Quick service, delicious food, pretty outdoor seating, friendly staff and plenty of parking.

Chicken and Rice Bowl

Service was quick, food was cheap, and they serve more than enough food to last two meals! This is my first time going to Viva Chicken, but now I can't wait to go back to the NC area to get these sauces again! The limeade was also one of the best drinks I've ever had

People here are soooooo friendly! Plus for me that their chicken is halal!! Absolutely love their green beans and salad side. Their rice is a hit and miss though but my overall experience here is always fantastic!!

This is similar to places like CAVA but with a different food theme. The food is ready in a short period so if you're not a fan of long wait times at restaurants this one is good. The food is very good, though be wary they can be a little heavy on the seasonings if you aren't one to eat with a lot of seasonings. The sauces they have is so good! The service is amazing. The people waiting on you is so quick to serve your food and clean the place. I definitely recommend coming here.

So had a meeting in Greensboro and after that I decided to go to Viva chicken which is right by my highway return ramp. Apparently they were having an issue with their register system because only cash people could order at the register. Nice young man showed me how to use the app so that I could order & pay online for my takeout. What they do with the food is very good maybe not as good as my beloved chicken fiesta from Virginia, but will do in a pinch.. hopefully they will resolve their point of sale issues because some customers probably would've just walked away. I know my parents and their peers would've and that would be a shame because the

Great atmosphere and friendly service every time! The food is really good- some of it feels a little basic but it's tasty, especially with the sauces. Will be back!

Viva Las Vegas. No, of course not. Viva Chicken is what I meant. Always delicious no matter what you get. I had the 1/2 chicken with yucca and fried rice. Wifey had a salad. Yummy she said. The service was amazing. The young lady who took our order was very friendly. Other rest need her to teach them how to treat their customers. The dining area was clean and suitable for dining. Keep it up Chicken.

Naked Peruvian Wrap with all white meat
LeKeshia D.

Came here with a coworker who swears by this place. The place was clean, inside and out. I got the Naked Peruvian Wrap with all white meat. I wish it was listed on the menu that there were onions, so I could have gotten it removed. Also, I wish someone mentioned the sauces that were stationed on the other side of the restaurant. Thankfully it wasn't covered in onions. I believe knowing about the sauce would have helped me push through the wrap quicker. Despite all of that, the wrap was decent. The fruit was good. The sweet tea wasn't really sweet, and the Dr. Pepper I tried wasn't to par either. I'm hoping it's an off day. I am willing to come back and try again. The chicken quarters looked really good.

I have been to Peru a few times, and have had the opportunity to have authentic Peruvian "Pollo Peruano." This place comes pretty close! The ambiance is great, very spacious and upscale. Side dishes were delicious. The chicken it self was cooked juicy, service was very fast. The sauces were all very good too. They just about nailed the aji amarillo in my opinion. Definitely consider going here for a "deluxe", casual dining experience.

Viva Chicken is an excellent addition to the Triad. Although a chain, it still feels somewhat small-time. It's a fast-casual take on Peruvian style rotisserie chicken or pollo a la brasa. I enjoyed my chicken sandwich, and the various specialty drinks available to pair with a meal. Fries were perfect and went together nicely with the salsas. Service was good as usual with a fast casual establishment. Looking forward to my next visit.

1/2 chicken with 2 sides

The food was very good. Tje cashier recommend the chicken which turned out to be really tender and seasoned. Setvice was really exceptional and they also bring the food to the table. The green verde sauce reminds me of the Mexican fresh salsa Verde sauce with a little more kick. All 4 sauces that was given was really good. The cilantro rice was good however the green beans were very gingery...the ginger flavor really over took the freshness from the green beans. The atmosphere of the restaurant was really nice. Hopefully when returning I will try something new.

