During our search, we were looking for documentary-style photographers. Our venue was also somewhat dim, so it was especially important to us to find someone who works well with indoor lighting. We loved Eric's portfolio and the way he mixes in heartfelt, glamorous, and whimsical moments. We asked him a bunch of questions during the intro call, mainly technical topics about photography, and we were impressed with his experience and thought process regarding different lighting environments. On the day of the event, before the couple's portraits, Eric spent a few hours scoping out the area for prime photography spots. It was a huge help, because he took into account factors like the angle of the sun and the crowdedness of the area to make sure my husband and I had a great experience. We did a few posed shots, and as someone who's never posed for photography before, I loved how relaxed Eric made us feel, and we had a lot of laughs where we almost forgot there was a camera around. Our full gallery arrived super speedily, and we couldn't have asked for more. Every shot either tugged at our heartstrings or made us laugh. Let me say that Eric has the eye of a photographer. He is able to adapt quickly to the lighting and shadows of the environment. We truly enjoyed working with Thien and Eric for our engagement shoot, and later with Thien, Dave, Duy, and Steve for our wedding day! They were all so chill and funny, we just felt comfortable and able to relax. We already knew we picked a great team during our engagement shoot, where they went all out! They were carrying lights on a narrow canyon hike, figured out great shots up and down the trail with constantly changing light conditions and tree cover, and setting up everything for a nighttime pool shoot as well. All of our family joined in the fun, and we've all now got gorgeous photos for display, greeting cards, professional profiles, and of course our wedding website and stationery. For our wedding day itself, everyone showed up on time and kept us hydrated and on schedule. This is a very delayed review. I don't even know where to start. Inspired By Studio did everything and even more to make our wedding extra memorable. They went beyond our expectations. When my husband and I were looking for wedding photography, we saw Inspired By Studio's work. Their photos were truly breathtaking. I have worked with Eric for 2 events so far & hopefully more to come! He photographed my son's Annaprashan (feeding ceremony) back in 2019 at Ruby Hill when my son was 6 months old. We had many relatives from out of town so it was great to get tons of family photos and candids to remember the event. This past weekend we worked with him again for family fall photos. My son is now 4 years old & is a crazy bundle of energy but Eric worked his magic with him. He also got to meet & photograph my daughter who is 6 months old. A very late review, but we had Thien take photos for myself and my husband for our wedding. They were absolutely beautiful shots. We went to a beach in October- it was freezing, it was windy, and it was remarkably sunny. Regardless of the challenges, Thien managed to find a way to make it work. A couple things about what I value in a photographer: 1) ability to make photos look natural and life-like 2) ability to work with the surroundings, rather than constantly feeling posed 3) ability to communicate their ideas and vision, and tie it into what we want 4) ability to deliver on his promises Thien passed all of these expectations with flying colors. What I really appreciated is how he went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. We took these photos a week before our actual wedding, so the timeline was tight and often had to change. He was flexible and understanding. We had to shoot at 3pm (with that cursed bright sun!) and he still made it work. He also has a knack for making us feel comfortable and welcome, resulting in genuine expressions of joy and happiness for us, which photographed very well. He also was very attentive to detail and patient with us as I trekked around the hills above the beach in heels! We initially didn't want cinematographers but my mom really wanted one so we started our search by asking our photographer (Juniper Spring Photographer) for recommendations. Inspired By Studio was on the list and we met with Thien and Dave at Lazy Dog for dinner. We instantly felt comfortable with them and we quickly booked them for our wedding. On the of our wedding, they worked incredibly well with our photographers and they made everyone feel at ease. Thien and Dave were fun, friendly, and awesome. They sent us a teaser about three weeks after the wedding and we can't wait to see more. We highly recommend them. read more

