It was just a simple treatment for ourselves to escape from the heat wave in Boston recently, above 100 degrees!! @@ The hotel was simply great. Check in and out was breeze and easy. I did my swimming. Michael used the hot sauna and he says he was great. We got the room in the higher floor 11th, and it has a great city view. Overall it was easy and nice staycation option for us in Greater Boston area. One tip for a swimmers: The locker room is not connected to the swimming pool so after you change in locker room, you will need to walk thru the gym area im swimsuit haha! read more

Located in the heart of the financial district in Boston, the InterContinental Hotel is supreme! The views are spectacular, the staff is beyond accommodating and friendly, not to mention, the hotel is situated right by the water! Grab a drink and sit out there at night, and it's the most relaxing, serene thing in the world! The room was beautiful! Got a king size bed and it was amazingly comfortable! The bathtub and the shower were high quality! I paid the extra $150 or so to be included in what I like to call the "food room!" Open every morning until late into the afternoon, they offer breakfast, complementary snacks and drinks (including beer and wine) and have a couple selections for "appetizer" like options for dinner time. They have a full-on coffee machine, and a refrigerator with soda, water, etc. You can technically take as many as you need, but don't go crazy! Side note, you have to either add this when booking the hotel room, or ask them for the availability of this option since it's only offered for a certain floor, and certain rooms unfortunately! The hotel is certainly not cheap, you'll wind up paying several hundred dollars for a nice room, but customer service, the views, the location, and the friendliness of the staff will compensate for that price, trust me! And plus, the hotel is situated really close to the major attraction of Quincy Market, and a plethora of other tourist sites! Their parking garage is also really big and have very good service! It's almost like a valet service! You leave the car with them at the beginning, and you go downstairs into the lot if you ever need the car for something and they will gladly get the car for you, bring it around, and you get to drive it up and out of the underground lot! However, this service is separate from the hotel room fee! It's about $40-$50/day to have the car stored in the lot! There are several restaurants in the hotel, and they have a full bar as well! Yes it's pricey, yes it's beautiful and located wonderfully downtown with walking access to the wharf, North End, and T. The staff were friendly and efficient and they went out of their way to correct a minor housekeeping issue, as well as sent us a lovely (gratis) anniversary package. My first time at an Intercontinental, high end & high quality for those special occasions. I lived being able to soak in the roomy bathroom tub (shower was a separate area in bath), with sliding 'windows' to connect to the sleeping/living space. Worth the once in a lifetime spoiling experience. The only downside was the food...nothing to write home about...expected better quality for such high end. I called to get it turned back on, after I had already tested it with the cleaning staff, and it was off. I get it it saves money. But I called down to get it turned back on and they tried to get an engineer to come. After 30 minutes I just left. -no microwave and fridge. I had read reviews of no microwave and fridge due to Covid. I called ahead and they confirmed it has since been implemented. But failed to mention these are rare and hard to come by. Ultimately I was able to get a fridge so that was a pro. But no microwave. If the fridge and room service included organic / no sugar added foods, I would be okay with it. But snickers and cheese itz? I don't eat these things. - pay the 50$ a day and go to equinox. Gym equipment is good but could use a little bit more for younger crowd. Overall you will be able to hit your quads, hamstrings, bicep and tricep for extended stays. - tv does a commercial every time it's turned on. Remote is not sensitive enough I have to click a ton. Then all the sudden it wants to be overly sensitive and receptive to every small touch. Stayed here because of work. I wouldn't pay out of pocket to stay here again. read more

Loved the location and the service. All the staff was friendly and all the public spaces were clean. I had a nice corner room with a view of the city. The bathroom had a large soaking tub and a good size shower. I am an IHG member, so I was given complimentary breakfasts for both nights of my stay, with taxe and gratuity included. That was very nice. I used the spa for several services and everything was as expected, friendly, clean, on time. But I did have a few issues with the room. First the bathroom: for the amount I paid per night for the room, I did not expect mold growing on the grout and caulking of the shower. Second, the bed has no flat sheet between me and the duvet. The duvet was too warm and I sweated a lot. Do they change the duvet covers for every change of customer? I have my doubt. read more

