we got a quote right away and set the move up, thought there might be a better quote and it didn't happen. After canceling the initial move, we had no one for the move. I called at 2:00PM and they were here at 3:00 PM for the move. The man was so accommodating and very careful with all of the furniture, they wrapped everything and took it off after relocating it. They were efficient, professional, had all needed equipment for the move and listened to directions on the placement of the pieces. I have moved over 17 times in my life and this was the best experience of all. The men are respectful and friendly. read more

To anyone considering Square Cow Movers: do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. I did my homework. I spoke with multiple moving companies. In the end, it was Square Cow's overly confident answering service that convinced me to go with them. Big mistake. I hired them to move a large bedroom set from a second-floor bedroom to the garage--something I clearly communicated was not a simple task. I had over four phone calls, sent multiple photos, and explicitly discussed the risks and challenges involved. Each time, I was told everything was "in the notes" and the movers would be properly equipped with straps and the right tools. I even spoke directly with the operations manager the day before the move. He reassured me--again--that his crew would be fully prepared. He even advised me not to purchase additional insurance, claiming it was an easy job and not worth the extra cost. Then moving day arrived. The crew showed up completely unprepared. No straps. No proper equipment. Within minutes, they dropped the first piece of furniture, severely damaging it. The rest of the move was borderline reckless. The crew themselves admitted that Square Cow doesn't provide them with tools or care about their safety--or the customers' belongings. According to them, "Square Cow only cares about making money." After my experience, I believe it. I filed a damage claim, and now I'm stuck in their slow, unresponsive process that may take up to 90 days to maybe--maybe--get a fraction of what the damage is worth. Bottom line: they talk a good game on the phone, but they have zero follow-through. The left hand has no clue what the right is doing, and they clearly don't equip their crews to do the job safely or professionally. Their so-called claims department is a joke. Don't fall for the sales pitch. There are better, more honest companies out there. Square Cow Movers is not one of them. read more

Square Cow Movers to the rescue! I phoned them after a horrible experience with a competitor (see recent review for Skinny Wimp Moving) and they handled my move professionally and all under $300. The moving God's must've been on my side because it went so smoothly and all complete within two hours! There was no upfront deposit. No trip charge fee and the two guys they sent me couldn't of been nicer and more efficient. They constantly said "yes ma'am," "no ma'am," "my pleasure" and handled my furniture with care keeping a close eye watching the walls in my house, so nothing got scratched or dinged. I was really impressed and so relieved. I will be referring them to anyone that asks me about a moving company and definitely use them in the future. read more

Their packing service was incredibly sloppy. They packed paintings in boxes, paint-on-paint, with no padding. Drawers just dumped out. Bottles wrapped in so much plastic it was impossible to get off. No rhyme or reason; stuff just randomly shoved together. Plastic tape stuck in quantity directly to wood. Pretty careless on the move as well. One valuable piece of furniture badly damaged, one completely destroyed. I have used Square Cow in austin at least a dozen times with no major incident. This is the first time I've used this location. For what they charged, it should have been flawless. Now all locations have lost my business. read more