My husband and I found Eric in 2017 while Google searching wedding photographers in the Bay Area. Based on his portfolio, we knew we wanted to have him take our wedding pictures, but we needed to make sure our personalities clicked. I sent an email to Eric and he responded right away. We met up in person at a local Starbucks, and felt incredibly comfortable with him. You just know right away when you can get along with someone. Eric was (and still is) genuine, and showed us excitement in photographing a Chinese and Indian wedding. Our wedding wouldn't be until more than a year later, but we needed to make sure we booked him right away and we did! This was the best decision we made for our wedding, hands down, but I'll get to the wedding later. Eric took pictures at our engagement party and then again for our engagement photo shoot. I highly recommend doing this before the wedding because you get a chance to know the photographer. It was so important to us that our photographer made us feel safe, comfortable, and natural (with some suggestions for attractive poses of course). Eric went above and beyond. He was so patient with us, even when he could tell I was getting tired. Rain or shine, Eric got down into the dirt, crawled into tight spaces, and did everything that was necessary to get the best angles. It literally sprinkled on us in the middle of August when we were having our engagement shoot, and Eric turned those gray clouds into something so beautiful! Wedding planning is stressful enough, but after the engagement shoot, I knew that the photographer would not be something I would have to worry about. Based on our constant communication the months leading up to the wedding, I can tell you that he is reliable, which is so important to help ease any wedding jitters you may be experiencing. We wanted to get photographed before the wedding at the Japanese Friendship Garden in San Jose, so a few days before the wedding, Eric went there to scope out the place and text me pictures, letting me know that the lake was dried out for renovations, but reassured me that we could get some cool shots nonetheless. And boy, was he right! On our wedding day, Eric brought Thien as the second shooter. Eric is amazing already by himself. And then we met Thien. And it's a match made in heaven. Eric and Thien are the dream team. We spent the majority of the wedding with them, and they kept us laughing and smiling throughout, even though we got married on the hottest day of the summer. They are so easy to talk to and really made the wedding day incredibly fun and memorable. They went above and beyond when I said that iced cold nuoc mia (sugar cane juice) sounded so good on such a hot day. When we got to Dynasty for the reception, Thien surprised us with nuoc mia! I'm pretty sure I cried a little. Eric saw this as a photo opportunity and managed to capture a photo (several photos) of me spitting nuoc mia all over my new husband. These are such good memories, that I still think of them fondly and will always remember that Eric and Thien made the wedding even better. They work well with us and most importantly, with our families. They are kind, patient, and very accommodating of our family's requests. If I could give them a hundred stars, I would give them a thousand stars and I'm a math teacher. Go figure. I love them both and always recommend them to our friends and families whenever we learn that someone's getting married. Also, Eric's dog is the sweetest little thing. Hi Logan! read more

Love love love Inspired By Studio!!! They did our wedding videography and we've watched it at least 100 times now lol. They captured all the important details, the emotion, the fun, nothing was missed - watching the video easily recaptures all the feelings of the day, even though it's been 2 years since our special day. Their professionalism started from the moment I contacted them to shoot for my wedding and civil ceremony. They responded quickly and listened well to what my wife and I wanted on our special day. Even better, they were able to help flesh out the details that we didn't even think about and didn't know about and thats exactly what I wanted from our photographing team. Simply the best. Have worked with both Eric and Thien and can't say enough great things about them. Don't bother looking elsewhere because you'll just end up calling them anyway! We really felt at ease with them both on and off camera. You need to make sure that your photographers make you feel comfortable and work with your needs, and immediately my husband and I felt like old friends when we met them. From start to finish, they are warm, friendly, and focused on making sure you have the best experience. They did the photography for both our small civil ceremony and our larger wedding, and each time they were great about asking us what we wanted, what we didn't want, if there were any special instructions, etc. When we had questions, they were quick and clear with responses. On the big day, they showed up focused and on time, but also clowned around with us so we didn't feel so awkward in front of the camera. Last but not least - the photos were stunning. Though it may sound cliche, our wedding day was in fact one the best days of our lives. And one of the best decisions we made was hiring Eric & Thien to shoot this important day. With months of planning culminating into one day, seeing all our friends and family who've traveled near and far, nerves were running wild! But Eric & Thien were able to provide us with gentle direction and silly humor to lighten the mood and atmosphere. It didn't even feel like we were posing, it just felt like we were hanging out with friends, dressed in our best attire. Now that we've passed our 1 year anniversary, revisiting these photos still brings me back to that special day, conjuring up all the same emotions.
