In the mornings they have functional coffee drinks and by night they have functional cocktails. There were delicious options to choose from, some with Kava, some with CBD. I ended up going with the drink called the weekend, which was watermelon, coconut, peach, cherry sour and lemon. It was garnished with a sour patch watermelon candy and that's exactly what it tasted like. I just had one drink and closed out and my bill came to $21 and I was like eeeeeek. I love the idea of this place, being sober myself and still someone who loves a bar and the social atmosphere I think this place is amazing and needed in every city but I wouldn't stay here and hang out because of the drink prices. We sat for a while and played Connect4 using the fanciest set I'd ever seen. Some more people came in, so it didn't feel nearly as empty by the time I left. I'd probably come back, but only if I was with someone who doesn't drink and/or really wanted to try this bar. I hope they make it!

For appetizers, we did start with the Brussel sprouts and the French onion soup and both were PHENOMENAL. The French onion didn't have the crunch and a lot of cheese like others, but the flavor was amazing! For drinks, I was having their Old Fashions and they were soooo tasty. Was the perfect drink for the night. Dessert, we had a Mud Pie and Apple Crisp. The only thing we were disappointed with was the apple crisp, because we wanted it to be warmer and a little more crispier, but it truly did taste like Thanksgiving in your mouth! Let's start with the parking situation at this restaurant. It's not great. My brother told me to…read moreget valet so that I wouldn't have to worry about parking. It's difficult to even get into the parking lot, which is in a tight strip that's in between the sidewalk where the restaurant's building was located and Harbor Drive, which has its own navigating issues with the street also being the main drag to have access to the airport. I had to circle around the area using PCH to get back onto Harbor, then approach the restaurant from the north. When I got into the "lot," I had to flag down a couple of valets to ask if they had any open spots. One of them told me to circle back around AGAIN to get an open spot. I decided to heck with that and just pulled into a parking garage on Ash St. just 50 yards away from the restaurant. Once inside, we were able to get into a private dining area for my mom's party. The eating space was nice and spacious, acommodating for our party of at least 20 people. The restaurant is also very nice and clean. The entrees and appetizers did seem like standard wedding fare, though. I ordered the braised shortrib, and while it was good, I couldn't escape the impression that it was something that one would normally eat at a wedding reception. The beef was soft and tender, the mashed potatoes creamy, and the carrots were cooked very well. I enjoyed the strawberry lemonade cocktail and appreciated that they reduced the vodka content so that I wouldn't get so buzzed from one drink. Eventually, I had to order a regular lemonade though, which I did enjoy. It was sweet and not overly sour. Also one point in their favor was the clam chowder starter course. That also had a little sweet flavor to it, which was definitely preferable to having an overly salty taste. The bits of bacon in the chowder helped to cut down the sweetness. The desserts were pretty standard fare. I liked the chocolate brownie more than the raspberry cheesecake. I will also note that the two servers we had for the dinner party were terrific. It couldn't have been easy to handle that kind of workload but they looked like they've been doing this kind of thing before.

