Stayed here over the weekend while attending a friend's wedding. The hotel was huge, which I wasn't expecting. Room service from Miel was delicious (try the crabcakes!) and immediate (thankfully, as we were running half an hour late). The bathroom had a shower and a separate tub, which I made my boyfriend wash in, looking like an oversized child, as I took over the awesome shower. One of the best features of the room was that you could open the sliding windows above the bed to look into the bathroom, which I played with many an inopportune time, much to my boyfriend's chagrin. The parking situation was slightly annoying, as you had to walk across the lobby to switch elevators to go down to the freezing cold parking garage rather than them bringing your car up for you. You could, however, call for the car as many times as you wanted during your stay. I went to BU so this area of Boston wasn't one I would normally visit or stay in, but it was extremely convenient to the wedding location. I didn't have any problems with the place, and one great thing was that it was newer than a lot of Boston hotels, however, I probably wouldn't stay there again unless the location was again convenient to whatever I was doing. read more

They evacuated everyone in the hotel at 1:30 AM. We stayed out in the lawn for a good two hours, until we were told to go to a neighbor hotel five blocks away. All of us ended up sleeping on the floor of the ballroom at the Boston Harbor instead. We were finally let back into the hotel at 9:30 AM. An electric problem? OK, I understand... But what's worse, we were evacuated AGAIN the next morning, this time slightly at a more accommodating hour.. at 7AM. Granted this evacuation was only 20 minutes, the hotel repeated the same mistake twice. From what a neighbor guest told me, this was nothing new... it had happened when she had stayed with them a month ago. They gave us the first night (the night my family slept cold and crunched up on the ballroom floor) for free and offered to send us a coupon for a complimentary night at the hotel (for the second time the alarm went off). But this does NOT make up for the lost time and fatigue my family and I dealt with during our trip to Boston. InterContinental, I am paying $500 a night for comfort and luxury, not for eight hour long, not to mention two days in a row, evacuations caused by your circuit problems. read more

I'm sad. Really sad. I work near the InterContinental and have enjoyed conferences at the hotel, their spa and drinks/dinner at their restaurants but I'm afraid I won't be back. Recently, I went to Rumba with a few colleagues and enjoyed a Thursday evening beverage or two by the fireplace. When we went to close out our bill, two people paid in cash and two by card, I was one of the card-payers. My portion of the bill was small, I signed the receipt and left feeling satisfied as the atmosphere is great and service is always A+. The next morning, I went to check my account only to find a major hold on the funds in my account (four times the amount of my actual charge), which resulted in an overdraft of my account. I immediately called the hotel and was told I should speak with someone at Rumba and was transferred. No one answered, so I called back a few times and received the same response, no answer. I decided to call the main hotel number again, and this time was told I needed to speak to someone in accounting to rectify the issue. I spoke with a representative in accounting who was very helpful, very nice and very sympathetic which I truly appreciated. Unfortunately, I didn't receive a clear reason as to why such a large hold was placed on my account for such a small check. At first the representative thought it might have been due to the tab being held against my card, which it wasn't. With that idea out, the next thought was maybe it held for the amount of the bill plus tip, but that didn't seem reasonable either since the OTHER person who paid by card also had a hold on her account, but for $6.00 more than the actual bill, so that didn't make sense (why was my hold so large and hers disproportionately small?) I asked if there was anything they could do about the overdraft fees I would incur, and was told unfortunately they couldn't do anything about it and asked if I'd like to speak with a manager. I said yes and was transferred. The manager was also sympathetic and said they couldn't do anything to refund the overdraft. I said "Well I guess if there isn't anything you can do then that's it" and said thank you and hung up. I'm disappointed because I like the InterContinental, I like their bars and restaurants and I like what they have to offer, but I don't trust whatever system they use to charge guests. In the grand scheme of things, a $20-$40 overdraft credit isn't much to them, and to be honest it's not much to me, but it's the principle of the matter. If they had said they'd send me a $20 credit to the spa, or the bar, I'd have been so much happier because there's no way I should be responsible for this issue, but that offer never came. I plan to share this information with my colleagues and would advise anyone to check their bill after they pay for services at the hotel. read more

