Stumbled across Indochine when looking for a quick dinner before the BSO, and it definitely hit the spot! The signature banh mi was unique and quite delicious, and the taro milk tea was yummy and fresh (the boba was still warm at serving). The pho was decent as well. this is my go-to viet spot in the city. my friends love their pho, but i'm not much of a soup person so i go for the vermicelli noodle bowl. it's a very casual place, you seat yourself and they have large tables to accommodate big parties. the waitstaff were very patient with my large party and our decision making. we got the dumplings to share. i always get my chicken vermicelli bowls with a side of peanut sauce, although i fear they thought i wanted to replace the normal sauce with that. i ended up dumping the residual dumpling sauce and the peanut sauce into my vermicelli bowl and it was delicious! everything was super fresh and even though i ate the entire massive noodle bowl i didn't feel weighed down afterwards. next time i go i will surely try the banh mi and the fresh garden rolls. read more

The crab rangoons were wonderful, crispy, golden, hot and tasty with the sweet chili sauce. I forgot to take a picture of the garden rolls (with shrimp only) before I ate them. They were plump, fresh, and neatly rolled. The peanut sauce was rich, thick and topped with pieces of peanuts. The service was great as always! I'm in love with the beef broth they make for the pho here. Most places have dilute broth, but the broth here is rich, flavorful, and delicious. The spices they add into it complement it so well. Whenever I want Vietnamese food in Baltimore, this is the first restaurant I think of. I get their combo special pho and it's always delicious. It's been too long since I've been to Indochine. They shut down a few years ago after a fire and then Covid hit shortly after so they've had a tough couple years. The inside is pretty straightforward with a few tables and a takeout counter. I remembered their fried rice being absolutely incredible. I was sad to see that it's no longer on the menu. They do have a rice platter with a choice of meat which is just plain jasmine rice with some veggies on the side. I ordered one of these with chicken and it was pretty good. Not as good as how I remember the fried rice being but the chicken was really well seasoned and you could tell it had been marinated generously. The pho was delicious as well. I'm not a pho connoisseur necessarily - I was very satisfied with the serving size and the flavors - but I've heard others say you can find better pho elsewhere. I got the soft tofu and veggie pho which came with rice noodles and plenty of fixings like basil, lime, and other toppings. At each table they have some red hot sauce and brown savory sauce you can add into your pho. I added a little bit of both and it was even better! I'd definitely return for more. The pho was enough to have leftovers (which the server recommended we eat that same night if possible) and it was a filling treat for a cold night. I probably wouldn't order the rice platter again since it just made me miss the fried rice dish even more. Maybe I'll try the spring rolls next time! read more

Such an unassuming pho spot! I've walked past this place countless times, and finally got a chance to stop by. When I went, it was not busy at all, but I'm sure there are peak hours for this place. While walking to a table near the back, I noticed a faint fish smell. I thought it would pass, but it actually got stronger when they opened what I'm assuming is a storage room or door to the kitchen. Either way, I didn't love that the place smelled like a seafood counter-- it was definitely off putting. To the food. The shrimp garden rolls with the peanut sauce were fantastic! They were so big (if you can't tell from the picture) and super satisfying. The pho could have stood to be a little hotter. I'll say, though, that they brought all the food at the same time, so my pho cooled a bit while I tried a spring roll. I wish they would have staggered it a bit like most restaurants. I ordered the chicken pho with chili oil to add spice. I didn't notice any spice at all, so I ended up adding a significant amount of Sriracha, which made it perfect. Overall, this is a pretty solid restaurant. All in, my meal was about $27 (the pho was in a combo with a small piece of flan, which was also just ok). We usually get the food for here to go but this was the first time we dined in. I can say eating here at the actual location wasn't what we were expecting. The restaurant was dirtier than all of the nearby eateries. It was like sitting down and everything on the table had that residual sticky, plastic feeling. I felt like I was eating in someone's detached garage. But that's not why this place gets 3 stars. For me, it's always about the food and the food here is just average. It's enough to float you buy if you're craving Vietnamese food, but it won't go much past that. I ordered the combo rice platter and my boyfriend the pork meatball vermicelli. We are visiting Baltimore and someone suggested to have a Pho at close up restaurant. I hate to leave not positive review, but i hope it would be taking as constructive criticism. First of all: Customer service non existent. Our water