Incredible. Fresh, quality ingredients. Big portions. Great service. This place is truly a gem! We got the veg spring rolls, veg pho, and veg bahn mi (take out). The veg bahn mi was seriously the best I ever had. I got it without mayo since I'm vegan, but I added Just Mayo to it when I got home and it was out of this world. The pho. Hot damn. So good. Extremely flavorful and filling. Loads of fresh veggies and tofu! The broth was fragrant and had great depth in flavor. I'm still drooling over the spring rolls and can't wait to get them again. The food at Indochine is always fresh and well made. The service is extremely fast and friendly. There is a nice decor and atmosphere to the place as well. For the price (about $10), you really can't get a better meal for lunch on George Street. Favorite dish: Bun Chay Dac Biet with a vegetarian spring roll. read more

Bottom line on this place: It's not horrible but it's not great. I've been meaning to review this place for a while. I was craving pho and this is the only place to get it near campus. The first time I went, it was quiet, the waitress was very efficient. The pho came out fast (freakishly fast, but it wasn't that busy) and was VERY hot (like nuked in the microwave hot). The meat was already fully cooked when I got it and the noodles were too soft. I was not pleased. With good pho the broth is the good hot (like simmering on the stove hot, not scalding like this was), and the meat is still pink when you get it, and the noodles still have firmness to it. The subsequent times I went, it was just too loud. This place attracts lots of large, loud-talking groups so chances are if you're trying to have a quiet lunch/dinner by yourself or with your date you won't find it here, look elsewhere. But if that's not something that irks you (I do find it irksome when I have to crane my neck in to hear my bf because an obnoxious group of 6 can't use their indoor voices). After my first visit, I made a diet change where I cut back on my meat consumption, so I was happy that they allowed me to have beef broth without meat and vegetables instead since I just don't really like veggie broth, but the broth isn't really authentic but it's not that bad.I agree with the person who said if you're just DYING to have some pho it'll do it but prepare to be disappointed if you've had some truly great pho in the past. If not go to the more authentic places in Edison. On the pho alone it deserves two stars but the service is good and the vermicelli bowl is as well. The other times I got the vegetarian vermicelli, once I forgot to mention no peanuts. The waitress took it back for me but only after verifying that I was actually allergic to nuts instead of just not being a fan of them?I found that a bit odd but they did take it back. read more

Pretty good place considering there are no pho places around in new brunswick. Not a huge pho freak, but when i have craved pho really badly at school, it has done its job. Compared to the pho in my hometown, its not up to their level, but its still pretty good! Its a small restaurant, but its very clean and nice. The service was pretty good. One time i went in with my friends, they told us Rutgers students get 10% off! But one time iwent in, a different waitress didnt bring it up! Ah, so I dont know if its just a 1 day a week thing or not. The pho portion seems to be a bit small compared to others, and they cost a 1.50 more than usual places! So thats a negative. On the other side, the noodles are good, and the broth, seems inconsistent. Went there twice, and one time the broth was amazing, but the other time, it tasted a bit bland. To conclude this, i had to give it a 4/5 star just because i havent gone their often, and also, the price is too steep for a college student. The portion is bit small compared to the average pho places in philadelphia area. If your looking for a pho area in the Rutgers area, try it out! Maybe you'll step in there on a good day. read more

First time here tonight after the George Street Placehouse. It's the first Saturday that this 6 week old business has been open. Tiny, wonderfully painted place on a quiet street near the courthouse and just off Albany Street. Began with tasty summer rolls which came with a hoisin sauce w/carrots. We then had a delicious beef pho and vermincelli noodles with shrimp & roasted beef, both delicious. Too full for the banana or apple crepe. Anxious to try the other phos. The owner served us in a friendly and efficient manner. Would be a great find for Rutgers students. read more

The service is good! The pho isn't great but it isn't horrible. There aren't many pho restaurants in New Brunswick (not sure if there are any, actually) so if you want something just to satisfy a craving, this is the place to go. My only complaint is the size of the pork egg rolls. They're so tiny and you could barely taste the filling. The sauce isn't too flavorful. quickly becoming one of my favorite places to eat in new brunswick. i've had the bun, pho, and banh mi, summer rolls and they have all been great. the pho is a bit expensive for my taste (~$8) but worth the price. the banh mi special is great, it comes with fries and a soda for $7.50. and the thai iced tea is delicious too. courteous waiter/owner, good service, and a short wait for the food. the decor is nice, the place itself is a bit small but i've never had a problem waiting. indochine also offers great discounts. 15% off for rutgers students, you just have to ask and show id. the bahn mi special is only $7 on saturdays. and you can get two orders of pho for the price of one on tuesdays if they don't sell-out. read more

