I cannot say enough about how AMAZING working with Lara has been. I trusted her to manage my condo over 15 years ago, she has seen it thru multiple renters, a kitchen remodel, emergency repairs, changes in the HOA, and managed an assortment of improvement projects. She is great at communicating, meeting the needs of tenants, and proactively resolves any issues. Over those 15 years, I have also owned and rented homes in LA and in the desert, and worked with different property managers in those areas. Lara set a high bar, and I have not found another company that is comparable. I have a few horror stories from renting those other properties, which only makes me more grateful for the outstanding experience I've had over the years with Lara. She deserves 10 stars and I would recommend her to anyone needing a property manager in San Diego. I am moving back this year and am so grateful for how she cared for my condo while I was away. Lara is a Property Manager who came in today extremely unprofessionally by not only making false claims about me (apparently she has witnessed me signing property management paperwork that A. she couldn't even describe, B. I have no idea what she's referring to, and C. I've never even met her until she walked into our office today) and being rude to other staff in the office, after she was advised that the key is after has not been delivered to our office yet. The keys she wants are Medeco keys and any property manager would know that those are specially coded and must be ordered directly from the locksmith with the code. She has been advised numerous times by our phone staff of this, yet still chose to come in and try to INTIMIDATE our staff with aggression and lies. We do not tolerate that kind of behavior toward any staff in our office, she is not welcome back into our office and will be escorted out if she returns. read more

I'll tell you what... I've lived in about 8 different rental properties since I moved to San Diego, and almost every time, I've been stuck with a curmudgeon of a landlord. Old, insensitive and out of touch. There have been a couple of winners along the way... but none like the staff at Heritage Properties. Lara was my landlord that the old digs, and I can't say enough good things about her. She's young, hip and totally down to earth... but she'll also rip ya a new bunghole if you fuck up, or you don't pay rent on time. She's kind of like Dr. Seaver on Growing Pains (but a woman). Wise and understanding by nature, but ready to lay the smack down if you get out of line. She actually told me in conversation, "I became a landlord because I hated MY landlords." So, she's almost the anti-landlord, if that makes sense. They have tons of different properties located in-and-around North Park, and each of the units are in pretty dope areas of 'hood. AAAANNND, for the first time in my life, I actually got a deposit back! That alone is cause for celebration. I don't know whether to cash it in, or frame it as a historical heirloom. The usual song and dance consists of me *hoping* I'm gonna get something back, but eventually learning that I have to pay THEM for some bogus cleaning fees. Weak sauce. Thanks Heritage! read more

I got my whole security deposit back!!! Usually there are some dumb fees or a mandatory cleaning charge, but the manager did a walk-through with me before I moved, and I knew exactly what I needed to do. Two weeks after I left I had a check for the whole deposit in my hand! Lara was always nice, she fixed things when they broke, and was always good to talk to. I realized that maybe they were closed and maybe i should try a later time. When i did she answered soundy pissy saying that i need to email which i did and that i might be a scammer...reading these past posts there are several ppl who also feel as she is rude and she herself is a scammer. Definitely dont call her or she'll throw a fit...unprofessional..maybe you should not leave your number on the list if you get irritated to do your job. I was apprehensive about hiring a property manager for my house, but I didn't want to sell it while going back east to help out family for an unknown amount of time. However, it's very clear that Lara knows what she's doing. She did a fantastic job getting the house ready to rent, and she found us perfect tenants in a couple of weeks. Lara made my renting experience smooth, efficient, and accomodating! She was very fast at facilitating the application process upon my meeting with her and submitting my interest for a rental. I had to delay the lease signing by a couple of days due to a very busy schedule, but she patiently coordinated with me to find a time that would work with my schedule - while not as convenient to hers. During my residence at the apartment, she was very prompt in getting back to me whenever I had any questions. Due to unfortunate personal circumstances towards the end of my lease, I had to move out of the area, and could not finish out the remainder of my lease. She worked with me for us to find a new tenant for the space, and worked to mitigate some of the financial damages that would typically be incurred in having to break a lease. If I happen to move down into the area again, I won't hesitate to contact her after the quality experience I had and professionalism that she displayed during my tenancy. read more

