I've gone to Industrial for three or four piercing by now. My first time was probably around 2008 or so where I got an industrial bar in my right ear. Something was off and it never quite healed all the way, but I think it has more to do with my ear than their work. A few years ago I went in to try to swap out a conch piercing with a different earring. The person who took a look at me informed me that I had keloids that I couldn't see, but they were dangerously big and needed to be removed. She refused to change the jewelry and told me to go see my doctor or dermatologist asap. I really appreciated that she cared more about my health than the possibility of making money by selling me something. I followed her advice and ended up getting multiple keloids removed. Last week I came back to get my septum pierced a and everything went well. Marina was my piercer and she was very easy to talk to while she was prepping the materials. Everything was sterile and she took great care in measuring everything so the jewelry would fit properly. It was a smooth and basically painless experience, literally and figuratively. ( that's all) It turns out that in fine print when you book your appointment online it says of " you want to use jewelry that you purchased previously from them".... " you need to bring it in a day early for sterilization. Basically it is a scam to sell jewelry. Just charge me for the piercings. Even if it is a bit more . Don't force me to thrown money away on garbage at the cost of 70. That would be 15.00 from Amazon . Bad business practices. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Really exceptional service! I got a helix piercing about a month ago- my first non-earlobe piercing. All the staff were super understanding and helpful when I had a lot of questions about aftercare. The piercing process itself was efficient and almost painless. Not to mention they have really nice jewelry! Overall I think I paid around $100 for both the stud and piercing process, including $10 for a large saline spray bottle for cleaning. I think that's a pretty solid price for what you get, though I didn't get a fancy stud or anything. At the moment, you have to make appointments online (maybe by phone) in order to enter the store. I've been to several piercing parlors in the San Francisco Bay Area, but Industrial is the one I've been to most frequently, especially during the pandemic where they allow you to book appointments in advance for a dedicated time slot for your service. The most recent time I went was to finally switch out my nose stud for a hoop, which was the culmination of a years-long saga. I heard it might take a few tries with different size hoops to find the one that fits your nose the best, but Nash nailed it on the first try. I now have a classy thin gold hoop hugging my nostril the way I always imagined and dreamed it, and Nash couldn't have been more nice and reassuring about the fitting. Now I'm totally inspired to come back for a new piercing - wherever it is I know I can count on the Industrial staff to do it safely and make it look so good! read more

When I first walked into this store, I was in awe of how cool the interior looked. I wanted to get a cartilage piercing, and was helped almost immediately as I walked up to the counter. The person that helped me quickly got me through all the paperwork and was super patient as I chose an earring, as I was very indecisive. I believe you don't need an appointment here for a piercing. I waited around 10-15 minutes and Andrea came out to get me. She recommended me a location on my ear, and I went with it. She was very nice throughout the whole experience and answered all the questions that I had. I had a few problems with the conch I got from here , first I was given a short post after the piercing so my skin healed over the back of piercing 2 weeks after and I came back and they fixed it for me. Or I well thought so. This week I had a problem again after months with the same piercing, I was in so much pain. The back was again too short and would need another adjustment. As professionals I was really expecting more :/ And I thought they know exactly how to downsize or upsize me, I just wished I was properly taken care of the first time to avoid this second time. Decided to take a chance and come to Industrial after experiencing another shop in Berkeley and wanting to see my options as an educated consumer! Industrial is always super packed, and there's usually a queue already forming as I walked through the door. The Sunday I came by it was no different. Looking back at it, I waited about 15 minutes to get helped and another hour and a half to get pierced! So prepare to spend some time here, as it probably won't be a quick in and out visit. So the jewelry selection here is exquisite...LY BOUGIE! There's a ton of variety of pieces that'd catch your eye. The catch is, they're all super expensive, so if you're looking to ball on a budget this place might not be for you. Being the savvy college student I am, I had called earlier to ask about bringing my own jewelry for new piercings. I had ordered a bunch of jewelry to use for new piercings but had every piece shutdown. I was pretty disappointed to hear that my jewelry needed to be sterilized at least one day in advance, so none of my pieces could be used, as I am a student at Davis and had just stopped by on the way to school to get new piercings and wouldn't just casually be able to come back later. Bringing