In terms of flavor, indochine is authentic and the real deal. My friend and I love their phos and just about anything else on their menu. The only sad thing is that their egg rolls, while delicious, are pricey and small. Vietnamese egg rolls usually are small, but if you get them in Chinatown restaurants, one order could be anywhere from 6-10 egg rolls for about $4.95-$6, but here it's like 1.50 or so (I don't remember exactly) per roll the size of your index finger. It's disappointing when you order an entree it comes with two eggrolls and the rest are noodles and beansprouts. While the flavors are good, your huge bowl is deceiving-- you're paying a lot for soup, noodles, and beansprouts, because when it comes to giving more meat or other proteins, they're pretty skimpy. Good flavor, but little substance--you could easily get full on drinking the soup though, which, while delicious, still feels a little unsatisfied. read more

no no no! If you're looking for REAL AUTHENTIC viet food.. then do not go here! When they first opened I was so excited there was a viet restaurant on campus but once I sat down and looked at the menu I was so turned off. The viet subs were extremely overpriced (there's no way in hell I'm paying over $5 for a banh mi) and so I went for the pho (still overpriced but I settled). I was very disappointed with the lack of flavor my pho soup had. It was evident that they didn't cook the pho soup long enough or decided to skimp on a few ingredients to make the soup flavorful. The decor was very modern which was nice but at the end of the day, it doesn't matter how great the place looks. I've been to a lot of ugly viet restaurants that serve delicious and great tasting food at a low cost! read more

Really nice pho in a warm atmosphere. The owner has managed to take a tiny space and give it a warm ambiance. The owner was helpful, friendly, and accomodating. The pho was fab, and you just can't beat the "two pho one tuesday" deal. Check was 13 dollars for two, and we were stuffed! Better than the few other vietnamese restaurants in the area. Only complaint...we brought wine, and had to drink it out of large soda glasses. We may have been the first people to show up with a bottle. Stopped in for dinner with a group of four after show at the State. This restaurant is intimately small and the atmosphere is basic, relaxed and cheery. The owner couldn't have been friendlier or more accomodating about tweaking the dishes for preferences. The food was wonderful and prices extremely reasonable. read more

My go-to take out place when I'm craving pho at Rutgers! This place is an absolute gem! The restaurant's seating is limited but the staff is always welcoming and nice! I always stop by for dinner with my friends and they haven't disappoint! We usually order the pork & shrimp rolls in rice paper and the pork egg rolls for starters. I order the Pho Tai which is pho with rare steak and it's so good! Only pet peeve is that the take-out price is at least $15 so I have to order a bit more to add up to $15. Other than that, Indochine satisfies my pho craving! read more

I have been coming to this restaurant since it opened. It has become an addiction. The R-4, beef and lemongrass with curry and R-5 , the chicken and potatoes with curry are favorites. The CS-4, stir fried filet uses tender filet pieces with rice and salad and is the best. Shrimp wonton soup is very flavorful. The service is efficient and the food comes out hot and fast and T serves it with an insult and a smile. read more

This was the first time I tried the Infamous Vietnamese dish, Pho. And I was delightfully surprised! It was a chilly day so my friend suggest Pho. I ordered the standard one with beef cuts and it came in a decently sized bowl. The broth was soooo spot on. I had a chance to try this place twice while my business stay in the area. I had their pho (P5 from the menu) beef broth with brisket and raw steak, though I had better one from other places before, it's still pretty flavorful. That's why I went back again to try their pork chop rice plate which is also a signature dish for any Vietnamese restaurant. The pork chop was a disappointment. It did not marinate well (very bland) and the texture was too tough and hard. I would have thought any restaurant would try to make their signature dishes well. I may be biased as I've been lucky enough to live in 2 cities with large Vietnamese populations, and I judge places harshly on the quality of their grilled pork, which was very flavorful, but didn't have the texture I'm used to. My boyfriend & I split a banh mi as an appetizer, as it's been said, the bread wasn't crunch enough, and the veggies were slightly lacking, but over all it was good. For drinks we had the "fresh" lemon-aid which didn't taste too lemony, and I had the iced coffee which was so strong & sweet I thought it was a good idea to have 2. For dinner he got the pho and it was good, I had the bao w/ pork and egg roll, it was okay, got a side of peanut sauce with it to add some extra flavor. Everything was adequate, and a good place to go on a Monday when most ethnic restaurants are closed. My only real complaint was, we purchased a yelp certificate, and our remaining balance was $3.30 or so, so we gave the waitress $4 and left her tip on the table. When she brought the check back to be rung up the owner loudly exclaimed, that we had only left $4! How could we? He said this several times loud enough for the whole place to hear, even though the waitress kept telling him we left our tip on the table. I was extremely embarrassed, and couldn't wait to get out of there. After that, and adequate food, I'm not so sure I'll be back. read more
