with butter on top. The Fish Tikka had a full bodied lemony flavor, made using tandoori masala and yogurt, The fish taste was quite strong, and the pickled red onion and red pepper was too much for me. As for the Lamb Rogan Josh, I had forgotten to request the dish to be mild, so it was too spicy for my tastes. The rice and Rose Lassi helped with that though. There were notes of cardamom, cloves, many spices, onion, ginger, and garlic in the sauce. I liked that there was plenty of lamb, which was tender and juicy. There are quite a few appetizing sounding menu items, so I would be open to trying this place out again in the future.

Ordered take out from here because of all the great reviews and was super disappointed. The naan was stale / hard and the malai kofta was definitely old (the kofta balls were attempt to reheat something that was frozen and was still partly frozen). Definitely will not be ordering from here again read more

This is easily some of the best and most delicious Indian food I have ever eaten on the East Coast. I've always been disappointed by Indian food in New York but after Indika House I think I've found the perfect Indian Restaurant where almost every single thing we've ordered has been finger licking good! Everything from the Lamb Biryani to the Mango Lassi to the Chefs Special Lamb Curry and the Kababs are delicious. You can't go wrong with this place. Must try! read more

Bomb! Probably the best Indian meal I've had since I dined in London. I got the take out special based on recommendations by other Yelpers. The special includes bread, an app and an entree. The naan was delicious, especially when dipped in the coconut rice sauce. The veggie samosas were flakey and super flavorful. Finally, I got the Lamb Rogan Josh which was tender af! Highly recommend this spot. Next time I'll try something a little spicier like a vindaloo. Can't wait! read more

Indian is my favorite cuisine and I am on a mission to try every Indian restaurant in the NYC area. I have to say this place is unique in quite a few ways. I have never seen an atmosphere like this, and it's a huge plus, let's call it "Hipster Indian"", usually I'd mean that in a "this place is pretentious, stay away", for this I mean it seemed fun and likely to draw the "in crowd". There is a huge jungle style mural and decor everywhere. I have to admit I don't get it (they are combining Africa and India?) but it works. What was also different, is it seems they really turn the lights up (I'm used to darkly lit Indian places). It is really big for an Indian restaurant, and the place was almost packed midday!! Maybe because it's right by a busy subway, or maybe it's just THAT goods. I usually don't spend so much time on atmosphere, but it was a big plus here, especially when considering that the amount of people didn't slow down the service, or keep it feeling likee a "family atmosphere"-I was served by a younger bearded Indian? Man and an older one and they seemed like father/son. Into the food, I had lamb curry lunch special in the 10 dollar range. I'd compare it to what I used to eat on 6th street year ago (Iots of Indian there). Its not as good as the places Ive recently liked best, but it a little bit more plentiful food wise than those places. What intrigued me most about the food though were the condiments and side dishes seemed unique, the daal had some flavor I'd never experienced going on, the Tamirand was thick, the naan was perfect. When such work is put into the little things it intrigues me and makes me want to go back, and especially with friends if I'm in a festive mood . (hopefully there arent lines at night). I wish this place the best And I am glad it's relatively close to home. read more

This is one of the best Indian restaurants I've ever tried. Garlic naan is warm and soft. The chicken tikka masala is delicious, the sauce is very flavorful. Im also happy that they have pickled vegetables. I always need picked vegetables/mangoes with Indian food. The biryana is also very good, I've never been a fan of that dish but the lamb was very tender and the spices in the rice is legit. read more

Being someone who has traveled throughout India, I could say that this is one of the few authentic Indian restaurants. Got the chicken gassi and this took me back when i used to visit Bangalore during the summer. Definitely very impressed, looking forward to try some of their other regional curries. read more

Found this restaurant randomly on yelp and wasn't disappointed. The naan was delicious and saag was awesome. My girlfriend bad the vegetarian curry which was very good also. My boyfriend and I had a good feeling about this restaurantwhen we walked in and saw the beautiful murals on the walls! The seats are gorgeous and the entire atmosphere is really perfectly curated for a great experience. The service is great, too. We loved the music played! We started with the chili garlic naan and beef samosas. Both very delicious! I had the lamb vindaloo and he had the Szechuan chicken. We cleaned our plates! The food was perfectly spiced and the meat was soft and tender. We will definitely be back :) read more

