However, the carpet he inserted into my closet is comical. There is a clear line where his much darker/rougher new carpet meets my original. Seeing my look of distress when he showed me his completed work, he proceeded to tell me how my apartment complex was going to replace all of the carpets in my unit anyway because there was slight discoloration from regular wear and tear, to begin with. After paying hundreds of dollars, I am left with a mismatched carpet and a bad taste in my mouth from the experience. Our search for an honest company led us to West Coast, and we hoped the reviews were true. The good news is, West Coast is as honest as it gets. Askia came out and looked around the attic while I watched from the ladder. First, he showed me that the supposed mildew was some sort of harmless sandy clay-ish material. And the supposed black mold was just "lumber mold", an industry term for "stain fungi"--the common dark streaks in lumber that originate at the sawmill or in the forest, don't weaken the lumber, and are not indications of moisture. Who knew? Well, Askia knew. And he actually spent time convincing me that we didn't need their services. So do I recommend them to you? You betcha! An honest company is a joy to find.

And when we asked for a full written assessment they said they cannot do that but sent a recap summary in an email. After I wrote my review, we were asked to email customer service so they could help us. My husband sent the email right away on March 5. We never received a response so he sent a follow up email right at the end of March. We finally received a response in April 3. Basically they are saying that the person who came out to our property was incorrect and that by looking at the pictures, they have decided the cause of the damage is due to environmental factors. This is despite what the worker, who saw it in person, said and the fact that we have had floors installed (by empire) before and had no issues. So they said they will refund the $150 they charged us for the person who came out in person to assess the issue. Super disappointed and will obviously never use this company again. After sending him a few photos of penny sized bleach stains on our staircase Carpet, Dave came over and began treating all the stains. The stains were gone in the matter of two hours, and there was no major noise or disruptive process while he was here. Dave even went out of his way to come back a week later to retreat some of the more stubborn areas. All in all I would highly recommend Dave. For a few hundred bucks, Dave saved us from having to completely replace the entire carpet in our staircase which is nearly impossible to match with our existing carpet throughout the remainder of the house.