in private jewelry also has another cost added too. So I didn't really end up saving any money really. I then needed to choose jewelry out of the case. I came in wanting a daith, two lobes, and a cartilage..however after inquiring the costs, I cut down to 3 piercings instead...sorry wallet. I chose the cheapest, second most basic CBR with purple gem for my daith. I decided investing in the $45 ring with a cute gem would spark more joy in me (hello, marie kondo!) than a regular gem-less CBR. Of course, to my luck the color I wanted was out of stock, but at least they had pink! Lobe jewelry starters are flatback labrets, so none of those terrible butterfly backs. They were also bougie, as I remember they started at $45 a pop, ouch! However, I got some beautiful white opals. I'm glad they had various sizes and colors, and none of them looked cheap! So then the waiting game began and I got brought in to see the piercer. She was so sweet and relieved my stress about the daith and me hearing that it is the most painful cartilage piercing. With the swift movement of her needle, my daith was pierced. Easiest piercing to get ever! She was super communicative, understanding, caring, and cheerful piercer. It was a breath of fresh air talking to her, and she even sacrificed some money for the shop by urging me not to get more piercings than my body could heal all at once, an effort that made me respect her and the shop more. Coming out, I got a neilmed spray for my new body mods. Although I painfully dropped over 2 benjis in a day, I'm so glad I did it. Even more than a month later, I can't stop from admiring my ear with the new pieces. The quality of jewelry helps it heal effortlessly, and the pieces are beautiful. I don't regret a single cent and the service was great. Overall, I think this shop is less of a college-student friendly business due to its priciness. I think adults working full-time could stomach these costs a lot easier. This is my second time getting pierced here. I got second piercings last year and a few weeks ago, they closed because I forgot to wear earrings for 3 days. So I had to get them repierced. Both experiences were great, both piercers were great. Because of the whole covid situation, they are doing appointments in advance. I was a little late because the city put up no parking signs all along the street. But they were very understanding. I was greeted right away at the door, they took temperature, wait wasn't long at all. I noticed that every single one of their staff member were in good spirit, pleasant, and greeted everyone promptly. I have the earrings from my last visit, but forgot to bring them. They needed them 24hrs in advance for double disinfecting anyways and I didn't have time to bring them in early. So I got another pair of earrings. They didn't push me into purchasing anything that I didn't want. But made good recommendations for what I needed. I chose something simple that suited my taste. My piercer was very nice and professional. They're very busy, but I didn't feel rushed at all. The whole process was quick and painless. Then I was out the door! Is it pricy? Not really. I've taken my kid to another tattoo shop once to get his ears pierced and the prices are about the same. It really comes down to the jewelry, they start at $30 a piece. There is absolutely NOTHING negative to write. I took my daughter here yesterday to get her first facial piercing (her first piercing after her ears at age 6). She was hoping for an eyebrow piercing, but was informed during her anatomy check that she was not a good candidate for such (Huge thank you #1) so she decided to do her lip instead. Lysa, her piercer, was absolutely amazing. She was kind, genuine, talkative, and really made my daughter feel important and heard. Restored my faith in humanity! (Huge thank you #2). After her piercing, while I was paying, my daughter started to feel dizzy and thought she might faint. Lysa and the staff jumped right in and took care of her...had her sit correctly, got her water, got her an ice pack for the back of her neck, and stayed with her while I ran off to a nearby market to get her some food/juice thinking her blood sugar was probably low, having not eaten since an early lunch. This place is super clean and has a beautiful selection of jewelry. I really wanted to like this place more, since I have had at least 2 people recommend this spot to me. I have gotten 2 piercings here and was going to come in for a third (before quarantine) and was basically ignored when I went inside. The first time I went was amazing. Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable, but the last two times, I had weird interactions. Besides being ignored to the point of leaving without ever talking to a staff member, the second time I went for my cartilage pierced, the piercer was a little short with me when I was asking questions. Other than some customer service issues, this place is pretty pricey. I went to Industrial last Monday to get my nipples pierced. I was greeted by Nash who was friendly and welcoming. I was particularly nervous about this piercing, but Nash's kind demeanor immediately put me at ease while I waited. I then went back to be pierced by Marina. I let her know I was a little nervous, but she made me feel comfortable and supported the whole time. She explained every step of the process so there were no surprises. A bit of background: getting piercings freak me out and I made the mistake of