Such a lively spot on the weekends. Live music, great group/family gathering spot and less than typical Mexican food. Fish served much in the Baja style (whole and unstinted) makes for a delicious and messy meal. More typical chips, salsa, guacamole all available along With fajitas, tacos, rice and beans, etc. the difference here is that there are more seafood options than Americanized Mexican restaurants. They even sport a sushi bar which is pretty good and shows the fusion capabilities when the ingredients and know how come together. Margaritas on tap, beers, and plenty of tequila options available. Fast service, but be sure to ask for a knife as this is an all hands on food experience! Open all week, this place is busy on the weekends with live music and a full house it can get loud and parking tight. If you are looking for quiet, try it during the week and enjoy happy hour deals. The original of two Omaha locations, this South O locale now boasts the addition of an ice cream parlor like their West O spot. Yum and fun!

Quesa-Tacos are the best birria tacos I have tried in Omaha. They are big, tasty and soft. They may be a little pricey, but they are worth every penny. Totally recommended. Pizza birria was delicious. No words to describe this masterpiece. Completely recommended.

Great space, food and service. The menu is huge but focused on Mexican Seafood and some sushi.

They welcomed us as soon as we came in the door. Beautiful, colorful seating area. They have a mixture of sushi, seafood and Mexican cuisine. I ordered a burrito with shredded beef and cheese, in a yummy beef consommé. We ordered a spicy California roll and shredded beef quesadilla. Our waitress was super nice. We got to listen to a mariachi band, a little loud, but nice.

I've been here several times and haven't had a bad experience. Service is always fast and the servers are always friendly. I love their ceviche, the mixto is my favorite. The camarones (shrimp) roca is also amazing, comes huge battered shrimp with a delicious sauce (it's like bang bang sauce). Also got a pulpo (octopus) taco, tender and flavorful. The canarito was also good. I swear every time I come in there is some sort of buy one get one free drink special. I need to check out the location out West and the new on in Shadow Lake.

This was my first time trying Mexican sushi and it was a flavor bomb since it tasted similar to a fried sushi roll from a typical sushi place but with a Mexican twist which elevated the dish. The smoked marlin enchiladas (flour) with refried beans and rice was also delicious and the portion is huge like Texas to the point that I got full even with a large appetite. As for the chips and salsa, it was pretty good. Overall, I would come back again to try more dishes on the menu especially more of the Mexican sushi.

I went to Isla Del Mar with some friends and we loved it. I had the Molcajete Mar and a michelada and they were both yummy. The service was good, and staff were bilingual. They had live music which was a plus.

The place for Birria! From quesadillas to fries, to nachos to ramen; they offer a wide array of how you can get their tender with slight spice Birria. There's also endless sushi and other dish options. Full bar but my favorite here are the Cantaritos--tangy with a chamoy Tajin rim. A large restaurant means no waiting for a table and the servers are always attentive.

I really don't know why it took me so long to try this place I love seafood! Isla Del Mar did not disappoint! They have a big menu and Our waiter was very nice answered all of our questions about the menu! Food was delicious and the portions were just right! We did go on a Friday evening and there was live music I was having some trouble hearing the conversation we were having but as they always promote on their social media live music on Fridays I wasn't surprised!

Best sushi in town--fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The vibe is great, with stylish paintings and a cool theme that adds to the overall experience. A perfect spot to enjoy amazing food in a fun setting!

Mind blown. Totally. Freaking. Blown. I was in town for a quick visit with relatives and we wanted to try this place out after reading about it online. Wow. Started with shrimp nachos and a grilled octopus that I will literally dream about until we can come back to town. Served with rice and a delicious and fresh pasta salad, it was literally perfection. We ordered the sushi "monkey brains" that was yummy crab stuffed into an avocado, breaded and fried with spicy Mayo and eel sauce on top. Yummmm, made me dance in my seat. We tried 2 other rolls, I don't Remember the name of - both very tasty. But the big surprise was the bariria!!!!! Soooo gooood! We will be back!!!!

Average, very average. So average that I only ate a couple of my tacos and didn't take my leftovers to go. Two stars, because the guac was fresh and tasty. Tacos were a disappointment after eating the tasty guac. Birrira tacos and consume were not the delish flavorful ones I'm used to eating in the great state of Texas.

