Expensive but great food. They were supposed to close down a few years ago but it seems that is not the case.

When I say this place is on point....the food is sooooooo good! I come all the way from south LA just to have my enchiladas topped with red chili meat. I give the tacos a 8/10. However, one day I went the closed early like at 4:00 ,they need to be consistent. Tips for the cook are to cut the meat and veggies smaller and neater because the pieces where too big! Also, the salsa needs just a hint or oregano, it was too much too strong, and it would be nice if they made other salsas. The meat was tasty and tender but need a bit more salt. I am so sad because I really love this place but the service killed it for me today. It is 5:40pm, the site says that they close at 6pm. I called my order and picked it up at 5:30. When I got home, I realized that the order was wrong and that I got the green instead of the red. I called right away because I live 5 minutes away. To my surprise, no answer. I decided to go back. Sadly when I arrived, the restaurant was closed and the time was 5:38, even though the sign outside said they close at 6pm. When I checked the paper in the bag, it even said "red wet burrito" I was really disappointed because the green are so spicy and we cannot tolerate it. All the good went to waste. My family and I have been coming here for years now. I've noticed however the past 3-4 times this year the customer service there is practically non existent. The women in the front are assholes. I believe this is why the food is starting to taste mediocre as well. My uncle was a longshoreman and has long supported this business which is how we were introduced but it's sad to say, they may have lost lifelong customers. Well this review will conflict with many on here but I like old school flavor in my Mexican food and it's obvious from the flavorless refried beans they aren't using lard anymore like most Mexican food places now (unfortunately). I got the Jones asada burrito dry and it was ok but nothing that special. Got a green Chile pork burrito wet and it was ok and spicey. Got a red Chile bees burrito wet and it too was ok but nothing you can't get almost anywhere. The girls working there were pretty grumpy which didn't help. You get no chips with all this food and the place doesn't exactly ooze ambiance. I hear they do a good business so this review won't hurt them and I don't see myself going back which usually means two stars not three. read more

Yum yum yum Isaac's never lets me down. The burritos have remained the same over the years. I like the "if it ain't broke, don't try and fix it". They are original, the carne asada burrito comes with nice cuts of meat, avocado, tomatoes, onions, cilantro and I always ask for my salsa on the side. The jones burritos is something out of this world. It is a chunky tender beef in a red sauce with cheese and avocado. I like to order the side salad. It is small and comes with onion, tomatoes, avocado and a oil and vinegar dressing. Please keep in mind the place does get busy. It is best to call in your order or expect a wait. The wait time can vary from 5 minutes or longer. The other day a worker ahead of me was picking up 30 burritos for his crew. I was happy I called in my order. I added a photo of the menu to try and keep everyone updated. The prices are worth it because the quality and size is worth it. read more

I've been coming here over the years since I was a young teen maybes younger.My mom worked in Wilmington and would always bring food home from there. I've gotten the asada burrito wet with green chili. I've also had the carnitas plate which is freaking delicious . The tostadas are good as well but tons of lettuce. Takes a few bites to get to the meat and beans.The nachos are bombbb AF!!! This last visit we had the Dispatch Hall burrito! Omg omg we both were having a foodgasam lol Everything is just Amazing!! Prices are moderate the parking is fairly decent. The decor inside ahhh we need an upgrade there. Other than that this is a must eat spot. You won't be disappointed !! Known only to Wilmington residents and member of the longshoring union is Isaac's Cafe. Isaac's is located on Fries Avenue, directly across the streets from the entrance to International Longshore and Warehouse Union - Local 13. They have been feeding union members and Wilmington residents for years. When I heard my coworkers talk about this place, I knew I had to come back here to get one of their carne asada burritos. Isaac's get crowded during lunchtime, especially when the union members are around. Luckily, I arrived after the lunch rush. I ordered the carne asada burrito and was able to quickly find a seat. Minutes later, my burrito was done. The burrito was filled with carne asada and had some tomatoes and avocado in it. Meat and more meat. The meat was nicely marinated and cooked perfectly. The carne asada burrito is great for an empty stomach. It was exactly as I remembered it. Isaac's is no fancy place. It is a typical hole in the wall restaurant. You order at the counter, pick up your food, and seat yourself. No waiter service. Just a hidden gem. If you need to go to Wilmington, don't forget to go to Isaac's. Came here for lunch after I got a recommendation from a Yelp friend last night, and not knowing that my husband has brought home food from here. Parking is tough, I think they have a few spaces behind their building, but I didn't go there. I parked on the street closer to the Food 4 Less store than this restaurant. It was super busy and the entire lunch process took WAY longer than we had anticipated. Lunch during the week day might be out of the question in the future. Since it was so busy, we didn't get samples, as other Yelpers have stated. They would have obliged, but we'll sample them next time when it isn't during the lunch rush!! You order at the counter and go find a seat. When your order number is called, you go collect your food. This is more like the do-it -yourself fast food method, no servers. The food itself is not fast food. It is not ready fast, either! My husband got a Meat Tostada, and it was tasty! Hubby pulled out the chip from beneath the abundance of toppings before it could become soggy. He had asked for an extra tostada chip when he ordered, but it was missing, so he used my second tortilla to eat the rest of his food. I had the Green Plate, which is the Pork Chile Verde with rice & beans. It also came with 2 burrito sized tortillas. I would have liked some cilantro on the plate so I could add it to my bites. I like that they put avocado slices on the plates. The pork was flavorful and tender. The tortillas seem to be made fresh right there in the restaurant and is a nice touch! The green salsa is good, not really much of a kick to it, but it goes well with the food. I could literally have eaten just the green salsa & tortilla and been happy... don't tell hubby! We will more than likely be back! The food is good! We just know that lunch time during the week day won't be a good time to be here. Came to check this place out. First thing you see is the menu and prices. I thought I was eating at a 5 star luxury restaurant with high prices like this. You pay $5 for a small (1) taco and $18 + for a plate. I won't complain about the taste but no mames. Burrito use to be 6 bucks now you pay $15 + for a burrito. You would think a quesadilla being so plain would be cheap? It's $7 + I know it's a small business and all but you gotta show some love for your customers as well. read more

The limited availability of parking during these times of pre-concieved, gastro-intestinal bliss? Honestly, I just can't say. But, what I can say is I love the green chili burritos, especially with cheese. But in my older age, they don't necessarily agree with me like they used to. First time here so a very solid 3 star rating, with a lot of potential to move up to 4 stars. I had the Jones Chile Verde burrito, while my wife had the Huevos Racheros. Portion size is big and the burrito was packed with pork. The taste was really good with right amount of cheese and avocado inside. There is no soda fountain to refill your drink since all they offer is cans as no bottles. The inside is older but kept clean with big windows letting in lots of light. Was in Wilmington with my wife decided to come here because it had great rewiews. I ordered the wet Asada burrito she ordered the bacon breakfast burrito. The burrito was decent not amazing I did like the red sauce they drenched the burrito in. The sauce has like extra meat and was really good. The burrito tasted bland though. This place used to be an all time favorite for many!! Found out it has been up for sale which explains a lot!! I was extremely disappointed with the service and food seemed not quite the same. UPDATE!!!!! I will never go back there they new owner doesn't even have the green sauce or chili verde burritos - they are known for that. The dispatcher burrito was horrible nothing like the ole ISSACS. The new owner needs to change the name out of respect to the original owner!!!! So sad this place was. WAS a always go to for all the yards and halls around there! The yard I work at will not longer be ordering from them. Sooo sooo sooo sad!!! read more
