oreo mint brownie blizzard bar (SOOO GOOD)
    Grace X.

It's actually INSANE how delicious these frozen dessert bars are. First off, the guy who helped me (the owner's husband) was so friendly and attentive as soon as I walked in. He told me he recommended I get a bar as they are the most popular offering and showed me the flavors they had for the day and let me try a sample of one of them. I ended up opting for an oreo mint brownie blizzard bar and it was HEAVENLY. I had a ~25 minute walk back to my hotel so the bar had melted a tiny bit around the edges by the time I got back so it was a little messy to eat, but still ridiculously delicious. Honestly one of the best desserts of my life. I was told the best way to eat the bars is to pick them up like an ice cream sandwich so that is what I did. Everything they make is vegan and gluten free and the bars have 15g protein according to the website! Update: I came back to try another bar, this time I got the double pb cup caramel cookie bar as recommended by the owner and it was somehow EVEN BETTER than the first one I had. Their pb cup tastes better than I remember Reese's tasting back before I went vegan. I also got to chat with the owner and she was incredibly nice. Highly highly recommended this place to everyone! I genuinely think these might be the best desserts I've ever had.

Ingrained is a rare find! It's really great to have a healthier sweet treat spot with such a wide variety of dietary-friendly finds. From keto cookies to homemade peanut and cashew butter cups, there's something for everyone. The house specialty, however, is their massive selection of vegan "ice-cream"-like bars which are mostly high protein and made with clean ingredients. Almost everything is gluten and dairy-free as well. I ordered the cookie butter caramel brownie bar and enjoyed it. It was definitely very sweet and satisfied my dessert craving. I didn't feel that the flavors were particularly strong and didn't taste the cookie butter, but I enjoyed the gooey texture and melted ice-cream effect from the date syrup. Also, all of the products are made in-house with rotating flavors. The prices are quite high, but it would take a lot of money, time, and effort at home to recreate the treats. Overall, I enjoyed the experience and encourage folks to pay this small but mighty business a visit!

The first time I came here was on my birthday. The guy who took our order was so nice and mentioned that they are known for their ice cream bars. Well, I think they should be known for the banana bread cup. It was freaking deliciousness in a bite. The second time I came, I got the cookie dough cup. It was yummy but it didn't beat the banana bread one. That's the best thing i've had there. It was nice that they ave us water cups and let me use a knife so I could share with my friends.

Stopped by again to pick up more and the owners remembered us which is nice. We tried two new flavors and got the Brownie bar again: - Slutty Brownie bar - Banana Cream Pie bar - Wild Berry Matcha Cheesecake bar It might be just because I like bananas but, the Banana Cream Pie bar is my new favorite. I'm not the biggest fan of matcha, but my girlfriend recommends it if you do and it's in stock. 10/10 across the board.

Honestly impressed. Swung by because I wanted a post-workout snack and was not disappointed. Flavors are thoughtful and balance well. The bars feel grounded and like you're having real food. Folks were super friendly and had a brief chat with the person that created them. Cute shop too! Coming back this evening for more lol. I got the carrot cake (tasted like fall!) and cookie/coffee flavor.

Beautiful shop, tasty snacks, amazing people! We stopped by for a Twix Ice cream bar, and a pb cup. We left with samples! They are so sweet!!We came in with our babygirl and they offered her some bites and offered us samples of one of their ice creak bars! They are super friendly and professional! I wish I knew sooner about this place! Will definitely visit soon again! Their prices seem fair to me, the snacks are a good size and so tasty!! Extremely healthy at that! Thank you guys :) Wish you the best!

Cool little bakery that specializes in plant based and raw foods. Ingrained is limited in both the space and hours. Mostly this is just a place to come in and take it out. Also has dining but it's pretty limited to get in. The flatbreads are good but the sweets are what people like most about it though. Bakeries are usually pretty tough for vegans to buy things at. It's hard to find things without eggs and milk. This place though has these types of things. All kinds. There's the little bite sized treats. If those aren't enough, you can get one of the pies. There was an Oreo and Reese's flavored one that was the shizz. Has more than just desserts of course. There's also the flatbreads that are good if you like pizza. Has a lot to choose from in this small bakery. It's usually only open from the late afternoon to evening. This is a good bakery if looking for something gluten free or for vegans.

Everything is home made on the premises. The shop is small and carryout only, but the pastry choices are plenty. Everything is vegan, Gf, dairy free, healthy! There are frozen brownie-like sweets in flavors like cake batter, wild berry pop-tart, key lime pie and slutty brownie. Today's non-flour cups were cookie dough, white chocolate caramel PB chip, caramel cashew and others. The owner explains the treats and what Vegan means. The Caramel Cashew square was delicious. Recommend.

Ingrained is truly one of a kind. As a dietitian, finding places that actually care about the quality of the ingredients and the nutrient density is near impossible. I have been coming here for over 5 years and have never gotten something that wasn't delicious. It is truly a unicorn of an establishment!