This place has some of the tastiest Indian food and coupled with it being right next to the subway makes it so convenient to get to. They have a couple of Desi Chinese options which I grew up with so I am especially impressed with their options. If you like spicy food, try their gobi manchurian, chicken. This place has the best chicken biryani I've had in NYC so far. In fact, I've ordered from them like 20 times and I've always loved the food. The only thing I've had that I don't like from here is the chaat, but no one can do everything right. The Indo-Chinese food is INCREDIBLE! I'll be moving to Astoria soon and I'm sad that I'll probably be outside of their delivery radius but I'll probably come visit them. read more

The most authentic and spicy AF Indian restaurant in this neighborhood by a long shot! Great flavors, well seasoned, crazy spicy. Not your typical Americanized cream and sugar filled dishes, but instead a great use of curry leaves, fresh coconut, toasted spices, chilies, vinegar, etc... flavors I haven't tasted since being in at Adda in LIC and the plethora of South Indian spots in Jersey City. Will 100% be back. Also, the complimentary Kheer (rice pudding) took me back to my childhood. So glad to live down the street from this place. read more

This is my first Yelp review and it's not like I am new to Yelp. I am OBSESSED with Yelp. I use it as a menu for most restaurants I go to and my friends make fun of me but it's how I roll. Anyway, I guess everyone has there moment where they realize it's time to stop using Yelp for the benefits and start giving back through reviews. That moment for me was tonight at Indika House. Full disclosure - I am giving this review before I even taste the food. I'll comment back and update when I do get the food, but for now, they've already earned 5 stars and beyond. I just got off the phone with a dude who I wish I got his name but he was so friken human in these insane times. I messed up my order - that's not true - I ordered and then realized there was a takeout deal and wanted to try and cancel and re-order. I called the restaurant and the guy was so chill. He worked with me, he understood I was just tryna get that deal and didn't hold it against me. He fixed the order without including annoying GrubHub service and basically threw in a naan. This just doesn't happen. People are busy and stressed and hardly ever take the time to re-work an order for some girl in Williamburg who wants to save 3 bucks. THANK YOU TO THE DUDE ON THE PHONE. You're awesome and you've got my business forever. read more

First time in (Indika House ) and YOU have to go! It's the cutest little spot in Bushwick with amazing food. The food quality is best. IT WAS FIRE!! Even though they are closed for dine in. Ordered some Vindaloo from this place and let me tell ya, she was SPICY!! I regularly order vindaloo in Brooklyn without breaking a sweat but this place REALLY brought the heat. Taste of everything was pretty good but they don't give out the little sauces! I ordered nan and samosas but none of that came with the green sauce or the tamarind or the onion stuff like most other places. This place is definitely pricier and less bang for your buck but I would probably order again. read more

The best Indian food I've had in NYC, and especially glad it's around the way here in Bushwick. It's a very unassuming spot from the outside, and has decent decor on the inside (love the colorful murals on either side of the walls). I've been here twice for lunch, and the service is great. I've had the fried okra both times as an appetizer, and this time I got the potato curry for my main. Food is banging. Spices just right. Prices are amazing for the area. This is the only spot I'll go to for Indian food in Brooklyn, and I'm so glad that it's so close to home. read more

So take this from someone who grew up eating the real thing. There are restaurants that play it safe with Indian cuisine, dialing back the spice, softening the edges for a broader audience, and then there are restaurants that simply miss the mark entirely. Unfortunately, this establishment falls into the latter category. I came with high expectations and left deeply underwhelmed, starting with the Chicken Korma. A korma lives and dies by its sauce, that slow built richness of cream, cashew, and warm spice that should coat every piece of chicken with intention. What arrived was something far more anemic: a sauce so lacking in depth that it read as little more than colored cream. Worse, the chicken itself bore all the hallmarks of having been grilled separately and dropped into the sauce as an afterthought. There was none of that tender, sauce permeated quality you get when protein and masala are cooked together properly. It tasted like two dishes that had only just met on the plate. The Malai Kofta compounded the disappointment. The kofta balls, which should be pillowy, yielding dumplings with a delicate spiced interior, arrived with the texture of compressed gravel. The density suggested these had been frozen and reheated rather than prepared fresh, a suspicion difficult to shake with every labored bite. Again, the sauce offered little salvation, essentially a thinner echo of the same flavorless base. There were, to be fair, two bright spots. The naan arrived properly blistered and soft, and the chai was competently spiced, small mercies that demonstrated the kitchen is capable of getting things right when it wants to. It makes the failures elsewhere all the more puzzling. The service was attentive and the dining room reasonably pleasant. Your server won't let you down. The room won't offend you. But ambiance and adequate bread cannot rescue cooking this careless. Indian cuisine is one of the world's great culinary traditions, complex, layered, and deeply satisfying when executed with even modest care. What was served here felt like a faint photocopy of that tradition. For those of us who know what the real thing tastes like, that gap is simply too large to overlook. The naan and chai suggest potential. The mains suggest a kitchen not yet living up to it.

