Wow . This was one of the best DoorDash meals I've had in a very very long time. The food itself is a very solid 5+ star meal. Outstanding! I don't even know where to start but here goes. The New Mexican Philly cheesesteak, arguably my favorite dish, very very different take on what a cheesesteak usually is (not in a bad way). I was first skeptical when I ordered it, but I saw all the great reviews on the dish so I had to try. This was oddly enough my 4th favorite Philly cheesesteak I've ever had, which is weird to say because the first 3 favorites were actually in Philly and made the traditional way. Something about the spicy queso sauce and the soft fatty tasting meat just really brought it home. The huevos rancheros: every inch was flavorful , saucy, cheesy and lovely. I enjoyed even more the parts where I could also taste the tortilla at the bottom, wish it was in more of the dish but it's okay the flavors were outstanding. Another 5 star dish! Next time I'll also try it with eggs over medium. The Xmas chile cheese fries: best chile cheese fries in New Mexico! The fries themselves tasted like they were hand cut, so either they had some high quality freezer fries or they definitely cut those fries by hand. Either way I wasn't complaining! Their green chile was insanely good. We also had the Green Chile stew, the flavors and ingredients were really good. I think for people that love home cooking this will feel really nostalgic for them. Like grandmas caldo she used to make. For me, the dry texture of the beef reminded me way too much of my mom's dry / rough beef she always had in her stews . Objectively I can say it was a really nice caldo, but the tortillas, not sure how I could grab on to much of the food with it really. I think this might be a dish best eaten in house. I also tipped their staff $2 in addition to the driver tip , and they wrote a funny joke on the plate which I thought was cute haha. I kept the rating at 5 stars but I hope that management reads this review because I do have one critique. All the food was in styrofoam and non sustainable plastic. Styrofoam especially has been banned from some places including California because when heated it, it adds cancer causing chemicals into your food. I would gladly pay $0.35 per meal to receive the meals in sustainable packaging that will keep me healthy. Because of this, I think I won't be ordering from here for delivery and hope that I have time to make the 20 minute drive to go there in person. It's really good food! What a great Veteran Friendly place! The have Flags, pictures, patches, MOH wall, Veteran wall, Deceased Veteran Table etc... the Ambiance is awesome and welcoming! I had the Country Fried Steak and eggs; my wife had the Hurvos Rancheros! Both were outstanding! The Country fried steak is home made and battered and the sausage Gravy is to die! The Biscuit is also homemade! They are friendly and prices are very reasonable. My Wife's Huevos Rancheros were lovely and she said the Red Chile was perfect! Back in town for the week, and this spot is saved in my list for ABQ spots I enjoy and have tried. Theyre green chile is so good. I ordered delivery to take to the nearby hospital and everything was just as yummy as last time I was in town and ate here. 2 orders Huevos rancheros with green chile, 1 order biscuits and gravy with eggs, and 1 order bacon. Bacon is so good it tastes deep fried. And the green chile had me mouth breathing from its kick which makes it an EPIC SUCCESS. I love how they give you hot homemade tortillas as well. Since I get delivery when in ABQ, I cannot speak to the ambiance, but there is an option to add a tip for the crew working, and they'll leave you a funny joke and note on your Togo container so I would say service is 10/10 via in house or delivery. read more

Reuben was great and fries were dynamite. I really liked their ranch dressing also. My wife had the enchiladas and she enjoyed the flavor but it came out lukewarm which was a bummer. Ambience was of the quintessential diner and the staff were very friendly. Definitely worth a stop, specially if Reubens are your thing. read more

