Do not use! awful customer service I went in there on a Saturday afternoon at 3:30pm note they close at 5:00pm. The girl working ignored my husband and I. They were cleaning the floors the only thing she did say to us is be careful not to slip on the wet floors. We looked around for 10 minutes and walked out as we were walking out she said to us " You don't have any questions?" I said you didn't look like you wanted to help us, her reply was well it is the end of the day and we are cleaning up. What!!! I said it's 3:30 you close at 5:00. I was just moving in to a new apt and decided I wanted to put up some amazing window shades. I found this firm in a search and was so excited because it seemed to be the perfect place to give me what I was envisioning. I called and spoke with 2 very helpful young ladies who set me up with an appt right away. I was told I would be meeting with someone who I believe was the owner. I couldn't wait to get started and have someone make my vision a reality. I had an exact shade I wanted and just needed a bit of help, obviously I couldn't do it on my own. I did have my appt and almost immediately the guy tried to change my whole vision. He didn't even want to help me with the shades I had in mind, but instead tried to persuade me into looking at something I had no interest in at a much higher price. I felt so undefeated and that there was no winning with this guy. So I hurried the process along, took the information given, left and never looked back. I wound up going to my local Home Depot, found exactly what I wanted at an amazing price, they even set up a professional installation and offered me a 1yr warranty on my order! I do not recommend this place or the guy, who again was supposed to be the owner. Very poor people skills, seemed very money hungry and did not have my interest or my vision in mind at all! It took me a long time to post this, as generally I do not give businesses poor reviews, particularly during the pandemic. But, we spent a VERY huge some of money with this company, and got badly ripped off. About 10 years ago we had Interior Motif put 8 window coverings over the 4 windows of our apartment, plus 2 valances and 2 additional glass door coverings, and almost every window covering has had to be replaced at least once. Every time one of their technicians came it was another $100.00 plus. They also didn't tell us, when we initially bought, that we'd have to go to the top of each window to replace batteries when the blackout shades stopped working. Every time we replace the batteries, the shades don't work and it's another service call, and usually we're told the product has to be sent back to the factory. We don't know what quality we bought (i.e. was the product new or used for demonstration, etc.) as a result we have to now replace the shades because we are tired of throwing good money after bad. read more

She went beyond her duties to help us get replacement blinds. Hunter Douglas lost our blinds and then weeks later found them only to say they discontinued the fabric and could no longer repair them. I found Interior Motif because they are a Hunter Douglas authorized seller, and I was considering Hunter Douglas for 6 windows in my 1 bedroom apartment. The company was very responsive when I called, showing up before a business trip within one day of my inquiry, and Stephen gave me an initial price for 6 shades and motorization that was around 10K. The quote was a scrawl on a notepad, and never presented as more than that. Subsequently, in Miami, I looked into solar shades, and called Stephan to inquire about them. He sent me a photo of an apartment in Hoboken with solar shades, then called a couple of days later to say that he thought it would be around $800 per room for the shades, and that he wanted to send out his team to remeasure, and would I provide a $500 deposit. I gave him my card number, but later had second thoughts. What business asks you to give $500 towards a price for a quote they have not delivered. When I received the credit card authorization the following day, I canceled the project with them in email. Never having received a firm quote, not having authorized the charge, and not even having had the "free measurement" their site advertised, they never returned the "deposit". Again, mind you, they had never so much as provided a quote or measured, much less ordered. I will also be reporting this company to the BBB. Stay away! read more

BEWARE. Would never recommend this company. Ariel kind of knows closets but he does not know about blinds. He refers to the catalogue whenever we asked a question. We were more knowledgeable than he was after ten minutes in the showroom. He was trying to push the product he knew about vs what was best for the size windows and exposure of our home. He was very condescending and dismissive. And we twice caught him making up answers to questions that we later found out were completely incorrect. I asked if certain products were available he said "yes" and then when he explored further in the sample books, it was not. He just pointed to things in the showroom vs. showing us the available products that you meet our needs. He wasn't able to explain any pros/cons. His favorite response was "we can do anything you want". What we wanted was someone to understand the preferences we shared at the onset, the limitations (there were several given window length) and then recommend and explain options. He could not and he did not. And he was so off-putting and dismissive with us. He should stick to selling closets...measure walls and design it on an Ipad. His approach was very arrogant. When comparing notes around the neighborhood, others have had very similar experiences. And remarked how they are busy trolling for more business with neighbors vs. focusing on the conversation with the potential client standing in front of him. Stay away from this company. There are lots of other options to work with and support kind, considerate and knowledgeable businesses. read more

