Been using it at my apartment for a few years, generally just bad. When it works it works fine, even for online gaming as long as you aren't using a monster PC rig. But when it isn't working, it just doesn't work full stop. Not buffering, not slow loading, just straight up no internet and no WiFi. It'll say you're connected, but won't give you any actual internet. Customer service isn't bad, and the people on the line are very helpful, but they're closed on weekends and trying to contact them in the first place is a pain. And recently, an entirely new problem has popped up: They've restricted and outright blocked access to certain websites, seemingly based on how often they are used. This makes getting work done remotely or at home a massive headache, and is just plain stupid and rude. read more

I've been having issues with my service since September 2023. It'll come in waves, sometimes it'll work, but about 70% of the time it's too slow to even use my phone to google something let alone stream or use the internet for anything. I've tried emailing and at first the customer service responded saying they would look into it to it, but I haven't had a response since December. I am stuck with this ISP because the complex I'm renting from offers no other service. I am resetting my Alexa just about every other day because she keeps losing wifi connections. I also work remotely and keep losing internet. I can't keep doing this. I pay $60 a month for internet service that is spotty at best, having to reset all of my devices because they have some weird requirement that you have to register all your mac codes with them, and they have to be refreshed by logging into their website once a week. I have emailed and called them - I get sent to voicemail and no reply to my emails. Meanwhile my living is at stake because I can't log in to my work computer again. So I end up using my wifi hotspot/data on my phone and pay extra for that. They are awful and the minute Xfinity offers service here, I'm out. At least answer your phone and/or your emails. Pretty much they work great when it works (besides for online gaming, no way it works) and download speeds are okay. Streaming usually has no issues. The kicker: it will randomly decide to not work. It isn't that it is spotty or that a streaming video buffers or has bad quality, even though that happens from time to time. I mean that it will just disappear from my wireless networks for days at a time. Or (the annoying part) is that it'll connect, but when I go to sign in it will tell me that something went wrong and I should try again. But it doesn't get resolved until you call the help line. It would be a one star if the customer service was bad, but it isn't as bad as most. I don't think the people picking up the phones are dealing with the internet and they are friendly. Only problem for that is that they are only open Monday thru Friday. So if your internet doesn't work at 11pm on Friday, you don't get it fixed until Monday morning. Which is frustrating. Instaconnect is complete garbage. I live at an apartment complex that uses it as an excuse for free Wi-Fi but it randomly cuts out-especially on weekends when the office is closed. Streaming is usually ok, sometimes the buffering makes watching TV impossible, and when playing video games it will randomly cut out causing me to loose the match. I don't even bother trying to connect my phone to the Wi-Fi because it's so slow and won't load shit. Every time I turn on my laptop I know I'm in for a 10-30 minute battle with the Wi-Fi to try to get online. If your apartment uses instaconnect as complementary internet expect to have to pay for an actual provider. I really wanted to give Instaconnect a chance. It worked fine for several months to the point that my roommate and I even decided to cancel Comcast. However, it seems that Istaconnect made dramatic changes to the way their network handles users trying to connect. These past few weeks have been some of the most frustrating with the inconsistency of the Instaconnect network. It has been detrimental to my productivity and enjoyment at home. The most frustrating thing is that the network is not down, but that I am not receiving internet due to their own system issues. The worst internet service I've ever had. Academy Lane apartments offered it for free, however it only worked about half of the time, and never between the hours of 4am and 8am. Many residents had to get their own internet through Comcast xfinity. I had to end up using my cellular data most of the time. It is the worst internet provider. I'm living in one of the apartments with "free" instaconnect wifi, and "free" can be frustrating. The wifi stops working randomly, and it's common the internet is down in the daytime. Every morning I'll pray that the wifi is working when I turn on my laptop. If you have a webinar, it highly depends on luck if you can make it on time, because wifi might stop working 5 minutes before the meeting, and you have to rush out to the noisy Starbucks to use their internet. Instaconnect is terrible. If you can even log in, (don't even think about it during peak usage times in the evening; approx 4-10pm), it signs you out randomly even when you are actively using the internet. I have tried to use it for Vidyo calls while telecommuting for work and it crashes every 5 minutes, otherwise the video freezes. Also tried to use it with a PS3 for watching Netflix and I am able to login about 10% of the time. Otherwise the internet browser won't even open for me to login before logging in to Netflix. When I can get on, the video feed is constantly buffering and I, again, get signed out randomly and have to quit to re-sign in to instaconnect. If you need consistent internet access, take your business elsewhere. read more

