It's been a long while since we visited My Thai, so we did not know what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised that My Thai is still a worthy Thai food visit. The ambiance and music were very calming and relaxing and Emily provided us excellent service. We ordered the full orders of Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles with tofu, while ending the meal with the Crispy Banana Rolls. Everything was delicious, fresh and satisfying. I brought my daughter today who's visiting from out of state bc this was always her favorite place. She ordered half the menu and I must say, everything was incredible. Black pepper chicken, Mongolian beef, pad Thai, mango sticky rice... even the soup and salad were sooo flavorful. Huge bonus that our server, Emily, was excellent. And the family who runs it couldn't be more gracious and hospitable. I now understand why my daughter insisted we drove an hour to eat here haha! So much love poured in to their food and it shows. I was really craving mango sticky rice, and it did not disappoint! The mango was fresh, and the sticky rice had just the right amount of sweetness. I also ordered a small Tom Kha shrimp soup. The flavor was excellent, but it only came with four shrimp. The onion pieces were very large, and there were only two pieces of tomato, although it did have a generous amount of mushrooms. Ordered from Ubereats and picked up. Restaurant was clean, typical of family style Thai restaurants. Service - our order was ready in 10 minutes from time of ordering. Not sure if that is good or bad - could mean the food were already pre-cooked. Food - we ordered papaya salad which was ok but portion was very small considering I paid $13.99 for it. We ordered pad Thai and fried rice (Jain food no onions no garlic) and side noodles with Thai ice tea to go. It wasn't very busy so they told us it will take 15 minutes and it was ready in 5 minutes. We had the plain noodles for the kids but that doesn't come with salt so we asked for salt and they said they don't have it but then they gave us the bottle salt. We were mixing noodles and just to make sure it has enough salt, we asked kids to taste it and they were like you cannot eat here for to go order. Which was a bit strange. Such a wonderful time at this restaurant. Was looking for a more intimate and smaller authentic thai restaurant and this was perfect. The food was excellent, the restaurant was small but didn't feel cramped, and service was quick. If you're looking for authentic thai food, I would recommend this place! First time trying My Thai, after passing it on my commute for YEARS! Inside is set up like a typical Mom & Pop eatery, quaint and cozy, very clean. Our host was very friendly and very detailed suggested items on the menu since it was our first time in. Only down side is we ordered Pad Thai three different times as they "forgot it" the first few times, no discount offered but ehh no biggie. I've tried just about every Thai restaurant in the La Mirada, Whittier, Fullerton area and I must say, this one surprisingly beat my expectations and prices for the portions and quality were great! Food: My wife and I ordered the Tom Yum Soup with Shrimp, which was quite tasty! Lot of flavor but if you don't like sour too much, you might want to ask them to make it less sour but I loved it as it was! The Pad Thai with Chicken was so good! The noodles had a different texture compared to other spots but it was actually better than I thought! We ordered the Larb Chicken Salad and let me say, this was my favorite item! Reminded me of ceviche but in a salad! The service here was great and the server made sure to tend to our questions and needs, very thankful for that. My family and I had the cream cheese puffs (8 pieces for $8.99), pad Thai with chicken ($12.99), small tom Kha chicken soup ($7.99), BBQ plate ($18.99), and crispy banana rolls with ice cream ($7.99). I recommend trying this place since they serve solid Thai food portions that are shareable and affordable. The pad Thai didn't taste bland at all, and the noodles had a good texture to them. The BBQ plate had two pieces each of BBQ chicken, BBQ pork spare ribs, beef satay, and BBQ shrimp. The boneless sore ribs had a satisfying and soft texture to them with a savory flavor that came from the grill. I recommend trying their spare ribs. All the meat had good texture and didn't have any chewiness. The cream cheese puffs tasted good and made our dinner extra filling. The tom kha soup tasted great, and the small portion felt just right since we ordered other items. However, it didn't arrive at the same time as the appetizer but rather with the rest of the main entrees. The dessert came with crispy banana rolls, coconut vanilla ice cream, and honey. For a shareable dessert, this was affordable, and the honey drizzled onto the ice cream made it delectable. read more