never was refilled, we never been asked if we needed any thing while we were dining. And i had to get up several time to ask for a simple thing like a knife or a lime. the little man who served us screamed at me, said to me not to get up, but raise my hand...seriously? But i actually did raise my hand the next time and nobody paid attention??? Anyway, it was kind of comical, but on a serious note customer service was horrible. No "welcome", "how are you? " no please and thank you"...nothing, just grumble. Food was all right, i got vermicelli with tofu. combination of fresh veggies , vermicelli and fish sauce was great but my deep fried tofu was too oily, the fist bite of tofu i took was overpowering by taste of oil, and it was not pleasant. Let's get one thing straight - I'm a slut for pho. I've slurped the spoon from Colorado to the Chesapeake Bay. Hell, I've even seen a travel channel show about Vietnam! And let me tell you this is best pho I've ever had. It's so good I've won bets and converted other pholanthropists from their long time haunts into the open arms of Indochine. A few years ago the place changed ownership and only a few months after a building fire shut down the restaurant for more than a year. Though the Phoenix that rose from the ashes makes grown people cry. It's their flat homemade noodles whose texture perfectly complements the slightly sweet spiced broth (which, believe it or not, requires no doctoring!). And if you do like to add a little heat to your treat, take a little control of your bowl, ask for their homemade chilly paste and bada bing bada boom that's a home run! Stop wasting your time reading this and scooch your cooch to indochine. And once you've been twenty times I urge you to explore the menu- get the hot bo bun hue (be sure to get it with the homemade noodles though) and their Bahn mi has the softest baguette this side of the mason dixon. I'm generally not a huge fan of eating soup in the summer (feels too hot), but a friend invited me to Indochine and I decided to break my rule. This was actually my very first time trying pho. I got the large P10, which is eye-round and meatballs, and we split an order of garden rolls. The garden rolls were a great appetizer. The pho was amazing! This is my go to spot for a filling, delicious meal all year round! I love coming to Indochine, whether for takeout or dine in. It's a place I am fully happy to come dine in by myself at since it's just so comforting to me to be here. It's a fairly small restaurant with a few tables at the front by the window and a larger room towards the back of the restaurant. I've made my way around the menu, trying the banh mi, Pho, some appetizers, and my all-time fave: Spicy beef noodle soup. It's different than the normal Pho and oh so delicious; if you like spicy foods that is. It comes spicy when they bring it to the table, but the real kick comes from the side of chili oil they bring on the side. A nice addition is the fact that they have boba! It's decent, and boba isn't the easiest thing to find in Baltimore so it is a welcome option. I've gotten it with the classing thai tea and with their vietnamese iced coffee that packs the kind of punch to please any caffeine addict. I wish i could put more stars! If youre a real Pho Head this is theeee place to go. Me and my bestie were hungover and needed a pick-me-up and were craving soup. We decided were gonna get Pho, and found this place randomly on google. Its soo homey and cute inside. The Pho was smackin!! So delicious!! Summary: Indochine is a small and unassuming Vietnamese restaurant with pretty good food at average prices, without any fancy decor. I went here with a friend who frequents the restaurant. I got the five spice chicken ($13) and he got the basil chicken ($13) with fried rice (+$3.5). The five spice chicken was outstanding! I've never had a dish bursting with such unique flavors. I really loved it and highly recommend. The basil chicken was also good. The fried rice was average and nothing special. The prices were average for Vietnamese food. They also had a range of other Asian dishes such as pad thai, General tso's chicken, etc. The inside of the restaurant was not highly decorated. It reminded me of a "hole in the wall" type of restaurant. However, it was not off putting and I still felt comfortable being there. The inside was clean and had ample seating space. Amazing pho and the best fried rolls I've had in bmore. They are the real thing and bring me back to eating at my favorite Vietnamese restaurant as a kid before pho took over and a lot of places went with easy bake frozen rolls. The homemade pho sate is incredible and so spicy I use it for days on anything else I want a kick of garlic and spice. Spot on flavors for their classic pho dish and really great bahn mi. The broth was very savory and had hints of lime and lemon to balance out the thick broth - this is the perfect soup to have on a cold fall and winter day. The bahn me was crispy on the outside, the meat was very juicy and there was a heaping amount of vegetables to balance out the sandwich. I was however very disappointed by the service here and had to knock off two stars because it ruined our experience and made me hesitant to come back to indochine. My boyfriend and I were