While I was out of town on July 12, 2026, I developed severe pain on the lower right side of my mouth. As soon as I returned, I scheduled an emergency appointment for July 15. I also had a previously scheduled deep cleaning appointment for July 16. During my emergency visit, the female dentist appeared to minimize my concerns. Instead of focusing on the area where I was experiencing pain, she asked whether I had seen an endodontist for a referral from a year earlier and questioned a shadow in my gums that had existed for over 30 years on the opposite side of my mouth. I requested X-rays, and a 360-degree scan was performed. After reviewing the images, she told me everything looked fine, that I had no cavities, gave me Sensodyne toothpaste for tooth sensitivity, and said I was cleared to proceed with my deep cleaning the following day. Later that same day, the office coordinator called and told me they wanted me to see the endodontist before my cleaning. I went to the appointment, and within five minutes the endodontist identified a cavity. My primary dentist confirmed the finding and recommended that my wisdom tooth be extracted. I was extremely upset that my condition had been missed during my emergency visit. I asked to speak with the female dentist who had evaluated me, but she was unavailable. I scheduled the extraction for July 17, 2026. Because I had previously had a successful experience using nitrous oxide during another tooth extraction, I requested it again to help manage my anxiety. I was numbed for the procedure and was told I was receiving nitrous oxide, but I never felt its effects. I noticed the dental assistant was on the phone for much of the procedure, and it appeared that no one ensured the nasal cannula was properly positioned. I informed both the oral surgeon and the assistant that I did not feel like I was receiving the nitrous oxide, but my concerns were dismissed. I remained anxious throughout the procedure, and the extraction was ultimately unsuccessful. I left the office emotional, traumatized, and deeply disappointed. This was the worst dental experience I have ever had. As healthcare providers, listening to patients is essential. I repeatedly expressed my concerns and felt they were ignored every step of the way. I will not be returning to this office. I also plan to verify that my insurance was not billed for procedures that were not completed, including the deep cleaning and the unsuccessful tooth extraction. I hope this review encourages the office to improve communication, patient care, and attention to patient concerns so that others do not have a similar experience.

He recommended a follow up visit to see if my gum recession gets worse which I scheduled. I asked him for a quote for the surgery incase its needed so I can budget and save. Gum surgery could cost anywhere between 1k-5k. Dr.Newbold approved getting me a quote at the front desk. I was in a hurry so I told the front desk I'll email them the surgery quotes and in person they approved sending me the quote for the surgery. I emailed them multiple times afterwards and they refused to send me the quote the doctor approved. They kept telling me to call them but even in one instance when I called they refused to give me the quote over the phone. I emailed them to cancel my follow up visit. After I cancelled they suddenly billed me $130 dollars. When I called them before hand and saw them in person they also told me insurance covered my visit. Their team did not actually check if my visit was covered the two times I asked. Dr. Newbold himself is fine to see as a dentist, but the people working the front desk are abysmal and deceitful. Doesn't really make sense for me to pay $130 after they refused to give me quotes for the surgery, which is why I made the appointment in the first place.

I was referred to them by my dentist, Dr. Janet Churella, DDS of Chino (RIP) due to my gums receding way in the late 1990's. After years of brushing with Extra soft toothbrushes that this office had provided me, my gums have no longer receded further thanks to my bi-yearly check ups here. When the dentist finally came in, he did not greet me, introduce himself, or explain anything. He came in grunting, immediately grabbed my bottom lip with force, and said "lots of tartar" -- which I already knew, that's why I scheduled the appointment. He then walked away to see another patient. Meanwhile, he spoke politely and attentively to the next patient, asking her about her concerns -- I was never asked how I was feeling, what my symptoms were, or anything about my pain. After this brief interaction, the dentist never returned. After nearly three hours in the office, I was told no treatment would be done that day. I was only given a prescription, and even that was communicated indirectly through the assistant while he was in the room. This experience felt dismissive, disrespectful, and completely unprofessional. Patients deserve basic courtesy, communication, and consent -- none of which I received here.
