I'm a student at UConn, and was disappointed to find that I wasn't "in range" when I live 3 miles away and it's a 10 mile radius. When I expressed my disappointed to the store staff, they assured me that since I lived close by, I could use a local address and add my address to the comments and they would deliver to me. They don't have their own parking, and with my own health issues along with both the distance of the parking lot and how dangerous campus conditions are, I can't usually get there on my own. I attempted to order a couple weeks ago and was incredibly happy when they delivered to me, that I decided to order some tonight. I then received an e-mail saying that there was an issue with my order. I was told to call the customer service. The thing with this company is no store has their individual phone number so that you can actually talk to a person. Instead you go through this call center that refuses to give you any way to contact the actual store. They told me that the store was refusing to deliver to me because I wasn't "in range," despite the fact that they had delivered before. At this point I was frustrated because I already paid for the order, and I couldn't go to pick it up. I expressed these concerns to this dispatch call unit, getting irritated when the woman kept saying "I understand, but..." This woman gave me attitude that I don't expect from a customer service hotline. Even when I told her this was ridiculous since they had delivered here before and that this wasn't fair, she responded with "would you like me to send a coupon code for your inconvenience" in a callous voice that really held no remorse whatsoever, like it would fix things. I demanded my order be cancelled and to be able to talk to a supervisor to discuss this whole issue and also see about looking at just how far my apartment is from the store, because their online map shows some weird zigzag pattern that completely ignores many local areas less than 10 miles away. I was given to a supervisor and she told me the exact same thing as if they were reciting it from a script. She did say that I could e-mail my address and have the company investigate the distance from my apartment from the store. When I asked her how long it would take, she said yet another recited time "well, we really can't say..." I asked if my order was cancelled and she assured me it was and I said goodbye. Then I decided to check my account to see if the money had been returned to me. It hadn't. I instantly called back and the same woman from earlier answered and when I told her I had called to cancel an order and found the money wasn't returned, she asked when I cancelled the order despite me saying I just called, and acted like she didn't remember. When I told her today, she said it would take 3 to 5 business days. I told her that was unacceptable and that I needed the money back immediately, especially since I'm not getting anything, and when I asked to speak to a supervisor, she said the supervisor would say the exact same thing. I have never experienced such horrible, nonchalant customer service, and am disappointed that such a company full of liars and crooks holding onto money for days exists. read more

I ordered some cookies around 12:30 pm today online. About 1.5 hours later I checked my order online and it showed that it was delivered but I had not received it yet. I called the customer service line (which does not connect you directly to the store) and they told me that the driver had to go back to the store, but my order would be delivered shortly. About an hour later, I still had not received my order so I called customer service back. They said they called and left a voicemail (which I did not receive). Since it was about 3 hours later since I initially placed the order I decided to cancel it. This may have been a mix-up and not how they normally do business,but I will not be attempting to use this company again. They should look into having a direct line to the store. read more

I would regularly order insomnia cookies for any of my meetings, get togethers, and even the occasional lonely midnight snack. After today, I don't believe they will have my business at all anymore. I'm working on my doctorate at the moment so it wouldn't be honest if I said I haven't grown to love the warm smell of melty chocolate chips when I'm all by my lonesome. But today, as I was walking in to teach my lecture, I noticed one of your male delivery drivers on his phone texting while passing Gampbell Pavillon. It was moderately crowded at the time and filled with pedestrians. He was so preoccupied in his phone, in fact, he completely sped through a stop sign at a bothersome speed and made no notice, or any reaction really, as he was preoccupied. I would never support any business that hires under qualified employees, more specifically, drivers that are incapable of making a delivery without simultaneously holding a text conversation in a vehicle that is in motion. I'll just have to get my husband's children's melted treats elsewhere. I know you've lost at least one customer over this and I'll be sure to spread the word to my department. BAD NEWS read more

I usually love and stand by Insomnia Cookies. Living around UConn, I've been able to enjoy them simply by showing up at parties and mooching off friends since the location went in a few years ago. Tonight I was in the area getting dinner with my parents, and convinced them to stop in at Insomnia so that they too could experience the deliciousness. Unfortunately, the girl behind the counter treated my parents incredibly rudely, and as far as I could tell, for no real reason. She was very short with my mother who was attempting to sort out the various purchase options, and seemed to get frustrated with her when she tried ordering flavors that they didn't have enough of in stock. Frankly, the store not having enough stock to fill a requested quantity isn't really the customer's problem, and it especially is not a basis to treat a customer poorly over. Worse, my mother decided to fill in the order with one of their "traditional" flavors, which was in place of one of their premium flavors, and the cashier didn't change the bill to reflect the price difference between the two options (the premium cookies we were charged for are nearly double the price!). She definitely knew better, as she was quick to point out the price difference between the options when we walked in. I'd have been able to point out the discrepancy if the cashier didn't hastily grab the receipt from the machine as soon as it printed and throw it in the garbage and run to the back of the store. Naturally, this all happened right after carelessly chucking our box of cookies on the counter. I never expect this type of treatment and service anywhere, nevermind when buying what is essentially a premium product at up to $3 per cookie! We couldn't help but laugh on the way out at just how absurd it all was. On the upside the cookies are delicious, but I'll probably just go back to giving the Dairy Bar all of my business and endorsements. Dealing with overcharges and rude service just isn't worth it. read more

I absolutely LOVE this place. Warm gooey cookies that are always fresh! Even when they're out of something they'll offer to bake whatever you like which is, AMAZING! The snickerdoodles are my favorite! I can never leave this place without a 24 pack. read more

I'd like to start my review by stating that there was a large dead bug in the vanilla ice cream tub, and someone had to point out of them that the bug was in there. After removing the dead bug with her BARE fingers, the ice cream was not thrown out, and they then promptly served that ice cream to another customer, who happened to be someone I went there with. THEN, I ordered moose tracks ice cream on my cookies, and they gave me cookies and cream. When I went back to inform them of the wrong order they told me that I was wrong. They acknowledged that I ordered moose tracks and looked at the cookies and cream that was slapped on my cookies and blatantly told me that it was moose tracks. I had compared my friends order of cookies and cream to my supposed moose tracks, and they looked identical, confirming it was in fact cookies and cream. Now, I'm no ice cream expert but cookies and cream and moose tracks do look quite differently. I told the worker, "I saw you scoop out of the tub of ice cream that is labeled cookies and cream." She respond with "Well not every scoop is going to look the same". CLEARLY it's not going to look the same when they're two different ice creams. I'm appalled and livid. I drove 45 minutes for this disappointment of a cookiewich and I will not be returning. read more
