Cookies are one of those treats that I can never turn down. So a whole store dedicated to these delicious treats I just had to try. Getting to the store was the difficult part, as parking was a bit of a nightmare (for us non-city folk anyhow). I was immediately impressed with the vast selection of cookies as well as ice cream that you could make a sandwich with. We opted for a few warm cookies instead of the sandwich option. I enjoyed sharing a chocolate chunk, double chocolate chunk, and deluxe chocolate peanut butter cup. The latter of the two were indeed warm as they just came out of the oven and quite good! So are these as good as grandma used to make? Probably not; but they are fresh, warm, and full of ooey gooey goodness. Delicious and warm cookies! The ice cream isn't too bad either. Their open until 1 or 2 am which is a HUGE PLUS. But when I got here at 12:50 there was literally a HUGE LINE & there were 10 people ahead of us. I love cookies. I want to love insomnia but here's my experience: It's school vacation week- Kow Kow was closed. I drove from Cumberland to get my daughter a nice snack. I immediately thought of insomnia. It's been on my list to try. pulled up and it was open- but should it be open?! We entered in. No line. A few weeks ago I ordered 13 cookies for delivery. They arrived 20 minutes late (around 10:40 PM) and 6 cookies short! My envisionment was this rinky-dink little cookie shop were you had to knock three times and say a password to get in. You know the weird kind behind the door of a laundromat? It was just kind of thinking it was that place everybody went after a good high. The half in the bag college students and the roach clip bangers. Mind you I am a 35 year old mom, who didn't go to college, haven't smoked anything since 2006. But something about insomnia cookies made me want to go. So, on the one night that my husband and I got a break from our child, this is where we decided to go. It was so left field from what I envisioned it. The only thing that was the same was that it was completely full of half-in-the-bag College kids. The place was small but very well organized and Incredibly clean. Not at all the tiny hole in the wall I had hoped it would be. There's like a whole app and everything... absolutely nothing to hide. No special menu, no knock three times on the window or secret passwords. Just an industrial style Cookie Shop. Without a doubt we were completely out of place. Now to stick with the theme of being an old lady I'm going to tell you that there was absolutely no regard for allergens whatsoever. The manager herself told me but there was nothing in the shop that they could sell me that wasn't laced with nuts. All the utensils the cooking pans the gloves the counters the ovens everything was multi used with nuts. I would also assume that true for eggs... regardless of the fact they have vegan cookies. If you're vegan and want cookies, I think it's safe to assume that they were cooked with utensils, on baking sheets and on counters where eggs were used... based in the managers comments. The cookies ran us a half box for give or take $12. For industrialized cookies they were pretty bomb. On the Cookie scale they weren't half-baked but entirely delicious. They were "out" of quite a few flavors. So we landed with the basics. Chocolate Chip, double Chocolate, mint chocolate, sugar, and a mix of what ever was left. So with that said, married couple with a kid wanting cookies at midnight - you can find your fix at Insomnia Cookies... but don't expect anything special. I've been wanting to try Insomnia for a super long time and finally had my chance last week after getting some dinner on Thayer St. The concept is brilliant, warm and delicious cookies super fast. They are open late... Hence the name and they even deliver!! The appeal of Insomnia Cookies is the convenience, the gooey warm cookies, and the ice cream sandwiches. I'd love to see them add dairy free ice cream! The only one I really love is the chocolate chunk which is great because now there's a vegan option! Beyond the impossibility of passing on a warm, soft cookie, the whole vibe of Insomnia Cookie is very fun, and reminds me of college (aided by the fact that both locations are near Universities). The cookies are in a state of perpetual warmth, meaning they always have an aura of freshness to them. The Double Chocolate Chunk is my go-to; they're like Subway cookies, but so much better. Respectable in size and generous with the fillings, I've yet to find an Insomnia Cookie that I didn't like. The novelty, however, is getting a hot and fresh cookie late at night, who can resist the allure of the sweet smell of freshly baked cookies? Not me! If you planned better, you could buy a tube of refrigerated cookie dough from the supermarket for the cost of one deluxe cookie and slice them onto a cookie sheet, bake them, and be done start to finish in about 15 min. But you didn't think ahead which is why you ended up here. We had an extra $8.00 burning a hole in our pocket so we got an ice cream sandwich, which was tasty. The staff couldn't cut it in half for us though because "they have no cutting utensils anywhere in the building" which makes me wonder why they can't be trusted with sharp objects. Two suggestions: The seating is minimal, just a few high stools along the window, which is a total miss because this would be a fun place to have a birthday party. And they should create an "extreme cookie challenge" food item like a giant cookie sundae - something like 3 dozen cookies and a dozen scoops of ice cream plus some toppings (you get the idea) that you and your drunk friends can devour after a night out. read more

What they show for advertising is not what you get. I ordered the box of cookies with the dip because it looked amazing. It didn't come like that at all. I got 4 cookies all smashed in a bag and a cup of frosting. They charge $1 for sprinkles, don't get those either. I also ordered the 12 mini cookie box and I didn't receive those.
