I've been wanting to check out ironsmith coffee roasters for a while now and finally got to visit it on a Sunday. It's located near the Encinitas sign (across the street from the movie theater). Pros: -quick service Cons: -I came about 25 minutes before closing and tables were already stacked up on one another so I took my drink to go. Come earlier if you want to spend some time here.

The tables are falling apart from water damage. The particle board is swollen, crumbling, and deteriorated to the point that my elbow got wet from leaning on it. Using furniture like this in a café is a strange decision and makes the place feel poorly maintained.

Got the opportunity to stop by Ironsmith roasters here in Encinitas. When you walk in, it's a simple nice interior, nice wooden slats, merchandise like cups and coffee bags to buy, a nice glass case for their baked goods. Simple seating outside and a bench inside. I ordered an iced vanilla latte and a croissant. The girl who took my order wasn't the nicest, every time I said something it was "anything else......., anything else...... anything else??" No smile, no politeness, felt like I was an inconvenience to her so that wasn't a nice experience. I try never to take points off for service because you never know what could be going on with in that person's life and it could today that affected her the most. The latte itself was solid, didn't blow me way like some other coffee shops but still solid. The croissant was delicious tho, very flaky and delicious. I think a one time visit is enough. Thank you Ironsmith, overall it was good.

This place is a great spot to grab coffee, chai, or other teas in Encinitas. I got a vanilla chai which was super flavorful, just a bit sweet for me. The service was nice, friendly and quick too. It doesn't have much seating indoors - just a bench with small tables. Outdoors they set up a couple tables in the sidewalk which are nice to use for work if you're ok with the outdoors! WiFi works great.

Came in for a vanilla iced latte and left satisfied. This is exactly what I was looking for in an ice latte. The coffee flavor was rich and pleasantly roasted. The sweet and warmth from the vanilla tied everything together smoothly. There was no one else in the shop when I went, so service was pretty fast. Also it's a no-frills coffee shop that focuses on what they do best--coffee! Great to grab and head on down to Moonlight beach.

Hadn't been to this place in years, so I was happy to get the chance again after going to the Moonlight market across the street. My friend ordered an iced vanilla latte and i ordered an iced rose latte. While the rose flavor wasn't distinct (it just tasted sweet to me), the coffee was still delicious. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed our drinks and would definitely come back to try other things. The cafe was clean, service was quick, and the baristas were kind.

The place is great and the atmosphere is really good. The coffee is not tasty and the pastries are really not good. Fortunately, they contain sugar and that changes everything, but they need to significantly improve the quality of their pastries.

Customer service was good but the strawberry matcha was a 1/10. It just tasted like oak milk, no matcha or strawberry but maybe this place is known for their coffee and does not focus on matcha and that's okay! I just won't be back haha

A local popular coffee shop in Encinitas. I saw their name mentioned on the Waverly Restaurant menu. Might seem like a small unsuspecting place that serves coffee but if you take a closer look you will see that they roast their own beans in the back and the espresso equipment they use is top tier (La Marzocco). Super friendly and helpful staff especially Giana. Coffee is amazing and much better than other places on the same street and elsewhere. Had an oat milk cappuccino and also tried their turmeric and ginger drink. I saw that a lot of their ingredients are made in house. This is definitely a place that's more about the coffee and the community vibe.

so many roasters within 3 miles of encinitas and the 101. had their cold brew which was good. brew wise it was between revolution and lofty in terms of lingering after taste (closer to lofty). so if you like a semi charred cold brew that doesn't get mild while it lingers in the ice, you'll enjoy ironsmith. its a must we go back to try their flat white since its something we hardly see here in the states. first time having it was in new zealand where it was their latte minus the heavy steamed milk froth. read more

Best place to get some coffee in Encinitas! The baristas are seriously the kindest people ever...and make the best coffee! The vibe is awesome with amazing art, vintage motorcycles, and usually a dog or two hanging out with their owners. Oh also they have great pastries from local bakeries like VG Donuts in Cardiff :) Always try the barista's special...it won't disappoint! read more

The location is good and decor appealing. Unfortunately, the only latte (coffee) size, which is relatively small, is medium priced ($5 with almond milk). Wi-Fi was down the morning I was there but Cox has a hotspot. Apple Pay was also down. Very limited pastry offerings but the cinnamon rolls looked insane. Not a great work spot as the seats were limited and uncomfortable for the most part. Lots of power outlets though... read more

YUM! Excellent coffee -the taste of their beautifully roasted beans came through even though I took mine away in a paper cup. I ordered a cappuccino, which had a proper proportion of milk to espresso. Nice touches on the decor too with the ironsmith theme - they have what appear to be handcrafted hooks, counters and other hardware throughout and have incorporated the workshop elements into the displays as well, topping it all off with a vintage motorcycle out front:) I'm a fan! read more

I went here last week for the first time and had a cup of the Ethiopian. It was so good that I didn't need to add any cream.(though I did) I bought a half pound of beans and had it ground for my chemex.(a very beautiful but temperamental glass pour-over style coffee maker) I was told that if I didn't like how my coffee tasted,I could bring it back and they would change the grind. I've become a bit of a coffee geek and snob in the past 2 years. I love my chemex and am still perfecting my morning coffee. I used my new beans from here and my coffee didn't taste anything like my perfectly smooth cup I had in the shop. So I came in today with my beans and told one of the owners that I didn't like my coffee. Matt spent at least 25 minutes with me on how to perfect my coffee. It was a coffee nerd's dream come true. They had me with the coffee but they won me with the awesome customer service. Unpretentious excellent coffee. read more

