Hi! My name is Vida and I am a Pit mix rescue. My parents adopted me on November 12, 2023. I had been on the streets for who knows how long of my 2 1/2 year old life, and was full of bad habits, and needed some serious training. Good thing we found Nate!! Even tho I was stubborn, at times, I am now a walkable dog who is socialized, and doesn't freak out when I see other dogs or humans! My parents totally recommend Innate Dog Training and Nate and John!

I was referred to Innate Dog Training by a friend. We had a puppy, and wanted to make sure he would be potty trained, social, and overall well behaved. We've been working with Nate now for about 5 months. He's amazing! My now 7 month old Goldendoodle is a potty trained, social, well behaved dog. We absolutely adore him, (my dog, not Nate-though we like Nate too) and we owe a lot of credit to Nate. We did several private on-leash sessions, and are now ready for our off-leash training. Nate does multiple weekly classes (free to his clients) that help my puppy continue to mature. The best part about Innate Dog Training is how Nate makes himself available for calls/ texts seemingly around the clock. You never know what might come up with your dog that can't wait for a session or class, and Nate is there to answer. I'd recommend Innate Dog Training in a heartbeat. It's well worth the time and money. Update: Milo is now 18 months and still a great dog. Thanks again Innate Dog Training! Thanks Nate!

    Well behaved pups!

I was referred to Nate through a mutual friend. I have 2 dogs, a lab and a pitbull around the ages of 6, that he did wonders with! We have been through several trainings over the years, but nothing has stuck long term. Basic in home obedience and on-leash behavior was out of control! My pitbull has also been attacked by other dogs in the past, therefore, gets defensive when approached by other dogs, so I was not comfortable taking her on a simple walk around the block or at our neighborhood park. When Nate came in to work with my dogs, I loved his knowledge of the psychology behind the dogs behavior! He is firm, but gentle, and has amazing patience! I am blown away by his method and how effective it is and has remained to be over the last several months since working with Nate. Nate comes highly recommended as his training was life changing for us!!

We were referred to Nate from a friend that has used him in the past, and when you're talking about you're fur babies... you want the best. We have a Rotti and Mastiff, and had a baby on the way and I wanted to make sure these two were on point all the time. Nate is absolutely amazing! We could not be happier with everything! We did private lessons, and when we started, I couldn't walk the dogs.. period. 150lbs plus pulling me.. now.. I can walk them, with my stroller. Don't worry about the doors open, they are like new dogs. Even guests comment how great they listen now. I would and always will recommend Innate for every furry dog out there. I'd give 10 stars if I could!!!

This is even seen in the replies by the owner, she can clearly "never be wrong." I just want to start by saying this is easily the worst experience I have ever had from any business in my whole life (40 yrs) living in LA, NYC and Las Vegas. Congrats for taking that crown @Confident Canines. Took my puppy here and the owner said on the first class out loud, in a dramatic fashion to everyone, that he bit her when she was feeding him a treat but it was just a passionate grab of the treat, not a bite... her hand was fine and he has never bit anyone, even to this day. He is a kind, albeit excited dog. But not an aggressive one. Instead of doing her job (helping and training dogs), the owner continued her unprofessional behavior by saying we were kicked out of the program and wouldn't receive a refund. Kind of ironic since she runs a dog "confidence" class right? Imagine us, trying to quell our puppy's excitement through the guise of Confident Canines, and then on the first day, the owner kicks you and takes your money. Not a good feeling. The owner should feel ashamed. We have since been to other classes and they have all been fantastic. The same thing happened to other trainers (passionate grab of the treat) and they were mature enough to realize that it was nothing. Everything continued smoothly. Word of advice: if you want to help dogs, then help all dogs EDIT: replying to the owner, we definitely went to your business because I recognize you based on your picture and our credit card charge shows Confident Canines LLC. We also have emails with you. Sad you don't remember - but it makes sense honestly.