The hotel is nice and has a good location, the fees can be more than the room rate though. Pros: good location, lobby smells amazing, nice deep tub & large bathroom. Cons: no microwaves, one of our queen beds didn't have a top sheet. Since they no longer offer a mini bar in room, they also no longer allow you to use the fridge. Concierge is too responsive and doesn't let you get your whole question out before launching into a long explanation. I finally had to stop him when he took a breath and ask if I could finish. I had the pleasure of drinking at the bar. The drinks flowed frequently and were loaded with taste. The apps. were amazing... I also went to the spa, thanks to my daughter who purchased a visit for me. It included a pedicure which to my surprise lasted 40 minutes and most of the time was a massage from my toes to my knees... All I can say is WOW!!! I'm definitely a fan of pedicures now... Who would have thought??? Then I was transferred into another room and was treated to a fantastic Swedish massage. Again just Fabulous!!! As the InterContinental can get pricey, there are a few tips to save a buck or two. My daughter purchased this spa pack from Groupon for approximately 1/2 of the normal rate. As a bonus, I was allowed to stay in the pool and sauna area for the remainder of the day. I actually spent a full day there and I really am looking forward to returning soon. This is the perfect place to spend a wintery day treating yourself to luxury. read more

I reserved for three nights including breakfast package for myself, my wife and our two kids. When I checked with the front desk, I was told the restaurant would charge for the breakfast, but that the charges would be removed for each person as long as they had no more than one entree, one juice and one coffee drink. I got a similar story when I confirmed in the restaurant. When I got the invoice after checking out, I was charged for much more than this. I called the hotel twice and was told by the people I spoke with that this has been a broader problem and I'd be contacted by a manager. Never got a call back. Also called IHG and was told they'd look into this and get back to me. Never happened. I guess being an IHG Platinum member and just expecting people to abide by their statements was too much to ask. Excellent hotel located on the harbor and convenient to the financial district and a short walk to the bustling seaport area. The rooms are very nice with a unique sliding window between the bathroom and bedroom. Rooms are spacious and nicely appointed. Most rooms offer a nice view of either the harbor or downtown buildings. As usual, my view was of the HVAC units which I must say are some of the finest air conditions units I've seen in my travels! The hotel has very nice meeting spaces which can accommodate a fairly large conference. The layout makes getting around the hotel very easy. Stayed here 12/30/2021 - 12/31/2021. The hotel is clean, quiet and comfortable but the short-staffing over the holidays resulted in a number of set-backs. When we pulled up to the hotel, nobody was present to welcome us or help us with our luggage. We waited for a few minutes before turning into the parking garage, where a valet graciously called upstairs to get a luggage cart for us. After about 20 minutes, we were finally able to secure one (without a bellman), but were then put in the awkward position of aggressively refusing the help of one of the managers who, upon seeing us pushing the cart ourselves into the lobby, suddenly appeared to graciously assist us. (Having done most of the work ourselves, we simply wanted to get checked in and settled without feeling obliged to tip another employee.) We appreciate that the hotel may have been busy, but we also wanted to take advantage of assistance while checking in. The process of getting settled in one's hotel room shouldn't be a chore, and we've found it to be streamlined at up-scale hotels. Shortly after checking in, we called downstairs from our room to get some more conditioner sent up. It took housekeeping two tries to send the correct product. Twice during our stay, we ordered in-room dining. Each time, something we ordered was accidentally left out and we needed to call downstairs again to get the item sent. In a "dormant time" - the last week of December - guests might have some patience for mistakes made by an overworked crew. Indeed our hearts go out to the employees working over the holidays. At the same time, though, every time we called down to the desk - for conditioner, room service, or even to help get us a cab to the airport - we were met with an operator whose tone and patience conveyed the attitude of somebody unhappy to be working that week. It doesn't make our vacation any more enjoyable to hear frustrated annoyance at every interval; a little Customer Service goes a long way, and a lack of it leaves a lasting impression. Finally, if you're thinking of enjoying a relaxing swim at the pool, consider yourself warned: the water is murky, and the room it's in is dark, dank and unkempt (there were wet towels strewn everywhere, with not a body in sight) - at least when we went, in the early afternoon. Furthermore, the acoustics are so bad in that room that anything more than a few people chatting will generate a cacophony that'll have you plugging your ears. If you're the type of person who can exercise and swim in solitude before sunrise, you might be able to take advantage of this 'spa.' If not, though, you'll need to make do with a soiled facility for your afternoon dip. The staff isn't particularly outgoing or polite, either. Dressed for the occasion, my family and I were directed to the pool upon arrival, but we then had to make a return trip to the front desk to ask for towels? On our most recent trip to Boston, we had the pleasure of staying at the InterContinental for a week. The rooms/surroundings were luxurious and the service staff was very accommodating. On the first morning, the concierge talked me through and gave me maps so that I could navigate the subway system or T as the locals call it. He even gave me a subway ticket that was good for 3 more days that one of their guests had no further use for since they left that morning! How nice was that? One less thing to worry about. You see I'd never done any subway by myself, but it was either the T or sit in my room all day! It was a great success and every morning, I'd go to the concierge and he would make marks on my maps for the day. Also, the staff gave us wonderful recommendations for places to eat. The beds and linens were oh so comfortable. As a matter of fact, I just got off the phone with the concierge there and he is going to call me back with the information on the linens so I might be able to purchase some for our home. Cool! If you walk out the back, you can see where the Boston Tea Party took place. Just an added bonus! read more

