I have a 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan, and the hatch (back van door) broke. I wasn't sure how, but it no longer stayed open. I called the dealership, and they told me it would be a $150.00 diagnostic fee and then I would have to schedule another time to fix it once they knew what was wrong. I'm sure that's normal for a diagnostic fee, but I thought it was ridiculous. I stopped by Island Brake & Alignment and explained what was wrong with my car, Derrick came out right at that moment, took two minutes and told me what was wrong with it. He scheduled with me for the following Monday, and told me just to drop off the car. After I dropped it off, it took a little over and hour, and he called me to let me know everything was fixed. I got my car serviced at the Servco we bought my car at, and we were paying to the upward of $500 to $600 at every tune up because I'm not a car guru and thought that's what these services cost (Ha!) After doing much research and taking a Financial class that opened my eyes to (cue A Whole New World song) a whole new world, I found that auto sales companies make most of their money in the servicing department *gasp* because they are way overpriced since consumers believe that the best service their car can get is where they bought it from. - I digress. Added a leveling kit to my truck at a shop and the alignment went out on me. Took to Derrick and man what a difference it made. The shop that originally did the alignment for me did not reset the computer system causing the electronic system to pull alignment back to specs. Came as a walk-in around 8:20am. The guy at the front was really nice, told me he could do the alignment and that he had three cars ahead to do first, so no problem since I'm a walk-in. Good AC waiting area to wait for your car. If not, Good Will is a few stores down and across are some food shops. I was anticipating about 2hrs since I was a walk-in, but they were quick! Wow THE BEST SERVICE EVER!!! I've used this break shop more than once and I am ALWAYS impressed with the quality of service AND HONESTY! We went into to have our breaks serviced when my husband noticed the tires looked low. The owner took the car BACK into the shop, checked the air pressure and filled ALL the tires. To start I have modified pickup.truck. Nothing to excessive, just about 3 inches. For some reason, there would be a clunk sound when I make a turn. And that sound would be pronounced when I go over a dip or bump. For the life of me I could not figure it out. I checked the suspension. Nothing was rubbing. Rotors were good. LCAs were good. Took it to Derrick at Island Brake and Alignment. He immediately saw it was the ball joints on the UCAs. How could I have missed that. He told me,.if I ordered the part, they could install it. I got the part within 2 days made an appointment with Derrick. The part was installed within an hour and half. They also did an alignment. How awesome is that. Just got back from my alignment and I must say I am very impressed. I came in at 9AM on the dot. The lady that checked me in was very nice, and professional. The waiting room was nice but small, not a big deal but if you are there and its a rush, it can be a tight spot. Now onto the alignment, I came in with a very specific alignment request. My car is not stock by any means and they seemed to be the only shop that would align my car to my specs. The car was on the rack in about 5 minutes after check in. I was told it would take about an hour to an hour and a half. I saw the car go up and down about 10 times, the car went out on the test drive and came back in under an hour. I saw the spec sheet and it was PERFECT! Exactly what I wanted and on time to boot. The cost was 146 I think, and yea that might be "a lot" to some people, but if you built a car why skimp on one of the most important parts of the setup? I am a very satisfied and if you have a modified car these are your guys! read more

I called to inquire about an alignment for my Sequoia since I had just got four new tires installed at Sam's and they only do rotate and balancing. My thoughts and experiences: Derek runs an AMAZING shop and has OUTSTANDING customer service. Very professional, shows so much aloha and is very accommodating to his customers. Just from the couple times that I've brought my truck in, I can really tell that he cares about his customers and looks out for their best interests and finances. He understands that customers don't enjoy dealing with vehicle issues and paying large amounts of money to get things fixed. I really respect him as a local business owner who is willing to go out of his way to help customers find the best prices for parts and is willing to assist with the labor. Unfortunately, I have no experience with fixing vehicles, especially my lifted truck that I purchased from Kaua'i. Knowing that I can take my truck to a trusted company like Island Bake and Alignment really puts my mind at ease. Below are the services that I've had done: Alignment for Recon: I purchased a lifted truck from Kauai last year and needed to get my recon done so I was recommended by a few friends to Island Brake and Alignment. Derek was able to schedule me the following day that I called and got my alignment taken care of within an hour or so. He advised me that everything came back looking good and I was able to get my recon done the following day. Ball Joints and Control Arms: Took my truck for some 4 wheeling over the past couple months and started having some issues with the ball joints that were wearing down. Called Derek to see if I could get a diagnostic done and he took the truck in the day after I called and was able to fit me in between appointments and was able to find the issue within the hour. When I came back to pick up the truck, he advised me that the parts would cost a significant amount more if I bought them locally. He took the time to find a reputable brand for new control arms on Amazon where I was able to save more than $300 dollars!!! These guys are awesome! Needed to get an alignment done for RECON inspection but was hesitant since the last 2 places I had gone to couldn't get it right.
