Tried Island Brew midday, during the week, and it had a line. They were out of the biscuit sandwich, so I got eggs, bacon and toast. My eggs and toast were pretty basic, but other family members got their Monte Christo sandwich and French Toast and it was next level. Really good and nice presentation. Worth the wait! There's lots of seating and a beautiful view too.

This makes a great weekend brunch spot by the water. Lowkey, full service, peaceful ambiance. Nothing special to note on the service, but they are polite and accommodating. They also leave notes on their signs with positive messages (see photo). On one occasion the outdoor speaker was on blast - not only was it unusual and the volume unsuitable for the ambiance, but the music wasn't good. That was definitely a one-off experience as they usually play good music at a volume that allows for good conversation. The line moves quickly and there are plenty of seats to sit while you wait for them to deliver the food to your table. The coffee, smoothies, and food are all very good. Love the generous lox bagels. Lots of local art on the walls. This place is on regular rotation for us so easy 5 stars.

I wanted so bad to like this place because it's super cute and the reviews says so! But unfortunately it did not live up to what others were saying. The wait was a bit long for my açaí bowl and it was pretty pricey for what I got! I was hoping to devour it with my son but that wasn't the case. My son loves his açaí bowl And he only took one spoon! That's very unlikely so I had to taste it to see why. I was already sad on how small it was for almost $20! And when I tasted it, it wasn't even sweet! I tried to force it on him and I eventually threw away the entire thing! Sigh.... But the place is super cute. Lots of choices. The staff is a bit slow.... Maybe too chill? I don't know. Won't be back.

This place is too cute. After our hike we decided to check out this coffee shop. Fell in love with this place. Drinks are reasonably priced and they have unique names. They serve food and pastries. The drinks we had were kukui nut latte, honey girl matcha, and mango sticky rice matcha. All tasted great. Service was pleasant and fast. There are seats inside and outside. Amazing views all around. We were there mid-day so it was really hot outside. Protect your food because the birds will get them. Overall, good place for coffee, food and good conversations.

One of my favorite places to grab coffee, and chill! Everything on their menu is great.. haven't tried a thing I didn't like. My go to is their chicken salad sandwich, but today I finished up a hike and got an açaí bowl, breakfast sandwich and waffles!

Such a beautiful ambiance if you are on the east side of the island. We were lucky enough to get a beautiful day when we visited. I noticed the long line and decided to order ahead while we found our seats. Turns out they place your food outside near the front instead of calling your name when it's done so make sure to check the table outside. I got the eggs caprese, açaí bowl, and spinach salad. The view was beautiful and thankfully we got seats up near the shade which have a really nice view of the water. Opening seating and some areas better for groups than other. Lots of dogs were with their owners eating and my kids trying to pet them all. Such a unique pretty spot. We pretty much served ourselves and cleaned up afterwards. They were busy the entire time we were there.

I'm always suspicious of a coffee house that also has an expansive food menu and a good view. After my family of five crushed koko head, my three kids were starved of food and I was starved of caffeine. All were satisfied and we enjoyed lounging by the lagoon as we prepared to face the real challenge of the day (Costco on a Saturday). Ordering is a bit strange as they bring food to your table but leave drinks for pick up at their counter. The outdoor space is pretty expansive so good luck if you have kids by yourself. Also, post hike with no water, I was a bit surprised to have to ask for ice for the water.

Great little cafe for breakfast. So many options to choose from, even as someone who doesn't really like eggs. The vanillla bee cold brew was so so good. I would definitely come back for that. The whole seating area is really nice too. Great views. Would recommend especially before or after that koko hike!

Vibe good. Quite. Good place to study or eat. Only tried the kukui latte, which was okay. I would say island vintage taste better. Location is great

@fortunefoodfinds: "But first coffee, bc I got a LATTE to BREW! A Banana Bread Latte n' a Kukui Cold Brew from Island Brew Coffeehouse in Hawai'i Kai. They serve a wide variety of food n' drinks, n' have several locations. This was just what I needed to give me some motivation!" SERVICE: fast n' friendly INTERIOR: limited indoor seating, but it's all about the outdoor views. Got lost in the menus so I stuck with what I went there for, which was coffee; helped narrow down my choices. EXTERIOR: plenty of seating with most under umbrellas. In the same plaza as Long's n' Safeway. WAIT TIME: under 5 mins to place order, another 5 mins to receiving drinks PARKING: free lot OVERALL COMMENTS: got myself the banana bread latte that wasn't so much banana-y. Although it was still very delicious. Literally took my first sip n' thought how yuMmmy. Perfectly sweet n' balanced well with the coffee. Mah hubz kukui cold brew was also really good. I'm not a cold brew person, but the macnut flavored cold brew along with the coconut flavored cold foam had no traces of bitterness n' gave a nice sweetness. Even though both drinks were on the pricier side (had to do with the 20oz we got), they ended up being worth the yuMmminess!