TL;DR: An absolutely stunning Hillcrest oasis known for its incredible seasonal decor--the cherry blossom setup features a beautiful courtyard pond and photo-worthy pathways. The kitchen speed is lightning-fast, the drinks are highly creative, and the truffle sweet potato fries are a total game-changer. We were lucky enough to grab a reservation here during their seasonal cherry blossom pop-up, and the space is completely breathtaking. The inside features a chic bar area that looks out over a central courtyard pond, while the outside tables sit directly under a canopy of vibrant pink cherry blossom trees. There is even a cute, winding walkway leading up to more elevated seating, complete with benches where you can stop to take photos and admire how beautifully done the decorations are. It has a high-end, immersive garden vibe that makes it feel like an absolute destination for brunch. The food came out incredibly fast, and the menu features some really creative twists. For an appetizer, we tried the Truffle Sweet Potato Fries--I'd never seen a place combine truffle with sweet potato before, but it was spectacular. When she realized it was my girlfriend's birthday, she brought out a complimentary slice of chocolate cake but thoughtfully offered us the option of doing birthday shots instead since my girlfriend had already ordered a sweet brunch entree. As a small business, I am writing to express my disappointment with the treatment I received at your restaurant during my recent visit. I had called ahead of time to confirm that it was okay to take photos and even let your staff know that I would be tagging and advertising the restaurant as well. My group and I had a table and planned to eat and drink, but as soon as we arrived, the staff gave us dirty looks. I had requested to be seated in the outside area, as it was prettier and we wanted to take photos, and your staff informed us that we were allowed to walk around and take photos as we pleased but had to use our table inside as our home base. However, as we started taking photos, we were constantly given red flags. Firstly, we were informed that we couldn't photograph other people in the restaurant, and I made it clear that I only wanted to photograph my models. Then we were told that we couldn't take photos in certain areas. Despite all these restrictions, we proceeded to the garden area to finish up, where a staff member approached me aggressively and demanded to see permits and if I had spoken with an owner. I was taken aback by the staff member's behavior, especially when he proceeded to get in my face & yell at me in front of other tables, and I felt humiliated and disrespected. I tried to explain to him what I had been told by the staff, but before I could even finish, he kicked me out and banned me from returning. As a paying customer, I found the staff's behavior unacceptable and felt that it ruined my experience at your restaurant. I believe that the staff needs better training on how to handle situations and how to treat customers with respect and kindness. I strongly recommend that you take action and address this issue to ensure that it doesn't happen to anyone else in the future. I recently had the pleasure of dining at insideOUT restaurant in the Hillcrest neighborhood of San Diego and it exceeded my expectations in every way. The holiday oasis pop up was a fun touch and really added to the festive atmosphere. The restaurant was decked out in Christmas decorations and even had periods of time where it snowed. The holiday cocktails were amazing, but the Freaky Tiki on the regular cocktails menu was packed with flavor. We started off with an appetizer, the arancini, which was Italian risotto balls with saffron, lemon zest, and fresh mozzarella cheese served with puttanesca sauce. It was so good that we almost ordered a second round. For the main course, I had the best damn cheeseburger which really lived up to its name. I love burgers and this was one of my faves. It was cooked to perfection and the toppings were fresh and flavorful. I had a side of onion rings and they two were absolutely delicious. In addition to the delicious food, the service at insideOUT was top notch. Our server was attentive and friendly, and made sure that everything was perfect throughout the meal. The service definitely added to the overall positive experience at the restaurant. One thing I would also recommend is checking out the bathrooms at insideOUT - they are very unique and definitely worth a visit. The design and decor are unexpected and add to the overall ambiance of the restaurant. I would definitely recommend insideOUT to anyone visiting the Hillcrest neighborhood. The food, drinks, and service were all excellent and I can't wait to go back and try more items on their menu. Upon receiving my libation--an effervescent elixir I had so longed for--I was greeted not with the sparkle of citrus oils dancing atop the surface, but rather the ghastly visage of a human hair. A hair! One does not expect to encounter such a follicular interloper outside of a Victorian ghost story or an unkempt wig closet. And the bartender, that supposed custodian of hospitality, did not so much as muster a whisper of contrition. No apology, no offer of reprieve--just the smug indifference of someone who clearly believes themselves the misunderstood protagonist of a tragic indie film. Service, my dears, was a masterclass in disdain. We sat, abandoned, marooned in our little corner while the staff sashayed about in an aloof performance piece entitled "Pretending Not to Notice You." When one finally deigned to ask if we might desire another drink, it was less a gracious inquiry and more a begrudging chore, as though our very existence were a tiresome inconvenience. I had an incredible birthday celebration at this restaurant! The ambiance was perfect, the staff was attentive, and the food was absolutely delicious. The bread basket at this restaurant was exceptional - we absolutely loved it and ended up ordering more! The bread was fresh, warm, and incredibly delicious, adding a delightful touch to our dining experience. We couldn't get enough of it! We also ordered some arancini, and grilled salmon( which was delicious but the portion of salmon was really small, I guess we weren't just lucky compared to other reviews). I absolutely loved braised short ribs!! My guests and I were impressed by the quality of service of our server and the attention to detail. The only downside was that despite the closing time being 10 pm, the staff began closing much earlier. We were informed that the kitchen and bar would be closing soon, which was understandable. However, it was a bit disappointing that they started shutting down well before 10 pm; the fountains were turned off, and the music stopped early. We were the only table left but it wasn't 10 pm yet, we ended up leaving a little earlier, which was a bit upsetting. Overall it was a great experience! read more

I was walking by a few months ago, when I see a man walk up to the window while unzipping his pants. I saw some of his anatomy and realized he was standing in front of a urinal with his anatomy in his hands now covered because he was standing right up to it. My first introduction to their open view bathrooms. Do I really need to see this? Not all of us need to see others sharing everything. I was shocked as to why I was seeing this. Yesterday while walking past, a curtain came flying open. A woman yelled something at me and I looked. Standing in front of a toilet with their back to me was a person with their pants half way down, round their rear end. The woman at the window screamed, "she looked" and then laughed, the person then pulled their pants down to under their rear end cheeks. Disgusting! Thank goodness I didn't have a child with me. When did this become legal? Please cover up your windows! After calling the Police, I was told that it was indecent exposure and that although the restaurant is not responsible, one can only surmise that the full length window was put in for such exhibitions. read more

If a could go 10 stars, I would. What an incredible experience! A true feast for the senses, from the beautiful bright red buildings above and around to the water features, unique and cheeky bathroom stalls, to the brilliant and colourfulness of the lighting and fire pits in the evening. Such a wonderful and helpful staff, and following CDC regulations for the safety of their clientele. The food and drinks.. no wrong choices here. Personally I love their Blackberry Mojito, but also enjoy their Bloody Mary's as well as EVERYTHING on their menu. Paris is such a fiercely elegant and delightful hostess, always checking in to make sure your experience is top notch! Thank you Paris, I know that I appreciate you and the delightful atmosphere and sense of family created at insideOUT. Their are outside area benches near fire pits, comfy, cushy loungey seating, bars table, reg tables... it is grrrREAT all around! Came to Inside Out for the vibes and honestly... the ambience alone is worth the visit. The decor is absolutely gorgeous !! every corner feels curated and aesthetic without trying too hard. It's one of those spots that instantly puts you in a good mood, and the staff made the experience even better. Everyone was warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly. Lots of areas for you to take your insta pics and hinge photos. Now for the food... I wanted to love it more than I did. The chilaquiles unfortunately fell a little flat for me flavor-wise and felt pretty underwhelming. The chicken and waffles were just okay...the syrup ratio was a bit much, and the chicken itself was more chewy and tough rather than juicy and tender. BUT the mocktails? Easily the star of the meal. So refreshing, flavorful, and beautifully made. I would absolutely come back just to sip on those again because they were that good. The food, service, and ambiance all hit the mark. We ordered the Filet, The Cali, and the Loco Moco. The Loco Moco was the favorite of the table. It had beef, egg, rice, and gravy with a Korean twist that gave it just the right amount of bold flavor. The Cali scramble came with perfectly crispy red potatoes and was a solid, satisfying choice. The Filet was a showstopper, served hot on a cooking stone. Every dish looked and tasted amazing. The service was friendly and efficient, and the vibe of the place is just cool, modern, open, and full of natural light.