going to Claire's a few years back. Last week, I came in for a consultation with a couple questions about re-piercing and starter jewelry. Anwyn was super knowledgeable in answering my questions and let me preview the earrings prior to my actual piercing appointment. I was with my friend, inside of the tattoo/piercing parlor, and WATCHED while they did not honor my friend's appointment after making us both show our COVID cards and confirm her appt. and then took another younger woman, first, who walked in and announced that she did not have an appointment. I am younger than my neighbor, and, by contrast, the woman asking for our vax cards asked me if I needed help, wanted a piercing. Huh? Why are you ignoring my friend? Is this an age-related thing? As such, I feel obliged to leave a review for Industrial Tattoo to let everyone know that if you're looking for a tattoo or piercing, especially for the first time, this is the place in Berkeley to get it! About a year ago a friend recommended Industrial Tattoo when I said I was looking for somewhere that did piercings. I received a septum piercing from a piercer whose name I cannot remember. What I do remember was how incredibly professional, sterile, and communicative Industrial Tattoo was as a business. The piercer answered every question with kindness, attention to detail, and concern for my well being. I was given very good aftercare instructions, was very calmly walked through the entire piercing appointment, and left feeling incredibly happy about the entire experience. My follow up appointment to size down the initial piercing, as is generally expected, was easy to schedule and went incredibly smoothly. I can attest personally to the efficacy of this establishment's piercing appointments, and would gladly return for such services. So when I decided I wanted to get my first tattoo, I knew exactly which shop I wanted to check with for artists and appointments. I recommend going to their website and browsing the individual instagram's for each artist to find a portfolio that resonates with you, especially if you're looking for a custom piece. It was through exactly this channel that I found Marina (instagram @marinaalexandertattoo). Her portfolio is stunning, and was exactly what I was looking for. I reached out to schedule an appointment. I came with 4 reference photos and a flexible, but somewhat clear idea for what I wanted in this tattoo. Marina was respectful, professional, and easily accessible on Instagram to schedule an appointment for a consult to develop the custom piece. After a little bit of conversation, I was able to come in within 2 days of having reached out for the initial consult. During the consult today, Marina was friendly and clear, guiding me through the entire process, clearly communicating what I should expect for the actual appointment and the information (in regards to the design) I would receive leading up to it. She had even played around with drawing some ideas with my reference images before I had even showed up for me to look at, even though I had only sent them a few hours earlier. The entire consult took only 20 minutes, but I felt like everything I wanted to communicate was taken seriously, and had been made note of so that the eventual piece would come along exactly how I wanted it. When I asked about price range (for any first timers, with tattoos you usually are quoted a range instead of an exact price because artists are paid per hour--expect to tip your artist well in addition to the price, especially if you might return for touch ups and additional work), Marina gave me an exceptionally reasonable quote (about $350-$400) for a medium sized piece (5 1/2" tall 3-4" wide, about the size of my palm), and told me that if we went a little over the allotted time because she was taking her time with details, she would not charge me out of that range. We scheduled an appointment for the actual tattoo about a month out, I put down a $100 deposit that would go towards the price of the tattoo, and was out of the shop in 20 minutes, without once feeling rushed despite there being many many clients waiting out front to get in as soon as the shop opened. As a first time tattoo client, I felt exceptionally well taken care of, and risks and potential problems were communicated in a way that never once made me feel like I was being dissuaded from my initial vision. I am very very excited for my appointment to get the actual tattoo. This process, which can be nerve wracking, has, on the contrary, made me feel extremely at ease and excited. I was greeted by Wes, who was super helpful and informative when selecting jewelry and telling me a little more about my piercing. Once that was squared away, I waited a few minutes for Andrea to do my piercing. She was very professional, knowledgeable, and kind. She explained everything in detail and made me feel extremely comfortable. The people are incredibly friendly and helpful. No issue with them at all, honestly the best service I've ever gotten in a tattoo/piercing salon. I got a forward helix by the apprentice and it was INCREDIBLY painful. I usually wouldn't complain but I have a triple helix and rook and I would've rated those like 3/10 at most but that forward helix was 10/10 Jesus fucking Christ I had to stop from screaming. I originally thought I'd get the first one as a test and go make it a triple later. Held off on making this review cause I was terrified that I was just a wuss. read more