I utilized InstaConnect as my primary ISP provider while residing at Alvarado Parkside Apartments in Davis in 2014/2015. The connection was usually ok during the day, but from about 4 pm until after 10 pm and on weekends (high usage times) the connection was unreliable and practically useless. My spouse and I would lose connection every 5-10 minutes and would be unable to connect for up to 45 minutes at a time. I was in regular contact with InstaConnect customer service over a period of 3 months to try and work out this problem. Their customer service representatives, especially Crystal, were all very nice and apologetic over the phone--however the problem persisted and was never fixed. Each time I called I was given another reason why our service was not working and then assured it'd be fixed right away. Usually service would improve the next day and work for a day or two after my call, but then go back to not working and the cycle would start again. I got sick of dealing with this over and over again, so we finally decided to pay for Comcast service. It's an extra cost for us each month, but so far we've been able to use the internet any time of day without interruptions and without having to call customer service each time--something InstaConnect could not provide. Our evenings are much less stressful now that we have reliable service. read more

At Portage Bay apartments, instaconnect works in the middle of the weekday when no one is around. If you need to use the service during the evenings or at night, theres a 50% chance that it may be functioning. If you need the network during the weekend, dont count on it. If you rely on this to do school work, then you're going to want to get comcast or AT&T. Its unfortunate because the comcast connection isn't particularly good, but it won't die and remain unavailable for half a day to a day at a time.... its really unfortunate because the apartment started charging for this service this last year. When the network is broadcasting, it requires you to login. Around 50% of the time the login server will be unavailable with a notice that says "LB: ... check back later. Service unavailable" or the page just wont authenticate correctly allowing you to connect.... read more

Its not often I write reviews for telecommunication companies because on the average they are more frustrating then worth writing but I would like to say that I have used this service for some time now. In saying that you never get what you really want when working with wireless connections speeds less than the speed of light (which we all truly hope for, but in reality just cant achieve) Since they have upgraded their infrastructure the speeds have increased greatly ut sometimes I do get some bad lag. The real reason i'm writing this is their customer service.. it is exceptional. They have gone above and beyond on more than one occasion to help whatever problem I have hed. HOWEVER the problem is that she is literally the flotation device that keeps this company afloat. There is always problems regarding the connection of the darn thing. Most weekends (and especially when crawling under online assignments), the connection doesn't function, constantly frustrating me with an internal error message or the dreaded limited connection icon. The evenings are the WORST: You watch Netflix, boom disconnected! You're playing PS3 online, BOOM disconnected! You are working on homework and click submit....Guess again, INSTACONNECT HAS ENCOUNTERED AN ERROR. It ALWAYS encounters a darn error! I signed up for service at 10 am this morning. They picked up my call and set me up with the pro plan in about ten minutes. Super simple and fast. But then when I was set up, i still couldnt connect to the Internet. I was told that the DNS servers were temporarily down and that they would call me in a few minutes when they were ready and back up. Its been 6 hours now. And ive heard nothing from them. I tried calling back 5 times and they havent picked up once. I tried going to their office but none of the addresses theyve listed seem to be correct. Now i just want to cancel. This internet provider is the worst. My internet crashes frequently and when I turn on my computer there is a 50/50 chance at best of the internet working. If you play any kind of game, it will not work. On a good day my ping is around 1000, but it is normally around 1500.