This is my new favorite hotel. The fiance and I stayed here three nights on our New England trip. Two nights in the beginning and 1 night at the end courtesy of Delta for canceling our flight home. No worries. I love free extended vacays a great hotels. Things I like about this hotel: 1.The room is dark. 2. It's quiet. 3. The bed. OMG this bed is so comfortable and big. Just try not to sleep well in this hotel. even with aching muscles after a full day of site seeing it did the trick. 3. The bathroom. It's huge and that bathtub with the shower gel is all so relaxing for a bubble bath. 4. It's very clean. 5. Great location. Walking distance to the freedom trail, Faneuil Hall, Little Italy, China Town and only one block to the T, the subway which has a direct route to the airport. 6. The great deal we got from Hotwire. Things I didn't like: 1. The window that goes from the bedroom to the bathroom. It's a bit weird. 2. The window washer who was clumping up the side of the building as I stepping out of the shower. 3. My boyfriend and I stayed at the InterContinental this past weekend so we could have a romantic night together. We are both from Boston, and we both work near the InterContinental and we've always wanted to go here for something special once we had the money and opportunity to do so. For those who are not from Boston..the hotel is in a great location - there are many places that you can go that is walking distance from this hotel. You can walk to Faneuil Hall, the Seaport District, Downtown Boston, Chinatown, North End, etc. This hotel is in the middle of it all. It is also right on the harbor, which is a beautiful view to look out from your window (though our view was just the building next to the hotel). We were planning to go to Faneuil Hall to go to a bar that we like there, but it was extremely cold the night that we stayed. My boyfriend and I both think that the InterContinental is a really beautiful hotel. The outside of the hotel is what got us to want to stay here, but the inside is just as nice. We were originally placed in a room with two beds, but we asked if we could switch to a room with a King bed. They were able to do this easily for us. We used the gym during our stay, and it was nice! There were about 4 treadmills, 4 ellipticals, and 4 bikes. There were also weights and weight machines, towels, water, and fruit. The bathroom was huge compared to other hotel bathrooms. There is a shower with a glass door as well as a separate bath tub. My boyfriend and I were really excited to use a hot tub together since we decided to stay in because it was so cold out. However, unfortunately, there is no hot tub or jacuzzi in the hotel. When we saw the bath, we were extremely excited to use it! We were having a great night during our stay. But one MAJOR problem: the bath tub gave both my boyfriend and I severe rashes. We both used the tub and it was very nice while we were soaking in it. However, a few hours later, my skin felt sore to the touch....and then a few hours more.. and my boyfriend's skin felt the same way. It was so painful, like how your skin feels when you have a sunburn! It has been over 5 days since our stay at the hotel, and my skin does not hurt to the touch as it did 3 days ago, but it is bumpy, extremely dry, and irresistibly itchy. We both know that it was the bath tub because only our backs, thighs, sides of our body, and arms had this problem.. and these are the body parts that touch the tub... not our chests or stomachs or faces. This really ruined our time together for the next couple of days. I called the hotel to ask about the products used to clean the tub so that I could tell my doctor in case it got any worse. The woman that is head of housekeeping was very nice to me, but talking to her didn't help at all. I do not think that it is just because of our skin sensitivity or whatever excuse you can come up with. The pain was SEVERE and that never happens when I take a bath in my own tub. This experience really ruined our perception of the hotel. All we wanted was a romantic night together and this really ruined it for us. read more

