I've been coming to the Irvine Spine & Wellness Center to see Dr. Shakib for a few months now for preventive care. She is so inspiring and passionate about her practice. She will transform your mindset after one visit. Dr. Shakib and her staff (Desiree, Carolyn, and Lex) have been incredibly warm and welcoming. It doesn't feel like a dreaded doctor's visit, but more of a fun and challenging wellness session that leaves you and your body feeling rejuvenated! You can tell that the staff really know what they're doing and that they truly care for the well-being of their patients. They are very passionate, knowledgeable, and highly skilled at their craft. They curate each session to the patient and there is a specific focus each time depending on how you've practiced and any personal issues impacting you (ie stress, work, exams). There is a high level of trust and I'm never afraid to voice my concerns or give feedback with Dr. Shakib, Desiree, or Lex, which is important as it helps them improve each visit. Every session is very hands-on. I like to ask a lot of questions and comprehend everything we do. Sometimes, we supplement them by watching videos or looking at diagrams, which makes the concepts easier to process since I am more of a visual learner. The staff will guide me through the exercises and movements, making corrections and offering encouragement. By the end of each session, I have a great understanding of the concepts, why we practice certain exercises, and the goal of the exercises. I've become more self-aware about how I am using and positioning my body and its impact on enhancing my wellbeing. And I love that I learn something new out of each visit. It's important to note that the result will come gradually and will only work if you're willing to put in the effort. Communication with the office is excellent. It's very easy to schedule an appointment and they are very accommodating to changing schedules. With the pandemic, the staff has done an excellent job separating the patients and allowing time in between appointments. Also, we can text when we arrive and Carolyn will give the go-ahead to come on in when the office is ready for us. Great way to minimize contact with other patients. It's never too late to start preventive care! Even my dad ("Age is just a number!" and "All you need to do is change your mindset" was what it took to convince him) started his sessions and could see the improvement in his mindset and posture. In this technological age, we need to maintain healthy postures and habits as more of our work and activities involve sitting behind a desk or utilizing electronic devices that force our bodies to fall into unnatural positions. The doctor makes it seems like she cares about your well being but it all comes down to how many times they can make you come to their office and how much money they can get out of you. I have been in a physically stressful job of one kind or another since I was a teenager; detailing cars, custom spoiler and body lit installations, and for the last 22 years performing Paintless dent repairs, all of which have been very demanding on my body. I have severe TMJ and have been seeking medical treatment to no avail for many years. Dr. Shakib and her staff are the best! Due to Covid things are a bit different but very much appreciated. Upon arrival you text or call the office to let them know you have arrived. You wait in the car until "the coast is clear" and they text you back letting you know it is okay to enter. The environment is open and what you expect from a legitimate wellness center. There is much more to the office than a typical anatomical lumbar sculpture and community college anatomy poster(s). Upon walk in, you notice physical therapy circuits - in addition to the adjustment and massage room(s). Dr. Shakib provides an extensive review and expectation/objectives for all her patients. The initial examination is thorough and you receive your results and benchmarks; you can see your placement and plan how you will better yourself. She provides consistent feedback and correction during your visits. The adjustments are never painful and Dr. Shakib does not force your body to do anything it will not allow. If you have questions, you are open to ask and will get an explanation you can actually understand! I never feel like a number/case study in the center. Shakib is personable as is all the staff at the Wellness Center. I have seen/felt significant improvement in my initial five weeks and will continue my visits. I have been suffering from chronic neck pain but in the last six months my right arm and shoulder started hurting. First I ignored it, then tried to do some exercises, massages and also OTC Ibuprofen for about a month but the condition worsened. I could not move my right arm without any pain. Having a full time job, I didn't have the time to try physical therapy nor did I want to go to an Orthopedic to get painkillers or cortisone injections. My pain got really bad and movements so restricted that I couldn't sleep nor perform day-to-day functions pain-free. When a friend suggested to see a Chiro I decided to give it a shot. I was skeptical as I had never been to one before. I found Dr Shakib online and decided to see her after doing some research. Dr Shakib did an evaluation for over an hour and advised me to start treatment right-away. Since I was in a lot of pain which was worsening she wanted to see me the next day. She cautioned me to be prepared as this was going to be painful but I had to attend to it otherwise my arm could become immobile. She estimated that I would need at least six 30 minute sessions, utmost nine. In the meantime, she had me get X Rays. The X Rays showed the cause of the pain originated in my neck that had started manifesting in my arm and shoulders due to not attending to it for a long time. She started working on my neck, back, hip, and mostly on my right shoulder and arm. The treatment was painful but I started noticing immediate improvement. My range of motions increased gradually. Also, after about three treatments, the chronic pain in my neck is almost gone and I am sleeping much better. Now after six treatments, I can happily report that I am fully functional. I have regained 90% of my arm movement. I am so grateful to have found Irvine Spine and Wellness. I was introduced to Dr. Shakib's office by a friend of mine and I'm so glad I was introduced to a wellness chiropractor. Not all chiropractors are the same. I had been to one chiropractor before and he literally told me, well, if you're not injured I'm not sure why you'd want to see a chiropractor, but hey, if you want to come here, I'll take your money. Can you believe that? Over the past 3+ years with Dr. Shakib I've experienced less pain and have led a healthier life. I had the worst upper back and shoulder pain when I went to Dr. Shakib's office. I would get massages but they never seemed to really help. I swear I'm not lying when I say that after my first adjustment, my back pain went away. Obviously not every person will experience this but I have paid attention to how my body is before and after an adjustment and it is definitely much improved. The initial assessment process is very thorough. Dr. Shakib tells you like it is and will answer any questions you have. I've had massages through her office, emotional freedom technique (EFT), metabolic typing, and am now doing Functional Endocrinology. This is not a "crack house" lol. It's an office where you can go and improve your health. Currently my hair is falling out the worst it ever has (I've had this problem since I was 15 with no answers from any medical doctors) and I'm patiently going through the process of addressing different parts of my health to hopefully fix this problem.