I understand gluten free ingredients are expensive, but $22 for a skillet where 3 (eggs, bacon, and veggies) out of the 4 items (eggs, bacon, veggies, and bread) are already naturally gluten free is disappointing. I felt ripped off. @meni - Thanks for the comment! Cute business name! ;)

The staff was warm and attentive throughout the meal and brought out delicious complimentary french bread. It's pretty cool that although the restaurant doesn't serve alcohol, staff from the adjacent bar came around every so often and took orders. For appetizers, we started with the feta and olive appetizers. They were good, but I'd probably order something a little more unique next time. I opted for the chicken kalamata dinner for the main event, which came with more french bread and a salad. The salad came out first, and it was pretty simple with minimal dressing. I wished there had been more variety in produce and something besides iceberg lettuce for greens. I'd recommend getting some feta on the side to add some flavor. The chicken, however, was absolutely outstanding. It was super tender, seasoned beautifully with za'atar, and brined in vinegar (I think). The za'atar seasoned french fries underneath were extra crispy and perfectly soaked up the extra sauce from the chicken. For the price, this place is a steal- you really can't beat the quantity and quality of food that you get. Overall, a great experience- I definitely recommend making a stop if you're in the area!

The flavor was really good and the honey mustard complimented it nicely but it only came with 6 small potatoes which wasn't worth the $10 to us. The pizza had cured pepperoni, hot honey, ricotta, basil, mozzarella, and marinara and was fantastic. I would come back just for this pizza. 1 Star -- Great atmosphere, disappointing food and service…read more Summer House has clearly figured out how to create a beautiful, energetic Chicago brunch scene. Unfortunately, the food and service don't come close to matching the hype, and this was one of the more disappointing breakfasts I've had in the city. I ordered the three-egg breakfast with an English muffin, sausage and hash browns. I specifically requested the hash browns well done. What arrived were cold, rubbery, obviously pre-made hash browns that were among the worst I've ever been served. When I asked about making a substitution on one of the breakfast burritos, I was told it wasn't possible because the burritos are pre-made. That's a pretty significant red flag for a restaurant charging these prices and presenting itself as a quality brunch destination. The sausage was nothing special, although the English muffin--advertised as homemade--was perfectly fine. The bigger issue is that the meal felt assembled rather than cooked to order. Service wasn't much better. Drink service was slow enough that our server came around asking about refills literally as we were paying the check. To her credit, she did offer iced teas to go, which was a nice recovery. They also accommodated us when we arrived about 25 minutes early, and I appreciated that. I have also worked as a "secret shopper" for Lettuce Entertain You, so I know their service protocols. One of the things I was specifically trained to watch for was the proper checkback. The expectation isn't for a server to ask, "How's everything tasting?" The assumption is that the kitchen has already done its job and that the food is being served correctly. The appropriate checkback is essentially, "Can I bring you anything else?" This did not happen. That distinction matters. Asking "How's everything tasting?" immediately suggests that the server is checking on the quality of the food rather than following the service protocol. During my time as a "secret shopper," that would have been a clear indication that the server needed additional training. And in this case, considering the cold, rubbery hash browns and the pre-made nature of some of the food, perhaps the quality of the kitchen deserves some attention too. The bottom line: Summer House has a great atmosphere, but atmosphere isn't food. It feels like a place where the crowd is more interested in the room and the experience than whether the breakfast on the plate is actually good. You can get a substantially better breakfast at countless Chicago diners for less money, without the hype. Beautiful room. Busy scene. They did accommodate us early. But the food was poor, the drink service was disappointing, and the value simply isn't there.

The truffle-parmesan fries: We couldn't tell if they were too salty or just salty enough, but somehow we couldn't stop eating them! I ordered the baby wedge salad with chicken, and while the chicken looked small at first, it ended up being a large enough portion to last the salad. We were also surprised with complimentary desserts: the Chocolate Chunk Cookie Skillet and Buck Russell's Cake. Though I'm not a sweet person, my dining companions thoroughly enjoyed them.

Over all this place was okay, and when I say okay it was mediocre…read more How ever I would like to point out that the staff and I repeat the staff was very friendly not to mention very welcoming. I came here with three others and we all ordered different things from the brunch menu along with a few drinks. The atmosphere here is open, modern, and pretty eye catching, we all heard a few negative comments about brunch here and rather than just taking words of advice we came anyways. To be honest we should've went elsewhere, the only thing about the food that actually seemed to have any flavor was the fries and even they were a little salty like my wallet when we left LOL The Jumbo (not so much) Lump Crab Benedict at $25 was honestly boring lacking any flavor also it didn't even come with potatoes I ended up sharing my Lincoln Park Turkey Club that was good but even it was pretty basic at $21, the Burger at $21 literally looked like something off the kids menu the bun was bigger than the patty LOL and the Blackened Chicken Caesar at $19 was more like an appetizer size and the chicken at least it was juicy not dry. Other reviews about brunch here seem to be about the same and honestly I think it's funny they don't even try to elevate their food when so many say about the same things. I think the only reason why people come to this place is 1. It's located in Lincoln Park and 2. that makes it a trendy spot to eat. So why bother fixing anything when it's just trendy and flavorless Their brunch is mediocre but apparently dinner is where it's at. However after the experience with brunch I'm not even sure I would even go back. Come here for the staff eat at your own expense maybe your food will have flavor or not but honestly do what you want and keep it trendy