First of all, the management was not only rude, but they were also downright abusive. The mini bar was locked (even though it was empty) so when I went downstairs to stock it from the hotel, the manager on duty was incredibly ill-mannered. Every time I picked up the phone, it was "busy" so there were no guest services. I had to go to the bar to have THEM send up guest services or just eat there. Not only that, the very last night I was there was horrific. I was about to go to sleep (it was after midnight) when I had a knock at the door. The guy said it was a non-smoking room and they had complaints of smoke. (Smoke that is legal in MA) so he said he would have to add $600 onto my hotel tab. I said I was sorry, didn't realize that all of the rooms were non-smoking, to please add anything he would like to my tab, etc and that I was going to bed. Then fifteen minutes later he comes back with the manager that was so hateful to me the first night. The guy literally tells me I have ten minutes to pack my things or he's going to call the police. He literally threw me out into the streets of Boston at 1 am. I'm 5'2" tall and weigh about 118 lbs. I'm a small female not from Boston, obviously and definitely not familiar with where to go at 1 am. He literally just stood in the doorway and yelled at me over and over again, "You have ten minutes to pack before we call the police." I asked for both their cards, and they were just blank white pieces of paper and one said "Very" the other "Legere." I've never been treated so abusively in the hospitality industry. In my haste (these dudes were HUGE and scared the crap out of me) I actually fell and severely bruised my right elbow. Neither offered assistance. It was disgusting. Then they proceed to charge me literally DOUBLE what my stay was supposed to be with ZERO invoice. I've called repeatedly to report and nothing has been done, no one got back to me, zip. The Good This hotel's location cannot be beat - a stone's throw from South Station, the Seaport District and the Aquarium. It is a super easy walk to the North End. The Rumba bar in the lobby turned out to be our favorite spot each night. It serves up delicious rum and tiki drinks to a mix of hotel guests and the after-work crowd. Rooms are spacious and the bathrooms are fantastic. Great water pressure with endless hot water, and the soaps/shampoo/conditioner bottles all smelled great. The Bad Despite reading time and time again in other reviews that the beds are comfortable, I could not disagree more. I found them to be more of a solid, unyielding, unforgiving experience. Each morning began with a handful of Advil and a walk to Dunkin Donuts for coffee to try to walk off the nocturnal assault. I mentioned the discomfort to the concierge one night (I may have had a few at Rumba before I got this brilliant idea). I figured our room simply had not been updated yet. She assured me the hotel was new, and all the furniture was up to date. So I guess this is what they were going for when they furnished the place. One week was far too long on these beds. Would I come back? Hmmm. Tough one. I do love that Rumba bar. A lot. But I might try a nearby option like the Boston Harbor Hotel. They have got to have more comfortable beds. Easily the most beautiful hotel I have ever stayed in. I did not want to leave. From the lobby, to the corridors, to the room itself, the details were impeccable. This place was sexy, no argument. This is somewhere you definitely want to go to put you in the mood for your significant other. The shower was awesome, as was the bathtub (though, I will admit, I am not a fan of clear glass showers, I like my privacy). Most interesting feature? The sliding double-doors above the headboard which create a window into the bathroom right above the bathtub. Is it so that you can watch TV in the tub? Or so that your SO can watch you in the shower? You'd have to ask the designer. My ex at the time used them to sneak into the bathroom while I was showering, so that is a downside if you like your privacy. The room was enormous, and the hotel was allegedly built on the site of the Boston Tea Party. The views were spectacular. The bed was plush and super comfy, as it should be. One complaint is the lack of bubble bath for such an incredible bathroom. There was none available in the building, which seemed odd to me. Room service was expensive, but it usually is. The french toast we ordered was literally the best I have ever had. And of course, Miel on the property is open 24 hours, which is more than genius. And there's a spa! The decor seriously affected my mood. It was so beautiful that I was ecstatic every second of my stay. I was trying to figure a way to move in. The best part is that you can get outstanding discount deals for the InterContinental on Hotels.com, Hotwire, or Priceline, and stay in luxury for a very reasonable price. I wouldn't recommend anywhere else if you're coming to Boston for a visit. Treat yourself to the InterContinental at any opportunity. read more

A beautiful hotel with a scenic overlook of the Boston Tea Party Museum right next to the waterfront. I stayed here in March of 2015. All the staff here was friendly and helpful. They were always quick to respond to my needs. My only complaint is that the room service menu is a little expensive, but what hotel menu isn't? The king size bed is super comfortable and my room featured a separate tub and shower which was great for relaxing. A quick tip, Rooms often do not come with free WiFi and it will cost you $19 for up to ten devices. If you sign up for their free members club though you get access for free! I just called the front desk, gave my email address and name, and an access code was all mine. read more

