Food is awesome and Anthony and his wife are great. My beef is the counter help. I don't mind paying almost 20 dollars for a sandwich however I want what I ask for. The staff speaks broken English and cannot understand certain orders. While I'm allergic to mayo, no matter what, the staff INSISTS of loading my sandwich up with mayo and not MUSTARD like I asked. Also, they tend to make a sandwich of what they think I ordered instead of what I said. The best one is when I asked for roast beef with yellow American cheese, the deli worker asked me THREE TIMES about what kind of cheese. All THREE TIMES I said YELLOW AMERICAN. After asking me again what kind of cheese I wanted, I walked out. The place has every ingredient you will need or want (and some you'll learn you need) to make an authentic Italian meal, right down to squid ink. Service was leisurely (20minutes from arrival to an empty store mid-afternoon), but friendly. Once complaint is that the next guest to order 10minutes after me received their sandwich first which seemed a bit odd. In any event, nice store, but a bit too off the mark for my tastes. When I opened it it was choice steak in bbq sauce according to Anthony with a piece of cheese on top. I've wanted to stop by Dante's for months and finally got the chance today. Glad I finally made it! When you walk in you are hit with an intoxicating smell of cured meat and cheeses. It's simply heaven. After walking over to the order line, It became clear I was in for a long wait. There were like 7 people on line and the 2 workers who deal with customers took forever to get orders ready. Like 15 minutes to get a sandwich and pizza, and 20 minutes to get some cold cuts and cheeses. But it was worth the wait! Actually, the food here is really amazing. I wanted to get a sandwich and also some stuff to take home. I wasn't sure what to get for my sandwich, but I overheard some guy ahead of me ordering a custom panini, and it sounded so good that I got what he got. It came with fried zucchini flowers, fresh mozzarella, and prosciutto. The thing was so good, I seriously ate it in 3 minutes. Actually it was better than good. It was euphoria inducing. Can't wait to try another one of their sandwiches. As for the deli meats, the capicola and soppressata were delectible. I got a half pound of each which set me back like $16 bucks. This was going to be my first time as a customer at this deli. I walked in and saw that everything looked great. I checked the prices of some things that I knew what the prices should be and some prices were very high while others were fair. I waited for a while. There were two other customers in the store at the time and about 5 employees. The staff seemed to think my wife and I were invisible. Another person entered who was ignored. Then finally another person entered who was helped immediately. I queried if I could be helped as I had already been waiting for about 10 minutes and the employee in a blue polo shirt was extraordinarily rude and told me to wait for the next person to help me. I left and decided to call to let the establishment know what had happened. The lady who answered said she was a manager. She seemed like she was about to start to apologize until she asked me if I was still outside in the parking lot. I said no. At that point her tone changed. I said that I just wanted to let them know so they could improve their service. She came back at me to say that they had been in business for 22 plus years so they must be doing things right. A sandwich in Dantes is more than a standard sandwich - Anthony and Giovanna and their staff have created fresh and delicious combinations that are worth waiting in line for. We catered a party last week and everyone, even our most picky friends, we're raving! There's usually a line but the staff keeps things moving and the wait is certainly worth the food they offer.