My husband and I found this Island Brew location on our way to go hiking. The line was out the door, so we knew it was going to be good. I had the Ehu Kai cold brew, and it was fantastic. I wish I could've drank several of them!! My husband also enjoyed his peppermint mocha. For food, I ordered the veggie pesto toast and added bacon. It was excellent - a simple combination, but I loved every bite. My husband had a breakfast sandwich and enjoyed it as well. We loved the outdoor seating area (especially the beanbags!) and getting to sit along the water.

They have amazing drinks, a beautiful view and so many tables outside to sit and study or just look at the water. The servers are always nice too! We had a sandwich before and it was tasty even though it was a little pricey. I got banana matcha and it was the perfect sweetness and worth the price. We definitely will come back!

I was wondering if this is a good place to study and get some work done?

Yes! This place is perfect! There is ample seating and free wifi. You can also choose to sit outdoors although I'm not sure how far the wifi will reach. It does become busier on weekends but if you come early you can still find a good seat.…

Does your chai latte contain any gluten?

No. It's made with coconut condensed milk, spices and Tea!

Will you guys be open for mother's day?

Yes we will. Thanks for considering us!

Where do you park?need reservations to seat outside during lunch hour?

There’s parking at the shopping center. Hawaii Kai shopping center same as Safeway. Turn in and drive straight back. No reservations but usually not that busy. Thanks

Even so, they had a display case filled with a variety of scones and a coffee bar in the back. After looking over the menu I chose an iced Hawaiian honey latte along with a lilikoi scone while my dad went with a salted caramel scone. Our order was ready within about five minutes and we were quickly on our way. I first tried the lilikoi scone and really enjoyed it. It had a nice sharpness that was balanced with just enough sweetness to keep it from being overpowering. My coffee was good as well. The coffee itself was deep and rich and while I picked up a bit of sweetness at the start, the Hawaiian honey really came through on the finish. My dad also really enjoyed his salted caramel scone. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. We both enjoyed our scones and I thought my coffee was solid as well.

After doing some research on Yelp we decided to check out Moena Cafe. The restaurant is pretty small so I would recommend getting here early. We didn't have to wait for a table but probably 30min after we arrived they had a 40-minute wait (lucky, I know). I decided to go with the avocado toast and cold brew, and my husband had an order of pancakes with blueberries. First of all, the cold brew was probably the best cold brew I've ever had! I wouldn't say I am a coffee snob by any means, but I could definitely taste the difference in their coffee. The avocado toast was absolutely delicious and came in pretty huge portions! It was two pieces of toast with two eggs in a bed of arugula and a very generous amount of avocado. It was cooked to perfection and exactly what I needed after our hike. The pancakes are HUGE so I would recommend only ordering one. My husband was about to get two, but the waiter kindly suggested ordering only one, and she was right. I had originally wanted the corned beef hash, but they sold out and offered the pineapple sausage hash instead. The banana chantily pancakes were good, though I think the chantily sauce is really what makes the dish stand out. The pancakes themselves were fairly standard. I probably could've just ordered the single pancake because the portion was hug, I barely finished half of it! The pineapple sausage hash was a pleasant surprise. I already love pineapple sausage, so I enjoyed the sweet and savory flavors, and it was nice to try something a little different. It seems to be a more grab and go spot especially considering how tiny it is in the actual store. PARKING: They have a few stalls in the lot shared with the apartment building nearby marked "Visitor". There is also metered street parking in the area. Parking hasn't been an issue for me. Altogether a super cute local spot with high quality coffee. One of my faves on Oahu for sure.

My mom said not to drink coffee lest I become addicted to caffeine. I hope I do not go down that…read moreroot, but being a student tempts one into consuming caffeine like a madman. This is a great place to do work and meet friends, and also maybe get out of the rain while you wait for your bus. The drink options are unique, which is what I like to see for these fancy cafes that call themselves "coffeehouses". The team working here are young, probably UH students, which is to be expected. If you know me, I love sweets. Coffee is no exception. The Haupia latte is perfectly sweet, as it balances the bitterness of the coffee. The same could be said for the Hawaiian honey latte. I have a suspicion that I will be drinking all the sweet drinks from here. Let it only be for when I need energy and increased focus on an assignment. (Pray for me.)

Breakfast in Honolulu, Hawaii…read more.. The newest location of Island Brew Coffeehouse is on the ground level of the Charles Atherton House... look to the left when you enter the lobby. (It's on the corner of University Avenue and Metcalf Street.) Since metered street parking is free on a Sunday, I parked across the street (on Metcalf) where there's a row of stalls... easy! The friendly staff were pleasant and helpful! They answered all of my questions and made great suggestions! I ordered an Avocado Toast without spicy sauce... and a Kukui Latte with soy milk. I liked both! The toast had some garlic and butter flavoring on the multi-grain toast. It was simple, healthy, and filling! The Kukui Latte was sweetened just right! The macadamia and coconut flavors were tasty! This is a wonderful study/meeting/work spot that Irene discovered! It's spacious, clean, and bright! The restroom is modern, safe and comfortable! We'll be back!