We stayed at the Boston Intercon for a friend's wedding and were somewhat disappointed with the overall experience. Although the facilities and rooms were clean and well-styled, I wasn't impressed with the level of refinement for upwards of $300 per night. Perhaps the greatest let-down was the service. The staff was unhelpful, bordering on rude. There was also no complimentary anything. Not only was the wifi a whopping $20/day, but if you so much as move an item in the fridge, you best be ready to pay for it ... bastards ... The hotel is, however, very well located. Stayed here for 3 nights during Ryan G's BU graduation weekend and loved it here! first the hotel has a great location - walking distance to the North End, Freedom Trail, Fanueil Hall, and basically most of the touristy must-dos in Boston. Also the hotel itself is really nice and clean. the lobby has a lot of seating areas which served as a great meeting up spot for my family while in town. the rooms are spacious enough for 2 people but the only awkward part is the sliding screen door window that separates the bathroom from the bedroom. make sure that you're with someone that you know and are comfortable with if you're staying here haha. the staff was also really accommodating - great restaurant suggestions, gave good directions, and overall was very helpful. only slight negatives are: no free wi-fi! i think its $13 a day which is pretty ridiculous at such a nice hotel like this. also, we were on a lower floor so heard a lot of street noise and sirens since the fire department is nearby the hotel. read more

3 stars for the restaurants: I've never stayed in their rooms but have eaten at all three restaurants. Waitstaff are always friendly and professional. However, service can be slow at times. This is a popular spot for late night, but I'm not usually craving for anything on their menu. I think Miel is the only one open for late night dining, but once we asked if we could order off the Rumba bar menu and they let us do that. The outside patio is really cool and reminds me of Miami. Too bad we can only take advantage of it during the summer months. 4 stars for ballroom event and catering: I recently went to a reception dinner event in one of the ballrooms. The food was AMAZING. I could not resist any of the passed hor d'oeuvres...shimp salad on a plaintain chip, jumbo scallops with maybe a pesto sauce, crab cakes, beef wellington, seared tuna and then there was the seafood bar with raw oysters and shrimp cocktail with the biggest shrimps ever! OMG, I seriously thought I was in food heaven! By the time we got seated for dinner I was so stuffed, but I was able to squeeze in my beef tenderloin entree..uhm, and the dessert, too. Presentation and taste was all there. I also noticed the event coordinator checking in with the host several times to make sure everything was on schedule and running OK. The bathrooms are also amazing...it was like a never ending hallway of full length door private stalls. I can't imagine anyone ever having to wait in line. I will admit that some of the credit goes to the host for selecting such a wonderful menu; I would not be surprised if it broke the bank. lol. If I ever had to do an event without a budget, I would definitely consider this hotel! read more

I have now been to the Intercontinental twice for amazing work events. Not that there was probably any doubt but these guys are a class act. My first event was a holiday party at my old job that was completely extravagant. The 3 course meal and the open bar were pulled off flawlessly. The second event was for a luncheon for about 70 people with a guest speaker and an amzing lunch served. Again, what a perfect venue. The food was also fantastic. They had this avocado salad that they served inside the avocado shell. I have no idea how much this place costs per head but I'm sure it is pricey, but you pay for what you get. read more

We stayed at the InterContinental for four nights over the 4th of July holiday weekend and had a wonderful time. The hotel was beautiful, updated, and exceptionally clean and it was in a perfect location - pretty convenient to just about anything we wanted to do. Room: The room was very light and spacious and we had a great water view of the Tea Party Museum. There was ample seating throughout the room and the TV was large so you could see it wherever you were. The bed was pretty comfortable, maybe a little hard. The bathroom was gorgeous marble with a glass enclosed shower and a separate soaking tub which I definitely enjoyed. There was a weird window thing that slid open and opened up the entire bathroom but it didn't totally close the bathroom off because there was a gap at the bottom so that could have been really uncomfortable if it was a couple's first trip away together or something. Our phone didn't work and it was the only one in the room that had a button to call down to the concierge or front desk so that was a little frustrating at times. Service: The service was pretty good. Housekeeping was great and very friendly; they were attentive and helpful in meeting our needs for the most part - though we did run out of toilet paper one day. I was a little surprised when we checked in that no one asked if we needed help with our bags. Our bags had wheels but still, I would expect a hotel of this caliber to at least offer. Amenities: We got cocktails at Rumba a few times and the service at the bar was great - very attentive and the drinks were good. However the food (and we only got one thing each time) took forever to come and we weren't there during peak hours; it took so long in fact that one time they took it off of our bill without us even saying anything. The service at the tables was very slow so I'd definitely recommend sitting at the bar. There are a couple other restaurants and a really cute patio bar overlooking the water that we didn't have a chance to try out. For a business hotel the "business center" is a joke. It's two computers in the middle of the gift shop so if you're looking for privacy or anything it's not really going meet those needs. It was also a little in the way if you're trying to look at some of the products and someone is sitting in the chairs blocking the display. All in all it was an amazing time and I'd definitely recommend this hotel. read more

