(Some companies only quote what they charge for the first half hour and every hour thereafter). They had an opening that afternoon and came on time. They fixed my outlets in less than 15 minutes. They were very courteous, even asked if they should take their shoes off in the house. They explained what they were doing. I was impressed with their efficiency. My electric range wasn't working, and after spending a couple hundred with appliance repair, they ultimately decided it was a home electrical issue which they couldn't deal with. So I called Interwest on the weekend and got the messaging service because the Interwest guys take weekends off. (Good for them!) Dean from Interwest still called me like 5 minutes later, and we arranged a Monday appointment. He was there on time, and was like a bloodhound tearing into my breaker box. This is my second time using Interwest Electric. My wife and I bought a flipped house in La Mesa in 2016, and the first time we hired Dean and team, they did a phenomenal job replacing and upgrading our fire hazard of a electric panel. They did a remarkable job cleaning things up and ensuring everything was in order. Everyone was incredible friendly, easy to work with, on time and efficient. True professionals. This winter, in order to ensure our new insulation wasn't going to be a fire hazard with old wiring, we asked Interwest to come out to replace our wiring in the attic and walls. Dean blocked out 3 or 4 days to get the job done. The guys have been here a day and a half and are already finished. They identified the wiring that needed to be replaced, identified the stuff that was still safe and working great, and offered to install some new outlets and make our old house more functional. Tried for someone who looked nearby and had good reviews (so this is also a good review of Yelp itself for an old person). Interwest came exactly when they said they would and fixed things. Reasonable price. Knowledgeable person. Gave me extra advice. Were happy to come do a little job which is probably why the contractor never came as promised. Our local high school wanted to reinstall some outdoor speakers for the baseball field. Very difficult job that required not only electrical skills but also some good old fashion horse sense. The speakers were being mounted 30 feet up on poles and the hundreds of feet of previous wires were 25+ years old. Dean's crew were absolutely wonderful. They worked together as a team to accomplish a very difficult project. The job was finished on time and exactly within budget. I called Interwest Electric to check and fix electrical fluctuations in my tenant's house near El Cajon. They sent a guy that spent two hours without finding or fixing anything. He just replaced few circuit breakers and other components without fixing the electric fluctuations. He called me and said the problem is from SDG&E not from your end. The tenant called SDG&E and they sent a maintenance guy. SDG&E maintenance person found the source of the problem right away. The problem causing the electric fluctuations was in the main electric box (partially corroded neutral lug). I called the guy that Interwest Electric sent and informed him of the problem. He came and spent additional 2 hours just to change the lug that the SDG&E guy mentioned. That lug cost less than $5 and it was the cause of the electric fluctuations. Interwest electric sent to me a bill $379 which included the 4 hours labor and the price of all parts that the guy replaced (even though only the lug needed replacement). So, they charged me for the guy's incompetence (labor and parts). Anyone that do not need to have an electrician troubleshoot problems by randomly replacing good parts and charging you for the time and the cost of the parts, better look somewhere else for a competent electrician that should ensure the part is bad before replacing it. The only good thing I can say about that company, is that they sent an electrician the same day I needed one. read more