Bombay Grill is one of my favorite Indian restaurants in the city. The food is gently spiced and not greasy. The last time I checked, they had an excellent health department grade. It was a challenge to find that plus an affordable lunch special. One of my other favorite Indian restaurants has had several issues with the NYC health department. The Yelp app is very helpful - it lists the health department grade after the ratings. Bombay Grill also makes excellent curries. I prefer those over the usual chicken tikka masala - although that's always good. If you order lunch, the lunch box has more variety but less of the main course. So if you want just one main dish, it's better to go without a box lunch option and just choose a standard lunch deal.

The individuals I support are on limited incomes and cannot afford meals from establishments such as yours, so they bring their own lunches while staff members purchase food and beverages from your business. A manager approached us and informed us that outside food was not permitted, even though purchases had been made. We were then asked to leave and eat outside in the hot weather. I understand that businesses have policies regarding outside food, and I respect the need to enforce them. However, I believe this situation could have been handled with greater compassion and understanding, given that the group consisted of individuals with disabilities who rely on packed lunches due to financial limitations. As someone who has consistently supported your establishment, I was disappointed by the lack of flexibility and empathy shown. Unfortunately, because of this experience, I will no longer be bringing my business or the individuals I support to your establishment. I hope this feedback encourages your management team to consider a more accommodating approach when serving members of the disability community in the future.

To be honest I wouldn't really like to write or comment about someone or restaurants. Usually I like to give second chance to a restaurant always. I moved in to the neighborhood 3 months ago and I was craving for some Indian restaurants and Indika House popped up. I saw some very nice reviews and a few bad reviews. I thought of giving it a chance and I ordered for pick up. It was around 9:30-9:45pm. I was waiting for the food and was talking to a person in the counter. Suddenly, I saw a rat running and it passed through around my legs. The person in the counter informed me that they were renovating the place and that's where it probably came from. I thought it was ok and I got my food and left the restaurant. The food was nice and hot. While I was eating the butter chicken I thought the sauce was nice but after a couple of bites, I felt like I was biting through some kind of plastic. I took the piece out of my mouth and it was chicken. Most of the chicken was burned and very hard. Then, the naan bread was all burned and when you bite into it, it felt like rubber. The first day was a hell of a night and experience. Two days ago my friends were talking to me, about trying the food again at Indika House. I was kind of hesitating but my friends were insisting because of their good reviews on yelp and google. So, I tried it again. But the service was horrible. When I ordered my food, there was a girl at the counter whose behavior seemed very unprofessional and rude. . We ordered and told to wait or come back after 30 minutes. But it wasn't ready by the time we came back. We had to wait another hour. We got our food and left for home since they aren't open for dining. We were so so disappointed about the and really made to go back to the restaurant and throw the food at whoever made it. Full of salt and and buttery taste only no other flavors from chicken tikka masala. We opened the chicken gassi which is one of their signature dishe, found a staples. As an I had really high expectations when I saw the reviews of Indika House. My friends came over from India and we wanted to go out and eat. Unfortunately, Indika House isn't open for dining. So we did take out. Everything was nice and hot. Except the kati roll and the bread. The kati roll was cold, the chicken was very dry and salty and the don't know the kati roll is supposed to be make on paratha not the tortilla. The garlic bread was so hard and mostly burnt. Also we ordered laccha paratha. We don't know what was it. I guess they don't have any ideas what is call laccha paratha. The paner tikka masala sauce was tasty but the panner is so hard and rubbery. Same thing with butter chicken the sauce was tasty but the chicken was mostly burnt and no flavor at all. It was hard to chew those chicken pieces. I have a request please stop making rubbish food and put fake reviews online and don't foolish the people. read more

The breads were all burnt and gobi manchuraian was too much cooked and so much greasy no taste at. The chicken tikka masala disgusting no flavors in the chicken. No flavors at all in the chicken the sauce is full of buttery and creamy only. Tandoori chicken not cooked properly there was blood inside the chicken.