We booked this hotel on line through Hot wire. Rated as a 4.5 star and I feel as though it needs a 5. Great staff at check in and a well located hotel were a good start but they were only the beginning. After 2 weeks in the rustic cape cod area with 2 kids this was the perfect juxtaposed setting to acclimate to normal life. Great business environment and lots of nearby restaurants as well as 2 here in the hotel. The rooms were well appointed with ample bathrooms, separate tub/ shower areas and large living area. The rooms were balanced with a comfortable mix of soft and hard surfaces and textures. This was a home run. As a relatively new modern and reasonably priced hotel, I can't imagine staying anywhere else. I liked this hotel: the room was really pretty, but what I really judge a hotel room on is the luxuriousness of the bathroom and the heavenliness of the bed. The Intercontinental gets high marks in both areas. I also liked the set up of the room, which was nice and open. The bathroom had an open 'window' that overlooked the rest of the room. The only downside was the ridiculousness of a fire alarm drill that went down at 5:30 AM on a Friday! I don't think I'll figure out what that unwelcome nonsense was about, but I liked the hotel enough not to think too much of it. (Though there were a couple of other minor incidents, coupled with this, that lead me to believe that the customer service at this hotel isn't on the same level as most 4 star hotels.) The location of the hotel was conveniently located a very walkable distance from South Station, which is the drop off point for my transportation of choice: Acela. It's also a pretty part of the city and very close to most places in Boston. Some good restaurants and bars in the area as well. I'll be back. read more

Our stay was short...but AMAZING. THis was hands down the best hotel experience I have had in years, possibly ever. From the second we walked in we were treated like absolute royalty. Our room was amazing. I don't know if all the rooms have this view or if we just got lucky, but I felt like we had the best room in the place! Right across from the gorgeous holiday-decorated downtown Boston Firehouse!! We were able to walk to Fanuiel Hall/Boston Commons/Downtown easily and the walk was a nice one. Perfect for a walk to go explore, just long enough to walk off a hefty Italian dinner :) If a cab is needed for any reason, the hotel staff ensures it is ready ASAP, and it was a town car for the same price on both occasions we needed one! Restaurants & bars in the hotel are chic & fun! Great themes, food, drinks & service to all of them. Great valet service. Amazing housekeeping/room/bellman service. This hotel made me want to MOVE TO BOSTON and live in the hotel. LOL! OMG you can actually, they have residences, dog friendly ones at that. What I LOVED about that Boston InterCon. was it's brand spankin' new! Everything is crispy and hardly touched, a shiny new penny to say the least. Rooms are extra large at this space and the bathroom....oh, I could have slept in the bathroom. Well, at least in the giant bathtub across from the shower, next to the sliding windows which I could see my flat screen TV from. If you've ever stayed at an InterCon. before you probably liked it because of the overflowing amenities, friendly staff, and swanky hotel-bar. Each InterCon. locale will offer you consistency and luxury, and you are expected to pay for it (about 3 times over). The rooms will be spacious and you will receive whatever you want. Room service, cocktails, music, laundry service, concierge services, anything really. I have this tip that everyone knows about, but ever forgets to USE! so USE IT! Priceline peeps, come on!! Start low like the Ads say and go for it! Our rooms were like $150 and when I checked the website they wanted $400 for the same room! Go bargain for your price instead of settling on a fixed one.....it's the "cool" thing to do! read more

Everything you'd want in Boston Ever stayed in some of the "rooms" (more like closets) many downtown Boston hotels offer? The InterContinental's rooms are good sized, in fact their bathroom is the size of a hotel room right up the street... Let's start with the rooms: High-end, upgraded room. Very comfortable beds, very clean room. Good sized flat screen tv's (40inch maybe). Bathrooms, as mentioned, are huge. Tub and stand up shower (in my room at least). Plenty of pillows of all types. Though I can't remember if they had normal sized pillows or those annoying mini's other places have. Great view. Location: A couple blocks down from Quincy Market/Financial District/Aquarium. AKA, GREAT location for most. Lobby/General areas: High-end. Parking: Solid, typical. We went valet, car was ready very quickly. They ONLY thing that stopped this from getting a perfect rating was my check in. Took forever (over 30 mins). Fortunately I wasn't in a rush, as I had a work meeting and the family was at the aquarium. And the staff was trying VERY hard to figure out what was going on with their computers. They weren't indifferent to how long it was taking, but it did take forever. Not a typical check in and I will be back. Highly recommend. read more