What a cool place! Husband and I stopped in for breakfast and were met with a warm welcome. The food was very good and served with very little wait time. I had the biscuits and gravy and enjoyed every bite. The biscuits tasted fresh-made and my eggs were cooked perfectly. Husband enjoyed his chicken fried steak. I also enjoyed the O.J., which tasted fresh squeezed (I like fresh and tasty ). The decor was patriotic with pictures and medals and flags... along with good stories of some of our great heroes. Today we went to Ironwood Kitchen. I was so excited to go today, after looking at the menu online on their website. The prices for the food looked fantastic and like such a fantastic deal... however when we showed up, all the prices for all the items on the menu were at least $3 to $5 more than what their website menu had said. I ordered a pastrami sandwich and honestly it tasted like a fried bologna sandwich. Not that it's a bad thing at all... just unexpected. My husband got a burger which was good, but a little too charred for me. The fries however saved it all... they were freakin delicious. You order when you walk in at the counter and the food is brought directly to your table. The staff was friendly and quick. Refills were free. It was a little warm in there, but we managed to find a spot slightly closer to their vent... though I would say some additions of fans would not hurt at all! We visited Ironwood Kitchen in Rio Rancho and tried a few different dishes. I ordered the BLT sandwich, which normally comes with Muenster cheese, but I chose to leave it off. It came with homemade fries and a Coke. The portion size was great, and the price was fair. My husband had the breakfast burrito covered in red chile, served with breakfast potatoes and garnish. My son ordered the chicken fried steak, which came with breakfast potatoes and two eggs. The food was okay--not bad, but nothing that really stood out in terms of flavor. The service, on the other hand, was excellent. Staff were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. You order at the counter, seat yourself, and they bring your food to the table. What stood out most to me was the decor. The restaurant honors veterans and active military, which I absolutely adore. It gives the space a sense of purpose and pride. I have been coming to Ironwood Kitchen for a while now. What brought me to Ironwood Kitchen was word of their green chile philly cheesesteak! Let me tell you, it did not disappoint. I am sucker for thinly sliced steak and cheese and then you throw in some green chile! Yum! I now typically visit for breakfast. My go too at the moment is their biscuits and gravy. The biscuit is nice and soft, they are always generous with the gravy and the potatoes are seasoned so well. The whole plate is quite delicious. I haven't been able to venture away from it. The gravy already has lil sausage bits in it, but sometimes I get a side of sausage. I'm only giving 4 stars because a few of the last visits came with an extra long wait, for breakfast, which is typically whipped up pretty quickly. Where to start? First, it's 100° out and the air conditioner wasn't working. They didn't have fans or make any effort to cool the place off, but I figured for a quick meal it shouldn't be too bad. Unfortunately, a quick meal was out of the question, because despite just ordering simple sandwiches, it took over half an hour for our food to arrive. I ordered a grilled cheese. How can you screw up a grilled cheese? Well, you slap a piece of cheese between some bread and don't quite grill it. My friends enjoyed their BLT and Reuben, although they were undercooked as well. I just don't understand how it can take half an hour for three sandwiches, and they still weren't cooked properly. The ambience is that of a veterans' hall, but with more light. My mother always said if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all, so I will add that the young woman who took my order, and the young man who ran the food were polite and friendly despite the sweat pouring off their bodies, because the place was so damn hot. read more

I stopped in here for a late lunch. My first visit to this establishment. It is conveniently close to the Rust Medical Center. I had a Reuben sandwich with fries that I would describe as a perfect lunch. The fries were hot out of the fryer, the Reuben was just right. Service was fast, staff was very friendly. The atmosphere is very comfortable. Orders are placed at the counter, and it was somewhat refreshing to read the menu off the wall, instead of scanning a QR code . The decor really deserves attention, because it consists of memorabilia and remembrances of military, men and women from New Mexico, many of whom were killed in action. Thus I would describe the atmosphere as comfortable, but also also thought-provoking. Prices are excellent. In fact, to be straightforward I would say that price was very low price for a meal of this quality. Located in a small strip mall this little gem is veteran owned and military/first responder appreciative. The walls are adorned with shadow boxes, pictures, unit patches and memorials to both service members and police officers. Orders are made at the counter and delivered to the table. They had hand breaded chicken fried steak on the menu so that was a no-brainer for me, with eggs, potatoes & a biscuit. We also ordered the Ironwood Spuds. The spuds came out topped with sausage, bacon, cheese and choice of chili and a tortilla on the side. The dish was flavorful and the chile was just right - not overpowering. The Chicken Fried Steak was tender and not over cooked. The gravy was equally delicious. Why 3 stars? It was cold inside. It was mid-30s outside and it was open from roof to floor - no ceiling tiles to maintain the heat. Our food got cold quicker than it should have making it harder to enjoy. read more

No Greeter? When you walk in you see a board and tables so it's confusing as you figure out there are no waiters you need to stand in line to order. Once you order you get a playing card and go wait at a table. The pictures are a wonderful tribute to first responders and I enjoyed reading and looking at all of them. However after you finish admiring all the photos you just sit. No one checks on you or asks if you need anything. After 30 minutes I went to ask cashier about our order and was told there were other orders still ahead of us. It was not packed, no waiting line just extremely slow with no apologies. read more