not very hungry so we decided to get a large pho and split it and also get a bahn mi and split it. We were told by the waitress that we were not allowed to split entrees which is the strangest thing I have ever heard. She said she was not allowed to provide extra plates and bowl and we asked whether we could share from the same bowl and she also mentioned that it was not allowed. Still very confused by all of this so my boyfriend ended up just getting a regular pho and I ended up getting the bahn mi and eating separately because I felt like we were being stared down (almost like we were being monitored to not share food). Also not sure if this was intentional or just coincidence, but our bahn mi came uncut (normally it is cut in half) - and we had to ask for a knife so that we could cut the bahn mi to make it easier to eat. I also ordered a Vietnamese coffee and the waitress ended up bringing me plain black coffee without any condensed milk - when I approached her about it, she told me that I asked her for black coffee and not Vietnamese coffee - after a few minutes of back and fourth, the manager gave me a separate cup of condensed milk to put into the coffee and apologized. I once again felt like I was being blamed for something by this waitress. I left feeling pretty crummy after eating here, the Service was some of the worst I have ever experienced. I've only been in Baltimore for 6 weeks, but this is one of my favorite finds. The pho was exactly what I was looking for. I think it has been particularly consistent with how good the food is. I also got the hot honey lemon tea and combined with the pho, my little cold stood no chance! I've done their take out twice. The vermicelli noodles are thoroughly delicious. They also keep well, so if you need lunch for the next day, bam , here's a delicious solution. The sauce that comes with the vermicelli noodles is so good. If you're eating it the next day, pro tip, don't pour it on until you're ready to eat it. The flavors are solid. The service is solid. You don't have to wait long. Ordered take out via door dash this past weekend when we were in the area for Baltimore Comic Con. After a long day of waiting in lines, perusing countless shops and having nothing but fried food available at the convention center we wanted some fresh food. Ordered the eye round steak pho and tofu summer roll. The meat is thin sliced and raw but cooks in the hot broth. I was impressed with how it was delivered, broth in a large quart container, noodles, meat and bag of topping with sprouts, jalapeno, mint and lime packed separate so they don't get soggy. Even after about a 30 min wait everything arrived still hot. Minor complaint is its a bit pricey compared to other pho places I've visited and the summer roll would have been better with pork or shrimp (again for an extra .50 -$1). The tofu was fine but lacked flavor. Husband ordered the beef brisket pho and crab rangoon but the rangoon didn't have a ton of filling for the price. I definitely would not recommend this restaurant. My first thought walking in was that the lighting was very poor and I didn't like the ambience. I ordered pho, which was decent and by itself would be around 3 stars but everything somehow felt very dirty. The utensils looked dirty and I especially hated the plastic cups, which were dark red and dark brown for me, so I couldn't tell if they were clean or not. I inspected my water cup and saw some gooey substance at the bottom, made the mistake of scraping it off with my straw and it came off and I'm praying it's just smushed rice because I drank from that cup and just thinking about it now really grosses me out. The restroom was also dark and didn't look too clean. Overall, the food is edible, although nothing special and with very little meat. Had the most awful, rude encounter with the workers earlier today. I dined here for lunch yesterday and came back again today, but the man comes up to me, gets in my face, and DEMANDS that I didn't pay for my food yesterday. I go to the counter to talk to one of the girls, with the credit card statement proving that I paid the day before, but rather than apologize, the girl hands over a receipt that wasn't mine, claiming that it was from the table that I sat at the day before. Furthermore, the receipt she showed me was for an order of four dishes, when I had dined with one other person and had ordered a total of two things. Once I convinced them that I had paid for my order, the man refuses to apologize and complains about the girl working and how she made the mistake. It was such a ridiculous encounter that I probably won't be returning again (mid pho, anyway). We happened on this place while out for a walk during Sunday Funday. The space is much larger inside than I thought it would be and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. We ordered two drinks, an app, pho, and pad thai and the bill was roughly $40. Plenty of food for the cost! I didn't realize the dumplings we ordered had seafood in them, so I can't comment on their quality - but I really enjoyed the pho! It was perfectly spicy! None of the dishes came with their sauces. No peanuts, and no extras. Shredded lettuce instead of cabbage. Not an enjoyable meal, overall. Also, a dead roach in the food.