This is a four-star hotel. (Make that four Yelp stars!) I was impressed with the modern decor and the amenities. I stayed in a Deluxe room (two double beds). It had everything you could want: plasma TV (but strangely, no HD programming yet), comfortable beds dressed with fine linens, even a mood light on the panel above the nighttable. The resplendent bathroom features separate tub and shower (and a scale that told me I had gained six pounds on my trip). The view from my eighth-floor room included the Children's Museum across the wharf. My roommate, a first-year lawyer with discriminating tastes, called our room "the nicest I've ever stayed in." I sampled just one of the hotel's amenities: the fitness center. It is clean and equipped with the latest and greatest in cardio and Nautilus machines. I liked the large stretching/yoga area, replete with body balls. The fitness center's best asset is its location: it is on the second floor and overlooks Atlantic Ave. I would spin for twenty minutes just for people watching. My only quibble with this hotel is the checkout procedure. It isn't automated, so I had to wait in line on a Sunday morning for a few minutes. I found out about this place because of a deal on Travelzoo. Amazingly, it was $160 off the regular rate. Miraculously, the rate applied - and rooms were available - the weekend of Harvard and MIT's commencements and reunions. The hotel seemed rather empty each time I walked through it during my stay, so I suppose the cat isn't out of the bag yet on this gem. If you want to be in the middle of the action on Boston's renascent waterfront, you owe it to yourself to stay in the InterContinental. read more

Especially when it's the first time in years that my wife and I could have slept in because we didn't have the kids. The second morning we woke up to cigarette smoke... apparently the people in the room next door didn't know what a none-smoking building was. It instantly turned this nice hotel into a Motel-8 in my mind. It was pretty nasty! We complained to the front desk and left the hotel for an hour, when we returned our room was made up and the smell was gone. I really liked this hotel, but the thing that I didn't like the was having to pay for wifi. They charge $15 for every 24 hours per device. My wife and I have iphones and lap tops. Seems like most crappy hotels have free wifi, so it's annoying to have to pay for that when you're at a nice place. All things considered - I'd stay here again, because of the beautiful bathrooms and comfy beds. read more

