Also, I was expecting there to be matcha options. But no matcha. Just coffee, acai bowls, smoothies, toasts, and sandwiches. Been wanting to try this because I've seen it online from tiktoks and instagram because of their locations in Hawaii! I tried the monkey bowl which was banana base with banana peanut butter and cacao nibs on top. It was decent. What threw me off was the coffee. I got an iced caramel latte with mac nut milk. It was sour. I'm not sure if the milk was expired or the espresso is old. I had to throw it away. I know it's not a coffee shop so I shouldn't expect too much from the coffee. Really enjoyed my first visit to The Sunrise Shack. This place is great and definitely a new favorite local spot for me. I ordered the small açaí bowl, which had a ton of flavor. I particularly enjoyed the granola and shaved coconut because it paired really well with the açaí and bananas by giving it the perfect crunch. The shop is small, but it has a great feel and doesn't feel crowded at all. The staff was friendly, the vibe was relaxed, and it's just a really chill place to stop by. As a local, I'm always happy to find spots like this that are worth coming back to. Conclusion first: did I like this place? Yes! Would I come again? Yes! Here's what was off. Smoothies: We tried to order a smoothie with no mango (pineapple instead) and they couldn't because everything was "pre-made". What about people with certain fruit aversions? The smoothie was still good I will say. Coffee drinks: although they have a blender for the smoothies, they don't offer blended coffee drinks - weird. I got an iced caramel latte extra sweet and although it had no frills, it was pretty good. I call it a lazy-latte because they really don't seem to customize them too much. I was finally able to make it out to The Sunrise Shack yesterday! I ordered their "Local Favorite" Monkey Bowl. Maybe I just didn't know what to expect, but I was surprised by how small the small size was for $13. The flavors were good, but I personally prefer açaí bases, so next time I'd probably try a different bowl. Take me back to Hawaii! The infamous Sunrise Shack is on the mainland and I'm all for their Long Beach location bringing the Hawaiian vibes. Came here on opening day and also a few weeks after. The service is very fast and the bowls taste amazingly sweet. They have bowls, smoothies, coffee, sandwiches and toast. I tried their classic Tropical Bowl and Acai bowl. I think I enjoyed their acai bowl a little bit more, the tropical one was too sweet for me. For me personally, I think their pitaya sauce is what separates them from other places. It looks pretty wild because its pinkish purple but tastes great. As for parking, there's parking nearby near all the other businesses. Also street parking as well. Sunrise shack is a yummy alternative to Jamba juice. Using all real fruits instead of sorbets which is great! The smoothies and bowls are not too sweet. The I Lava You smoothie has similar ingredients to the Hailey Bieber smoothie at Erewhon but has less of a strawberry flavor. Still good though! read more

Friends were hyping this place up because it came from Hawaii but it didnt hit the mark. The place is very cutely decorated and vibrant. However not a lot of seating if it's busy and it was very busy. The service was nice and friendly however. We were told about 15 min wait but it became about a 30 wait, I wasn't in a hurry but when you wait that long and the food doesn't come out great you feel a bit sad. I got the blue dream small, it's the perfect amount for a single person but it is expensive. My main complaint was with the base and it was that the consistency was off. My blue dream was very icey. I really enjoy a refreshing Aćai smoothie bowl; it's always such a delightful treat. The vibe inside was giving Hawaii , which was so relaxing. The staff were really friendly, and even though there's no restroom, we had a lovely time eating outside where the breeze made everything feel even more enjoyable. This place is EXCELLENT! We came in on a Friday at 10am and were definitely prepared to wait. There wasn't much of a wait! The workers were stacked and ready. Everyone greeted us, the guy taking our order was helpful and polite. Smoothie was excellent!!! I enjoyed every taste. It's definitely not like "any other smoothie place". It was refreshing, not too sweet and essentially, perfectly balanced. Their sandwiches are excellent! Flavor is 10/10 and unlike any other place I've had a sandwich from. Bowl was also great! My husband had that and said it was good so that's a good sign. Any negative reviews seem like extreme critics. They just opened. Obviously they're adjusting. If you're charging $10+ for a smoothie you should have a restroom for customers to use. I know this place is new and they're still working out the kinks of everything but they should have had a soft opening to where they could train their employees versus now. The woman training, the girl at the register was a little rude and demeaning to her, which I definitely didn't like and again they should have trained these employees before fully opening. I missed out on The Sunrise Shack during my last visit to Oahu, so I was really excited to try it out as a local! I went around 9:30 AM on a Sunday and it wasn't busy at all. Food/Drinks/Merch: My group & I came mainly for coffee. I was recommended the Hazelnut Latte with the macadamia nut milk by the staff and my sister & brother in law tried their bullet coffees. I thought the latte was just okay & slightly watered down and my sister thought it was too sweet. The bullet coffees weren't strong enough for their liking. They did however really enjoy the Turkey Avo Aioli, which came with chips. They have a great menu & I'm definitely coming back to try the smoothies & açaí! They looked so good. Their merch collection is impressive. They had stickers, baby onesies, mugs, shirts, hats, & hoodies. Location/Safety/Parking: The location is safe (close to LBX) and parking is usually easy on Norse Way, with limited curbside parking right at the front too. Service/Ambiance/Vibe: The staff was really friendly & helpful with my questions. Decent seating inside & some tables outside. We waited in line for almost an hour around 9:00 this morning. They had a special for the I Lava you smoothie, buy one get one free. Once we finally got to the counter they told us they were out of that smoothie. We asked if we could get another smoothie buy one get one free, and we were told that we couldn't do that. The smoothies were good but they were about $11 a piece. I understand it is their opening day and there would be a line, but I was disappointed that I waited that long for the special that they ran out of before 11:00 and were unwilling to give us a discount on another smoothie. I go to Hawaii a lot. Someone i follow on instagram was really blowing this place up. I got a drink that didn't have bananas in it because all of their drinks have bananas in them. Should be renamed banana shack. So after spending a lot for this small drink. It was meh. The person who explained some of the ingredients I had questions about was very nice. I'm guessing this place is only popular because it's located in a very touristy spot in Hawaii. Idk how long this place is going to last because its only customers are kids from the community college next door. I actulaly like their products but I have a few gripes about the establishment itself. 1. Inconsistency in serving size - this is probably the one that upsets me the most. I came bright and early on Saturday morning with my best friend for a Yelp Elite event in which she was able to get a monkey bowl. I bought a tropical smoothie that day which tasted of real fruit in it with that signature acidic and slightly bitter taste of pineapple at the end. I was happy with that visit. I came again that following Monday and tell me why my monkey bowl during this visit was barely filled up unlike the Yelp Elite visit. Do I get less of an intentional effort and quality of product because I'm a regular shmegular customer instead of a Yelp Elite customer who will likely leave a review on the place? Is that what is required of customers to get a consistent quality product? It really grinds my gears when I go to an establishment and the product is not the same quality and portion size as the previous visit. It especially grinds my gears even more when you think of the context in which one bowl was prepared vs the other. 2. Pricing on menu. The menu is so unclear how they charge you. The menu doesn't clearly state that for add-ons you will be charged and even more so, there's no price. I don't mind paying for add-ons, but could you at least make it clear on the menu?? I paid almost $17 for a monkey bowl that was barely full while all I added was vanilla whey and strawberries. The vanilla whey was almost $2 to add on and that wasn't even made clear in the pricing on the menu. For me, the value of $17 is not worth this teeny bowl. It really sucks cause it does taste really good but it's the little things that aren't really little imo such as PRICING on a MENU where you expect to see the cost of things BEFORE you order, not once the bill is all rung up and you're forced to do the awkward social backpedaling of canceling something in your order cause you weren't expecting it to cost that much. It really sucks but idk if I'd come back just for these two reasons. They get 3 stars instead of 2 because their product is actually good. But a good product doesn't really mean anything if you're not consistent in how you make and serve it and clearly show pricing and additional pricing for non-standard items. read more

I'm so sad that I don't love this place because I was so excited when I saw that we were getting a sunrise shack in long beach. i go to lbcc so i'm always on the hunt for a quick bite/ coffee between classes and even though it's a bit pricey, i thought that the sunrise shack was like a little tropical getaway from a stressful long day at school. i'll start with the good, the chicken pesto sandwich is delicious!! however, i've stopped by to get coffee a couple of times and tried to convince that i liked it and it was worth my money, i will say it's really strong but that's about it. i actually haven't been in a couple months now help just reminded me to review and it brought up the experience that turned me off from getting my mediocre coffee. the last time i went in a sweet friendly girl was ringing up, i don't remember her name but i've always have nice experiences with all the girls that worked there so honestly shoutout to the girls on the team. at this particular time i was trying to not use my card as much and use up my cash so i asked to pay in cash and it turned out i was 3 cents short so i asked if she wanted me to just pay with my card instead. the girl told me that it was totally fine and i handed her the cash i had only for this man to intervene from idek where he spawned from, but he was uh uh you can pay with card if you don't have exact change. the girl tried to talk to him but he shut her down. i didn't say anything and just paid with card but also that situation gave me the ick and i haven't wanted to go back since. like technically he wasn't wrong for telling me i had to pay for the whole thing, but for a place that markets "positivity" and "good vibes" you'd think they would've given me 3 cents off my total. i hope things are different now but idk #neverforget read more
