I was excited to eat Vietnamese cuisine, but I wasn't in the mood to eat pho today so I ordered the vermicelli noodles. I didn't try any of the pho dishes but a few of my other friends got the pho and they really liked it. The serving sizes were also pretty large in my opinion, I brought home leftovers. Bun Chay Dac Biet B4 This was the vegetarian vermicelli noodles with tofu, mushrooms, broccoli, carrots, onions, and crushed peanuts served with a vegetarian egg roll. It comes with a soy sauce/ fish sauce(? Not too sure what exactly was in the sauce). I used half the sauce and mixed it into the noodles and it was delicious. The tofu was slightly bland, but the vegetables made up for it, lots of flavor in the vegetables. I had a little less than half left over. So first time pho-eater here. I was recommended by a couple of my realest friends to come check this place out-surprisingly never went in even though it's right in the heart of George Street. Can't even make the "college student budget" joke because everything is so affordable. Service was great-something you wouldn't expect from a place that only had one server on. But he went through with the service effortlessly. I got the Pho Chay (Vegetarian Pho) and it was simple but oh so delicious. Everything was made to perfection-tofu to the veggies. Rice Noodles were perfect and had a bit of a ginger after taste from the broth which was amazing. Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for Pho in New Brunswick. Been here a few times over the past year and I must say, the food is pretty good. They also seem to have built up a pretty decent following. I never used to go in here as it seemed fairly empty, but over he last few years, the number of diners seems to be steadily building. I've had there Pho, vegetable rolls and tofu sandwich. The pho is very good. Not too salty and the broth is seasoned really well. Portion size is good as well. The vegetable rolls are absolutely delicious when dipped in the peanut sauce. They are also a decent size. The tofu sandwich is excellent. Vietnamese sandwiches made with tofu are the only time I can even go near tofu since I usually hate it. This sandwich however is delicious. The jalapeños, special mayo and carrots etc really bring this sandwich home and make you feel like you're eating a delicious chicken sandwich. Service has always pretty quick and I've usually been in and out in a short period of time. There are plenty of tables in the restaurant and the vibe is very laid back. Being the only Pho place in the area, I just had to try it, and it certainly satisfies my Pho cravings. Pros: + Pho is delicious. Although a bit pricier than what I am used to paying, for about $8 you get a perfect portion of Pho that leaves me feeling perfectly satisfied. While I usually like to gorge myself until I want to vomit, Indochine prevents that without me feeling slighted. + Bright ambiance. The colors are bright and the server is brighter. Even though the place is small, I've never felt packed in there uncomfortably. Cons... wait that's a harsh term. Let's just call it "unique features" or "opportunities for improvement": - Cozy - When people say that this place is small, they mean it. With only enough seats for about 14 people, if you come at the wrong time, you will be forced to stand awkwardly in the center of the restaurant in hopes that someone is close to finishing their meal. - Cold - because it is so small, in the winter time when someone opens the door, the rush of cold air can be felt all throughout the restaurant. The only safe spot is behind a bowl of warm Pho. Bring layers or be prepared to face rapid temperature changes depending on people traffic. One last note - I would have been more inclined to consider 5 stars for offering a very casual and delicious dining experience except for the fact that their fried egg rolls were subpar. I'm willing to come back here during my lunch breaks, but probably wouldn't go out of my way to come here. If you're in the area, definitely worth a visit. read more

I am no Vietnamese expert; actually, to be honest, this was the first place I've tried pho. With that in mind, I now dream and salivate at the thought of this pho - "P7". It's pho with rice noodles in a chicken broth with shredded white chicken meat with bean sprouts, lemon and jalapeños on the side. I am not joking, my mouth is creating more saliva right now while I just type about it. I am unable to finish the whole bowl - it is more of a bathing pool for a small dog, but they graciously give you a plastic container to take home the left overs. You also much have their Thai iced tea. It's a lovely, sweet and refreshing beverage to enjoy throughout your meal. The ambiance of the restaurant is very laid back, but still very appealing. The walls are brightly painted and there are little alcoves with little asian inspired decor. The service is great, very friendly, attentive and want to cater to you. I have had the classic pho beef broth several times, and even to-go and it's always been good. I've had better, but it's solid. However, the best has been the spicy one. It adds more depth in flavor to the dish. The veggie green noodle dish was delish too (more of a stir kind of dish). I once did the brown rice noodle substitute in the pho once but it's wasn't the same... the texture was a bit too soft and slimy. But I like that they offer the option! I like Indochine a lot. Was visiting from CA and wanted soup for the cold weather here. The restaurant was clean, not dirty, but a "hole-in-The-wall" style of restaurant, typical of back home. Since it's right by my college, I've come here several times already! Yesterday I ordered an order of pho with rare steak. Just by looking at it, I felt like I changed owners or it just got better because they used to put too much broth into the bowl and the broth to noodle ratio was off. This time the broth and noodle ratio was right on! Also, when there's too much broth in the bowl, it's hard to take a good picture of the pho because you'll just see broth! After two sips into the broth, I