I'll qualify this review by saying I would give this 5-stars if not for the fact that it is located in Boston. I like Boston, but hotel prices are outrageous, $35 to park overnight AT the hotel, $25 cab rides crawling down Storrow Drive, and traffic like the "Big Dig" never happened. I know, it's petty, but the city still needs work. All that said, the hotel itself is a pleasure end to end. The concierge was extremely helpful, and a brief conversation with the hotel's PR Director was pleasant and informative without overselling. Beautiful entry, quick check-in, and despite my having booked this reservation via a Priceline auction ($200/night ,,, amazing), they put me on the top floor with a great view of the city. The room was clean and spacious. All the equipment worked fine, and the mini-bar was reasonably priced with a good selection of booze and snacks. Bed comfy and clean (no bed bugs), water pressure in the shower and the rest all very good. My drinks and dinner dates were scattered around town, and the doorman was helpful with "best routes" and directions for the cabbie, relieving me of the stress of getting squeezed for unnecessary miles by an overzealous local. Drinks at Eastern Standard (awesome), dinner at The Palm (old school cool), then back to the hotel. Closed the night out at Rumba (that's "Rum Bar" as pronounced by a true Bostonian ... get it?). The PR Director had recommended the bar to me as "the best hotel bar in Boston - very happening." She was right on. The bar was packed with singles, mingling, good energy, and lots of new - ahem - connections being made left and right. Closed things out at 1am, breakfast at the hotel's brasserie, Miel, at 8am (excellent), out the door at 9am. No waiting, no hassles. I booked online through Hotwire because my normal chain was booked fully and I hate to bump people for no reason. After booking I read all the reviews everywhere as we were taking a weekend in Boston to celebrate my wife's birthday and our upcoming anniversary and I wanted to know what to expect in the hotel and surrounding area. Some reviews made mention of bookings not being honored so I was worried and called ahead, no problem, they had the reservation. Asked for a king bed, and was told "arrive early" so I was again concerned. But, on arrival they had the request noted in the system, asked if the standard king was fine, and gave us a city-view on the 11th floor. The room was beautiful, well appointed with modern luxury touches. The bedside lighting is sophisticated and adjustable - three types of bedside lights. The first are standard table lamps, the second are led spotlights on flexible arms, and the third is a dim lighting in the headboard side panels to either side of the sliding windows between the soaking tub and the room. Additionally there are switches on both sides of the bed to turn on the hall light and not trip over something in the middle of the night. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, with four pillows plus a longer body pillow with nice cover. The bathroom is well done, marble, granite, tile, wood, ceramic and chrome fixtures, and lots of shelves. There are good photos on this and some of the travel sites. But, beautiful, well done bathrooms. The room had a chaise at the foot of the bed, a nice chair and ottoman, dedicated office space in the room I was in (it said King Deluxe on the check in slip, but the room map on the door made some rooms look smaller, and the Deluxe was supposed to be the smallest I thought). I can't find a great room layout on any of the sites. Other furnishings were dark wood night tables and dresser/TV console, and desk. There were adequate plug-ins where needed. A nice touch was the iPhone/iPod compatible clock radio - we plugged one in and had our own music in the room. I was ecstatic because of the rate I paid on Hotwire, and the hotel service backed it up. We tried two of the hotel restaurants, to be reviewed separately, Miel and Sushi-Teq, and had great service in each. The restaurant manager for Miel stopped and had a nice conversation when we engaged with him. Talked about the food, chefs, and local area with us. read more

Oh my gawd, the bathrooms. Now let me be honest and say I've never stayed at the Intercontinental Boston nor do I have any idea what the rooms are like. Nor have I eaten at the restaurants here. But sometimes when I know I ate something that's not sitting well in my stomach and I don't want to deal with the embarassment of the shared 5-stall bathroom, I'll run out and down the block to use the Intercontinental's bathrooms. Pure heaven. The decor is absolutely beautiful. The doors are full length and feet nor head can be seen. The stalls feel less like stalls and more like personal toilet rooms. The privacy is the best! And once you're done with "business", you walk over to the gorgeous sinks, wash up and dry your hands with absolutely exhisite engraved towelettes. It's so good that I frequently make friends stop in for pee breaks while walking by. These bathrooms are just too irresistable. Seriously, if you're in the area and you have "business" to take care of, stop by the Intercontinental. The staff has never given me funny/dirty looks, I never get asked any questions and the experience is totally free! read more

InterContinental Boston - Arrived again - Hotels Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

I stayed here with some friends just last weekend. We were in town for PAX East at the convention center. This InterContinental is in a convenient part of town, priced similarly to other hotels in its tier. While there, I didn't really interact with any staff or anything... but long before our trip, I had exchanged emails with one of the Assistant Managers who was absolutely fantastic in helping me make plans, book a room, and get a great rate. I'm not sure what else one could really ask for. This hotel with a group of any less than four is normally out of my price range but considering the location and the amenities, should the opportunity ever arise again... I'd gladly come back for another stay. One thing I would've hoped for though is free WiFi. I think that's the only real big lack I felt. PS. In case you're tempted to splurge an order a steak sometime after midnight, it's so worth it. It will be done quickly and should you get fries with it...well, they'll be fried in TRUFFLE OIL OMG. read more

Very nice hotel close to South Station. I booked this on hotwire and got an awesome deal so can't really speak about what you get for this hotel compared to what people typically for it. That being said, here are the pros and cons of this place (Definitely mostly pros). Pros: * Very friendly staff. Everyone from the front desk staff to the concierge. * Awesome rooms including a very comfortable bed. * Great location. You are literally a 5 minute walk to the aquarium and South Station and maybe 8 minutes to Quincy Market and the North End. * The bathrooms are awesome. Jacuzzi tub, glass door showers. Very nice. Cons: * Valet parking costs $40 / night. This is essentially them just parking it in their garage for you. I realize Boston parking is expensive to begin with, but $40 / night is a little much. * The sliding door between the bathroom and the room. It looks nice, but it makes it awkward. Basically this sliding door is above the bed and opens up to reveal the bathroom with no locks. You are able to hear ALL noises coming in from the bathroom when you're on the bed (awkward) and you can easily slide it open which kind of kills any privacy. Plus, if you go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, the light shines into your room from the bathroom. Anyway, this is definitely a great hotel and one of the better ones I've stayed in within the Boston area. read more