I moved a year and a half ago in to an apartment that has motorized windows shades and they began giving me a hard time so I called Motif for service. I was charged $85 upfront for the consultation; the batteries were then changed and they started to work perfect again. Two weeks ago, I guess it was time to change the batteries again so I did it myself. However, this time didn't work so I call Motif once again. I explained over the phone that it has to be the batteries again so I asked how much it was going to be and I was told $85 to $125. I didn't have many options, so I booked the appointment. The technician came, changed the batteries, and the work was done but I was charged $125 just for changing the batteries of 4 windows! I love to have my motorized shades, but the cost of services is ridiculous. read more

Terrible service from Interior Motif. Will never recommend and certainly will not use again. Instead, go to The Curtain in Palisades Park. I wish I had. I subsequently got a quote for same product which came in 26% less than Interior Motif. In short, owner measured window incorrectly so when blinds were being installed 5.5 weeks after I ordered them, one of three did not fit. That's bad enough. But during the following two weeks, the owner and his staff consistently over promised then under delivered finally installing the missing blind on Thursday July 3. The owner promised to send me a $100 to make-up for their poor service. He never did. Owner could not understand why I was upset. No apologies for wasting my precious vacation time, having to chase him down to learn status, having to wait around while store staff figured out how to create payment receipt and so much more. His installer said that it's been a growing problem that the woman in the store schedules installations for time blocks when it's likely the product will not yet be available. Overpriced, late arrival and bad customer service. Ariel pressured us to sign a contract 3 months before our home was completed to then hear the shades were on back order and not ready when we moved in. we didn't get them until 3 weeks after moving in. Also, the prices are highly marked up, and they do not price match. Go to City Window in Hoboken, you can get better service and prices on the same shades. The closets were also installed wrong and covering panels needed for wifi. We had to fight with Stephan the owner to re-adjust them. Overall bad experience would NEVER recommend. read more

We had a great experience working with Stephan at Interior Motif. We are the type to shop around especially when are are unsure of what product to purchase. Stephan made us feel comfortable from the start and never rushed us to make a decision. He presented us with many options and tried to provide as many visuals so that we can ''picture" the end product. He also set realistic timelines and worked best to meet ours. This was very helpful. When it was time for installation, we had two members of his team do the work, Juan, team lead, and his assistant. Juan was professional, fast and experienced. He had been working with Stephan for over a decade. He essentially did the installation himself - he was so fast. He also took the time in the end to complete the steaming of our curtains - which showed he cared about the finished product. From a price perspective, Stephan is not the cheapest. But he was good a working with us to make our ideal budget. He also had payment options that we took advantage of. I would highly recommend Stephan and Juan. After traveling the world and dealing with several similar companies, I have to admit that I am quite disappointed with the service we received. The price is extremely high and timeline very long (which apparently is normal in the US so fair enough). We are brand new in the US so after living in our apartment for 2 months without curtains, we were looking forward to receiving them. 2 days before the set date, we received a phone call saying that the master bedroom curtains were not the expected fabric. We had to wait further to receive them. When we finally got the curtains, we experienced some problems with them and needed to owner to come and fix them. We were never offered any discount for the inconvenience (they had to come 3 times to our house) nor any apology. When I asked, I was rudely asked: why?? And was told they went above and beyond to get the right fabric. I don't think that the customer should be penalized because they are dealing with the wrong suppliers. I wouldn't recommend the company. I can see great reviews so I'm glad that most people are happy. I guess we were some of the unfortunate ones. read more

Almost 10 years ago Stephan did my motorized silhouettes. He was great to work with and did a beautiful job. So, naturally when we just moved, Interior Motif was the first and only place I called. This time I needed some closet work done. Ariel came out and made some recommendations for our existing closets. In the process talking me out of spending unnecessary money in redoing what was there and we just added poles. He also made a great recommendation of a contractor to close off an area above a closet (Sheetrock, trim, and doors) to match what was already there.
