This was literally the only spot we could find that was open as late as it was (midnight). Great pizza, music, and staff. We were welcomed in and the wait staff took our order right away. I was in the process of writing this while sitting there waiting. Stopped for a local bite before 3 hr ride back home and it's now 50 mins later and still not food. Ordered cold ahi tuna sandwich, Ioanni's club and chicken tender basket. Maybe 10-12 people in here right now. Was good but nothing I would be willing to wait 30 mins or more for. Server didn't seem to friendly. No attempts made to tell us why it was taking so long to get our food. Sorry just not the kind of service I would expect from a local spot. read more

I like a good sports bar.... but I love a great local sports bar. Locally owned and operated that has been in Morehead for years, grown, and even moved to a larger location in recent years. It's still got a great feel with plenty of TV's but good food. You can get a great lasagna here and at the same time have people get wings, salads and philly sandwiches that are equally amazing. The service is usually pretty spot on but you have to remember when they get busy, it may take a bit longer (not anything crazy). This is definitely somewhere you can take your family, take your friends, or go drink. read more

We are regulars in Morehead City, as we escape here often for short weekend getaways as a family. Having never heard of Ioanni's, but seeing good reviews, we decided to try it. We didn't scroll down far enough. You see, if you avoid the mistake we made and you DO scroll down, you'll see that they used to have good service, good food, etc. but something happened. Who knows what. But something DID happen. My family of 5 found themselves killing time with pics, selfies, watching tv shows.... and I mean killing LOTS of time. If you bring kids, don't put on a tv show, put on a movie. We waited a LONG time. Whatever. When the food came, the two little kids ate their pizza, and they were fine. The other three dishes were just awful. Alfredo as bland as it could possibly be. The famed Ioanni's Burger as overcooked and dry as possible. Just awful. I was pining for my frozen Costco burgers at home. As for the Alfredo sauce, which was "explained" to us was homemade... just drive by, head to Food Lion and grab the Prego. Way better. Look I'm not a regular reviewer, and I'm no food critic. But if I cooked for my profession, my livelihood, maybe I'd taste it before sending it out. Maybe I'd make sure it tasted like *something*, *anything* that someone might like. The chef should turn in his apron, Masterchef style. And if you read this, let me help: Butter Cream Parmesan Cheese Salt Start there. I'll never know if this helped, because I'll never, EVER be back. And you shouldn't either. Good place to have a cold beer, and bar food. Service is good and the food is solid...don't expect anything fancy, but that why you go here. It's a family run joint...and it's good to see them in there day after day. So go support them, while drinking a cold beer...and eating some decent wings. Great place... nice and neat on the inside. Service was great! Apps came out quick. The rest took a little longer than expected to arrive but they were packed so no big deal. I ordered the hummus with pita... it was good. I also ordered the gyro with onion rings... also very good. I also got a chance to try the Manicotti and the blackened Mahi. After a long day at the beach we weren't having much luck finding a place to eat. We came across this place since it was open later than most restaurants in the area. The menu was huge! I stopped by to check this place out. It has a "dive bar" feel which is okay for a "burger and fries" type of place. I sat at the bar. The 2 guys behind the bar were a little rough and it took about five minutes to get my order, but that's ok for a place like this. I ordered loaded nachos and a mushroom swiss burger. The nachos took around 15 minutes to come out. In my professional opinion anything "cold or fried" should be out in 5 minutes, but no longer than 10. The nachos came out and were pretty good. Large portion and nice toppings. I am a fan of the nachos. The burger was average or just above. Overall, it is a good place for some bar food. Do not expect to get 5 star service. But then again, as I said, it is kind of a dive bar feel. Not too bad. Rough around the edges, but not too bad. read more

Came on a Sunday when they make their homemade gravy and it was delicious! Ordered the gravy cheese fries and almost licked the plate clean it was so good. I also ordered the open-faced turkey sandwich which was nothing spectacular, but at least it came with more gravy. We had a large party that included a number of children and they welcomed us and never made us feel like the children were unwelcome or a bother in any way. This is our kind of place. We started with the loaded nachos, which were probably the worst part of dinner. They were ok, store bought chips etc. We got the bourbon wings and a small pizza for dinner. The wings we yummy, with a slight crisp. The pizza is made on a home made dough. We had half pepperoni and half meatball ( my personal favorite). The meatballs tasted fresh and homemade, the only thing I wish was that they used a cheese blend but that is a personal preference. Impossible to leave a review when after an hour of waiting for our food we were told that our order had not even been started. They were out of a lot of stuff on the menu on a weekend during peak summer season. When we asked to speak to a manager another waitress came out because there was not a manager there and they were trying to get them on the phone. We were told they were short staffed. Clearly there is a communication problem at this restaurant, and as a business owner myself, if they were short staffed you better believe I would have been up there myself making sure my customers were taken care of. We come to Morehead City often & know a lot of people in the area and will never recommend or eat at this restaurant ever again. After reading other reviews it seems that this is a common theme & the lack of management that is extremely evident is truly sad & disappointing. I would hate for this to happen to other people that are hungry, in a hurry and have to leave because even after 15 minutes of going back and forth trying to get a manager, our food STILL was not started and we were pretty much told we should just leave. Our waitress was really sweet & apologetic and clearly frustrated at the lack of organization and management. Get your act together. read more

Came here with a group of 8 on a Thursday night, I didn't find it particularly crowded. We waited quite awhile for our food to come out, and when it didn't only half of it was ready. The first set of plates to come out were some wings, shrimp burger and a tuna steak, all were mediocre at best and came out cold. At least the other half of the order was hot when it came out.