The staff are friendly, the rooms clean. I enjoyed the views of the river and city from our room. The Bed was comfortable, the wash-room large with quality toiletries. There is a strange window to the bathroom located above the bed on one side, tub on the other. The sitting area was comfortable. The room is modern. There is a desk as well as plenty of power outlets. I can`t think of anything that would have made the room and our stay any better. We did order room service which was prompt and tasty. Sushi Teq in the main lobby area was very good. I loved the orange and cinnamon along with the salt and limes. Décor was great. The hotel bar was just okay. Drinks were not great and service could have been better. When the wrong drinks were brought, a simple apology and correction would have been good, rather than an excuse and making it almost seem like we were at fault. The outside area out the back door of the hotel was a nice spot for a stroll along the river. read more

If you're debating whether or not this is the best hotel for your trip to Boston, just stop and go book it! The rooms are surprisingly large with a huge 55" LED TV, large desk, a chaise lounge at the end of the bed. The bathroom is also BIG, with a large soaker tub and just about everything you could ask for inside. The hotels lobby areas and restaurants are beautiful, and the building butts right up against the harbor within a hundred yards of the Boston Tea Party museum. The staff, the concierges in particular (Adam and Luis were awesome) we all outstanding. The location is within an easy walk of the North End, where all the history is and all the tours start. Actually, Boston is a pretty small city, so if a 3 mile walk is okay, you can see almost everything on foot. My only complaints are that there is a weird pass through between the bathroom and the bedroom that reduces your privacy quite a bit. .no chili before bed please. Had a 3 day weekend here in June. The Good: Great location - right by water; honey and I walked to everything. Excellent bathtub in room. Very clean. Spa front desk girl, Miel hostesses, bar guys late at night when you run down for a 7-up 'cause your honey is sick - all very helpful and friendly. Umbrella provided in room closet - nice. 2 satin hangers with no-slip buttons in room closet as well as regular hangers - thoughtful. The Meh: Mattress was uncomfortable, but pillows and duvet were great. Some channels on t.v. were fuzzy. No programming channel so we could see what was on w/o flipping through every darn channel. Our room had a lovely view of the roof. Hotel ATM was not working during our visit. Everything was pricey, including the 7-up at the bar ($5 for a small bottle). The Bad: Wifi is not part of room price, and it costs $6.50 for 15 mins in the "Business Center" The "Business Center" is a joke. It's a tiny corner of the gift shop. Room service price automatically includes an 18% gratuity and $5 delivery charge and MA sales tax, and there's *still* a spot for a tip for the guy that brings the food up! WTH? Either I'm tipping him or you are, decide. The Ugly: The front desk staff...omg...you all seriously need to train you some considerate and professional people that care about your clients. The guy that checked us in (at midnight after all day flights from the West Coast) thought I was a hooker - no, really. We were able to laugh it off after walking away from the front desk and it makes for a funny travel story, but... The lotion they provide in the room is the single worst smelling lotion I have ever had the misfortune to put on my hands. I washed it back off immediately. Don't use it. Summary: Would I go back? Sure, if someone else was paying. Might find a different hotel on my own dime though. Oh - and I'd wear a floor length skirt, turtleneck, a string of pearls, and a long coat when I was checking in, too. :P read more

Great outside bar, the bartenders were super friendly and made great mojitos. Do try the blueberry mojito! The view of the sea port is beautiful and the location is prime. You can walk everywhere on a warm day and public transportation is right around the corner. I did not stay at the hotel but I frequent the outside and inside bar- it is a happening place. read more

Beautiful hotel, pretty clean, close to all the popular sites! Bed skirt had some stains though, so hopefully these are being changed. Only mentioning bc the stains looked like brown drip stains and although probably soda still not pleasant to look at.
