We were in the area passing through and stayed one night here and happened to find this place. The food was absolutely delicious. It was so nice to find a place that has gluten free items. The gluten free pancakes were so incredible. I wish we were staying longer so we could have the chance to eat here again. Just after 11:00 on a weekday morning and the place was busy. I was in heaven...cinnamon roll French toast, eggs and bacon. My husband had chicken and waffles with a Marianberry syrup. Another of the local diners that was just screaming our name for a breakfast run. We seemed to have developed quite the penchant for greasy spoons. The seating area is fairly small, but it was not terribly crowded when we arrived and we had our choice of booths. The walls were adorned with an assortment of country quaintness, mostly hunting or fishing related. Our hostess/waitress was friendly and attentive. She seemed very familiar with the other customers and I assume the locals are all regulars here. The food was certainly good enough for us to return. Maybe one day we'll be the ones she knows on a first name basis and has our favorite orders memorized. I had my standard French Toast with a side of scrambled eggs and bacon, each was prepared just the way I like them. The French Toast was made with white bread, not soggy, and was delicious. My bacon was well done, but not burnt, with no fat and my eggs were fluffy and no runny bits anywhere to be seen. My boyfriend also ordered his standard. Country fried steak and hash browns, with eggs over medium. I have had a bite of his steak at every place we've been and honestly, I can't say I can tell a difference, but he loves it. I noticed a review for especially weak coffee, but we did not encounter this issue. The coffee was standard issue brew strength. read more

Although she never visited the cafe before, my mom grew up in the area, so we were excited to see a local business that has been around for a while and still thrives! When I read the review I wonder what these folks are used to eating. We had a group of 4 folks. We all had senior portion. Portion size was good. Service was fair and server was pleasant. If you're into diners, this is a great place to stop. It's a bit hidden if you are blowing past Baker City, OR. It is the typical, local-owned, no frills inside diner with the typical diner fare. It is reasonably priced, quick, fresh food delivered in a clean, friendly place. The service is wonderful. We stop in Baker City frequently since it's half way for our trips visiting relatives and never leave before having breakfast here. read more

I'd been staying in Baker for about a week, and had never even been on this side of town, until a local couple that has been living here for 40+ years decided to take me here, and boy am I glad that they did! First off, I love anywhere that serves breakfast all day - it's my favorite meal! We walked in around lunch time, and the place was just starting to get packed by the locals. I had the Mushroom, Sausage and Cheese omelet, and my hosts each had the chicken fried steak. I asked for the hashbrowns to be crispy, and they came out perfect! We ended up at this place on our last run through to Idaho. My favorite joint had run out of my gluten-free crust, so we ended up here because eggs are always a backup option. This is a basic cafe...nothing flavorful or imaginative and nothing memorable. Typical diner cafe, with hard seat, two-chair tables and press board seat benches. The only gluten free options on the menu were egg breakfasts, sans toast. The hash browns are clearly frozen and not cooked well. The eggs are eggs. It's hard to mess that up. For forgettable, canned, bland food, I feel the prices are a tad high. We had waters, and getting a refill was impossible. Once our food arrived, the wait staff scattered to the winds. You walk to the register to pay...or perhaps that was more of the lack of waitstaff. We were not impressed. read more

Local color is the vibe at the Inland Cafe. Most people know each other. Contractors, ranchers and the like banter and talk between tables. Service matched the clientele. Happy, honest, good. The food is really good and honest. Pancakes light and fluffy, perfectly cooked. I missed the nasty dirty grill grease flavor, these were clean and tasty. The biscuits and gravy were also very good, but most people would not realize that after enjoying the pasty white schmootz that lacks any sausage which we are used to. As well, the biscuits were perfect, even though not artificially thick or hopelessly crumbly as a way to achieve popular "lightness". I was excited when I looked in the back to see an aged kitchen, as proven by the wooden cooler door, just like the ones I first used in the old days. Spotless? No. Clean, yes. Organized, purposeful and skilled. I want to come back to Baker City to eat at Inland. Oh, one thing, the coffee was poured with much generosity, but was really tasteless. read more

It was recommended we try out the prime rib on Friday or Saturday night. I had noticed the cafe while driving around town. Service was excellent! The ladies were very friendly. Seemed to be a lot of locals dining too. Real mashed potatoes and homemade rolls. It was so good!! Serving size was generous, I could not eat all the potatoes. Oh! Horrible service, Waitresses are rude only pleasant to certain locals. Prices are ridiculously high. Prices are like of a fine dining restaurant in an old rundown restaurant. You definitely don't get your moneys worth. I ordered a regular breakfast on the menu and only got one piece of toast when normally anywhere else you get two pieces. I asked the waitress why I didn't get two pieces of toast her answer was the owner felt that people were wasting too much toast so they decided to only give the customers one. I replied that if I'm paying full price for my food I should get exactly what's on the menu that I order and not what the owner feels I should get. I will never go back again.
