The empanadas with homemade chimichurri were flavorful and their steak was soft and well prepared.

To end the night before we headed off to dinner, we stopped by The Semi- Tropic bar for drinks. The parking situation was difficult to say the least-- there is no street parking or parking lot. And the neighborhood behind the bar is filled with park cars. We were lucky and parked at a parking lot that was for the surrounding business (so sorry to the pizza/ weed shop!). We arrived at around 6:30 PM so it wasn't too busy. We were greeted by one of the servers and she gave us options to either sit at a lounge table area or hightop tables. We opted for the hightop tables because we knew we weren't staying there for long. The server was friendly and patient as we looked over the menu for drinks. I've been sober for about a year so I only had water, my boyfriend ordered a Naoshima Dream, his cousin ordered a Mango Cart, and his cousin's girlfriend ordered a Lemon Drop Martini. The bar was super cute and hipster! I honestly would have loved going to this bar back when I used to drink. It's dimly lit, had a vintage 20's speakeasy feel to it and the music was a vibe. I'd recommend coming here for a little date with your partner or even coming with a group of friends. My boyfriend had been here once before and he said the food was really good and affordable. He had a panini and said for bar food it was a 10/10. We waited maybe like 10 minutes for our drinks to come, we were having such a fun time chatting and enjoying the environment that it didn't feel long at all. My boyfriend, his cousin, and his cousin's girlfriend really enjoyed their drinks. They said the drinks tasted "light" insinuating that there was barely any alcohol in it. Don't let the taste fool you, after finishing half of their drink there were full of smiles, giggles, and had a great buzz going. The prices here were all pretty fair for the cost and quality of the drinks. Would defintely recommend coming here for drinks and dinner for a date night or a night out with friends!

This was my second visit to Pijja Palace, and overall I'd definitely come back…read more We had a 6:45 reservation but arrived around 6:30. It took a few minutes before we were greeted by the host stand, but once seated things moved along smoothly. We were heading to a show afterward, so we weren't planning on spending the entire evening there. Our server was friendly and nice throughout the meal. One challenge was that communication was a little difficult at times. Since Pijja Palace is also a lively sports bar, it can get pretty loud, and we occasionally had trouble hearing each other. Because of the noise, it was a little harder to ask detailed questions about the menu and get guidance on some of our choices. We shared the BBQ wings, lamb burger, and a pizza. Choosing the pizza was honestly the hardest part. I was deciding between the Chutney pizza and the Green Tikka Masala pizza and asked for recommendations. Our server shared his personal favorite, but I was hoping for a little more detail about the flavor differences. My boyfriend wanted something with meat, and we almost ordered the spicy pepperoni pizza. I really wanted him to try one of Pijja Palace's Indian-inspired pizzas since that was one of the highlights from my first visit. The BBQ wings were excellent and a must-order. Honestly, the pickled carrots and celery that come with them deserve their own shoutout. They're so good that I asked for extra. Just note that there is an additional charge for more. I skipped the samosas this time because I remembered them being a little too spicy for me during my first visit. We also passed on the pasta since we didn't have room, and while it was decent last time, it wasn't something I felt I needed to order again. I ended up ordering the Green Tikka Masala pizza. It was good, but personally I still prefer the Chutney pizza. The Green Tikka wasn't quite as flavorful as I remembered the Chutney version being, and despite the name, it wasn't particularly green. Of course, taste is subjective, and our server actually preferred the Green Tikka, so this may simply come down to personal preference. Next time I'd definitely order the Chutney pizza again. One small disappointment was that we weren't able to add pepperoni to one of the specialty pizzas. Not a huge deal, but it would have been nice to customize it a bit. For dessert, I tried the banana caramel toffee soft serve. Unfortunately, it was a little too sweet for me and I didn't finish it. I also found it a bit pricey for soft serve. Last time, however, I had an orange-and-vanilla flavor that was tangy, refreshing, and absolutely delicious, so I think dessert is very flavor-dependent here. One tip for fellow diners: if you use the InKind app to pay, you can earn credits back--sometimes up to 20%--to use at participating restaurants in the future, which is a nice bonus. My boyfriend thought the vibe was a little too hipster for his taste, but I actually enjoy the atmosphere. Pijja Palace continues to be one of the more unique dining spots in LA, and despite a few minor service hiccups and menu choices I'd make differently next time, I'm glad we came back. My recommendations: order the wings, don't skip the pickled carrots and celery, and if you're debating between pizzas, my vote goes to the Chutney pizza. I'll definitely be back before another nearby show. I asked if our pizza was right because I don't see any green tikki masala sauce on it and they said yes.