What a pleasant surprise! I checked Viva Chicken's latest menu items including the verde chicken dishes. The burrito and the tacos are so full of flavor and I absolutely LOVE the greens sauce- it's exactly like the authentic Peruvian sauce I had back in NYC. Plus the restaurant has such cool artwork all around the walls that creates such a welcoming space. The servers are super friendly and answer any questions about the menu, I absolutely loved my experience here. Also, you MUST try the churros- they are delicious!

Thought I'd check out this place based on reviews and have to agree with the reviews. I had the tacu bowl with chicken and cilantro rice. Beautiful combination with savory flavors that make your mouth water.

Then the Bistec a lo Pobre, the ultimate Peruvian comfort food. Juicy steak, caramelized onions, rice and beans, and a fried egg on top - bc of course. Somehow everything works together without feeling over the top. The service was warm and welcoming. The staff is super helping at explaining the dishes and offering suggestions. The atmosphere is casual but inviting - nothing flashy, just a cozy spot that lets the food do the talking. Bottom line: come hungry, bring adventurous tastebuds, and maybe wear stretchy pants!

By the time I left around 6, there were people standing and waiting to be seated. The patio was open with one couple enjoying the nice weather and relative quiet of outdoors. Embur recently relocated to Smyres Place in Greensboro and the new space feels much smaller than I expected. The design reminded me of what I imagine a modern restaurant in Peru might look like. Industrial with solid wood floors, warm finishes, and a large wine display. There are around 25 to 26 tables, mostly two tops and four tops. The largest table seats six, but they will push tables together for larger groups. While I was there, a group of more than 20 came in celebrating something and they were seated quickly without disrupting the rest of the room. The small patio has outdoor seating with about 8 tables and a they have bar area with about nine comfortable seats. The menu took me a minute to understand but I ended up liking the setup. You choose your entrée, which comes with set ingredients, and then choose your protein. Each protein has a different price, so you can control the cost of your meal somewhat. Most menu items can also be made gluten free according to the menu, and vegetarian options seem easy to do. For my appetizer, I ordered the flatbread. Perfection. Rosemary, olive oil, sea salt. Crispy outside, soft inside, and so flavorful I almost ate the whole thing before my meal was served. The server came with water right away and remain attentive but not intrusive the whole time. For my entree, I ordered the Arroz Chaufa with salmon. Arroz Chaufa literally means fried rice. At first the dish seemed a bit salty to me, but once I added the green sauce that comes with it (served on the side), everything balanced out. The green sauce has very mild heat, so if you are not a fan of spicy food, that is the one I would recommend. There is a list of sauces so I assume you can customize your entree. According to my server, the other sauces bring more heat. The salmon was excellent, well seasoned but not too much, and moist. The portion was ample. I was very hungry but I had leftovers to bring home. Service was exactly what I want when dining alone. Attentive without being intrusive. I watched Netflix while I ate and enjoyed my meal without feeling rushed or bothered. The noise level is average for a busy small restaurant. Comfortable enough to relax, but if you want to talk to someone in your group a couple of seats away, you will need your outside voice. This place feels upscale without being fussy, so expected to pay more than average, but I thought it was good value for the quality and portions. I loved this restaurant and will absolutely go back. Must order: Rosemary flatbread appetizer. Tip: Ask about sauce heat before ordering. If you do not like spicy food, start with the green sauce.