Although all the things we ordered were tasty, our favorites were the KFC wings (soy ginger sauce) and the Kani Miso. KFC wings were perfect combo of super crispy outside and still soft inside meat; we preferred the soy ginger sauce on KFC wings more than the gochujang sauce we got on KFC buns. Kani miso definitely has a strong crab flavor, so not everyone may like it, but I loved it. I had gotten the simba roll at Yoshitomo as well, and I feel that I liked the one at Yoshitomo more than Koji because the roll was more drenched in sauce and had been more notably torched. The inside gives off an upscale, dark contemporary vibe with cozy ambient lighting. We sat outside in the porch area, which is dog friendly. Our waiter was awesome, very kind and engaging. Paid great attention to refilling our dog's water bowl too.

The Fukui cocktail (cucumber vodka flavors) is a great pairing with the menu items. One thing I really enjoy about this restaurant is that you order as you go, so you never leave hungry and it's a safe bet that you won't over order. The wait staff will frequently check in on you and see if you need to order more. The Bunzai Buns (runza inspired) and Gyoza are my favorite options outside of the sushi. The Gyoza are fresh, chewy, and are paired with a very flavorful sauce. Our favorite Nigiri is the Sea Bream And you truly can't go wrong with any of the rolls. Don't forget to end your meal with the cereal milk ice cream! Reservations are highly recommended as time slots will fill up fast. The atmosphere is well thought through - I enjoy how it is fairly dark in there, but the lights are shining so they are focused on the food. Can't recommend this restaurant enough!

We walked in at 5:15 PM, sat down, and the place was packed within minutes. Not an empty seat in sight--good timing on our part! Our server greeted us quickly, and after a quick look at the drink menu, we went all in with water, Coke Zero (YES, a Coke Zero establishment!), and a cocktail--the amusingly named Sex in Okinawa. No regrets. As the sushi train made its rounds, we grabbed a crab rangoon. It was tasty but had cooled off from its little journey, so we opted for a fresh batch from the kitchen. The spring rolls? Crispy, hot, and on point. I did have to ask for sriracha a few times (our server kept forgetting), but to be fair, they were busy, so I didn't hold it against them. One thing we noticed was that some of the sushi rolls lacked descriptions. A tiny sign with ingredients would be helpful. I am a sushi newbie, and I wasn't about to roll the dice on a Volcano Roll without knowing what was inside. For what I did try: California rolls - classic and exactly what you'd expect. Sexy jalapeño - surprisingly good! (If there was fish in there, I didn't notice.) Tempura sweet potato roll - crispy, slightly sweet, and a winner. Pro tip: They offer a veteran/military discount, but double-check your receipt--ours wasn't applied at first, but they fixed it without issue. Final bill: about $68, and let's be honest, a good chunk of that was drinks. Not bad for a fun dinner out! Would I go back? Absolutely. There's plenty more to try, and the atmosphere makes for a great night with friends. Final Verdict: Worth the ride!

If you heard about a sushi omakase place in the middle of America, what would you think? I bet…read moreit's probably not fresh-tasting raw dishes or wow-level sushi omakase. But there is a James Beard-level recognized chef here, in Omaha, that is delivering fresh-tasting raw and other omakase dishes week after week - geography be damned. His name is David Utterback. It's incredibly difficult to get reservations at this eight-seat omakase called Ota. Moreso than any omakase in my hometown on an island in the middle of the Pacific. In fact, I dont think he needs this review - the best don't need to advertise. I also don't think we have a sushi chef here in Hawaii that is as nationally-acclaimed as Utterback. So we were very interested to try. And we were very lucky to get reservations. I dont think there is a parking lot for this restaurant, which is tucked within his also highly-regarded Yoshitomo restaurant. So if you from Hawaii like me, and get lucky with the reservations, gotta roll da dice on parallel street parking. That's code for come early ;) (parking is free in the area) W-h-e-n you do arrive at Yoshitomo, there is a small - hidden - waiting area within Yoshitomo where you will be asked to wait for the omakase to begin. The dark photo with the lantern and Ota sign is in that waiting room. - And frankly - That's all that needs to be shown in a photo cause the omakase course itself varies depending on chef's tastes and what's available that week. The courses we had will likely not be the entirety of the courses you have. But the rice might be the same. There is a special black vinegar that chef uses to add to the rice. Ask him about it. There is a whole story behind it ;) So my photos are small in number. They are the highlights of our experience and what stood out to me that is beyond anything I've tried in Hawaii or elsewhere (including the black-vinegar sushi rice) Enjoy - cause we most certainly did :)