Julie has been our trainer for obedience and e-collar, and she is truly amazing. She's extremely knowledgeable, explains everything in a way that's easy to understand, and always takes time during every class to work one-on-one with each dog and owner. You can tell she genuinely cares and wants every dog to succeed. She's also very down-to-earth, easy to talk to, and the dogs absolutely love her. Stormi is a husky, so she can definitely be stubborn and sometimes act like she doesn't understand English when she actually does. Julie really understands the breed (she has several huskies herself), which has made a huge difference. Since starting classes, Stormi's leash walking has improved the most, and she's listening to me so much better instead of barking back at me like she used to... as much. Huskies definitely still have opinions, but the improvement has been huge. I've also noticed a big boost in her confidence. So far we've completed E-Collar, Obedience 1, 2, and 3, and I'm already looking forward to continuing with Obedience 4 and eventually service dog training. One thing I really appreciate is how well Julie works with all kinds of dogs in the class. There have been reactive dogs, anxious dogs, and even deaf dogs, and she does an amazing job helping each one improve. It's really cool seeing every dog make progress week after week. I also started agility with Amanda, and that has been such a fun experience too. Agility has been an awesome bonding activity for Stormi and me, and Amanda does a great job keeping the classes engaging and supportive. I actually found Smarty Paws because I met someone at the dog park whose dog was incredibly well trained compared to Stomri, and they told me this is where they went. I'm really glad they recommended it to me, because it has been such a positive experience. The trainers are knowledgeable, energetic, and genuinely passionate about helping dogs and their owners succeed. Stormi and I both look forward to class every week, and I'm really glad we found this place. Highly recommend!

When my…read morepartner and I were looking for a trainer for our dogs, we weren't blind to what our babies needed to succeed, but we didn't know how to go about it. Denise was the first trainer to write me back, and upon going onto her website and thumbtack account, I read all of the wonderful things that others had said about her - they're all true by the way. Denise sat down and listened to all of our concerns. We have a 1.5 year old rednose pitbull and a 2.5 year old akita/shepherd mix. Both our girls were rescues, and after a really ugly fight among each other, and our vet telling us that they'd NEVER be able to be around each other alone again, we knew we had to do something for them and for ourselves. Even just the consultation, we were able to see what the problem areas were and started a game plan. Five weeks later, and my dogs are almost unrecognizable, compared to before Denise came into our lives. Denise is kind, loving, and knowledgeable. I was so scared I was going to end up with a drill sergeant for a trainer, and that my dogs weren't going to respond to anything anyone said. BOY WAS I WRONG! Both of our dogs took to her and her direction so well - even our 8 year old mini schnauzer mini poodle started to take direction from her, and she wasn't even a focus. They listen better, they play better with one another, and most of all they're trusting us, as their owner's to show them the way, in everything that they do. We will be giving it a few months of trying to do some of our own follow through, and then more than likely touching base with Denise again for some more advanced training. I can't thank you enough, Denise. Thank you for showing us that we can love our dogs, while still providing structure. You have been nothing short of a miracle worker. In the above pictures, you'll be able to see some of our progress. We really hope that more dog owners will take the responsibility of getting the appropriate training that their fur-children need - if they can't do it themselves - and I wouldn't put my faith in anyone that isn't Denise.

This location is closer to where I live so I thought that I'll try them out and the experience would be the same, but I was wrong. The staff is very friendly and the location is very nice but I did not realize when I booked my stay that the location has no indoor play area. That would be generally fine if they have the dogs play outside early in the morning and in the evening when it's not as hot but not throughout the hottest times of the day. When I looked at the cameras, my dog was outside with over 20 dogs packed in a play area during the hottest times of the day. I picked him up on Monday, 6/8, and the staff told us that they barely noticed today that my husky had hot spots on his head and paw. I saw the hotspot and noticed he was also limping because of the hot spot on his paw. I treated the hotspot Monday night and Tuesday, but yesterday I had to take my dog to the vet because the hot spot on his head started to bleed and show puss coming out. The vet shaved it and checked his cheek and found a BIG hot spot on his cheek as well. My dog now has a cone on, I have to spray the spot on his head and cheek every 12 hrs, put ointment on his paw every 12 hrs, and he has to take a antibiotic every 12 hrs for the next 7 days. I'm sure during the winter it's fine to have dogs outside all day but not during the summer! The place is probably fine for a daycare but don't board your pet at this location!