realized that I was disappointed again. To make good broth, the chefs use meat bones and boil them in water for hours to extract all the bone flavors into the broth, but just a few sips into the broth, I don't think the broth had much flavor and was very watered down. The noodles and meat were pretty good and the hot and hoisin sauces helped add more flavors to the pho. However, at the end, it's the broth that makes the pho. Besides the pho, I had an order of pork egg rolls, and it was delicious! Very hot and crunchy! Lastly, I think the server forgot about us. He came to give us food and never came back to check on us or refill our empty glasses of water! On top of that, we had to wave him over to get the check. Indochine has long been a local favorite of ours. Last night we did takeout and I was especially impressed with their packaging of our order. The pho came in several parts: a big compostable bowl with the noodles and chicken, a tall plastic container with the broth, and a bag containing the sprouts, basil, lime, etc., and finally two small containers of Sriracha hot sauce and hoisin sauce. Noticed this place as we are leaving Caffèbene across the street and decided to stop by. We ordered the pho, p4, which came with sliced beef and tendon. The broth was quite tasty, so much so that we didn't need to add hoisin sauce at all. They also gave you a generous amount of noodles. The interior was nice and clean and is a nice place to hang out with friends. I love how it is on campus to give some variety of cuisines. We didn't have a chance to try anything else. This place is such a quaint gem in New Brunswick. The staff is attentive and very nice, willing to assist with anything you need. I've gone twice in the past two weeks because of how delicious and fresh the Pho is. I'm hooked on the Pho Tom (shrimp with mushrooms), tons of bean sprouts, lots of sriracha sauce, lime and jalapenos. My all time favorite drink is the Thai Iced tea because of the creaminess. They have extra precautions for Covid, including outdoor seating, distanced seating of tables and digital menus (of course staff wearing masks). For a main I ordered the P1 (Pho Dac Biet)--delicious flavorful broth with great portions of meat (beef tendon, brisket and tripe). I need to update my review because I must say, this place is worth 5 stars to me *****! I've only ever seen 3 different waiters and the owner, who know my order when I walk in- it's sad (yet amazing). My normal order with mah 'boo? V2 - appetizer. AMAZING. Soooooo fresh and the sauce has a ton of flavor with a hint of spice. V3 - vegetarian pho. Hands down my favorite. I don't ever order anything different. So much good food. This is the only pho place close by to me. I've been here a few times now. It's reasonably priced and the food is pretty good. The restaurant is clean and has plenty of tables. It's basically your average Vietnamese place. I usually order the vegetable fresh spring rolls for my appetizer and the vegetable pho. The vegetable pho is tasty and delicious and has tofu in addition to a ton of veggies. It's great to eat for a cold winter night. The pho is a generous amount, I'm always full after eating here. Update review, Every time I come here I always get good service and more but for some reason the broth is literally a hit or miss and the last few times I came was definitely a miss. I'm not sure why but the down graded on the quality noodles they use. It basically tastes like the $1 instant noodles you'd buy from the market to pop in the microwave. So in and breaking part while trying to pick up using chop sticks. I ended my supper with just drinking the broth since I know it's save of MSG but wow prob won't be back for a while seeing they are already over priced and now for no good reason. read more

I have been to Indochine to sit and dine and take out and both were good experiences. For take out, I ordered online, paid fully and 20 minutes later I was able to be in and out of the restaurant to head back to work (so fun!). The restaurant is clean and the waiters and waitresses are very nice and helpful. I got the vermicelli noodles with grilled pork, pickled veggies, and Vietnamese egg rolls. Middle of the road Viet spot. I try to help my fellow Vietnamese out, but can't write a lie either. Ordered the Com Ga Nuong (grilled chicken w rice) and was disappointed. The portion was decent, but for $11, this was overpriced and OK in taste. It was after the lunch rush, so at least the food came out fairly quickly. Chicken - not marinated and was pan fried. I was expecting the typical lemongrass / soy sauce taste, but it didn't taste much of anything. Not being grilled was also strange, considering the staple Vietnamese dish is grilled. I also got chicken breast, although healthier; dark meat is better than white meat in this dish. Rice - not broken rice, was long grain. Probably not noticeable to anyone, but it's still a little strange Fish sauce (Nuoc mam) - it literally was fish sauce that was watered down. No hint of garlic, red pepper or onion. Very flat. I've tried the pork banh mi, beef pho, and pork chop with rice. The banh mi was really good, good flavor and bread had a good toast on it (and whoever made it did a really nice job making it even and symmetrical). It could've used a bit more sauce in my opinion. Beef pho was also tasty. I've had pho from a lot of different places, and they all slightly vary in taste, and this one is just as good as the other pho I've tried. The portion was much bigger than I expected, which is nice. Pork chop with rice was decent, although the pork was maybe slightly overcooked and leaning towards the dry side. It had good flavor though, and mixing it with the rice, veggies, and fish sauce made it a good combo. Service - well, clearly there's a lack of waiters here, and it looked super busy inside. 5 stars for the vegan tacos alone!! They're delicious and it's such a high-end type of meal that I feel like I'm at a fancy place in NYC when I'm eating them. The pho is also really good. I'm glad the restaurant is finally open on weekends!
