I have to admit, my wife and daughter picked this place driving down the highway and it is not much to look at from the outside but WOW!! The inside is amazing! We were starving on way up 84 to Boise. Read the reviews and decided to take a chance. Its a small old cafe that sits right next to the street. We sat in the corner next to a huge very clean window. Our waitress was very nice, reccomend tge special. I had a cup of piping hot coffee. We ordered chicken fried steak, salad, joe had fries, i had a baked potato, andcwe both had corn and these mile high fresh baked warm yeast rolls. Joe had pecan pue for dessert. He loved everything. I especially enjoyed the brown gravy and the rolls. They have a counter with stools . Very old time cafe with hot fresh made to order food. I preface all my reviews with I'm not a foodie. But I still like my food cooked. Raw eggs, burnt sausage and raw chicken. It was terrible. I mean I'm not a foodie, but I also don't want to get ill. This is on top of the fact they obviously don't think COVID is a thing. They had a sign on the door that expressly indicated they weren't going to enforce mask restrictions and inside was all the proof needed. Not only did the servers regularly take their masks off (including to cough loudly) through the pass window you could see the cooks weren't even wearing them. Of course none of the patrons were wearing them at all. The service was terrible, the atmosphere was hostile (because we were wearing masks) and the food was inedible. Go anywhere else. The Oregon Trail Motel is FAR superior and with excellent service. The best I got in the town. read more

What a great place. My wife has owned and operated her own restaurants for years, and since she's retired it's hard to find one that makes the grade. The Inland Cafe gets an A+. The food looks and taste great, but equally important is the service. Even during the Covid restrictions that are in effect, the waitresses did a fantastic job. They were pleasant and engaging. They knew the menu, they were always busy taking care of anyone that came through the door. We never waited for refills on coffee and were checked on throughout the meal. The restaurant itself is clean and bright and the bathrooms are obviously cleaned and maintained regularly. Next time we are in Baker City, I'm sure we'll be back. Great Place. read more

Pay no attention that it states takeout only. I looked up places to eat I'm Baker City and this place jumped out at me, and it definitely did not disappoint! It's a little off the beaten path, but so worth it! It is huckleberry season so we got the huckleberry pancakes and chicken fried steak. The potions are huge and the food was so delicious! They served warm huckleberry syrup to go with the pancakes and it hit the spot! I had a biscuit and it was a ball of crumbly yumminess! The whipped butter was a nice touch that melted so good on my roll! Loved this spot and will make it a regular spot to stop by when driving through every time! read more

No, you won't find your vegan-friendly options, nor organic veggies or free-range beef...but they do have a very respectable selection of breakfast/lunch/dinner items ranging from a Mushroom burger, to many omelets, to twice-weekly prime rib Friday/Saturdays (sadly, it's not local beef as one might expect :-( It's got a homey feeling with friendly staff; everyone seems to know everyone and you'll get what you expect. Employees at the Inland need to pull back their hair or put a hair net over their beards better. The only thing bad I can say about this little gem is that the food was so good I ate my whole breakfast and felt bloated like a tic for hours afterward. LOL. If I was hunting in the region, 10/10 I'd get breakfast here before I go hiking in the hills. We stopped in last Sunday morning for breakfast, travelling from Ontario to Salem. I can't say enough great things about this place. Food was amazing - I recommend the veggie omelet and huckleberry pancakes. Staff are professional, engaging, courteous and fast! Service was as good as it gets. Servers were fun, kind, engaging and very attentive. Affordable!!! We had been on a trip to Yellowstone with three young men with huge appetites.
