I did my ombre here and I must say that they did a great job! My ombre took about 5 hours, so girls, prepare yourself to sit there for a while! However, those 5 hours were worth it (well, the price was ...). I went there on Sunday, and came back on Tuesday because I thought it was too bright. I called in to make my ombre darker, and they accepted to re-do my hair for free!! I am really thankful that they did not charge me since I quite paid a lot for the first time. I got a referral for Co Yen to do lashes from someone I recently met. She was easy to contact, so I naturally made an appointment with her. The interior of this place is very outdated, and from the looks of it, you may be deterred to go somewhere else. As I waited for Co Yen, I was talking to another lady and she said they have been opened for about 20 something years. It doesn't look like they have remodeled for a while. The room she took me into was very small and dimly lit. It only had enough walking room for her and a small bed to lay on. The whole process took a very long time, 3 hours to be exact, which I ended up falling asleep for a bit. I did ask for her longest lashes, but still didn't think they were long enough. Perhaps they weighed my lashes down so I didn't get to experience the exact length. However, I really liked the overall look of the lashes. My eyes were super red afterwards, but she took her time to apply eyedrops and made sure I laid down for as long as I needed to for the redness to go away. Not sure if lash extensions are for me in general. I'll stick with the falsies, but glad I tried it with Co Yen! read more

I came here today based on a good friend's referral. For the last 6 years, I've been living on my lovely golden (dyed) lady-locks & now finally decided that I need some changes in my life. I have been eyeing this particular shoulder length cut for a while now and finally had the courage to implement the look on myself. Due to such a drastic change, I have been seeking left & right for the perfect hair stylist with experiences on cutting aline or shoulder-length haircuts. A good friend of mine, with amazing short haircuts (a-lines & shoulder length cuts) recommended Yen to me. I called early today (on a Sunday) and was lucky enough to have Yen squeeze me into a 3p.m slot for the same day. On my arrival, I immediately spot Yen and her super trendy & cool hair colors & felt my mind at ease. At least I know that she is currently up to date with styles. Yen took me over for a quick wash & I discovered that she & her husband has been in business for over 20 years, which made perfect sense because their shop did look like it was from the early 90s. And definitely, another kudo for my nervousness. I showed Yen a few pictures of the hairstyle I wanted and she quickly knew what to do. She took her time to ask me for my desire lengths and explain her evaluation on my hair to what best suits my face & hair type. I have super thin hair so Yen recommended that I shouldn't thin it out to much, which is exactly what i wanted!! :) The haircut took almost 40 mins, and I applaud Yen and her thoroughness on each and every strands of my iteeeny beeny hair. I don't think I can be happier with my new hair makeover, and I cannot choose the best person to have placed all my trust into to chop nearly 5 inches off of my head. First time here and william cut my hair. Well i told him i didnt wash my hair and that i am leaving out of town in the evening and i need to wash it, also that i have no time because i still need to pack. After saying all of that. He didnt wash my hair..he ended up straightening my hair and then he decided to cut it. After cutting my hair i thought he would atleast straighten it. But he didnt!! Urgh....so my hair looked messy when i walked out...like a freaking bird nest. he didnt make my life easier. Now i gotta go home. Shower again. Wash my hair and straighten again. Sometime you come to a hair salon for easy styling so it saves you time. But this really didnt save my time. Seriously i want to find a good hair salon that understands my hair!! This review will not do any justice as to how AMAZING Yenie does with my eyelashes. I have been going to her for about 3.5 years now and she never disappoints! I tell her what I want and she always does it better an my expectations and the last between 3-5 weeks depending on hold well I care for them. This time around I didn't take good care of them and I am going on week 3 and I keep getting compliments everyday on them. I am a very on the go, low maintenance person and these extensions help me look put together. I don't wear make up but it looks like I do. I have been to other places and they don't compare. I've actually been getting my haircut here since I was kid. Fortunately, I've stopped because if you can see the hair in my photos now, none of this hair could come out of that place. 2 stars, why? Because if you were to do an Asian salon, this would be your bet. I don't know what race has to do with hair, but some people can get like that. It's just like some people would never let a white person do their nails. I really could care less about race and that stuff. This is the only place I get my hair cut for the last 10+ years! They're a typical cheap Asian salon with great quality (meaning your haircut experience lasts beyond 1/2 hour). Isana is owned by a husband-wife team with other associates helping them out! Service: A I used to get my haircut from William but recently for the last 5 years, my mother and I get our haircut from Yen. Honestly both are brilliant in their own way but my mother and I are more inclined to Yen's thoroughness and attention to detail. Her haircuts are usually longer and she really just puts in the effort to please you. She may look and sound timid and reserved, but she's a nice hairdresser and engages in conversation with you. She gives good opinions about what types of haircut you should get to fit your facial frame. They are Asian hairdressers and they specialize in haircuts for Asian people, that's just the facts! Better