Not only did we have to fight with the bartender to fix the prices for happy hour she said no there is no happy hour which is listed on menu. Her regular customers got crazy with us! First time coming here! It was Thursday night and they have a live DJ. My friend got a vodka soda and I got the Mexican candy shot. Both were really good. The service was great and so was the music they were playing. It's pretty small in there but there was enough space to dance and all. read more

Their weekday bouncer has denied me entry multiple times over the years because "I look too gay". I've never had any issue there when he's not working, but the bar staff all vehemently have his back when he is. Btw I'm not walking in in drag or anything, I'm literally just stopping in after work wearing a crop top. If it's okay for my workplace it should be fine at a dive bar. Foo has said I "look like a gay little boy" and that they "don't allow people like that inside inside", amongst other tactless, unprovoked comments. He claims it violates a dress code which I have confirmed with other bouncers and bar staff when he isn't present does not exist. So, one star. read more

It was a Friday night, we went for a couple of drinks after dinner. I asked the bartender for two Michelob Ultras, the sign said they were $7 but I was charged $15. Ok, I figured maybe the extra dollar was tax or whatever. Then my friend ordered me another Michelob and he charged her $8. She then ordered two Watermelon Red Bull drinks which were priced at $12 on the board but he charged her $26. All this to say the bar is cool, it was a bit crowded but we found seats before it started to get really packed. Haven't been to Gold Room in years, better than I remember it. Small dive bar off Sunset. Bartender Tony was friendly, attentive and quick to take our drink order. His cocktails were very very well made. He takes his time and you can tell enjoys the craft. Tried the Double Trouble and Pineapple Express. Double Trouble is absolutely delicious - 10/10. Pineapple Express was just as good, but def loaded (has mezcal & tequila). It'll have you feeling good real quick. Drink prices are reasonable priced for LA. Same for their daily happy hour menu. Very solid beer menu too. They have a jukebox you can pay to control the music which is kinda cool. Get to hear a variety of music genres cause of it. Stopped by Gold Room for our very last drink of the long night on a Saturday. This bar stays poppin' until closing! I didn't get the name of my bartender but he was friendly and take the time to make me an excellent whiskey sour (with egg whites!), even though it was a very busy night. Kevin, the bartender was extremely friendly and had no problems greeting me right as I entered part has the classic feel I'm a good old fashion died part strong drinks, cheap food, real good, cheap food! I had to go for the tacos on Tuesdays you get a nice special three tacos for five dollars and you won't even have to wait six minutes to get them... The meat is locally sourced from a taco stand right up the street... And the flavor is just absolutely amazing! Come in and say hi to Kevin. When I went to tell him I didn't want the drink anymore he was putting the straw in his mouth and got upset that I canceled that order but I ordered 6 shots ( 5mexicsn candys and 1 lemon drop) total is SUPPOSED to be 85 and some change but since he got all mad he OVER changed me and my total was 99 and some change . Reasonably priced drinks, good beer selection, friendly service, and a dark ambience. At least when we were there. We only stopped in for a quick drink, so there's really not that much else to say. On a Saturday around 3:30pm, it wasn't very lively, but I did like how low-key it felt. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but if you're walking by, it's worth checking out.
