I usually don't prioritize poke because I don't want to risk going to a place where the bowl has a fishy flavor, and sometimes you get partially frozen fish--which is just unpleasant. That was not the case here. I got the signature spicy tuna, and it was delicious--fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. If I was having a bad day, even if I wasn't hungry, a stop to Island Fin Poke would cheer me up so fast. The staff is truly remarkable. The too good to be true price of $14.99 you can add everything you want (they do up charge for certain ingredients like masago and avocado, normal) and they have very fresh and delicious ingredients, sauces and toppings. They offer different kind of fountain drinks not from Coke or Pepsi. They are located in the shopping center next to Trader's Joe. Plenty of parking. Their poke is so fresh and their sauces are all homemade and they have very unique combinations, and I love that you can get a lot of toppings as part of your bowl. I built my own and I got the ahi tuna, salmon, and spicy tuna. I love how they toss your poke (non flavored choices) in sauces of your choice. You can try the sauces. Typically at other poke spots, the non-marinated fish tastes plain, but it's so flavorful since they toss it in sauce. Their sauces are flavorful and they have some special ones that you cannot find somewhere else. Awesome service - the owner came up to check in on how everything was when I was eating. The woman who made my poke and was so patient and explained everything about the sauces and the process to create the poke bowl. They even gave me a sample of dole whip! I came here with a group of friends, we didn't get any of the food but we were in the area and saw that they had 50% dole whip during happy hour so we decided to stop in for a try. Wow! I've never been to Build Your Own Poke bowl place. We were greeted immediately by staff and the owner. They were so kind & welcoming. They walked us through the process and encouraged to us to try their various options before we made a decision. I opted for a spring salad mix as my base, with octopus, spicy tuna & salmon for my proteins (mind you, I'm not normally a tuna fan but theirs is made with their own in-house spicy sauce and it was delicious!). The poke was fresh, delicious and didn't make me feel sick afterwards. They brought the food to our table once we were seated. They checked in on us and took away our finished bowls (we paid before we sat so they really didn't have to do that) and they brought us little samples of their orange & pineapple Dole whip which were both equally delicious- hubs favoured the orange and I favoured the OG pineapple Lol. Not bad for Nashville but here were a few indicators that it's still not great poke yet- the ginger was the lower grade red-dyed ones instead of fresher yellow ginger. Sauces ideally should be defined on their menu (I can't tell what a few of them were just based off the name/would taste like so hard to choose those options). Salmon also looks mass produced/not as fresh/diced way too tiny-- just needs to be more fresh and bigger. Avocado was also a rip-off -- $4 for a quarter of it lol.
