Got a lift done on my jeep and wanted to get an alignment. I live in town and called a few places close to home to get it done. Never received a call back from any of the shops I called except Discount Tires on Ualena. Bad decision. My jeep drove worse than it did before I brought it in and steering wheel was misaligned and tilting to the left as I would drive straight. Took it back and they fixed it (somewhat) but now steering wheel was tilting to the right as I drove straight. Finally took it to Island Brake and Alignment. Took about an hour and half. Went to get my wheels aligned. Was told it would take 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Was finished in one hour. Very friendly got a print out of the alignment specs. I asked to them to check my brakes. Where do I begin? Been to Derrick's shop I'd say over past 20 years for my previous vehicles of a Maxima and Honda CRV. Recently took in my wife's Honda Fit needing a diagnosis and repair of the drivers window that doesn't want to open and close properly. Dealer quoted me over 1k part alone for a car over 10 years old so I figured why not ask if Derrick shop could look into it. Also needed have drive belt changed out and a right rear leaking wheel cylinder looked at. Long story short, Derrick diagnosed a bad window regulator that was replaced, two each wheel cylinders in rear replaced as both found to be leaking during inspection and drive belt changed. Everything was done under one day and way under what I would have paid at dealership with "genuine" parts. In this inflationary economy with high costs, Derrick's outstanding service saved me time and money which are both important resources nowadays. Can't go wrong with Derrick and his team. They get busy but, I can't say enough about their outstanding service and workmanship. My truck brakes were squealing and my motorcycle mechanics recommended I see Derek at Island Brake and Alignment. We're talking about guys who can easily do their own brake jobs but when I was in need, they pointed me in the right direction. The shop is very busy so I made an appointment and found Derek to be super nice and helpful. I ended up having all brake pads and rotors changed and the job was completed in no time on the day of my appointment. A few days later I had an electrical problem which left me stranded. I was going to have the truck towed home but managed to get ahold of Derek and he told me to have it towed to his shop. Thanks to AAA and O'Sung I got a quick tow back to Derek. After discussing what had happened, we all agreed I probably had a bad alternator. Derek said he would run some tests and give me a call. It was July 3rd so I was pretty sure I wasn't going to see my truck for a few days. To my surprise, Derek called me the next morning of the 4th to tell me my battery was fine but my alternator needed replacing. It was all done and ready to go. Yep, he and his crew were working on the holiday to get things done! My girlfriend told me she had recently replaced her alternator and it cost a lot but Derek's price (@ the brake shop) was way better so I got to brag a little bit when I got home. I needed an alignment after changing the tie rods on my 1995 Toyota Avalon. After doing the alignment on the rack, they test drove the car twice to fine tune the camber and toe. I was monitoring the wear on my front tires as having an alignment issue. Although the car was stock, it likely came from the factory with an aggressive suspension setup. 2019 Corvette GS. Both front tires were showing equal wear, but noticeable that the inside of both were worn more than the rest of the tire. Since the tires are +400$ each, I wanted to try and extend the life of them, even if for another 1000 miles (there was on 7300 miles on this set). I called and made an appointment that was about 2 weeks away. Dropped my car off, and was told 1-1.5 hours. I returned to the shop after walking to the gym and back and my car was done. I was given the before and after printouts to document that the car was slightly out of alignment. Appreciate the experience, knowledge and expretise to be able to work on my car.