Of all the Intercontinental hotels I stayed at, this location was probably the least favorite. Rooms are a little outdated and plain. They have Keurig machines (a little outdated and mediocre tastings for the price you pay for the rooms). My floor was super loud. First night I stayed in 10th floor and second night moved to 6th. Both were noisy, couldn't sleep well due to noise level. Waters weren't complementary. I don't know, perhaps it's because we stayed at five star property in NY before checking into Intercontinental Boston. Lobby also seemed dark and a bit loud. The only thing I enjoyed about this Intercontinental was the location but that's about it. read more

Best hotel I've stayed in, Boston! The sunken tub, stand alone shower, amazing fitness center, the beautiful spa, the awesome cocktails at the bar... I mean, I had everything I wanted. I went to Boston for a work event and had to rush out after only one night. I was sad to leave because I had such a great experience. The front desk was friendly and accommodating, the fun was so nice that I was motivated to go back a second time. From the catered food to the knowledgeable valets, everything about my experience was positive. The bed was uber comfortable, the shower had great water pressure, and I was already trying to plan another stay. All hallmarks of an excellent hotel. Fabulous and fantastic are the two "f"s reserved for this hotel. After driving around aimlessly for 30 minutes because I got shafted by some soccer mom on Seaport and ended up driving into Chelsea, by the time I reached the Intercontinental, thanks to the great directions voiced by my friend John on the cell, I arrived at my destination, hungry and a bit disheveled as it was raining the moment I landed. Note to service is the key to perfecting excellent customer service, in addition to the Euro modernity that is lavished through out. I personally enjoy the simple lines and heavy use of dark wood furniture, so walking into the lobby was a breath of fresh air for me. The wait staff are impeccable and fine manners abound, as the checker apologized to me beforehand about taking a call while I was at the counter. Everywhere I walked and visited, I was associated as "Miss" here or "Miss" there. Men holding open doors and even pointing out areas that were marked with puddles near the valet section. "Miss, watch out for that puddle.." Where have all the Bostonian men been in my life?? I worked out at the gym only because it was so inviting and spa-like, that I did not have the feeling that this was a strenuous assignment. Rather, it felt relaxing to work out in an area so well placed and clean with Roman aesthetics in mind. Elliptical machines spaced widely apart and treadmills with metrosexual business men keeping up their physiques. I did my portion of the cardio and made a point to peek in the pool room. Gawgeous. Just Gawgeous. Room 652 was a large and spacious retreat for this non-high maintenance lady; but it came with two double beds, even though I had requested a king size. I mean, what was a single girl going to do with two doubles? Maybe I could do push ups or something, but I loved the room and the muted camel carpeting that sucked in my tired feet. Accents were with plum coloured Asian influences and modern brushed metal light fixtures and recessed lighting glowed. Loved the hallway made large by the gorgeous full length mirror at the end of the hall. The bathroom is my new boyfriend. Large. Flexible. And lots of options. Large raised tub for two people, nice sink with large counter area, and a beautiful glass encased shower I could practically live in. Stepping into it for my evening and morning shower made me feel as if at a spa. And what is more fitting, than leaving your new boyfriend, fully enveloped in one of their signature white terry cloth robes with the Intercontinental Boston stitched elegantly across my left shoulder. As I reviewed work emails, the phone rang to confirm my wake up call. I looked over, and the digital screen read my last name: ******, Welcome to the Intercontinental, Boston. Wishing you a pleasant stay here. As I got into the double bed by my lonesome, my head adjusted to the soft synthetic down pillows and the down comforter became instantly warming. I knew right away that sleep would not be a chore, since it was technically only 12:30 am on the West coast, but I did have to wake up in about 3 hours East coast time. Right. Check Out procedures are a bit neolithic since the flat screen LG tv refused to work with me, so I ended up calling the front desk downstairs where they immediately checked me out. The concierge saw me wandering around with my luggage searching for the parking elevator, which was discreetly hidden behind two ornate doors. "We do this on purpose, miss," he motioned, smiling, "so to test your cognizant abilities." His Boston accent made it more appealing so I laughed. Wow. I am in love. And in love with my new boyfriend that comes complete with a door I can close firmly behind me with digital instructions to Not Disturb. Great location as it is along the Waterfront, easy walk into Chinatown, and the North End as well as the touristy areas of Fanueil and Newbury. I have found my new home away from home, and have decided to come back for a Friday evening stay before I hit Harvard Square the next morning for some coffee before the students stir from the busy night before. read more