I've been meaning to write this update since the ownership changed (right before COVID?); I was also planning to up the starrage to four, but sometimes my procrastination is a good thing. Between those 2019 plans and now, I've been here at least a dozen times, probably more, and what was initially a consistent four-star experience is now somewhat diminished. More often than not, we order takeout, and that option is generally good. The food is always ready quickly, and although they do a very good takeout business, they're efficient at the counter, so even if you're in line, you'll pay and get your food quickly. The food is very good about 80 percent of the time. Other times, though, it's very oily, or it's lacking in flavor, or they give you noticeably less meat and/or fewer vegetables. This has never happened two orders in a row, but it happens often enough that it's noteworthy. The food seems to be consistently better when I've dined in, but the flip side of that is that the service is pretty spotty. It really depends on how busy they are, whether you're seated next to other parties, and how much you order. I've noticed that when we're a larger party and order, say, appetizers and Thai iced tea, we get more frequently checkups and table busing. But when I go with my parents, we typically order two entrees total (they always share pad see ew), and that seems to lead to empty water glasses and it taking far too long to get our check. The servers are friendly when they're around; they're just not always around. It's the go-to takeout spot for Thai, but I'm still searching for a consistent sit-down restaurant in the area. read more

First time trying this restaurant. Met one of my comadres here for dinner. Was craving Pad Woon Sen for dinner and it didn't disappoint. We had the vegetable eggrolls for appetizers and it was great! Hot, crunchy and flavorful. My Comadre ordered the Pad Thai and she loved it! Service was fast and efficient. This Thai place is beyond belief. The cashew nut chicken I ordered came with soup, egg roll and salad. I ordered fried rice on the side na the whole meal was throughly enjoyable. The fried rice was tasty and moist, not like the other than places where the fried rice is often oily and sticky. The cashew chicken was perfectly cooked and the cashews were nicely roasted. We were promptly seated and this might sound like a weird comment, but I really like how you don't sink into their booths lol. I usually come here for my go-to Kai Kua, but this time was really disappointing. Not sure if there's a new cook or ownership, but the bean sprout ratio was overwhelming. My whole plate was mostly sprouts. On top of that, they had an odd taste, almost like sanitizer or cleaner. I called and the staff kindly offered to replace the meal and deliver it, which I appreciate, but the flavor was so off that I couldn't bring myself to eat it. Was craving some pad see ew, and this place is cheaper than Thai Table down the street, and I think their portions are bigger too. They taste more or less the same to me so it's definitely a better deal! This place doesn't charge extra for beef either. Very delicious plate that I'll be coming back for. Ordered the Crab Puff, Tom Yum Noodle Soup, Drunken Noodle with combination meats, Green Curry with chicken and Spicy Basil Eggplant with combination meats. The crab puffs went straight into the trash. The crab meat was so fishy, could not eat it. The Tom Yum had more noodles than soup. So, when I order combination meats, I expect it to be combination. A nice mix of chicken, beef and shrimp. Both plates had only 2 pieces of shrimp, maybe 5 pieces of beef and filled with dried out chicken. WTH! Also, when I order and eggplant dish, I expect there to be more eggplant than anything else. Nope! There was maybe 7-10 slices of egg plant and of course, an overwhelming amount of dried chicken. Lunch was OK, nothing special. Soup and meal overall was bland and lacking the Thai touch that draws me to Thai restaurants. No lemon grass, cilantro and other Thai spices that make a good Thai meal standout. Watch out for TIPFLATION. Our waitress brought us one of those portable payment pads so that you can total the bill, including tip while she is waiting/watching you. "Suggested Gratuities" were based on the total tab including tax, as follows, 18%, 20%, 22%, 25%, No Tip and Custom Tip. Actual tips "suggested" would have been 19.6%, 21.75%, 24% and 27.2% if calculated based on the actual pretax total. I will not return to this restaurant.