I am a Type A, micro-managing, neurotic, control freak. There is no one out there who could take care of my place like I could. At least, that is what I thought. Until I met Lara. Due to a cross-country move (and to avoid losing a fortune by selling) I decided to lease my condo. As you can imagine, managing a property from the other side of the country was going to be difficult for me given my personality, a new job, and a baby on the way. I needed help. So based on the Yelp reviews I contacted Lara. Right from the start I knew I was in good hands. She is friendly, prompt, courteous, and organized. At our first visit she already had our neighborhood assessed and the comps determined. I was not prepared for this kind of attention to detail. When it came time to list the property, Lara suggested a price I never thought we would get. She had a better sense of the value of my place than I did! Our original list price was accepted in less than 2 months which more than covered her fee as I was going to list it for hundreds less. After a renter is found, Lara does not disappear. She handles the credit checks, the paperwork, the cleaning,and all the communication between the renters. Money just shows up in my account and I never hear a peep. When Eric and I decided to move (again), we knew that we wanted to ideally move to North Park. What we found was an adorable little home 1 block from my favorite bar (don't judge me just because I want to be within stumbling distance!). An adorable light-blue painted home, with gorgeous hardwood floors - just the perfect size for me and my man. Lara was personable and informative from the get-go. What other people have said about her being the "anti-landlord" and being very helpful is totally true. I am a worry-wart by nature, and occassionally very clueless. Lara was always more than happy to answer the 4 million questions I had. She's very involved with those of us who live in the complex - we have little community meetings every so often, she sends us emails and flyers about various projects/upgrades/maintenance issues that are going on...I've never had a landlord that actually cares so much and is very involved. It makes me feel more comfortable, that's for sure. Now, being that I live in an older building, of course, things go wrong from time to time. But between Lara and Dominique the maintenance guy, the few problems that we've had (shower, door hinge) have been addressed and taken care of in a timely manner. Rented from Lara - Heritage Propery for about 5 yrs. If ever we needed something to be fixed in our unit, major or not- we would just email Lara and sure enough she would reply back within minutes. That's not common in property managers. She would also get us in contact with Dom - Dominique St. Pierre, the maintenance guy. He would always get cc'd in emails. Dom and his brother (don't remember his name) would always keep us informed via email if they were running behind or if something else came up. Things got fixed in 24 hours or less. Huge plus!! On one occasion, Lara was very understanding and helped us out with making the move to the downstairs unit in the complex due to a unforeseen health situation. All the paperwork, details, making sure that the unit meet our special needs, was a smooth transaction. Gotta say that we were happy tenants. I rented from Heritage Property with Lara as the property manager for close to 7 years. Everything from start to finish was easy: the move in/out process, roommate transitions, repairs, etc. She's also always been extremely honest and fair. When I let her know that I was interested in moving from the one bedroom into a two bedroom, she gave me first dibs when one opened up. I agree with Ruggy about the returned deposit. Lara did a pre-turn-in inspection with me and let me know what she was looking for when I turned in my keys. We'd gotten bleach on the carpet and Lara let me know up front that we'd be responsible for it. I knew that, but it was great to have been told beforehand. I thought for sure I could kiss the deposit goodbye, so I was really surprised when I got some of it back! She only took what she needed and never nickel and dimed me. I recently left the two bedroom and got all of my deposit back. Also, I think throughout the 7 years I only had about 3 rent increases. Each time I was provided at least 3 months notice and the increases were only in increments of $50. I especially appreciated that there is a rent drop off at the postal store on the corner of ECB and Louisiana. Saved me from being late on rent many many times and saved me 7 years worth of stamps. In fact, I think I only ever mailed in a rent check once because I was out of town training. Phone calls were always returned in a timely manner. I was also very happy when the email address was created. I travel so much that it was very very convenient to be able to email and get a quick response. On a personal note, I think Lara is great. She's experienced, upfront and professional while also being young, cool, and leads an active lifestyle. (Motorcycle chicks unite!) I've recommended several friends to contact her when they were looking for new places and will continue to do so in the future. Lara is also very supportive of the military and has been extremely flexible with me through my deployments and multiple out of town trainings. I've moved a lot, in many cities, in many states, but working with Lara was easily the most seamless and stress-free move I've ever had. From the time I found the listing for the apartment, to signing the lease, it took maybe 48 hours. Lara is professional but very approachable and was quick to answer all of my questions beforehand and quick to resolve any concerns I had once I was moved in. She worked with my timeline to offer a fair move-in date, but then actually allowed me access to start my move, without having to change the lease. When I found some minor maintenance issues around the place, she had them addressed in a timely manner. Since I've moved in, her level of care has not changed. She is quick to respond to any questions or concerns, and schedules any maintenance work accordingly. Overall I have had no issues of any kind with her and now I can just enjoy relaxing in my new apartment without feeling micromanaged like some landlords have made me feel. read more