AUTHENTIC! Quick service and nicely decorated…read more Having spent 12 years of my life in Peru, I feel confident with my assessment of Mi Peru. I was in town for business and as in every location I travel to, I look for Peruvian food. This is in my top three. One was in Austin, TX, one in St Louis, MO and now this one in Durham, NC. I had the lunch special. It included a drink, soup and entree. Of course you have to drink Inca Cola (tastes like Squirt with Cream Soda) nice and cold. I'll have to get a Chicha Morada to take with me (which I did, and it was fruity and sweet, like a non-alcoholic sangria with cinnamon). The soup was a chicken and lentil soup with various veggies. As soon as I tasted it, I knew I was in for a treat and prayed the Aji de Gallina would be just as good. It was! Aji de Gallina is a shredded chicken dish made with Peruvian Aji amarillos, nuts, Parmesan cheese. Add in all the delicious spices Peru is known for and you have a wonderful, homey, delicious dish. I will be coming back tonight for dinner. Can't decide if I want the Seco de Res or the Lomo Saltado. Both staple dishes in Peru. Part 2 - so...I was too tired to go back for dinner. BUT, I did order in. I got the Papa à la Huancaina (so delicious, it tasted like I make at home). It is a creamy, Aji Amarillo cheese sauce over yellow potatoes. I would have liked it a little spicier, but I understand having to cater to the general public, so I'll let that slide. But the flavor was as good as you could get. I also opted to order the Seco since I thought it would travel better than the Lomo Saltado. The rice was perfect. Not soggy or spongy. Just right. Flavored with a little salt and garlic. You could eat it by itself. The Seco meat was tender. I didn't even use a knife to cut it. In fact, it pulled apart easily with a plastic fork. I would have liked a little more of the cilantro sauce to soak up in my rice. The flavors were right on, but I love cilantro...so. It even came with a Salsa Criolla (lightly pickled red onion), which is authentic and served with many Peruvian dishes. I ordered additional salsa amarillo just to taste. It's a sauce made with aji amarillo and black mint. I know it sounds weird but it's actually so tasty and fresh. My only disappointment were the beans not that they weren't good and flavorful, but they were pinto beans. I was really expecting mayacoba beans (similar to a white canary bean). Sorry, I ate it before thinking about taking pictures. All in all, I would rate this highly for those wanting to try authentic Peruvian food. My next visit to Durham I'll be trying the Ceviche and Lomo Saltado.

It was delicious and the portion was ENORMOUS. The shrimp was juicy, cooked well. It was overall a really tasty dish and I would absolutely order it again. It also comes with a nice spicy creamy sauce on the side and they provided more free of charge as well when I asked and they gave a little container of sauce for my leftovers. My daughter had the macaroni and cheese (there's a kids menu on the right hand side of the menu which is a bit hard to see/read with white font letters on yellow). They also have chicken tenders. All of the kids menu items come with your choice of one side. We picked fries and the portion was very generous. They were on the soggier side but I like soggy fries so that was a plus for me. I ordered the lomo saltado for takeout with an Inca cola and my husband said it was good. The woman at the front was very personable and friendly and the restaurant was decorated with Christmas decorations including a cute white Christmas tree. They've got red Peruvian tablecloths on every table (the ones at the booths have a glass on top for easy cleaning). We actually started off at a 2 person table but moved because the tablecloth and chair moved around a lot (toddler problems). To quote the terminator, "I'll be back."

It's billed as Peruvian rotisserie chicken and Mexican food, but apparently the Mexican cook wasn't there so no one could fix a taco. So we tried to order from the Peruvian menu, but they didn't have the chicken on there either. At this point, we just said give us whatever you have, which turned out to be a leg quarter, fries and small salad. The chicken was very juicy and had been rubbed with a spice mixture that had garlic, cumin, salt.pepper, garlic and onion powder i think. I would have liked to have the skin cooked more crispy, but otherwise it was pretty good and the mustard-based Peruvian hot sauce was great with it. The salad was lettuce shreds with tomato and cucumber slice with a mustard and vinegar based dressing, it was ok but hard to eat with a plastic fork. The fries were just typical frozen fries, but they were hot, crisp and pretty good when doused with their hot sauce. Also had what was supposed to be a pineapple agua fresca, but it just tasted like coconut which i detest so that got returned. The plate was $7.99 which i think is a bit high for what you get. This wasn't bad, but it wouldn't cause me to go out of the way to get it again. If i were there and hungry i would go back. It's not nearly as good as the place up the street that went out of business, so i don' think this place will last long unfortunately. The man that runs it was super nice and helpful, so I wish him well.