I found it smart and thoughtful - most leases have a 1-year term, so people who moved into apartments may move after another year and will be the ones most needing it. Win-win. It also asked to write a review. For me, it reminded me of the impression I had of my experience from the previous year. So I wrote the review. I had been fine with the work that was done that day, but I had had less than a stellar impression of it. A two bedroom apartment should have taken 3 to 4 hours took 7 hours to move less than 5 miles away. Will not use or recommend Square Cow. Definitely the highest hourly rate and the slowest movers I have ever used. Ok a week later Chris K. reached out to me and we discussed my concerns. I used them to pack my UPack relocube and the 2 gentleman were on time, polite, and professional. I padded my furniture but they secured everything with shrink wrap and was careful to pack the pod tightly so things would not shift while in transit. After reading reviews and being recommended by my realtor, I'm shocked and horrified with my experience with them. Easy to book, and told they would start billing me at 8am when the truck and 2 guys left the office (just a couple miles away), but though a ten minute drive they didn't show up and get started until nearly an hour later. The two guys they sent were very skinny and could barely lift the things my son and I had moved in together just a few months prior. The unprofessionalism is what got me though- they moved incredibly slow, and would be on their phones when I would go upstairs to check on them. The first few hours were completely wasted. I hired them to do the heavy big items, but figured since I paid for the truck I would put as many other things on there too... it was all packed up and I literally stacked it up outside next to the truck. All they had to do was load 3 beds, a couch, a kitchen table, 2 dressers, washer/dryer, and fridge. My move took 7 hours and I was going .9 miles away. The lazy, inexperienced approach they took to halfass wrapping things led to damaged furniture (my daughters brand new bed and my small dining room cabinet). And I was moving out of a $500,000+ rental that they damaged so badly, the repairs cost more than my move... water line was disconnected from fridge but water was turned off properly and led to water damaged wall I didn't notice until the next day, the wood stairs have chunks missing out of them, the ceiling by the stairs and wall at the bottom of the stairs was scraped and damaged, and then the brand new front door of my new house that was solid wood was scraped and had chunks taken out of it- I noticed the one guy put a blanket over it AFTER the damage occurred to cover it up, but the pieces to the door were all over the floor! The guys wrestled in the back of the truck and talked about needing their paychecks to be big or they would be sleeping in their cars. They helped themselves to the kids' bowl of Halloween candy upstairs, which would've been ok... except they are the few king size and obviously special items that my daughter was saving. I did call halfway through my move to complain, and a manager said he would send more guys to help speed things up and acknowledged the damage to the ceiling (which at the time was the only thing they owned up to because I had stood there and watched it be done) and told me to file a claim. The extra guys were helpful and he took some time off of my bill, however there is no way that move should've taken that long and been done in the horrible manner that it was. I have video and photos and am still in disbelief that these guys were hired as paid movers to go into a home and tear it up and behave like that. I rarely use professional movers and only did so to specifically avoid what happened. I can't recommend them and would steer clear of them. read more

We are excited to be living at home full time for the first time since the US Army Corps of Engineers flooded our neighborhood in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. As we have no kitchen or laundry facilities, we were blessed to have purchased a refrigerator/freezer, upright freezer, washer, and dryer from the benevolent couple who loaned us their house in Copperfield. Our challenge was how to get them to our house. Enter Square Cow Movers. Having seen their trucks on the road and after perusing the many glowing reviews on Yelp, our decision was easy. Our three-man crew arrived right on time. Polite and professional, they were very careful with the appliances and the move went without a hitch. Like many local movers, Square Cow charges by crew size and time with a 2-hour minimum. Thankfully, our move was completed in 2 hours. Update as of 10/16/17 Out of the blue I received a call from Isaac, a manger in Austin. He wanted me to explain what exactly had happened with my move. I was hesitant because of the bad experience I had with the previous manager, but I told him what happened and why I was so upset. He apologized for the bad service and wanted to make things right for me. He said that the previous manager was no longer either the company, had handled the situation poorly, and he wanted me to give them a chance to change my view of their company. We came to terms that I could agree on and he even called again to follow up with me. I will give them another shot the next time I move and hope that training issues have been fixed. Isaac was very calm and helpful, and I could tell he really cared about my experience. I was told they would be at our apartment at 11 and they didn't arrive until after noon. I asked that our furniture be wrapped in blankets and they said it was no problem they would do it after being loaded on the truck. Well they didn't wrap it with blankets, just plastic, and as a result many of our pieces of wooden furniture were scratched and dented. One of the guys loaded his dolly too high and dropped about ten boxes because he wasn't paying attention. The movers themselves were nice, but I wouldn't hire them again because of the damage to our furniture. All I got was as a response when I told them about the scratches was a "sorry". No offer to fix the problem at all. I expected more from a company with such great reviews, and was truly disappointed. read more