if you make an appointment, rather than walk-in, but you end up waiting any way...hopefully less cause of your apparent appointment haha. Forget going in Saturday and Sunday afternoon. It's crazy wait. Location/Ambiance: B Isana is located in the famous Tully/King Lion Plaza. Parking is a nightmare especially since they are next to Tung Kee Noodle House. The shop itself is small. Total of 6ish chairs, one lounge couch, and two wash stations in the back. There is no break room or anything so the staff just eat and hang out on the station floor haha. Recently they've renovated to look more trendy and classy, wallpaper, vase, etc. Not sure how if that's the best idea for spacing but I appreciate the effort. Prices: A Cheap! Asian cheap like $20-$25 for a regular haircut and then the price increases for the other services but reasonably priced. Regular haircut experience includes shampoo and hairwash, hair styling with sprays and gels, etc. No head massage sadly haha. I am so glad I do not spend $50-$80 for the same quality haircut at another non-Asian shop. My friends always gripe about getting their hair cut but I quietly snicker, keke. TL;DR? I have been wanting to get eyelash extensions for awhile, but since I've lived in San Jose, I haven't found a place until now. My girlfriend got hers done with Yen and it looked Amazing!! I booked an appointment with Yen right away! I called at first but no answer since they were probably in a middle of a client, so I decided to text her. She replied after she was free and I was able to book an appointment. It took about 2 hours for the extensions, but it was well worth it. I love the look and even more I love that I can just wake up in the morning without having to put on eyeliner or mascara. Yen said that it'll last me about 3 1/2 weeks so I'm very excited about that. I will definitely come back for a touch up monthly! I highly recommend her, she takes her time and answers any questions you may have. Yen is the absolute best at applying lashes. I am a girly girl , a cosmetologist myself and very picky when it comes to beauty. I drive an hour and a half to her because she's that good, prices are actually reasonable and she is a sweetheart she's quiet at first but once you get to know her and she's an absolute sweetheart. The setting is amazing and relaxing i fall asleep every time. She will work with your schedule too. My beauty routine is more than cut in half since I don't have to work on curling my eyelashes putting tons of mascara I feel way cuter without makeup now even because I still have a glamour look since my lashes are gorgeous. At first I was taking some getting used to having the false eyelashes but once I got it down I love it. And no one has noticed they're fake. I get compliments all the time. Yen is the wife and the tall bald man is the husband. We always ask for Yen since she is meticulous, and her cut is consistently good. Daughter had brought in pictures of new style and she always ended up pleased with the new cut. The price is around $20 for a short haircut which is very reasonable. This is an Asian/chinese/vietnamese salon, but they've recently remodeled the place and trying to distinguish themselves from the lower end typical Asian salon. Another thing I like is that this place is located in the heart of Lion Plaza, so right after the haircut, we usually dash over to the eateries and get ourselves some goodies... I've been going here for over 10 years and I get my hair cut by William every time. This salon is always up to date with the latest styles for guys. He knows what I'm talking about when I ask for specific cuts and use up to date terminology like a disconnected undercut. My only word of advice is to show pictures of what you expect or be very descriptive of exactly what you want. Haircuts are fairly inexpensive and it's close by a lot of awesome Vietnamese food. I had another haircut by William last Sunday, as I have been doing for the last 24+ years. The fact that I would drive an hour one way to get a haircut from William should be enough of a testimony for William and his salon. In fact, our whole family goes there for our haircuts. I am somewhat new to writing reviews for yelp, but if any business deserves a good review, William and Yen should get one. They are very nice folks and have owned the business for as long as I have been going there. If you don't want to wait too long for William to cut your hair, you should call ahead on the weekends and come when they are not too busy (but they are usually quite busy on the weekends). This is my first time ever getting my hair done in San Jose. I have called several places before coming here. I couldn't find anyone to take me today so I decided to go to Yen after reading some good reviews on yelp. This place is very small with 3 hair stylists and their main clients are older people. I thought I give it a try and had Yen redo my color because I had several different colors in my hair before she made me look new again. I come here often because the owner is pretty good with long hair, which is ironic since he has nearly no hair. He almost always straightens your hair before he cuts, which I really like. I always ask him to keep the length, but tame my layers. I usually get the results I want, except when I try to experiment with a different length; it always fails. Definitely not for drop-ins. Asked for a fade and I got it. But then I asked him to leave some on top for me style. And out of no where he takes the shaver and goes across my head. If I was going to get my head shaved I would have done it myself. He was very rough with my head like I was a ragdoll so he could get on to his more regular customer. No finesse at all. One of the more painful cuts I've received. Not recommended for men's hair. But most of the women seemed to have a wonderful time and rocking hair. Also it doesn't seem like the sweep up hair frequently so I got a whole bunch of locks stuck in my sandals and my chair had some nice highlights too. Overall nice people, but not the greatest barber.
