Toast was one of the names I dropped in the metaphorical hat, and it won the vote of a few. My friends were surprised that I had named a spot I hadn't yet tried since I'm usually the "foodie" of the group. However, another girl in the group who had been here before vouched for it. I'm glad I finally got to try this place this past weekend, and I cannot wait to return! There were so many things on their menu that I wanted to try. A couple of the ladies ordered green chilaquiles, the friend we were celebrating ordered the Spanish Omelet, another woman I'd met that day had the bacon and eggs, another one ordered the Biscuits and grave with a side of bacon that looked perfectly crispy. I wish I had taken pictures of the plates as it all looked so lovely! I didn't even take a picture of my own food haha. I had my eyes on an omelet, one of the Benedicts or the Chicken n Waffle. In the end, the chicken and waffle won. It comes served with a little container of maple syrup with bacon pieces. The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The waffle was delicious, though I did request for some extra syrup on the side. To drink, a few ladies ordered mimosas, one ordered an iced caramel coffee, and I ordered the Carajillo. I fell in love with this drink last summer in Mexico and do not often see it on the menu. I love the subtle citrus notes the Licor 43 adds to this espresso drink. It is very similar to an espresso martini, and theirs comes topped with a toasted marshmallow. I honestly wanted to try almost every item in their Tipsy Barista section of their drinks. I'll just have to come back that many more times :) Plenty of parking in the mall lot. It does get pretty packed during peak hours. Fortunately I had called ahead to put our group of 6 down. We went in on Saturday around 11:30. It slowed down a bit while we were eating, but started to get busy again after 1. Otherwise, we might have been forced to honor their 90-minute rule. All in all, a great experience from everyone in our group. No complaints on the wait, service or food. That certainly deserves a toast. Great job, Toast!

I'm glad this place opened up in my hometown. Cerritos was definitely lacking an açaí place and Island Bodega fills the void. You can't go wrong customizing your own bowl with unlimited toppings for free! The small is $7 and is worth it. They pack your bowl with whatever bases you'd like from acai, pitaya, blue island, matcha, and coconut cream. I got the açaí and blue island and excited to try the other flavors next time. They sure don't skimp on the toppings here and you can get as many toppings as you'd like. When I went here one girl got literally everything and the guy Jeff made the bowl look so aesthetic. There's another girl here too that is super patient and has the best customer service she's Asian with glasses. Parking here is a little easier to find since it's on the corner lot so you can utilize Aldis parking or behind the building. Don't forget to try their island bodega latte iced. It's def my top 3 coffees of all time. It just blends in together so smoothly and I can't find this flavor anywhere else! I'm definitely going to frequent Island Bodega when I can cause it makes a good meal replacement for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. But today it was my dessert! I had the most delicious acai bowl ever at Island Bodega. It was so refreshing and totally energizing. I ordered the blue chia bowl, which had acai, matcha, blue chia, banana, strawberry, blueberries, and kiwi. The fruits were super fresh and the toppings were generous. I loved the hemp granola and the cacao nibs that added some crunch and flavor. The bowl was also very filling and satisfying. The customer service was very nice and friendly. They greeted me with a smile and took my order quickly. The shop was clean and cozy, with lots of plants and a good vibe. I enjoyed sitting at the counter and watching them make the bowls. I was looking for poke for lunch 12/18/19 at 12:05pm but ended up going to this newly soft opened acai place. Gorgeous looking and well built, plenty of seating arrangements. First thing you'll notice is the lit up turtle on the wall and window which is a nice touch for pics. They had ENDLESS amount of toppings and drizzles condiments, I've had a couple of acai bowls in Hawaii but having it closer to home less than 3 miles is a kudo! The staff was super friendly and outgoing! You can try samples if you're not familiar which I recommend doing for first timers! Menu is super easy and pricing is on point. They offer build your own bowls here with a decent amount of options for bases and toppings. Toppings are also unlimited here which is a +1 in my book. I opted to get an ube base here and WOW their ube base here is some of the best I've had--100000000% would recommend. The ube flavor is strong and the texture itself was smooth and creamy. The toppings also were yummy and fresh. Overall, I loved my bowl and will definitely be returning. The store itself is clean and I love the decor! Service was also friendly and efficient. There are some seats inside if you wanted to have your drink or bowl there, but most people, including myself, took it to go. The store is located in a pretty large plaza with plenty of parking.

My last two visits, I was the only customer in the store, yet it took over 10 minutes to receive my single drink because the employees are gossiping the whole time. I never complain and am extremely patient, but it's extremely frustrating when they're talking about boy drama and pausing in between making my drink to finish their conversation. Sadly won't be back as it's faster to get a smoothie next door at Sprouts.

My honey ordered the smash burger and it was also underseasoned and overcooked. A sad little double feature of disappointment. Service matched the food. Once they dropped the plates, they ghosted. Never table-touched, never checked in. They could literally see the looks on our faces and still kept walking by like we were invisible. We ended up throwing most of it away. I only took the egg and those sad, unseasoned potatoes home so I could try to rescue them myself. The bacon? Delicious. Absolute legend. Everything else tasted like it was cooked by someone who's never met a spice rack. To the owner: please, for the love of brunch, go find the seasoning. It's out there somewhere. We believe in you.

I will say, facing the back, I did see her (and other staff) go to the back and chew their gum, touch their phones, and drink their drinks without washing their hands and coming back up front (also a health violation, btw).