I used this company to move from Cypress to inside the loop in September. They gave me a great quote so I hired them. We had some bad luck because it poured rain on my moving day but the movers still worked efficiently and quickly to keep my furniture from getting wet. The movers were super friendly and every time I called the office they were friendly over the phone. Unfortunately, I got a tear in the arm of my couch. They notified me when they left the shop and showed up soon after. They wrapped up my items, noted damage existing and started moving. I chipped in as I just can't stand around and do nothing...Plus wanted to get moved in 4 hours or less. They guys are hard working, polite and friendly and we did get moved and unloaded in 4 hours! I have had the worst experience with this moving company, if I can give a ZERO, I could. From the get-go, I explained to the booking agent that I had 320 boxes (itemized info from my cross country move a few months ago) and 3 bedrooms that I had to move. They told me that one truck would be fine, and we agreed on a price. Well, on moving day, the truck comes and the movers told me that they can't move it, so I should get a second truck, all of which was going to be more than what I had received from other reputable moving companies prior to choosing Square Cow. Even with a second truck, they STILL were not able to move it all (which is ironic given that the SAME amount of stuff was able to be moved in one truck with less sq footage than the 2 trucks combined) and I had to pay a lot more than the agreed upon price. So during the 8 hour move, my husband and I were overseeing the 4 movers in 2 different trucks, and had to tell them which items were "must go", vs others that we were going to have to take on our own. During the last hour, I had a bathroom that was closed with personal possessions that I was going to take one the trucks moved out of the driveway because it was heavy. What I had was a 5-gal jug of $1 and $.50 coins that has been passed down from my father that we have been collecting for past 10 years. It was heavy, and before the movers started, we moved the jug full of coins into the closed bathroom. Right before I relieved my husband from overseeing the movers, he went in to check on the jug, and it was there. 1 hour later the trucks were loaded and I locked the garage after they were done so I can meet them out front to take their lunch orders from McAllister's Deli. I come back inside and checked on the bathroom door, and it is wide open and NO JUG OF COINS! So I immediately call the office to see if they can get a hold of either truck to see if they "accidentally" loaded it up on the trucks. I rush over to the new house, and of course the 4 movers says they never touched it, never moved it, check their bags. Of course 100 lbs or more full of coins are not going to be in their bags. So ultimately, I had to file a police report, even offered to give them the exact cash value ($3420 from the last time I had to count for inventory from my move just a few months ago) so I can have the coins back. The manager (Isaac) keeps giving me the run around, saying that I can file a claim form, but he's telling me that it's futile efforts, since the company won't reimburse or do anything about it. I even asked for the owner or someone higher up, and he denied my request saying that the company is aware of the situation, by there's nothing that they will do for me. This company has RUINED my life. This was a sentimental possession that they have stolen from me. And the lack of effort on their part to resolve this is even more disconcerting. To top it off, they of course had damaged some furniture, and my brand new construction home (hard wood flooring, baseboards, walls). Horrible company, and horrible upper management. read more

My husband and I recently moved into our first house and I insisted on using Square Cow. I wanted someone fast, reliable, and most importantly careful. We've used movers in the past that were super fast but we always had a piece or two (or three) damaged when they were done. Definitely wanted to avoid that this time. Our four movers and two trucks showed up on time and got right to work. A head mover is assigned to your move job - they explain the scope of work and make sure the team keeps moving. It's obvious they receive some training and that's definitely reassuring. The manager (that replies to the Yelp quote requests) stays in touch as well. They were not the cheapest nor the fastest moving service we have used but they were indeed the most thorough. Our furniture was carefully moved, they took care of our washer and dryer, and put everything where we wanted/needed. No complaints and would recommend to a friend. read more

