Ok... So I work in the food service industry and I can be pretty understand of tech difficulty and problems with delivery. It's just cookies after all. But I waited houra for this damn order. I ordered like 2 dozen cookies at 8:30 on a Sunday with a quick confirmation and an expectation of 30-45 minute time frame. Cool. A bit longer I'd understand cause it's a weekend. At 10:20 still nothing, so I called. Sat on hold for 10 minutes before a girl comes on to say the store is closed and shed give me a refund. Weird cause they close at 12. But whatever. Puts me back on hold and I get a text to say the cookies have left the store. She comes back on to say they'll be delivered in 30-45 minutes. Ok... This was at 10:30. 11:30 I get a text from postmates to say my order has been received and that the delivery will be around 11:50. It's now 12 and I just got my order. I just wanna know how this happened and who done fucked up? Cause the receipt has the original order time... Did this sit there for 4 hours?!? Was sitting at home last night when my wife goes "man i could go for a big ol' cookie right now". So of course I think of Insomnia, that's their whole thing, delivering warm cookies late at night. So I go online to put in an order. We get excited picking out which ones we want - she loves M&M cookies. I pay and get confirmation that my cookies will arrive in 20-30 minutes. 30 minute later they send me an email saying they've refunded my credit card. Um, hello? I try to contact them, but turns out they closed as soon as they sent me a refund. (which is 3 hours earlier than what's listed on their website) So they accepted my order, told me it was coming, then waited half an hour and cancelled it and closed for the night. This place is jammed every time time I've gone. I also think to myself "it will slow down when the novelty wears off". I think the opposite is actually happening, though. I have to admit they were strategic to open in the winter. Look carefully and you can see the new venue right across the way from the post office let off some steam. When you walk in, a blast of cookie dough smell hits your nostrils and you are overwhelmed by all the goodies inside. You suddenly forget why you were on your Atkins diet in the first place as you look at the various cookies you can choose from. Not only do they have fun flavors like smores and classics like chocolate chunk but they can also make you ice cream sandwiches. Now that is something I'd be willing to gain 5 lbs for. And do you know what the best of it all is? They are open early and late AND they deliver within a 2 mile radius including to the hospital. So I've heard a lot about this place from being begged to go, so I finally decided I really wanted to bring her. Because hey, its all about making her happy. And so today we went. It's a small place located on busy, trendy Thayer street. Apparently it's open till 2 am so anyone leaving the local bars can get a cookie while walking back to their dorm. After coming here now I know why, because for anyone to pay over $13 for 7 cookies has to be completely drunk to not feel like they were violated. Co-workers gave me a gift card to Insomnia Cookies because they know how obsessed I am with cookies. My husband and I visited today for the first time. It is located right near Brown's campus which is great for the students as they offer delivery up until 2AM! Because of this location parking is on the street and pretty scarce but we were able to find a spot a few streets away. Upon walking into the store you are hit with an amazing smell of baking cookies and sweets to instantly get you drooling. It is a cute but very small store with room for approximately four seats near the windows. It did get packed pretty quickly. We looked over the menu and they offer nine types of "traditional cookies" and three types of "deluxe cookies" of which you could make cookiewiches if you'd like. In addition, they offer a chocolate chip brownie. A decent variety but nothing to unique. We ordered a cookiewich using double chocolate chip cookies and s'mores ice cream, a chocolate chip brownie and a double chocolate chip cookie. The chocolate chip brownie you have to wait a few minutes while they "make them fresh" in the back, a/k/a heat it up. I'm not hating on it though, I like warm brownies! The brownie was really yummy and chocolatey. My husband said that the cookiewich was good but it's nothing that will blow your socks off. In summary, we would revisit Insomnia Cookies again if we were in the area, which would be very rare for us, but we wouldn't necessarily seek them out. PROS: Cookies and sweets were warm and yummy, prices aren't all that steep, decent variety of cookies, delivery (if you are in the area) CONS: Parking is a hassle, small store that gets packed quickly, the variety of cookies are not very original and memorable. read more

This rating is based on their customer service. I walked in at 1:58 A.M. and the first thing anyone said to me (there were 4 employees standing around talking to each other) was "we close at 2." I said okay and asked if I could have a pint of ice cream, thinking that they were warning me that they closed in 2 minutes so I had to hurry up. No, actually, what they were saying was they were not serving me and I had to leave. It only takes a minute to scoop a pint of ice cream and none of them were doing anything. I have been there many times and none of their employees ever seems busy, they have very easy jobs. I have worked 10+ years in the food service industry and I know they could have easily met my needs and still been closed by 2.
