After I got over my amazement of their food inventory, I ordered a sub sammy - made by a guy who looks like my great uncle - turkey, pastrami, provolone, mayo, lettuce & tomato on fresh baked Italian roll - to die for. This is a really nice little shop and deli. I wish I was able to eat freely, because their prepared freezer meals look delicious. I popped in here for a Caprese Salad. My food allergies make eating out really difficult and I thought this would be a safe meal. What I received was certainly not a Caprese Salad, and the included salad dressing was surprisingly low quality and not something I can eat. What I got was a Caprese-inspired Salad. The oils that the mushrooms and artichokes were soaked in thankfully flavored up the salad just enough after cutting it all up. Online they show an authentic Caprese Salad, so I was quite confused. I was able to find some potato chips made with olive oil instead of the sunflower seed oil that I'm allergic to. Those were a nice, tasty surprise. The guy running the register was really friendly. What an awesome experience here last week! It was too hot to cook and too hot to grill so my son and I stopped by for some premade meals from their fridge. We did some spaghetti and meatballs, a shrimp dish and a meat lasagna. We all enjoyed all the meals especially the shrimp one that went a little heavy on the garlic. The staff and friendly and even gave a cookie to my son and knew to ask me first. Well done and can't wait to head back soon enough. read more

I miss my Italian markets up North. The stores in Texas just don't have the choices you want and can't seem to find many of their items that I wanted anywhere in Texas. This is such a great little store that has everything your heart desires if you are a chef with specific ingredients!! With that said, I've a plane to catch and couldn't take the store. I settled for an Italian Sandwich from their Deli counter!! The people working the counter were amazing, it was sweet to be able to grab that sandwich and site and enjoy at their tables. This is the best place to get a sandwhich! Not only their sandwiches but the desserts and ready to heat meals are amazing. The guy who owns it is funny and we always get great service. We were shocked and disgusted by the high salt content in all of the meals - I mean so much salt that they were literally inedible; it was as if someone had played a practical joke on us. A touch of New York in Largo. I'm truly blessed to have Ippolito's walking distance from my home. After 60 years in New England and NYC I missed this home style deli. They have a great selection of sandwiches, salads, drinks and holiday treats. They also have a great selection of trays for parties and gatherings. Ippolito's food is authentic, hand made and delicious. The premade items in the refrigerated section are so convenient to take home and heat up. Ah, the lasagna! And all the other Italian specialties. So yummy. The foot long sandwiches and subs that are made at the back of the shop are two meals in one because they are so loaded with yummy meats, cheeses, veggies, condiments but you can only eat half the sandwich at a time. You can't go wrong with the sub of the day or any sub for that matter. It would be nice if the food in the deli counter was labeled a little better so you knew what the items are and the prices. The store really isn't laid out that well. Sometimes it's a bit confusing where to go next to order and select and pay for food. I've never given much thought to deli's until I saw an Italian deli in St. Petersburg here on Yelp. I thought about going there because I love Italian food. Getting a ready made meal or two that I could heat up at home sounded great to me. Then while I was running errands I saw Ippolito's, so I decided to save myself a drive to St. Pete and try Ippolito's instead. I found a number of ready made, Italian dishes in their refrigerator. The prices seemed fair for the portion sizes. I went with the lasagna, which would make 2-3 meals for me. Sadly, I didn't care for it. I think that this store would benefit by the layout redone. When you walk in the door, you don't see any of the employees or the deli counter where they run the business and have the cash register. I was bothered by the fact that when I was in the store there were several employees behind the deli counter and none of them were wearing masks. There was a sign at the entryway asking that everyone coming in wear a mask. When I was ready to check out, the employee had to go get his mask before he rang me up. Again he was behind a deli counter, surrounded by food! I felt uncomfortable that the people responsible for handling food weren't taking all of the safety protocols that have been recommended by the government. (I admit that I don't keep up with all of the every changing laws, but right now we need to do what we can to protect each other.) I don't plan to go back to Ippolito's. read more

The most ignorant business owners I've ever come across!! Last time we went there the lunch meat was spoiled thought we would give them another chance never again! Update First of all he wasn't picking his teeth he was chewing on a straw waiting for you to ring us up when you were so rude when we asked if you made the bread and you were very rude to your own help and told him don't tell them anything. It was very odd what went on in your store. I certainly will never come into to your store you don't need to ask me not to.As I said in my review we had bad lunch meat it was sopressata. This place came highly recommended so I just ordered an Italian Sub. First they pressed it without my asking. Took so long to get it I took it as is. Just got home and decided to cut a 2.5 inch section to taste it well as the picture shows there's no meat or cheese on the portion I cut off. I'm afraid to go and check the rest of the sandwich. Not "impressed"!! I just cut off another section of sub to try and it had meat in it!! Pressing a sandwich with lettuce, tomato and oil/vinegar was absolutely the wrong thing to do. I thought I'd never have good hot sausage after moving to Florida three ago. I've scoped out numerous stores only to end up with greasy tasteless sausage after cooking it. Not today! So not to be disappointed again, I bought two links. That was a mistake as the sausage was tasty, spicy, non-greasy and browned nicely. With sauteed onions, peppers and garlic served with this hot sausage, it was spectacular. I highly recommend it. I will buy the hot sausage again and look forward to trying their other products too. They have a deli and take-out food as well as bake goods, and a wide variety of Cento and Marconi products. Nice selection too of fresh and boxed pasta. Love this little Deli. When we make pizza we make a special trip for their homemade Italian sweet sausage. When not in the mood to make the crust we get their dough, which is excellent. It's also like a mini store with speciality items from tomato sauces, peppers, flour, pasta etc. Good selection of sandwiches, cookies, olives, artichoke hearts and many others which all looked delicious. Best Italian market in the area if your on lunch and want something simply delicious try any one of there cold or hot sandwiches. They also have an array of sides, pastas, spicy peppers/jardinera. If your looking for a home cooked Italian dinner the owner makes tons of meals ready to throw in the oven. My personal favorite is the chicken piccata how ever I have a hard time just getting one item so I usually get a lasagna or shrimp scampi to go with it and loaf of homemade garlic bread.