Ironsmith is a newer coffee shop along the scenic 101 highway, and it utilizes this the sea breeze and walking traffic by having a very open space. The staff is wonderful and there seems to be a very friendly local population who frequent the spot. It's apart of the third coffee wave, where they roast on site and the menu simple because the focus is on quality. You will not find blended drinks here or excessive syrups, and as they progress with finding their flavor profile niche the drink quality continues to rise. They do have wifi, but seats fill up fast so hurry over. read more

Iced almond mild latte was awesome. Everyone working there was super nice! Love the cozy environment. All around a really nice addition to Encinitas! Wifi worked really well and they have power outlets to charge your computer which some coffee shops in the area have been doing away with. Love their bar area that faces the windows! read more

The coffee was good but $3 for a small Americano was not worth it. Service wasn't great - ordered it to stay and they still gave me a "to go" cup. The atmosphere is terrible: It sits right on the street and very noisy. Not many chairs. Very little selection of baked goods if you want to have something with your coffee. So many coffee shops to choose from so this is not on my return list. read more

This place is such a gem! I had my dog with me and hesitantly walked in expecting to get glares from the staff... The exact opposite happened! Everyone was SO friendly. The only thing that was mentioned was how cute my dog is! There were even other dogs there (which Bear loved). Would recommend this place over any other coffee shop in encinitas!!! read more

They have some kinks to work out. I have gone there twice and it will be the last. The ice latte I ordered tasted like creamer. The ice espresso I ordered tasted burnt. The employees seemed inexperienced not only in making the drinks but also with their customer service. read more

What do you get when you combine first rate coffee made with loving care with excellent customer service? IronSmith Coffee. I came to this place when it opened a few months back, and have been a regular ever since. They work hard to make your coffee the best, and they work hard to make sure you are taken care of and satisfied. It feels like Cheers, where everybody knows your name. They go the extra mile for you and they take care of their people. It's a big plus for me that they are PC and wifi friendly, unlike other nearby establishments. So order a cappuccino or a cold brew, plug up, and enjoy! read more

Needed a nice little place to,aetup for,some,work in,a nice environment. The espresso machine was being worked on while i was there but no matter, I got a barista special of iced coffee with vanilla. I found this place by accident and was pleasantly surprised. The staff provides great service, although they have a small selection of snack items they are all delicious. I'm a big fan of their white tea. The location is awesome, you can have coffee or tea then take a stroll to moonlight beach only a couple of blocks away. Maybe a good place for a coffee date. read more

Very good coffee. Got a Colombian drip and it was stellar. They have a good u set standing of the bean and the roast level that works best. They don't just try and get a light roast out of everything because it is hip, but rather, they find the point where each bean shines, even if it is closer to a medium roast. Great customer service as well, very friendly. Their espresso game is on point as well. Amazing flat white. read more

Seriously the best coffee! This is my go to for a Cold Brew, but everything they have is great! I take my kids to Moonlight Beach park just because this place is in walking distance. I was a little confused when Waze led me to an office parking area where I spotted an umbrella and what looked like a coffee stand. Undeterred, I parked and ventured over. It was the most unique, unusual and memorable coffee experience I've ever had. This place is for true coffee and espresso aficionados. The man working the kiosk referred to the place as a wine bar for coffee as the coffee is prepared, discussed and poured the same way fine wine is. If you love Starbucks, do not go here! If you love thoughtfully and artfully well prepared single Origen coffee, this place should not be missed. Ideally, the coffee should be ordered, prepared and consumed without dairy products so that you truly taste, experience and enjoy all the flavors. Ideally, it would be best to purchase a pour over, and they have a menu dedicated to them. It should be on every coffee and espresso addicts must go to list. I highly recommend it and I'm excited to enjoy the beans I bought at home.

Walking up there was a bit of a line but it was moving at a fair pace. It gave us the opportunity to really read the menu above the register well. There's both outdoor and indoor seating. The lattes were wonderful. Smooth and tasty. The Lil Dippers (mini burritos) were pretty substantial and the plain bagel surprisingly was the best we've ever had at any coffee place. SO good! Great taste and perfect texture. It was unfortunate though that the cream cheese cup that comes with it didn't suffice. It wasn't at all enough for a good ratio. Another coffee spot in Encinitas!? Why not? There are a dozen places to get coffee in a 6 block stretch of 101 in Encinitas for starters. And while this place is clean, the service friendly and quick, the parking and prices are challenging, while the quality and selection is hardly unique. We tried parking next door at SunBum because the sign next to Ironsmith says SunBum, so we assumed that was the name of the place - but were promptly challenged by some hipster whose trust fund had been poorly invested. read more

Awesome guys that run this place.. I love the quaint & industrial vibe of this place - but mostly seeing some industrial automation hard at work in the roasting that is happening on site every day. It's not often you can speak to the barista about how/why the coffee is roasted a certain way based on geographical point of origin, altitude, species etc. Great place. read more