My stays in Boston are usually in a hotel in Copley. I decided to venture out of my comfort zone and try the Waterfront. The InterContinental is a modern hotel with easy access from the South Station of the Red Line. Room - 4.5 stars - very nice rooms with nice views. Bathrooms are really nice with separate huge tub and huge shower. Staff - 5 stars - concierge is helpful in planning all our daily adventures into the city. Great recommendations on must see places Club Intercontinental - 5 stars - upgraded rooms on the 12th floor get daily breakfast, snacks and drinks throughout the day, and hors duerves that can serve as a full dinner (sandwiches, hot treats, salads, and fruit). I like to choose the room upgrades when offered by hotels. It's a nice convenience, even if you don't use it. We haven't tried the restaurants on site, but they look pretty good. We wanted to try Sushi Teq, but unfortunately they aren't open for lunch on Saturdays. read more

Beautiful hotel, staff are very friendly and efficient, cleanliness, superb service, overall every part of this hotel amazing. Inilta, desk supervisor is professional and always ready to help and accommodate the guest. Roj, front desk agent also very pleasant and happy guy. Our four days of breakfast at the restaurant was amazing the food and service, ANY the server made it more enjoyable and likes to please very happy person. Me, my daughter, and my grandson just returned from a 1-night stay. Sorry that I had to give only 3 stars, but considering the price of everything ($30 resort fee for pool which was small and crowded, a room service "delivery fee"(?) of $6.50 along with 20% gratuity added, and $55 for parking). I want to add a few small details that would have made a difference. A print-out in the room with wi-fi password, paper and pen in the room, some brochures or a map so we didn't have to wait in line to ask the front desk. And please make sure water jug is refilled in lobby (empty twice and no one made a move to fill it. The front desk was average...no big welcome or smile, I had requested a room near the elevator since we had our pug with us, and she seemed surprised we had a dog as well as placing us clear down the end of hall from elevator (room 904) even though I repeated my request in person. OH, and room was small, but thumbs up on the bathroom...that was delightful. Will we stay again? No, sorry. $100/night for dog was a bit much on top of all the other fees that added up. read more

Fitness center has a nice pool as well as a series of high tech ellipticals, bikes & treadmills that have individualized fan with various levels to choose from. Service is very professional. A must: Detoxifying Body Wrap at their spa. After a workout you can spend some time opening your pores in their eucalyptus steam room. You will not want to leave this place! read more

I am so happy my company has a good rate here. It is a wonderful hotel. It is modern without being sterile. The staff are warm and welcoming, but not intrusive. The rooms are fairly large, especially those with king beds. The beds are good, if not great. The flat screen TVs are HUGE (55 inches?), have a very large channel selection and great pictures. The bathrooms are very large, as well, are paved with beige marble, have separate tubs and nicely sized stall showers and good lighting. The hotel is deceptively large. Walks from the elevators to rooms can be quite long. The lobby is very nice and has really comfortable seating areas of you have to wait for someone. The location is first rate, a short walk to most of the financial district and seaport areas. Rumbar has good drinks and the sushi place in the lobby looks like it is worth a try on a future visit. This hotel is beautiful and spacious. There's nothing resembling a boutique hotel here with its huge lobby and high ceilings but it is a very serviceable big hotel. The rooms aren't huge but they have the right amenities and the rooms are well laid out. I had a corner room and it had a nice view of a small park and a fire station. The bathroom was huge and it's always nice to have a bath tub. The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of a number of restaurants and cafes. The hotel rates are definitely pricey, though. read more