We just used Square Cow to move us from Houston to Dallas. The price they quoted was perfect, but a great price doesn't mean anything if the people moving your possessions don't care. Nick, Allen and Malik made a believer out of me. These young men were professional, courteous, and they "cared" about my furniture. Each piece was covered with blankets, taped, and covered in shrink wrap. They took their time. They coordinated moving the heavy pieces. With larger pieces they talked out how they were going to get it through the door, what direction things would be turned, and then they executed their plan. Boxes sorted by size and weight, and Allen was the tetris master, stacking boxes the most efficient way to ensure things were secure. We had planned on renting an additional truck to take what Square Cow could not fit in their truck, but they amazed us with how well they loaded the truck. Our last moving company was in such a rush, things were "jammed in" with no consideration to space or damage to my furniture. THIS IS AN UPDATE FROM THE REVIEW BELOW. After posting the below review, I received a phone call from John (manager at SquareCow) apologizing for all the inconvenience and offering me to send someone to repair our desk and bed frame. He also asked me how much I would feel it would be a reasonable offer in order to compensate us for the lost of the TV. I told him how much I feel would compensate us for the damaged tv and he took up with his management and after approval sent us another check for the difference. The repair of the desk and bed were nicely done, which also made us feel less troubled with the moving experience. I still can't give more than 3 stars because all the issues happening with our move and the pretty unreasonable first offer of settlement, but I did appreciate the call and courteous manner John treated us and offered to compensate in a fair way. Thanks John. --------------------------------------------------x------------------------------------------------------ When my wife and I were looking for a moving company, we had several options near the Houston Area. Square Cow was referred to us by our realtor and we compared them with others such as Three man movers and Graebel. In the end of all comparisons, we were between Square Cow and Three man. Three man was very well referred to us by friends, but Square cow did not charge a base fee and Three man did. So, we decided to go with SC. Right now, I wish I would not have considered the cheapest option, but instead the best reference by our friends. The experience with these guys started ok but then, when they had to disassemble our office desk, it took them forever. Not sure if they didn't have the right tools or the right experience to do that. The crew was three guys, one younger than the other and as appeared to me, with very little experience in moving. They damaged all the threads of the screws in our table and in the end were not able to separate it correctly in order to transport it. Because of that, they had to take the desk assembled in 2 parts and managed only to remove one part of the desk. When we arrived with the move in my new address, we discovered several items damaged, such as (not surprisingly) our office desk. The part that they managed to disconnect felt pretty hard during the moving (note that the distance between the old and new house was merely 3 miles) and the wood got severely damaged. Talking about damage, as they had damaged the threads to the screws, took them another forever to put the desk back together and they left 2 screws in the drawer (and worst didn't tell me a thing about it, since I discovered this later). Back to the damages, our master bed left side also was severely damaged and they left it all loose, not screwing it tightly as it should (later, after we complained, one of the assistant managers, called Ni, came and tight the screws right). Some other items were also damaged, like our couch and some shelves, but we didn't even claim those, since they were minor damages. BEST FOR LAST, we thanked the movers, gave them a nice tip and said good bye. Next day, when we try to turn on our 70 inch Sony bravia tv, nice surprise! It was all damaged in the bottom. THEY LEFT OUR 70 INCH TV FALL pretty hard and it is now unusable. The TV itself worths at least $1,000 dollars. Next thing, we complained with them and they sent us the instructions to file a claim. BEWARE, THAT THEIR CLAIM SYSTEM IS ALL VIA PAPER (in 2017 - really?!). You have to send print outs of pictures and a hard copy of a letter and of their claims form via regular mail. Our contract, did not include extra insurance, so we stick with the TX State Law minimum, which if 0.60 dollars per pound. We filed the claim and their response (1 month later) was basically that their minimum obligation was for 0.60 dollars per pound, (which is pretty much nothing when compared to the added value of a 70 inches TV for exemple) and the right amount that they were liable was US$ 157.20 (for a $1,000.00 tv and severe damages to the wood of our desk and bed), but WAIT they are all about customer service, so they wanted to go ABOVE AND BEYOND their legal obligation (great!), so they would be generous and offer us US$ 185.00 - WOW THAT IS GOING ABOVE AND BEYOND FOR SQUARE COW STANDARDS! - $ 27.80 BUCKS! Unbelievable customer service for sure! In summary, be CAUTIOUS about all these great reviews. Right now, we really regret not choosing THREE MAN MOVERS when we could, which our friends referred after having using them twice and not having a single scratch in their goods. We were really hoping that SQUARE COW standards for taking care of customers were higher than 27 bucks, but I guess we were just expecting too much. Thanks Square Cow. Never again! read more

My two sons and I had packed and moved all the smaller items and we just needed helped with sofas, beds, appliances, etc. The two movers were professional and courteous, and ingenious at making my items fit through small openings. Not a single item was damaged. Even while I was settling the bill with Justin, Allen saw my youngest son unpacking our truck of smaller items and ran over to help him. Used Square Cow Moovers (Katy) back in Sept of this year. Highly would not recommend. Zero professionalism, sense of urgency, or attention to detail. The move consisted of moving a dresser, a rower, two nightstands, a queen mattress, a queen adjustable base, and a sofa chair. Distance from point A to point B was less than five miles. A three man crew was paid for, yet only two of them actually worked, dismally at that. The crew had to be supervised and redirected in their work approach. The two nightstands were removed from starting residence on dolly not covered nor protected. When asked about wrapping or protecting them, all that was told was that it would get wrapped once inside the truck. At that point I let the crew know that everything leaving residence needed to be wrapped and/or protected prior to leaving residence. This should have been common sense, but apparently it wasn't with them. The biggest frustration once the move was all said and done was that one of the two nightstands got damaged due to their handlings. Could it have been prevented by initially doing one's job efficiently? Will never know. What I do know is that one couldn't pay me to use this company again. The one star goes for getting the mentioned items from point A to point B afterall. In conclusion, spare yourself the distress of using this company. Better luck elsewhere... read more

AMAZING! I cannot say enough great things about the quality of the work these guys did. They were punctual, efficient...very efficient, and fast!
