Instructors John and Ute presenting me my P1 patch after passing my rank test. :)

Coming from someone who never thought they would willingly go to the gym three days a week, Invictus Krav Maga has truly changed my life for the better! I began studying here after stumbling on an IG ad having never taken a martial art before, thinking it would be a good way to get some exercise while also learning ways to defend myself, and I was proven absolutely correct. Every instructor I have worked with has been very knowledgeable, encouraging, and you can really see their overall passion for empowering you to do better. Over the six months I've been with Invictus, I've watched myself not only become more invested in my personal health and wellbeing than I ever was in the past, but also develop a newfound self-confidence and self-reliance I never knew I had. Thanks Invictus!!

Instructor John was amazing! Funny and great music! Made me feel comfortable and safe!

Ask the Community - Invictus Krav Maga

Do the Krav Maga classes help you get in shape?

Hi Mo... The first 15 - 20 minutes of our classes feature physical exercise to help people get into shape. In addition, our techniques are dynamic and provide extra cardio training. We believe that self-defense is for everyone, not just folks who…

Do you have a class that my 11 year old son could attend?

We have kids classes for the following 3 age groups... 5-7 years old, 8-10 years old and 11-14 years old. Minors 15 and older train in the adult class.

My 10 year old granddaughter watches ninja warrior on TV and would love to take training. We live in Poway (zip 92064 near San Diego) does anyone know where she can get this training? Thank you…

Hi Nikki! Thanks for contacting us. Unfortunately, we do not provide what you are looking for... we are a self-defense academy that specializes in Krav Maga. However, that said, I did a quick Google search for you and this link provides a list of…

I feel very safe there no matter what time of day or night I go--members can only enter with a FOB and the door remains closed and locked at all times. Smaller than other big-name gyms, but I really like it that way because of the cleanliness, security, and super comfortable workout environment there. There are plenty of machines and equipment to work on your fitness goals, whether they're for general fitness, physical therapy, or hard-core bodybuilding.

However, I really wish Anytime Fitness Poway would reconsider the cleaning products and fragrances being used throughout the gym. When you walk in, you are immediately hit with an overwhelming mix of strong cleaning chemicals and synthetic fragrances. Between the cleaning products, heavily fragranced wipes, and products like Febreze, the smell is difficult to ignore, especially when you're breathing heavily during a workout. I completely understand that a gym needs to be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized. However, it is 2026, and there are so many effective fragrance-free and lower-toxicity alternatives available. There is also a growing body of research and legitimate health concerns surrounding unnecessary exposure to all these chemicals found in fragranced cleaning products. These chemicals have raised concerns regarding reproductive health, hormone disruption, and cancer risk. What I find especially ironic is seeing "Healthy 24/7" on the walls while being surrounded by such strong synthetic fragrances. People come to the gym because they are trying to improve their health, so creating a cleaner indoor environment seems like it should be part of that mission too. I've also noticed cleaning staff wearing masks while using these products, which makes me even more concerned about what employees and members are regularly breathing in. Please consider switching to fragrance-free, safer cleaning alternatives and eliminating products like Febreze from the gym. "Fragrance" on an ingredient label can represent numerous toxic ingredients, and many people are sensitive to strongly scented products even beyond concerns about these chemicals. Again, the equipment, staff, and lack of overcrowding are all huge positives. I just hope Anytime Fitness will take indoor air quality and unnecessary fragrance exposure as seriously as the other aspects of creating a healthy environment, for both members and employees.

The progress I've made has been remarkable, and I can honestly say that joining the personal training program has been one of the best decisions I've made for my health. When I started, I was dealing with weak muscles, excess weight, knee discomfort, and very little confidence in the gym. I was hesitant to try many exercises and often worried about making my knees worse. Austin consistently adapted workouts based on how my body responded, gradually building strength while respecting my limitations. As I improved, he appropriately increased the challenge and introduced more advanced exercises, helping me gain confidence rather than just follow instructions. The progress I've made has exceeded my expectations. I've become significantly stronger, reduced body fat and inches, improved my balance and functional strength, and regained confidence in my ability to exercise safely despite my knee issues. I can now perform exercises I never imagined I'd be able to do. Perhaps his greatest accomplishment as a trainer is that he gave me the knowledge and confidence to train independently. That, to me, is the mark of an excellent trainer. Austin strikes a good balance between encouraging you and pushing you beyond what you think you're capable of, while still paying attention to form and how your body is responding. He celebrates progress, explains the purpose behind exercises, and genuinely wants his clients to succeed. My husband has also had an excellent experience training with him, and we've both benefited from his coaching. We highly recommend Austin to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, dedicated, and motivating trainer. We wish him continued success in his career.

Coaches Donavan, Fidel, and Rebecca were super understanding with my rehab process and made sure that I had alternate exercise while my back was healing. It really is an outstanding gym with a great culture. The place is super accepting and supportive of everyone. Original review: A gym for people who don't like the gym. I am over 50 and in acceptable but not amazing shape. I walk 3mi a day but I knew I needed to supplement. Heard good things about OTT and took a class. Here are the key points: - They use tech to monitor your heart rate so you get an optimal workout. - The coaches recognize that some percentage of the work is just showing up. They respect that you made the effort and are very supportive and helpful. They push you but not in an uncomfortable way. - Alternate options for exercises are offered if you need any accommodation. - Most important, there is 100% acceptance of everyone, no matter where you are in your journey. Some are trying to lose weight, some are rehabbing injury, some are athletes that have done 100s of classes. There is NO judgement and it is NOT a competition, which is refreshing in this day and age. - You don't have to think. They tell you what to do. And there are monitors that show animations of the exercises. Again, not a gym person, just tell me what to do in a fashion that I won't hurt myself and that works for me! - It is all a bit overwhelming at first. Stay with it and like anything, it becomes more familiar. Things switch up quickly sometimes and I have to wear earplug because the music is too loud for me but after several classes, I got the hang of it. - Coaches and staff all have a great attitude. Over the years, it's been a reliable place to train, and the Carmel Mountain location continues that tradition. The employees here are consistently friendly, respectful, and welcoming, and the facility is generally clean and well-maintained. It's a comfortable gym with a positive atmosphere, whether you're stopping in for a quick workout or spending a couple of hours there. My only criticism is the layout and equipment selection. The space could be utilized much more efficiently, and the organization of the equipment feels a bit scattered. There are also several older machines that could benefit from being replaced with newer, more versatile equipment that better reflects today's training standards. With a few updates and a smarter floor plan, this location could be one of the best in the area. Overall, I'm still a big fan of both this location and the 24 Hour Fitness franchise as a whole. The staff, cleanliness, and overall experience keep me coming back, and I'd happily recommend it to anyone looking for a dependable gym in the Carmel Mountain area.

The outside setup is pretty rough too, so much wasted empty space they could be using. The space has so much potential but just seems like the management doesn't want to put in the effort to remodel like the Carmel mountain one down the street, the UTC one, or the Balboa one. Probably the worst one out of the 4 I just mentioned. However, because of its unfavorable status, it's actually one of the less crowded ones so I guess that's a plus. Closes really early too, 8 PM on weekends for a 24 hour feels pretty bad. Luckily, weights weigh the same anywhere so you can still get a good workout in even with the low quality of equipment.