Destination Boston, stay at the Intercontinental! The Intercontinental was a on-the-go, one-week before arrival hotel. I got a great deal on Priceline slightly above one bill and I was highly optimistic about this place. A great location on Atlantic, a skip away from South Station, and on the water. To quote Paul M., "the rooms are rather sexy." Needless to say, it was not enough time to take full advantage of all the amenities, furniture, facilities in the room and hotel had to offer. My girlfriend and I did have an incredible time enjoying our time here. What a room! I would definitely do this place again. I just checked out of the Intercontinental today and I wish that I spent my one night in Boston at a different hotel. I'm not sure why Hotels.com lists this as a 5-Star hotel, because it felt more like a 3 to 4-Star. Check-in was wonderful as the lady at the front desk was very friendly and courteous. Sadly, that's about the end of our pleasant experience. 1) We paid extra to be upgraded to a room with the water view, but ended up being placed on a floor that smelled like dog urine. Upon stepping out of the elevator on the 10th floor, we were overwhelmed by the stench and it continued into the hallway leading to our room. I informed the hotel concierge, who assured me that he would send someone to take care of the stench, but we continued to smell the dog urine throughout our stay. 2) A while after we settled into our room, a pregnant hotel employee attempted to enter our room without permission. Thankfully, we had the door latch on as my boyfriend was hanging out in just his underwear. What kind of a hotel intrudes on their guests like this? It better be an emergency if you're going to barge into a guest's room. I opened the door to see why she was trying to enter our room, and her answer was, "Oh I just wanted to see if anyone was in the room." Wow. Ok. 3) The room decor was really dated, and the couch/ottoman placed in front of the bed was so filthy that neither of us dared to sit on it. For the price that they're charging, you can stay at an actual 5-Star hotel. Definitely go somewhere else. read more

If you request a waterfront room, and pay extra for it, be aware that your view could be of the hang out the window variety. We were there for an event. The front desk was unorganized. Check in was long. The rooms were nice, the bathrooms being the best part. The bed was very comfy.I ordered room service which took too long and the order was wrong. It was made right quickly though, so props to customer service. The hotel was a $17 with tip cab ride to the airport or a $30 uber ride. read more

High end, well located property on the Harbor. All the amenities were +++ and priced accordingly. Rooms are well appointed, shower is great and bed is comfy. The house bar is very expensive. The TVs are positioned so poorly no one can see them. We left to watch the end of the Cavs game and also to save alot of $ We joined the company club and that gave us free WiFi. You should do that. Three stars based on how good of a price you can find. We ended up getting a helluva deal for Boston, but if we had paid over $400 for this place, I would not have been pleased. The front desk staff was a bit mixed in personality, but while the lady who checked us in was wonderful, I wouldn't say anyone else was rude, just busy and trying to keep things moving. The lobby was beautiful, really nicely decorated for the holidays. The room was pretty decent. A nice view overlooking the park and some financial buildings. For some bizarre reason there is a big sliding half wall between the bathroom and bedroom, so supposing you are traveling by yourself, you could also have this view while sitting on the john, just FYI. Drain was clogged in the sink, one of the outlets in the bathroom didn't work, Jacuzzi looked pretty clean, but I can't bring myself to use one in a hotel, just can't do it. We were on the 4th floor and I have no idea what was above us, but it sounded like either a treadmill or a nightclub. Guessing the former since the "bump, bump, bump" that was pretty damn loud was going on at 7:30am. It did stop after 45 minutes or so, but it wasn't a pleasant awakening. Location's great, if you can get a decent deal it's worth it. Maybe avoid the 4th floor or ask what in the world is above it. read more

What a classy venue. I attended a good friend's wedding there and the space was gorgeous. The foods were exceptional and the surprise dessert station at the end was to die for!! read more

Stayed many times at this hotel and received l spa services and you will not be disappointed. Very elegant lobby with lots of seating/gathering options. Staff always helpful and the outdoor patio is really nice. The area is perfect with the ICA and harbor right there. Great area to walk around and explore. The rooms are great and very clean. Have had in room spa services which I recommend! Treat yourself!! But have also gone down to the spa to receive which is nice too. read more
