I was on my way to an evening function in Parsippany and stopped in Armonk for lunch. Not knowing the area, I consulted the Yelp app and found myself a few minutes later at Insalata & Pomidora, a terrific Italian deli. What a choice of foods they have ! Hot sandwiches, cold sandwiches, paninis, wraps, pizzas, salads, and dozens of prepared dishes. I went with one of the prepared dishes- a great tasting Chicken Scarpariello with sausage slices, onions and peppers served over a nice bed of Farro and vegetables. There were some hot pepper rings mixed in there with the chicken and that gave the dish some definite pizzazz. I loved my lunch -the chicken and sausage chunks were delicious, the Farro was perfect, and the sauce was spicy and so good. I added a club soda and paid about $12 for a great meal. You'll love the place - the service was warm and friendly, and it has so many great looking food choices it may take you a while to decide. But the truth is just about anything you choose is bound to be great. Two things more: 1) You'll find it in the rear of the Elide Plaza, on the right side. It's not really visible from the parking lot, but just walk into the complex and you'll see it soon enough. 2) There is no public restroom. read more

The staff is very rude to customers. I thought maybe they just had a bad day but since I've been cursed at on multiple occasions visiting this deli I thought I'd spare other people the trip. We were cursed at because we were going to pay with card and there were no signs posted. We saw them writing other customers card numbers down who didn't have cash so they could charge them later, I assume. When it was our turn we were called assholes. Here's what the BOSS replied to our email explaining what happened... Don't waste the trip and don't waste your money on people who lack basics manners and a filter-who curses at their customers!! Sad that not only the staff, but the owner are unprofessional and rude too. Also.. try posting you only accept cash before allowing people to order. Now they reply saying we were rude and belligerent and racist toward the staff this never happened and I understand people can get aggravated when they are very busy but it's not an excuse to be rude to your customers. I've requested to see this non existent footage but I'm sure won't get a reply, because it's a false accusation. I went here just to buy a slice of pizza. I am ordering from an employee, and the mexican guy steps in front of the employee taking my order, insisting on taking the order himself. A few days earlier I had a headache the day after I had ordered a chicken parmesan and a pizza and I got a headache which I don't normally get. In fact I don't remember the last tine I ever have had one. I just had to sit outside for some time I felt better. He takes my pizza to the back and they spend 6 minutes in the back playing with it - after I saw the worker originality taking my order close the box for it. I don't want to know what they did with the pizza. The creepy bald worker finally comes out with it, just having to give me all kinds of goofy looks, and sells me the pizza - which I did not eat. It really makes me think when I imagine just who can hire such individuals. Don't support a place which just hires people out of the gutter like this, especially when you can pay a Hardworking Teenager to do the work instead. Very nice deli. Stopped in on our way to Pennsylvania. Staff couldn't have been any nicer. Boars head cold cuts too. We ordered one sandwich to share and counter guy went above and beyond by cutting hero in half and asking us what type of dressing we wanted on each half and even wrapped them separately. Place was clean and prices were reasonable. Nice selection of prepared foods as well. Would definitely stop back if in the area. read more

I recently had a sandwich from here and quite frankly, very disappointed. The food left out for public to order from seemed a day or two old, the turkey in my club had a very gamey taste for a cold cut. I dont recommend this deli to anyone. Upon stopping here today, I inquired about their recommendations for temperature/how long to cook their pizza dough. The answer I received was "What do you mean? How do you not know how to cook a pizza? You put it in the oven and take it out when it's done!" With such a nasty tone and disrespectful attitude. We dropped the ingredients and walked out. Reach out to the staff and they reach right back! Very warm, friendly workers here. Took a personal interest in my husband and I, who are here from out of state to see a doctor at one of the hospitals here. Recognize me when I come in, ask how he's doing... and everything they have is great. Gotta try the housemade fig balsalmic vinegar. It's outrageously delicious. Excellent Italian style deli. Fresh everything. Pizza, fresh made mozzarella, sandwiches. If you can expect something in a Italian deli, they probably have it and it's probably made in house. My personal favorite is a chicken parmesan sandwich with a Manhattan Special coffee soda. I have yet to have a bad meal here! Everything is made fresh - including housemade mozzarella and housemade mozzarella sticks :) My biggest qualm with this place is the inconsistency in the hours, though. When there for lunch with wife and kids. Simply delicious. The owner is very accommodating and the food is delicious. I had an eggplant and broccoli rape sandwich and its was great. My sons had a stramboli and a chipotle grilled kitchen wedge. Both were excellent. Wife had a chicken and fresh mozzarella sandwich. All fresh all delicious. Will be back for lunch at this deli. Really clean, nicely setup place and very cozy. Service is great, prices are reasonable. Easiest way to get to them is to park behind the plaza and use the back entrance. The food is okay. Nothing to write home about. A&S is still on the top of my list, but this is nice for the occasional sandwich or hot food for lunch. Wish they could have tables outside to sit.
